SINisSIN:He did Nursing, not data science or cybersecurity management. Nursing does not require basic knowledge of mathematics. Please re-read the comment you quoted. P.S. Nurses earn poorly in Nigeria. |
Nnamdipapa:Simply easy to judge based on how the country is run. My argument regarding respecting elders is simple: provide economic prosperity and respect will follow. Spoil the country kpata kpata and any disrespect is perfectly okay. Most importantly, the thread is a cultural problem with our people. They have this arrogant belief that one's stance should not be questioned when aired. As far as I am concerned, everyone's comment should be questioned especially when made in public. Every ideology or belief or stance should be thoroughly questioned. No ifs or buts! |
Drella:I was shocked when I saw that comment because Shell paid almost that amount way before Corona outbreak. So how come the same is still paid in 2025? Before Corona, Total paid the highest at 2M per month. So how come others haven't attained the same salary level? Someone mentioned Schlumberger paying 1.7M for entry level. Assuming that is true, there is no way an exploration firm will pay lower than a servicing company since both are MNCs. Even the 800K should be for others, not Seplat, as it paid 500K in 2017/8, and Seplat was/is Nigeria's biggest indigenous oil company. |
Drella:Management consulting is different from corporate finance and modelling. The modelling you mentioned is the bread and butter of core financial services/investment banking firms, which is not the bread and butter of oil and gas companies. That is why they don't recruit such people for entry-level roles, which aren't that plentiful to start with in such companies. |
Mindlog:Fair deal then. An MBA is a pricey degree. Anyone who spends on such without assessing the ROI, anything the person sees, let him/her take it like that. P.S. Your signature is a startling figure. We no try. |
LordAdam16:Pansophist deserves an award, and hopefully in the near future, I will gift him a nice and gift. His arguments and positions changed a lot for me. |

Just because someone is older doesn't mean the person has sense. If your position is logical and rational, debate accordingly. The belief that you or your comments shouldn't be questioned simply because you're older is baseless. It's the Internet - a public space. If you don't want your comments to be debated against/for, argue inside your house. |
Drella:Yes, but a superior work experience from a notable consulting firm and stellar education qualifications (MSc/MBA from good schools o)/relevant industry certifications such as ICAN, CFA etc. |

NICOGRAVITY:Those courses need someone who is well grounded in foundational and advanced mathematics. It is not everyone that is like that. As for nursing, it only pays well abroad, especially in the US. Nurses are poorly paid in Nigeria. |
purples25:When they promoted OS, I wondered why they believed they wouldn't marry OS. Damn! It is tiring to hold conversations with dishonest people. Men literally support the sex industry, so lamenting that women are sexually loose is a stoopid ideology to hold. |
DJInfluence:Business Administration then do your ICAN before graduation. Be well-grounded in mathematics. This is important during job hunting. Industrial and HRM is good, but ensure you are on track to do CIPM before graduation. Marketing and Public Admin aren't so good unless you are dead-sure of making a high CGPA, and again, be well grounded in your mathematics. That is the koko if you want a good job. |
Mindlog:Which school did they do their MBAs at? Let's be detailed when narrating incidents. |
purples25:One thing you should realise is that is the average Nigerian is very dishonest and highly hypocritical. I don explain tire, but dem no wan understand. It is that cognitive dissonance that bothers me. A simple analogy is ExxonMobil criticising the very existence of Schlumberger. Exxon can criticise the quality of service but never the existence of that service because it (Exxon) depends on it and patronises it. Imagine me criticising a chef for cooking a soup l like meanwhile, I buy that soup every day! Our people are just so dishonest and hypocritical for people who claim to be religious. |
RodgersAkpafu:I am not looking at Asians with favoured eyes. I am saying everyone is now hustling on steroids, and those who have been at the top should realise and accept it, rather than fight against it. China and the rest of the world hustling/working hard to deliver prosperity to their people are here to stay. It is 2025, not 1945. |
