Ndibunna:

Please Anambra is not in the league of your community that is headless.

Traditional institution existed in Anambra communities before the arrival of the Whiteman.

Nnewi alone has a long standing stool even before British set foot in Nigeria and it has been like that till this day

Am from Anambra State. What exactly do you call a stool. Stool translates to Okwa, which simply means having a role, not kingship. There was nothing like Igwe any where, except for Onitsha people who claim to come from Benin with their Obi. Go and ask your elders for the truth. There were titled men, but they were not kings. Within the Ozo, NZe or Someother Stock grouping, there was the highest titled Man who led procedures and rituals, as well as decision making. Some time two or three man were equally titled and they countered each other. But there was no king.

Where the British won such men, they gave them armed police and called them warrant Chiefs. Where such leaders opposed the British, which was the case in most communities, they looked for the most Dubious Character in the community and gave him armed police and named him warrant chief to oppose the real community leadership. This is captured well in the story of things fall apart by Chinue Acheba.

Igbos are republican, every man had his say, even though all men were not equal. No man was appointed a king by the people. Rather you level of title determined your political role, stool or Okwa. Power was shared, not a monarchy.
Politics / Re: ‘your Letter Lacks Respect’ — Obi Of Onitsha Tackles Soludo’s Commissioner by GerogeI(m): 6:18pm On Jan 18
I agree with Obi of Onitsha.

But more importantly,
There is no thing traditional about igwe's and obi's in Igboland of which Anambra is part of.

They were started by British invaders as a means to subdue the people, Igbo had no chiefs, talk less of warrant Chiefs, nor Kings.

Nze and Ozo were socio political Societies, with Pyramid structures that allowed several people to provide leadership based on their level of title in the society. It is similar to a parliamentary government, with no Prime minister, only the leadership of the House. There morality and court were provided by Nri theocracy through the transfer of Ofo!

Soludo- can we stop deceiving ourselves. Do away with all the Igwes and Obi and replace them with the people's congress (which we have as town unions already) led by three elected persons forming a trinity to be known as Mayor or some igbo name 'Izu'. Trinity so they countercheck each other. Pass a law that establishes them as an extension of the state Government, but synchronize with Local government ment laws by electing them as councillors. This will make for faster more people oriented development, and also force the judicious use of local Goverment funds as they can be shared for community administration by the state Government irrespective of who answers local Government Chairman. You make the non performing Local Govt. Chairmen redundant.

Politics / Re: Why Dangote Is Producing Diesel And Aviation Fuel Firstly by GerogeI(m): 8:13pm On Jan 13
Simply put,
If ony diesel and kerosene is produced, then only the atmospheric distillation part of the refinery is working. Even at that, there is no way you can produce diesel and kerosene without producing petrol and LPG.

The real koko is that the petrol from atmospheric distillation is in low octane form called naptha or straight run gasoline. They need to run it through a reformer, and add benzene to make it suitable for modern cars. So for now, they will be storing it, or exporting it to other refineries.

But truth be told, an atmospheric refinery is no different from all those Bush refineries in the Niger Delta. The critical parts of the refinery are not yet functional.

I have being meaning to find out what it actually meant too and it's been skipping my thoughts....

Funny thing is majority of the roads this loan was used for are now terribly bad even worse than it were before.

This guys collected loans for constructions only for them to loot it and use the leftover change to construct rubbish roads all round.

The real objective was obviously the religious sign board, not the road. Most places you see the signboard the asphalt does not pass 0.5 to 1 km. Hence the objective was to maximize the number of religious symbols and normalise an Islamic agenda, just like herdsmen/ bandits terror are now normalized in our minds.
Travel / Re: What Does SUKUK Mean? (Pictured) by GerogeI(m): 2:25am On Dec 18, 2023
SUKUK is what happens when your country stupidly elects a religious bigot, who happens to be from your neigbouring country as leader. He builds no roads, rather erects religious symbols all over the place with 0.5km asphalt. Then tries to build a railway to his real country. Hacks election to hand over to another foreigner. Its a country for cattle, an animal farm of sorts.

I am occupied with thoughts of how I will get or make money, and I told myself that I will just be reading news here without sharing my opinions.

But seeing the nonsense you keep littering Nairaland with forced me to make out time to put you on the right track.

See, let us humans be guided and make judgement based on logic and for the sake of humanity. Let us not make judgement based on the teachings of a religion that was forced on us by those who were more interested in our mineral resources.

For the sake of humanity and reasoning, do you believe that a Creator will create the Cannanites, and instruct the Jews to go destroy and possess their land?

Cannanites are equally humans, the Creator could have preserved them like he preserved the Assyrians through Jonah, if their ways was evil.

When the Isrealites were in exile the Arab Palestinians occupied their land. Is it not natural for people in need of good land to occupy a land that was better and empty?

If it was right for ancient Isrealis to conquer and disposses the Cannanites of their land, why do you think that it is wrong for the Palestinians to occupy the land, without killing anyone, when the Isrealis were in exile?

Why must White Isrealis be God's first born?

Is it abominable for a Black ethnic group to be God's first born?

Majority carries the vote; if majority of Isrealis are against LGBTQ do you think that there parliament would have passed recognition and acceptance of LGBTQ into Law.

