pansophist:I wanted to tag you seeing the new developments in the Russian-Ukraine war. Na you be baba. Well done!🙌🏿 As for high chips and the etching machines, those are only a matter of time. The West thought the Chinese are stoopid or could be bullied. They will see the much more determined side of them going forward. |
For a 50-year-old man, he looks really handsome and fit. Moreover, he's rich and famous. Enough lessons to learn. Congratulations to 2Baba and his new wife. |
blackbriar:This is something our people should know when they trump nursing as a highly paid profession. Nursing only pays well in the US and nowhere else in the world. |
timilehin007:In the UK: https://www.beta.ons.gov.uk/aboutus/transparencyandgovernance/freedomofinformationfoi/nigeriansintheuk#:~:text=The%20number%20of%20people%20that,0.5%25%20in%20England%20and%20Wales.&text=The%20figures%20provided%20are%20for%20England%20and%20Wales. At 500K, it means Nigerians will shoot up the percentage of Blacks in both countries and in the case of the US would constitute a conspicuous demography amongst Black people. This will raise eyebrows. https://www.pewresearch.org/race-and-ethnicity/fact-sheet/facts-about-the-us-black-population/ https://www.nbcnews.com/news/nbcblk/pew-9-percent-u-s-black-population-foreign-born-n338391 Let's fear God in our statements on Obasanjo's Internet. |
ednut1:Then, how many Nigerians are in the US (first, second and third generations)? |
RodgersAkpafu:Okay. Thanks for the correction. Just that my residence in this part of the world as a black person makes me see non-natives as immigrants regardless of how long they live in those lands. If Chinese generations old still consider themselves Chinese even being Japanese passport holders, why should a Black person see him/herself as a "Japanese"? Second, these ones are very antagonistic towards immigration because they can see the undesirable behaviour in some, and how it can mess up the collective image of everyoneThey have been accused of being Uncle Toms, Coons and Coconuts. Abi no be so? You see, this is the lopsided way of debating from so-called liberal parties' supporters that I detest. When someone makes reference to how some immigrants behave, others call him/her coons or isn't this the criticism towards Kemi and Co? Just because one is an immigrant or someone of foreign descent does not mean the person MUST or SHOULD always support the ideals or movements of newer immigrants who the person shares ancestry with. This person of foreign descent in most cases pledges allegiances to the host nation rather than the parent's home - home of the newer immigrants. Due to the liberalisation of funds, and reduction in gate keeping, millions of dregs have been able to migrate across the world over the last 5 to 6 years. These dregs have ruined it for everyone. 'm saying this to counter that point of yours where u said older immigrants were the same. Look at Canada for your reference. Immigrants have been pouring in since the 2000s, but the newcomers post covid are the ones who messed everything for everyoneIt was the lovey-dovey Liberal parties that opened the doors - that is where the blame should lie. If borders are tightened, they are called racists. I have long stated on NL that tighter immigration policies bring in the best and brightest migrants. Singapore is a clear example. The kind of Nigerians you will see there differ significantly from those in Malaysia. Tighter immigration policies benefit both the host nation and the immigrants it receives. Also stiffer penalties on crimes regardless of the colour of skin or religion the immigrant has/professes. See Sweden. Crime should never be condoned. But lovey-dovey says otherwise. U know what it means for a conservative govt to sanction mass immigration back in the day?The same Conservative Party lovey-dovey Nigerian-Americans and their Ikoyi Branch members on TwitterNG vilified because it called for stricter screening abi tightening of the process in Canada? Too many people are ignorant of the whole issue and believe one must support open borders or leniency of immigration rules simply because one is an immigrant. That said As to your last point I really doubt that the black brits coming up will wanna leave because right now, they are getting more representation in media, TV et al.....A Chunks and Filly for example would have been inconceivable just 17 years agoGood to note, and good luck to them. But nothing defeats a prosperous and functioning sub-Saharan Africa. Mainland China has shown it to all Chinese whether in the US, Malaysia or Chile. |
