Divide Okpoko Area into about 50 sectors or area. And start Redevelopment and Relocation serially and in stages.

2. Relocate to where? There is a river running from Ojoto down to Obosi emptying into the Niger, its flood banks is still undeveloped and offers space for new developments. People have bought up the area and walled, but the Givernor should revoke the occupancy and compensate.

3. Plan the Area, and appoint developers who can source their own funds and develop high rise residential blocks in this area with world class organisation. Minimum of 20 floors. Remember to account for parks and green spaces in the plan.

5. Design a new plan for Okpoko area as a Corporate business district, something Onitsha lacks at the moment.

6. Conduct an enumeration exercise in Okpoko as is currently, identify structure that do not fit or meet the minimum requirement for the new plan.

7. Revoke occupancy and Evict the occupants of the Okpoko structures (except the few fitting buildings, should be less Ghana 20%) , Compensate them with new apartments developed by the appointed third parties in the residential area along the river Bank. Do this in sectors to allow people adjust easily to the new realities.

8. For each Sector Evacuated, Auction the old space in Okpoko for re-development as a Business District, in line with a masterplan. Because Okpoko is already a mature brownfield, proceeds from the auction should be able to pay off debt of the state for both the new Apartment blocks used for Evacuation and the compensation paid to initial land holders in the River Bank.

My Dad owns a large cashew farm which occupies most of our farm land. Thereby, depriving us of growing food crops in those areas. With the spike in the price of cashew seeds, it always saddens me when I recall how those trees has been failing us.

As at 3 years ago, we realized 11 bags of the seed. Subsequently, the yield has decreased drastically. We got only 5 bags this year which has become the worst of all. Funny enough, more cashew trees are grown every year. Some of the trees don't bring out flowers at all. whereas, some will and the flowers dry off later.

The prolonged winter, which led to elongated Harmattan btw Dec and Jan, to early Feb did not go down well with fruiting of cashew trees. Generally there is a very low yield all across so its not just your Dads farm. The weather was cooler (I love it though) and less favourable to cashews.

He even told me he is tired of life, he wants to commit suicide. Anxiously, I asked “What do you do with all these cash?” He claimed he spent it on his Masters program.

It was hard to believe, I kept pressing, he later confessed he actually spent the money on dates and hook-ups. Whenever he need to fck, he will just go online order for girls and look for a loan company and apply. He get the cash immediately. He also sponsored one of his girlfriends birthday by getting soko instant loan.

The final shocker of my life came when he mistakenly said “As I am now, 40 Loan companies are after my life. I am considering suicide sef”. It was as if somebody slapped me. I first thought he was joking. I asked “Are loan companies in Nigeria even up to 40?”. He answered “they are more than 300 sef”. Imagine, these mdfckin Loan companies where just disbursing cash to this idiat.
The mdfckin didn’t know why I was looking dejected. He thought I was sad for him, he didn’t know I was scare of all the 40 Loan companies coming to threatening me later.

I am really in soup. How do I protect myself from these Loan Companies.

If you did not intentionally sign to Gurantee someone and indemnify someone, under which law will police arrest you? The loan company cannot even convince any DPO to look for you talkless of arrest.

Secondly, your friend that even took the loan, I thought he was taking advantage of the legal anomaly under which these lian companies operate to collect money, not knowing its an addiction.

Most of the loans are not enforceable under any law. 1. The company operating the loan is not licenced as a financial institution in Nigeria
2. The online fast loan disbursement means adequate evaluation of the debtors ability to pay back was never done, hence the company took this risk willingly.
3. The application for loan, done online, and verified online, means the loan company could have been scammed.

Ultimately, the loan company can only do social damage not legal damage. The law does not jail a debtor, rather sets a repayment schedule at a rate the debtor can afford. As far as I am concerned, if you have nothing to loose socially, you can take these online free loans.

So far I have not heard of anybody jailed for taking a loan from them.

Russia only has wishful thinking. Italy, the second biggest buyer of Russia oil has declined to pay in rubble. Germany has threatened to take Russia to court of arbitration.