Now tell me how a people that see nothing wrong with LGBTQ can be God's first born.

Isrealis do not even want to have anything to do with Black people. They are the same with the Arabs and Palestinians they are fighting with.

We Africans shouldn't take sides in their war.

You are mixing up issues.

Question.
If its acceptable for Romans to drive out Jew's and aid the Palestinians to take over their land, why is it not good also for British to drive out Palestinians and side Jews to take over their old land? Do you realise that it's the same Romans, ( Britain, USA, collective West, western civilization, Romans?)

The only logic is that both groups now have rights to the land. But when ever the the Palestine go trying to kill off isreal. They invoke the rule of might is right, and legitimately loose what ever land they hold.

On the religious side, The main reason God marked said he marked this conflict is just to remind us that He is God, to be revered Nd worshipped. Are you not surprised that some hundreds of years ago, A drove out B, and C occupied. Now A helped B to drive out C and occupy. Isreal conflict is a time marker, it will first see Iran or Turkey trying to destroy isreal. Before Rusiia or USA will try to do it also directly ushering in the war of Armmageddon. After which God will rule the world directly. The struggle for Isreal connotes a more global struggle between God and Advasaries, Isreal is just a physical totem or Icon that represents this struggle.

As for our involvement, it's both religious, ethnic and national. Northern and Western Nigeria was colonised first be Arabs proxies, sons of Ishmael, so they buy into the Islamic world agend, which has been ionised as Palestine. South is first colonised by the West, who adopted yhe spinoff Jewish religion of Christianity. Whose end game Outlook is the new Isreal. How do you sell an Islamic Jerusalem?

It's national because we are discussing nations born out of colonisation. How much more right do Palestinians have be free in their land, than Biafrans have to be free in their land. Especially when the colonised is the same, West, Britain, Romans. So the Double standard is glaring any time your hear of protests for palestine in Lagos or Kano., but protesters for Biafra in Onisha or Aba are shot with live bullets?

It's Racial, because, the West enslaved us black people, but more importantly, the Arabs invented the enslavement of black people. Even Palestinians have a zone marked as quarters for black or slaves. Both Islam and Jewdaisim accept the enslavement of people. But Arabs and Islam equate blacks to slaves. So how do black people in Northern Nigeria accept a religion that regards them as slaves?

Since Jews and Arabs are cousins from Abraham. Does that mean that if jews are black, Arabs should be black too. So both sides of the conflict have been supplanted by Europeans.

Since 1973, the CBN had be artificially pegging the exchange rates , depending on the Foreign Reserves they could afford to defend the rates, mostly to selected few, who would get the exchange rates at official subsidized rates and sold the Forex in black markets.

After almost 50 years of this subsidized exchange rates, the CBN was borrowing Billions of dollars to defend the artificially pegged exchange rates, should the CBN continue to borrow Billions of dollars to 'create cheap dollars' for Nigerians ,so that we can continue to import I-phones, Human Hairs, Expensive Wines, Thai Rice etc?

The corruption in CBN has no direct link the exchange rate. There are many other ways to allow banks handle forex flows independently not CBN.

Defending naira means using your export earnings to pay your import demand. This is not the problem, every country is doing this one way or another.

The problem lies in overcentralization of forex controls where all dollars goes to CBN, and is made available for politicians, who prioritize their access to local value. The consequences is that they artificially devalue the local currency every time their is a pressure of higher import than export.

A simple way to understand this is to compare Nigeria Import /Export Ratio in USD. This Ratio in ideal situation should be the exchange rate of naira to USD.
For 2022, Nigeria imported 56.3 billion USD worth of goods. And exported 46.9 billion USD worth of goods.

Our import exceeds our export by 10.6 billion USD., And the Ratio is is 56.3/46.9=1.2. The USD should be worth 1.2 Naira. Let's consider all the imperfections in the system and make this 10 times worse than ideal. 1 USD should be worth 1.2x10=12 naira.

Let's do a similar Analysis for a comparable African country, Egypt. In 2022 Egypt imported 85.76 billion usd in goods, and exported 51.6 billion USD. Egypt Import Export Ratio for 2022 is 85.76/51.6=1.66
Multiply by 10 to consider real world imperfections, Egyptian pounds should exchange at 16.6 To USD. In reality Egyptian pounds traded at 15 to 1 USD in Jan 2022, and 24 to 1 USD in Dec 2022.

Let's look at South Africa.

Imports 2022 was 136.2 billion usd
Exports 2022 was 122.9 billion usd

Import Export Ratio =136.2/122.9=1.10
Multiply by 10, 1 usd should ideally be 11 rands.
In reality in 2022, 1 usd was 16.88 rands.

These comparisons shows you how well the economy is being managed. For Nigeria instead of 1USD to 12 naira in 2022, we had 740 naira.
Our economy and currency is simply being mismanaged for politics and theft, and its been going on for decades. Currency devaluation not only enables politicians to steal, they use it to please the West. It should banned by law.

When was the last time naira exchanged at 12 naira to 1 USD? How much has the Naira been devalued? As at 2022, it was 740/12×100=6166% devalued.
This is the only reason coins have no value any more.