RodgersAkpafu:I have been too lazy to check if there is a research or study that has covered the bold, but it is something that resonates with many immigrant populations across the world. They become more anti-immigrant than the natives/locals. To their support, some of the newer immigrants bring along unfavourable cultural characteristics which clash with the existing order. But these older immigrants also brought theirs as well, but acclimatisation/assimilation changed everything. Others do not want competition for scarce resources or resources that have historically been meant for immigrants. Some don't want others to also participate in it. They want it to be a luxurious phenomenon. Heck, some luxury goods companies lost shares because their products became too "mass market". I have read on TwitterNG where an influencer was lampooned for advertising the route to migrate as an English teacher to Japan. Na so life be. If I were a Black Brit, I would exit the country, and most importantly, to a place in the tropics. They have got the British education, experience, accent and passport. Utilise it to one's advantage. On Instagram, I saw a stat where it stated 250K Brits now live in the UAE. When Hong Kong was still under the cultural influence of the UK, many worked there. When the economy was really good in Singapore, many did. When the yen was strong, many did worked in Japan. These are mostly White Brits. Black Brits should do the same. After all, most of our celebrities were born and bred in the UK or lived there while they were much younger. |
meobizy:I never knew the meaning of that line when I was much younger, but with age, I realised it and that's what I want. |
At my present age and state of mind, I will do the same. |
tensazangetsu20:Experienced folks can do this if the school is well rated. For instance, an MBA at Imperial College London or Cambridge University MBA. I no too certain about master's courses these days in the abroad except in the US, and the job hunting advice applies as well. |
Two useless and unfortunate human beings. Useless modafvckers especially OP. What happened to condoms? What about to ensuring she takes the drug in your presence? |
Irony1:Onne receives vessels, I don't know where you got the information that it doesn't. Arise IPP is legit as it has initiated several industrial estates and production sites across Africa. It even has a project in Ogun state. |
Just as TuFace ushered in the baby-mama culture amongst male celebrities, Ini Edo and Chika Ike would usher in female celebrities having children without their sperm owners to be known. A new style of parenting has emerged. |
Gerrard59:Based on an ongoing experience from my dear friend in Canada, this advice is extremely important. If you are coming to the abroad and wish to remain aka get a job, especially a good job, begin your job hunting immediately after you arrive. I will make a much longer post in my diary, but in a summary: - If your postgraduate study is for a year, commence the job hunt before you enter the country. - If your postgraduate study is for two years or more, begin the job hunt the day after you arrive the country. |
codemaniacs:We produced goods that had high value in the international market before the onset of crude oil exports. But this your "others are not Black Africans, while we are Black" is very self-defeating, I no lie you. This means, according to you o, we can never be prosperous? |
Favor99:So the slaughtering of people in Plateau, Benue and other parts of Nigeria is below where Nigerians have been murdered outside Nigeria? |
codemaniacs:While a drastic devaluation is bad for the economy and inhabitants, the major problem we have is that we are not a production oriented country. We don't manufacture as much as India and we still import some produce even when we were once a major producer or actually the number one producer. We produce cassava more than any country, but Thailand Vietnam export more derivatives of cassava than we do. We import ethanol and cassava starch. We imported 20BN worth of palm oil. A devalued naira would be beneficial once we become more productive. The JPY and SK WON are very devalued, but they are highly productive countries. China still maintains a devalued Yuan. The naira's value isn't the problem, but our production levels. |
codemaniacs:In that case, there is nothing like racism as well. Black people should sit in their countries rather than move to the white man's land then lament racism every 2 seconds. The person I quoted lived in the UK. |
malali:Worse have happened to Nigerians living in other parts of Nigeria. When Fulanis slaughter Berom folks in Plateau? What do you call that? The average Black African has no moral right to call a White man racist. |
malali:Coming from a renowned tribalist, this is a hypocritical statement. Blacks live much safer lives in white dominated countries than in their own black dominated environments. |
Jerrite:Well well well. Buhari got a huge support from that part of the country. |
tiswell:Very important questions to ask. |