Someone will come to argue we should use forex earning not import and export. They mirror , so it's same thing. Or they can argue that our population is large. It reflects in the size of our imports, vs local production. The summary is that Nigeria earned only 20% less foreign exchange than it needed for purchases in 2022. How that warrants today's exchange rate of N1150 to usd is a mystery. But that forex is scarce I'd a big fat lie we have at least 80% of what we need.

I thought I mentioned the benefits of floating the naira. I actually cupped it from the Asians. It was at the time when their currency was weak they embarked on industrial growth and advancement. That is, their people started thinking home thus started producing things both for themselves and to export out at the dollar price thereby bringing in more revenue inflow which eventually stabilized their currency but at that time of stability, they already achieved their sustainability.

But the problem with Nigerians is most are corrupt & wicked thus will want to fleece others in the country, not helped by the lack of refineries to ease the cost of fuel which would have also facilitated other factors.

Asians are mostly manufacturers, they have perfected the art of undervaluing their currencies to gain advantage in export if finished goods. This also ensures they can dump into any third developing country. This question is not just about corruption, but poor strategy and policies. Why are bankers manning the CBN? They are merely experts in counting money, not economics?
Politics / Re: Naija: Instead Of Dollars We Can Use Gold as FX by GerogeI(m): 6:39pm On Oct 23, 2023
Dsimmer:

Floating the currency was a good idea if Buhari and his cabals didn't already sell off huge amount of crude oil for looting like Reno Omokri stated. There's little money in the country as we speak thus the floating of currency.

The floating idea is to ensure the more export goods are sold in dollars, it means more naira in the country thus getting a lot of things done. However the problem is Nigeria is more of an importer than an exporter which needs to change. It will also be an avenue to checkmate importers thus making a lot of people think home to export more since they will get more money for their exported products. however the problem is some people in the country are quite corrupt themselves and would even want to use it as an avenue to cause inflation in the country. Besides, the lack of refineries too. Several thought the rehabilitation of Portharcourt refinery was already completed, added with Dangote's refinery but what Tinubu didn't know was none of it was completed, even though Buhari commissioned it.

Point was if there was functional refineries to ensure fuel and even food were cheap in the country, no one would care about dollar rate in the country while more people & industries would spring up and embark on more agriculture for exports, as well as create things to export out while bringing in more money until the dollar to naira eventually fall and stabilize. At that point of stability, there would have been a lot of industrial spring up and agricultural revolution.

Floating of currency means creating a free market to determine the exchange rate. It has no import or xport advanage. Import and export advantage lies in the over valuation (eg. Pound) or undervaluation ( eg. Yuan) of the currency, not the mechanism of price determination whether float of fixed.

Further, Naira as it currently is, is not floating, rather it is under graduated free fall. Because a free market must always balance demand and supply. Its a bit tricky to understand this balance when it comes to currency pairs. Each currency must be freely demanded and freely supplied to the market. CBN has created what it considers a free demand and free supply for foreign currencies, without creating a free demand and free supply for Naira. Fireigners are importing from Nigeria without ouching Naira. This is why the exchange negotiations is against naira. It is not floating, rather it is in free fall.

Read and understand what I have said before talking about whether floating a currency is a good idea. Countries with limited economic leverages do not load their currencies. United Kingdom does not. USA is essentially using military might to force everyone to use dollar. They do not need any float. They can print as much dollar as they want without consequences. Chinese Yuan is devalued because China is a manufacture and wants to dump goods to kill other peoples local industries. So why is Naira to be floated? We are not manufacturers, we are consumers just like UK.

Before I proceed I want to ask a question.

Why are international banks like HSBC, BOA,BOE,BOC,BOI, SA banks not operating in Nigeria?

I feel their presence is highly needed at this stage, may be they will bring in the desired FX into the country and also help their country men remit funds without converting to USD..

To the main topic.

Apart from dollars we can use gold to conduct foreign trades too.. At this stage we have to be innovative..

The good side of gold is it can’t be minted by any nation, etc So we are tied to the USA..

Make I explain well..

The reason the Naira is falling is not because of the small, small goods Okechukwu and Tochi Dey import from China… That’s a very small contributor..

The major contributors to our FX disaster are Foreign remittances of multi national companies and Nigerian companies , importation of raw materials, equipments, fuels, etc.

Not the basic goods we import..

1.So instead of importing fuel with dollars, we can import with gold. It will halt the rise of the dollar against the Naira. Our Arab brothers are using this trick to their advantage.

2. All foreign remittances, buying of raw materials, equipments etc, must also be don via gold..

Abeg no ask me wia dem go get the gold from.

This will halt the death of the Naira and also create new opportunities..

Kindly add yours..

First our GDP is not insignificant, so we do not have forex issue cause if IOCs remittances, but because of a dumb Government, they have no idea of what a free market is. They floated the Naira against foreign currencies which is creating foreign currency demand, without floating foreign currencies against Nairà to create Naira demand in order to arrive at equilibrium pricing.

That's what you are calling IOC remittances. Basically, for you to float your currency, your exports should be in your currency. So foreign importers will approach your banks to get your currency in order to buy your items. They will have to haggle with your bank for an exchange. Basically your banks will be negotiating for more dollars for less Naira in order to make profit. That drives exchange rate in favour of Naira.

But now, we only have local importers going to ask banks for foreign currency, banks and bdcs must make money hence they will negotiate for more Naira for less currency. That drives the exchange rate against the Naira in a bottomless spiral without counter balance.

If you do not have demand for raw local currency, and demand for raw foreign currency in the market, float one of them is a stupid idea, cause there is no counter balance. It is not a free market. In the Current case, the exchange rate will not favour Naira even at 10,000 Naira to 1 usd it will still be sliding down against USD. The fall is bottomless, that why it's stupid plain and simple.

Why do we not have foreign demand for Naira, the Federal Government and politicians want easy access to USD. It makes money laundering easy. If you visit any ministry in Nigeria. Listen to the directors, they do not talk in Naira anymore. They are all dollarized. So just like Russia started selling oil in Rubbles, Nigeria must first sell oil and all other exports in Naira before floating the Naira. That's why past Govt. Maintained fixed exchange cause they want CBN to collect dollars for them. This one still wants CBN to collect USD, but wants to play with the idea of floating Naira to please western interest in devaluing African currencies to get cheap raw materials. Basically it was to buy for the controversial govt. Legitimacy in the eyes of the West.

Only countries with huge manufacturing like China, or Germany can benefit from currency devaluation. Like
you said, Raw materials exporters like us are better of with commodity based currency like gold, which the West have carefully killed since colonisation. If you use any commodity as money, it is resource based economies like Africa that benefit. If you use paper based manipulative currency, the technology based economies like West Benefit.

This warped decision on floating is my only reason to believe that Tinubu was never an accountant.

Politics / Re: Would An Igbo Court Judge This Case Differently? by GerogeI(m): 3:26pm On Oct 14, 2023
A learned Judge making sweeping statements about a people's culture is just an indication of his infantile training, possibly a flagrant display of his ethnicities especially in this era of political forgery.

He is talking about a culture that was established in the absence of biological science and paternity test.

That culture simply says that any child that comes from a married woman belongs to that marriage. Its is not just that the husband is the father, it is also that he cannot reject the child. Where a woman is unmarried, the child belongs to her fathers house.

This culture is single handedly responsible for the fact that we do not have bastards in our society. There is no child that does not belong somewhere, we do not have street kids, living on their own and roaming the streets. Even our orphans have extended family.
For a learned judge to open his mouth an utter such insult on over 20 million people with out any repercussion says so much about the state of Nigerian Judiciary.

The case he was deciding was between a man and woman who are unmarried, not in court and not traditionally. Even the woman giving the children the new husbands name, is not according to Igbo culture. So the judge had no reason to be judging Igbo culture at a magistrate Court. Moreover, the Nigerian law still stipulates that children belong to the man but not to the woman that gave birth to them in 21st century. Is that not evil, mean, inhuman, demonic? That's before we talk about how evil, backward, and recalcitrant a culture is, when it encourages its male demons to make false love proposal to young girls, even its daughters, get them pregnant and Run away, leaving a helpless girl with a life burden of raising a helpless bastard child that she was not prepared for. A life sentence to suffering and poverty. Ask any Nigerian girl about Yoruba demons, like Sanwolu, who is still denying the child he left in Warri! The petrifying part is that demons like Sanwolu, know they can comeback any time they like to claim fatherhood without consequence, thanks to Yoruba culture and Nigeria's archaic patrichial laws. Not so in Igboland, Not so in the Western Society, child bearing comes with responsibilities which must be met either way.

You guys do not understand
As far as the West is concerned our most important export is human resources, not oil. Our past Government and our individual families have spent the last 50 years laying foundation for education. We are highly educated, and are ripe for plucking.

So in the 1700s it was manual labour. In 2000s its intellectual labour. IMF policies are designed to encourage the best and the most educated to leave, move to an OECD country and make economic contribution there. This is the modern rendition of slave trading. Everyday you hear how they do not want immigrants yet they all create one program after another to allow you immigrate as long as you can work with their desired skills. Germany even took in a hoard of Islamic refugees as labourers at the risk of future terrorism.

Unfortunately, visionless leaders like the current ones are the hands that execute these agenda. The end goal is to get the best willing to immigrate for little.

This is an ugly trend we must all do something about before it becomes a trend.

No police or law enforcement is allowed to invade your privacy without a warrant to search. They can only arrest or search without warrant in public or in the act of an offence. But breaking into people's houses hotel rooms without warrant and call it a routine check is unlawful and an abuse of power with far ranging consequences for our collective security.

The way I see it, the police is a far cry from normal. Once EFCC normalises this abuse, ordinary police men will adopt it for extorting people. This is nothing but armed robbery by law enforcement.

Why not? However equity also demands that if you price at state level, the licencing should also be at state levels. States should have the right to choose companies that can offer their citizens value services at optimum price. So they must be able to auction telco licences too.

The decentralisation should be on both the side of the consumer and the provider for a free equitable market.

SpecialAdviser:
Let me ask? They use to tell me that coals are use to tar roads. That's why we call a popular name "corotar" meaning "coal tar".

If true, can Enugu state make use of this with chippings from Ebonyi state to fix our streets? It will be cheaper and we will get most streets fixed.

Next time ask Google, not half smart people on nairaland. One even said coal tar is not used but bitumen.