The TwitterNG man supports APC. When we were lamenting that Buhari empowered his brothers to destroy people's farmlands and investments, we were called wailers and IPOB. Enjoy what you supported! No pity or sympathy whatsoever! People in Benue and Plateau have suffered worse. |
elipheleh:Lies. Most men married and brought their wives to the abroad, even as students. Only those wey follow illegal routes don't do such. ALL the Nigerian men and even other African men who married took their wives along. One even fast-tracked his wife's papers faster than I expected. The other married in absentia and says he has started processing her papers. The one in the US moved for PhD studies and brought his wife the following year. The Nigerian professor carried his wife all the way from MSc to PhD to postdoc (all in Germany) to his assistant professor job here (Japan) and has later moved to the US. The Senegalese I knew married and brought his wife immediately. As a matter of fact, ALL the Nigerian PhD students I came across and knew except one got married and brought their wives over while they were PhD students. The ones from secondary school to university that I follow on social media all live with their wives from the US to Dubai to UK to Germany etc. ALL brought their wives because they are legal residents. Nothing stops a legal resident from bringing his/her spouse. |
Nairaland is still running because there's no competition. It's literally Nigeria's indigenous-owned DISCUSSION FORUM. Most importantly, it came when Internet penetration wasn't widespread. So there has been an accumulation of information resources over 5 years from 2005 to 2010 followed by the widespread penetration of the Internet and proliferation of affordable smartphones. It's the information resource that's the asset of Nairaland. Hence, any Google search about any topic from a Nigerian perspective brings up Nairaland. No other social media site can defeat it. Also remember that it's largely anonymous, thus, commentators can express themselves to a great extent. |
The way we throw up figures in the country eh. No proper assessment of their networth and major investments. And as a poster mentioned, each entrepreneur is worth $50M less than the previous one, which is quite hilarious but interesting. |
Sterope:Preach for those at the back. |
Tightpussy2024:This is borderline misandry. Sometime ago on Twitter, someone said that most men refrain from rape not because of the damage it does to women but the repercussions they will face with the law and their reputations and careers.Generally, humans will behave lawlessly if their actions have no consequences. Was it not on this forum that a man was grooming his wife niece, made porn of both of them and his wife reported to the police and they were calling the wife wicked and accusing her of hatred for her man for not protecting her home and man.Wow! I didn't see this news. But this is largely a Nigerian and developing countries' problem which is partly associated with weak institutions and an archaic culture. Or the politician that jailed a man for 8 months for resigning and people were supporting the politician because the resignation letter was rude.A Nigerian issue. I doubt this can happen in South Africa or even Namibia. Will they show sympathy to a woman whose nudes is exposed on the internet and they would show empathy to male perpetuators of sexual violence? Will they not deman accountability? If a lady WILLINGLY exposes her nudes or nude like photo to the public, she is entirely at fault. A man who does such with a lady's photo should be punished according to the law. Perpetrators of sexual violence should be dealt with thoroughly, brutally, ruthlessly and mercilessly. It is a hill I am willing to die on. Born as a woman,or a child or an underprivileged person in patriarchal country is God's way of bullying you.Partly one of the many reasons I don't believe in the "heaven" and "hell" concepts. Some countries are heavens, while others are hell. There is patriarchy and there is patriarchy.some patriarchy get levels .in a typical sharia system, men like this will be stoned to deathAs seen here, it is largely a cultural, economic and institutional problem. In these societies too, there are clauses which come across as abhorrent elsewhere. |
MILF! ![]() I'm sure there are many of her types in the country. So many things to enjoy about Nigeria. |
Neddstark:You people are very wicked o. Someone sodomised a minor and that's the best thing you could utter? What does having homosexuals in authority got to do with raping a minor? |
dettolgel:With the rate of unfortunate japa within the past five years, expect a return of criminally minded and culturally deviant Nigerian diasporans in the near future. They will spread very unNIgerian behaviours in the country. |
LARRYOBRAIN:He's actually one of them. |