Coal tar is the reminant by product of the process of turning coal into coke. A pyrosis or destructive distillation of coal where it in heated in non oxidizing atmosphere to produce methane coal gas, Coke and this reminant liquid tar. Coke is used in cement production and iron smelting. So a good guess is that the illegal mining operation is feeding coal to dangote or Unicem cement factories. More on that at the end.

Of course secondary school chemistry will tell you you can do same to ordinary wood and get another similar viscous liquid called wood tar.

When you distill petroleum (crude oil) you are left with an equivalent of its own tar, which basically cannot be broken into smaller usefully products. That's what we call bitumen. It also occurs naturally from aged petroleum deposits. In USA , if its the naturally occurring on, they call it bitumen, the synthetic one from refinery they call asphalt. Internationally, both are called bitumen, and the when mixed with aggregates is called asphaltic concrete.

All these tars are composed of a lot of unknown chemicals both mostly heavy or long chain aromatic hydrocarbons.

Tar concrete was invented using coal tar. And roads were built with coal tar. But the emergence of petroleum refinery industry means that its major waste, bitumen was way cheaper to obtain than coal tar. So the shift to bitumen.

Ultimately coal tar is superior to bitumen as it is more chemically resistant, but costs more.

Back to industry.
It is good that Mba is focusing back on coal. He is looking at coal thermal power. But a low Hanging fruit to pluck is cement and iron. Synergies between Enugu and Ebonyi state can repair and Revive the Old Eastern flag ship- NigerCem with the new owner Ibeto whom Elechi Amadi frustrated all his efforts at the behest of Dangote. NigerCem can control some 20% of Nigeria's cement market. Do not build a new factory, just repair and re-equip the old one.

Dangote, Unicem, Ajoakuta steel, Sokoto Cement all use coal. So investing in a Coal Methanization plant will be a good idea. The methane generated or coal gas can be supplied to factories in Emene, while the reminant is sold as coke to the cent factories.

That is an indefinite pseudo quantitative measure based on individual peculiarities. Someone else might taste and feel salty depending on the tuning of their taste bud.

You cannot insinuate she means the paste has high sugar content by nafdac standards. She was very clear that her observation was based on her taste.

The Erisco peep definitely seems to lack professionals, else they won't go chasing a case they will loose and which will put a real dent on their brand. _ the sugar tomato paste company that arrests consumers for saying what they observe.

You have issues with lactose. And No you are not lactose intolerant as in genetic sense, but yes you have lactose issues.

Do not stop taking milk, and do not take too much milk either. Keep it balanced at least until you do this.

Get a pack of pro-biotics from a dairy country. UK, Netherlands etc. Not USA. Get their average basic prebiotic meant for their local population. Like if you are in UK, do not get one from costly brand, but the basic pro biotics from say Boots pharmacy.

Support it with pasteurised hygeinic fresh milk in your breakfast if you can get your hands on it. After about 6 months you and milk will be good friends. That's how I handled mine.

** a bit explanation. There are microbes and enzymes that help in digestion of dairy products. Blacks generally are low on these. You do not lack them entirely, else you will be getting sick from taking milk. So you need to increase and grow their population. That's why you need probiotics, you can also get them from well fermented yoghurts. Feed them fresh milk to muiltiply. Not all those filled milk in shops which are mostly palm kernel oil.

You are not a judge, nor a police investigator. What authorises this lady to interview witnesses at her sole convinence without any law enforcement or third party. Issuing blatant threats that shows she does not even understand her portfolio. Is she even aware that her private recordings in a case that does not concern her privately are not admissible in court and will be trashed. Some recordings will also show her poor training and interference in court.

Am curious, was this lady Remi Tinubu's Hair dresser?
Politics / Re: Suggest A NEW System Of Government For African Nations by GerogeI(m): 9:24am On Aug 31, 2023
Rossikk:
There’s a growing feeling on the African continent that the imported western systems of govt we operate, be it military regime, presidential system, parliamentary system, etc etc, are not working as well as they should.

We clearly need to devise a home grown system that protects us from corrupt leaders and foreign imperialists looking to exploit our resources.

SO FEEL FREE TO SUGGEST (AND EXPLAIN) YOUR NEW HOME GROWN AFRICAN SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT HERE.

Thanks.

First, neither UK , nor US practices the kind of democracy they sell to us. UK is a constitutional Monarch full of democratic facades. The reality is that 1 in 4 UK prime Ministers are not elected by the people, but by politicians. How is that decomocratic. US president is elected directly by a collage not by the people.

Western ideas of democracy are cloaked Monarchies, and pseudo Monarchs. A president is essentially a one man that decides everything, and frankly that is simply a king limited only by tenure. Further there are unwritten culture and honour system in the west, which protects these institutions but are hardly ever mentioned in why democracy works fir them. That why a western politicians resigns when in controversy.

I doubt one System will fit all of Africa. But for the Igbos, who are traditionally republican, a modernisation of our traditional governance with western structure will work. It works in our markets. The most important element is that one man does not decide for all.

This is what I call a Trinitarian Democracy

So if you take the President or Prime Minister, and replace him with What I call the Trinity. Three persons acting as one power. Much like the Christian Trinity.

Individuals of the three must not be heard or act on their own, doing so will be considered treason. So the Trinity must have two important attachees- 1. A spokesman who speaks on behalf of the three (Aka Eze) and 2. A Defence Commander- who wars on behalf of the three.

This basic Trinity will be cascaded down from the Executive, and replicated at the head of every governance organisation. Including the Legislature and Judiciary. Of course without the Defence Attachee at lower levels of Governance. Three people forming a Trinity as directors of every institution.

Further, the populist elections must be replace by honour elections. To become a member of the Trinity, you must be nominated by others, and their must be no campaign. Only established media organisation may publish factual exposes on candidates. No costly elections. The people will elect members of the Trinity, which must be staggered such that only one member is replace at an time, say every 5 years.

Finally, the Congress of the people must be the highest authority of the land. There must be mechanism for convening Congress of all people without needing the approval of the Trinity of Authority. Decisions of the Peoples Congress supercedes that of the Trinity, and Supreme Court, and must be arrived at by majority vote.

The peoples congress will not apply in multi ethnic setting, rather only a single house legislature applies.

Why three- three is an odd number, the probability of three equals always agreeing is low. It will force decisions to consider compromises, it will force a debate of every decision and it will greatly improve accountability. Ofcourse, Governance will be more bureaucratic cause every decision must be weighted carefully. But Governance will also be more effective and speak durectly to the peoples aspirations. Three agreeing to steal will be harder to hide because they will sooner or later fall out. Even when they agree to steal, once one is replaced, there will be fire.

(If you are a Christian, you will notice this governance structure is simply morphying the head of every authority from an individual to a composite modeled after The three God Heads, Arch Angel Gabriel as speaking attachee, and Arch Angel Micheal as Defence attachee at the Apex level only.)

Politics / Re: Running Petrol Generator Is Still Cheaper Than LPG. by GerogeI(m): 7:07am On Jul 31, 2023
jFrankNorfleet:
Workch. I've tested this personally. I bought the gas carburettor from Oyingbo, got the cylinder, regulator, hose and clip. Got it installed and filled the gas for 12Kg. Didn't last long and my installer said perhaps I was cheated by those that filled the gas cuz I filled it at roadside gas shop. I then went to Mobil Filling station to fill it to the brim and the dispenser read 16.19KG. this I thought would make me know if it truly saves money. Went to my business and told my worker there to take note of each time he switches on or off the generator. I discovered it finished after 11 hrs 30 minutes. I bought the gas for 10,400. If I buy petrol and fill my tank to the brim it'd be 9,700 and that lasts me up to 14-15 hours which means it's better to use fuel in my experience than gas although someone said it might be because I open the regulator fully that I should open it halfway or something but I doubt it'd make any difference

For all those complaining about it not lasting. Check your cylinder, you still have about 20% of the gas as residue, mainly the heavier components of the lpg that cannot vaporize into gas.

The whole setup for Nigeria, need to incoporate a vaporiser, taking liquid from the cylinder, using exhaust heat to warm it up before feeding it to engine as vapor. This is peculiar for tropics where LPG is propane +butane. Those carburettors we buy are designed for temperate regions where LPG is just Propane, no need for vaporisation. This is also the reason the cylinder sweat. The gas molecules absorb heat from the sorround metal in order to evaporate and fill the vaccum as your engine draws out the already formed vapor. The cylinder becomes colder than air as it losses heat, so water vapour in air condenses on the cylinder surface as a symptom.

Does this Man have an iota on how much South East has lost due to the dilapidated state of Enugu Onitsha Express Way Road? Where Buhari and Fashola have been playing in the sand for 8 years, mounting SUKUK I to SUKUK 1000 sign board every 100 yards Just to tell us its Islamic Loan as if we will reject it. Oya, build the road now, no way! They went to complete Ibadan and start railway to Niger Republic.

Does Ben Kalu know how much that has cost Businesses in Enugu, Anambra and Ebonyi who directly depend on that road.

What of the incessant attack and kidnapping by heards men - how much has that cost us in the last 8 years?

Or the dysfunctional military and police check points. At the boundary of Enugu and Anambra in Ugwuoba you have a check point every 100 yards. How much does that cost South East Businesses?

The COAS is just helping to enforce the sit at home.

your point is wrong and you are being persistent.
If only igbos make up 45% of lagos in your brain, that means yorubas must be 25% because I'm sure you know there are hausas and other Nigerians as well in Lagos.
This is the type of village reasoning that makes people insult us.
Igbos that marry in their 30s and are monogamous have the highest fertility rate in the world?
This is my last reply to you. You started reasonably but your train of thought have so derailed, I can't deal with it.
Bye
I Gave you a link to Lagos State Gov making the claim, but you know better grin

Stop pulling stats from your ass mister. The 21.7 million is a 2023 figure. The 2006 figure was 15.8 million from the census.
In 1953 when the census put the eastern region at 7.2 million, majority of people were living in their regions..lagos population was about 200k
If everybody living in the Eastern region in 1953 was igbo, following the trend of population for Malaysia and Ghana, we would still just be roughly 30 million today.
Surprisingly if you add the official 2023 population figures for the remaining 4 states that made up the eastern region with SE's 21.7 million, the figure is 39.8 million, which I believe is highly inflated for oil money sharing purposes.

Igbos living all over the world put together are not more than 30 million and that's me being super generous. More like 25 million.
Please stop replying me with your phantom figures that only exist in your head.
You posted what you stated was 2006 figure. I used it you complain.
Oya lets go back to 2006

https://nigeria.opendataforafrica.org/ifpbxbd/state-population-2006

Imo 3.937M
Anambra 4.118M
Enugu 3.268M
Ebonyi 2.177
Abia 2.845

Total 16.345

Atleast 25% of Delta
0.25x4.122=1.028
At least 50% of Rivers
0.5x 5.199=2.559
45% of Lagos
0.45x 9.114=4.101
You will argue so here is a link https://www.nairaland.com/1379706/finally-finally-acn-lagos-confirms

There are small Igbo populations in Benue, Cross River and Akwa Ibom, Edo which i will round up to just 1M across-the-board.

Total as of 2006 = 25.033M
At 2.4% annual growth rate

Thats 1.024^17X 25.033= 37.46M
Considering all errors of census, we have not even accounted for Igbos in Dispora, plus our growth rate will be above Nigeria,s average as we live in rain forest with well documented high fertility rate. And the figure is shy of 40M by just 2.54M. I think my point is again well established.

OK but can you tell me this. How come the eastern region census in 1953 which included South Cameroon was 7 million. Malaysia and Ghana with similar population and birth rate are now 30 million and 27 million respectively but 65% of eastern region's population has now grown suddenly to 40million?,
The official Nigerian census of 2006 and projection of population growth says that south east population is 21.7 million which follows logically from the 1953 census...but you somehow know that we are 40 million instead. How did only you come to know this? Holy spirit?
M
Like you said 21.7M for Igbos in South East.
More than 50% of River State is Igbo, More than 25% of Delta State are Igbos, about 45% of Lagos are Igbos. Thats Roughly additional 8M people, almost 2 decades ago. Using a total of 21.7+8=>28M Igbos in 2006, the population growth rate average for Nigeria is 2.4% per annum.
Over 17 years thats 28M x 1.024^(17)= 41.9M

there are at least 1 million people on that register who are dead. 1 million people who are not igbo, 2 million people who are registered to vote in the east but live outside the east.
But another way of knowing population is by comparing historic figures and looking at trends.
The entire eastern region was 6.5 million in 1953 when British did census. The figure was similar to Ghana and Malaysia's population at the time.
Malaysia is currently 30 million. Ghana is 27 million. But in your opinion, only 60% of the Eastern region is 40-50 million? Lol bruh 🤣

Your assumptions are far fetched. Death rate is less than birth rate in West Africa, so the dead on that list are irrelevant. There is no basis for you to assume 2 million people on the list live outside. Are you aware of the high rate of Igbo venture failure in places like Lagos, Abuja and Kano, especially with antagonistic State government as you have in Lagos. A good number if people relocate back home annually due to business failure, they well balance your number of people registered but living outside the east.

It shall be Biafra. And Biafra it shall remain. We are not going to change the name. Biafra is the state. Igbo is the people. It serves a higher purpose to retain the name Biafra which has earned a notable place in world history. So many works have been written on the Biafra War; a whole body of literatures have been churned out by both African and Western writers on the Biafra War which now already constitutes a separate course of research in the study of wars and political crisis in post-colonial Africa. There is a body of water known all over the world by sea men as "the Bight of Biafra." It is very rich in history. We do not want to throw away all that. Biafra is a unique brand; a brand that speaks volumes for itself. We must uphold it and hold it out as our sacred identity. We must be broad-minded enough to transcend the primordial identities of nature and ascend to higher intuitions and higher levels of contemplations of ideals which are not ready-made in our natural reality. Nature has made us Igbos, let us happily transcend our Igboness, and by ourselves proudly make ourselves Biafrans as our own unique way of demonstrating our advancement in sociopolitical engineering in expression of that useful creativity which is naturally inherent in us as a raw gift of nature. We become what we decide to become. God has given us that charge. We should be unfolding triumphantly, appropriating, assimilating and integrating into our existence every concepts and constructs; notions and thoughts; impressions and images; marks and character; designations and epithets which rightly speak the truth about us and our evolution as a people.
We are Biafrans by trademark. We are Igbos by forename. Biafra is the surname. Igbo is the first name. We are Biafrans by choice. It is nature which has made us Igbos. We will utilize our Igboness to give vent to and fervently dramatize, proudly affirm and intensely register our Biafran identity before the eyes and reckoning of the peoples of the world. Igbo is what we are; Biafra is our tool of collective self expression. Igbo is who we are; Biafra is the beautiful uniform by which we are known.

Nice write up. Surely you gave it serious thougth. However, Biafra was Choosen to include all the ethnic nationalities south of Igboland, especially the Efik and Ibibio. The day that reality is no longer tenable, there is no need to carry foward another colonial identity crisis in the guise of Biafra. It has no impact on the history or our ownership of the Biafra War, nor its study. Rather the evolution of the name highlights over 50 years of British propagander and attempt to Isolate Igbos into five states in Nigeria. And possibly changing the minds of Ibibios, Efiks and Ijaws.

Before Portuguese came to west Africa, we had a name. Every sub national had a unique identity and refered to others as Igbos as detailed by Oludah Equiano. We called ourselves Igbo, nobody named us. And our country is Alaigbo. We do not need to invent or adopt an identity when its us alone.

You are not entirely correct.
The position of IPOB is to have a Biafra confederacy between Igbos and other ethnic nations of the Niger Delta and the lower part of the Middle Belt as the first line of choice.
Where that is not possible, the ultimate line of choice is to have the Biafran State with boundaries coinciding with the natural boundaries of Igboland and Igbo territories which is made up of land of the Igbos and all the Igboid peoples of Southern Nigeria

So far, the position which IPOB has canvassed vigorously is the first position.

Today, simple wisdom as well as accumulated lessons in hindsight is pointing us strongly to the fact that the only feasible choice to make is to push for an Igbo only Biafra. It is an Igbo State of Biafra that we are going to have. We really do not have a choice any more in that respect. Our best interests shall be served the most in a homogeneous nation with common sociocultural bond animating and driving our zeal for intensified efforts at aggressive nation building and progressive strides in all the noble goals and higher pursuits of human civilization. We will never accept anything short of this. Any attempt to grab our land and territories away from us in the name of "South-South" shall be firmly rejected and strategically resisted.
We will never grow weary of making our case!

South-East is not comprehensively Igboland. It is a political creation of Nigeria. Igboland was recognized as "the Eboe territories" in most of the historical accounts and narratives documented on the trading expeditions of the Portuguese in West Africa. That was long before Nigeria was created.

The proposal made to Nnamdi Kanu by the evil government led by Mr Booharry was not an Igbo republic of Biafra. If it were so, he would have embraced it with joy and gladness. He was offered a made-in-Nigeria South-East state of Biafra. I want to believe the difference is clear enough to you. No sane Igbo man will accept to have a Biafran Nation with boundaries defined by that geopolitical zone which Nigeria calls the South-East. Igboland goes far beyond the South-East stretching as far as the fringe parts of Edo State, a great deal of Rivers State and reasonable swathes of land in Cross River State and Akwaibom States, and also the eastern border parts of Benue State.

If Nnamdi Kanu was offered the natural territories of the Igbo people, he would have congratulated himself and every one in Igboland for having obtained a beautiful ending to the Biafra story.
Nigeria hypothetically offered to have a false Biafra Nation come into being; the one where the South-East would be rebranded, baptized and christened "Republic of Biafra," a clever decoy aimed at scoring a useless point in the eyes of the international community. They did what they did knowing quite very well that Kanu was going to reject it in a heartbeat. They did it deliberately to create a symbolic reference point in history that they already accepted to let Biafra go but Igbos rejected it because of their lust for the oil-rich lands of the Niger Delta. This reference point is patently false, and mischievous. It was a game plan originating from Nigeria's long-standing political doctrine of distortion and perversion of truth; a state standing rule of crafts and artifice; powered by a psychology falsehood and false pretenses.

How can you steal my property and offer me half of what you stole from me in exchange for peace and reconciliation. Where on earth does that happen? Only in Nigeria, a land where logic is constantly made to stand on its head as a matter of course, and as a matter of norm.

Biafrans are no fools. We are no simpletons. No strain of lies and subterfuge, no amount devilry from Nigeria's propaganda mill will ever suffice to move us even as little as by a hair's breath into accepting to have a Biafra with boundaries delineated along the artificial lines of the South-East geopolitical zone. That will never happen. It is never in the place of Nigeria to define Igboland for us. There are records with ancient maps clearly showing the stretches and extents of the "Eboe territories." There shall be absolutely no controversy about it. The facts are very clear, crystal clear!

And if it is only Igbo areas, then our country shall be called Alaigbo not Biafra. Her people called Igbos.

Further why would we need to steal oil from Ijaws or Ibibios when our Anambra Basin is full of oil which the British avoided carefully knowing they sponsored and funded the civil war for 220 million pounds they invested in Ijaw land. They were afraid of investing in our lands. Imo Basin is full of natural gas. While the rest of the land between Anambra and Enugu is full of source rocks for shale gas, proof is the abundance of coal in Enugu and lignite in Anambra. Coal is just an overly matured snd overly compressed oil source rock. Lignite is unmatured coal, so still has a lot of gas.
Ebonyi is the only state without oil, but they make up for it with every other mineral from cameroon volcanoes- limestone, granite, salt deposites, clay- very high quality refractory clay.

Your point are valid but be kind to remove the military years as that can't be justifiable in the calculations .. I know Oga Obi stepping down for Oga Atiku might not look viable and very uncomfortable for me , but before the election, I didn't see Oga Obi having enough support in the North, and Nigeria election is not always about facts or figure, it is more of rub my back I rub yours. I am at least happy Oga Obi made appreciable progress and I am sure if you keep reaching out as a people while keeping no house in order with no divided tongues, you will get a seat at the table but with a proviso that you key into the Nigeria project accommodating all tongues and tribe , not aggregating all the resources and accolades to yourself.

An Idealization that is not possible and leads to no where except elites sharing oil earning. Igbo culture has no accomodation for any ideology that does not seek to achieve the best. We will alway strive for better, so mediocre life in the name of a table is not for us. We understand well since 1969 that this is the British design in Nigeria, a self limting aggregation and we want out at all cost.