RodgersAkpafu:What are these "intangibles"? I would like to know. Hustle and Grit will only take you so farHustle and grit from overfed Europeans against raw grit from Vietnamese and Chinese? lol Already, they have eyeing Russian gas. The same gas they accused Indians of profiting from. Intellectual Property, the Right cultural mix and other intangibles are the sweet spots thar Europe/America can still play to keep them aheadChinese nay Asian students/researchers produce a significant proportion of the IP in the West, the same group they want to expunge from their institutions. Donald Trump started this during his first tenure, the UK followed by the Dutch and then the Swiss. As for the new IP, it is coming from China, and at a cheaper rate which will erode the profit margins of their counterparts in the West. Already, Western battery and EV makers have realised they cannot advance without China's technical know-how. The Economist, a renowned Western mouthpiece, has admitted grudgingly that China is the world's science factory. In solar, lithium battery tech, windmills and almost every tech except aircraft engineering (with Boeing falling like dead birds) and EUV, China dominates. https://www.economist.com/science-and-technology/2024/06/12/china-has-become-a-scientific-superpower The right cultural mix? Honestly, I am lost here. Japan was hailed back then as the power that will overtake the westIt was forced to sign the Plaza Accords, has no nuclear weapons and has American military bases. China is not signing any similar deal, possesses nuclear weapons and has no foreign military base. The same complaint the US is making against China was meted towards the Japanese. Also, as I have stated, the Chinese unlike the Japanese have spread out to far-flung places like Peru, Ghana, Serbia, Indonesia etc. I even read a new lithium battery/EV-related factory has been opened in Morocco owned jointly by a Chinese firm and a Moroccan entity. In Nigeria, the Chinese co-own a port and have interests in Namibia. They have DRC on lock, ditto Guinea Bissau. In Tanzania, they have signed a deal to build a railway connecting minerals to the nearest port. Mind you. this rail line was first constructed during the '70s when the same West mocked the development. Then in 2022/23, a US-supported deal managed by Emiratis and Indians got involved in Lorbito. I bet the Chinese will complete theirs before that one which transverses through Angola. And oh, in Zimbabwe, the Chinese run a lithium processing facility. China the sameWorld's biggest trading partner that exported almost a trillion dollars worth of goods last year. World's biggest manufacturing nation. Everyone's biggest trading partner without bombs thrown at them or told to do eligibility. |
Mammangaddafi:This is an ignorant and somewhat arrogant statement to make. |
nedekid:Damn! Prostitution is a dangerous work, especially in a country as Nigeria. No wonder the rates are so exorbitant. |
Very pitiable. Tomorrow, the same Nigerian men go dey complain say women no dey gree follow them to their houses. Why would they when the same men are slaughtering them and have unflinching support to do so? Honestly, it's pathetic that this happens frequently across the country. It leads to a distrustful society. Even ordinary sex, una dey slaughter girls. It's terrible. How do you build a tourism economy in such a country? |
idahme:So what do you say about the gospel singer who dismembered a lady? This una mentality get as e be |
Lalami3232:Such a lady has shown to the world that she's better off without a man. I pity any man who wants to compete with a machine in satisfying a woman's sexual needs. |
THEDEEPSIGHT:Preach it for those at the back! Big Daddy China is here to stay! |
SIRTee15:Cheap labour and easy access to natural resources from colonised countries - those factors are gone. Immigrants are assessing state funds and subsidies, remittances back home and are competing head-on with the natives. A significant proportion of the top scientists in the US are immigrants and they've close ties to thier kindred back home. People are even complaining about China, what about when India, Indonesia and Vietnam start growing as rapidly as China? Expanding their production capabilities and markets? The West has seen its match. They should accept it. |
SIRTee15:To add, in the end of last year, China had a trade surplus of almost a trillion dollars. China is the world's trading power, not even the US. 25% tariff on Mexico import is the most foolish decision of all. Most American companies manufacturing in Mexico are those who moved their factories from china to be closer to home.Another way of looking at it, Chinese firms are circumventing the trade barriers between the US and China by shifting factories to Mexico and Canada to take advantage of the trade agreements in order to sell to the US. Trump aims to stifle this, but we'd see how it works. |
saintopus:E go hard for Nigeria case due to culture and religion. What we've in the abroad is women refusing to marry, marrying late or marrying but decide not to hav or children. This works because there's a greater individual independence and economic prosperity. So everyone can make his/her choice. On the other hand, in our case, we'd see a high level of adultery by women either to fulfill personal enjoyment or source for financial support. Yes, divorce rates will shoot up amongst both well educated and not so educated, especially if the woman keeps funding the household. But in places like Abuja and Lagos, expect to see women being increasingly independent about their lives. All in all, the best way to mitigate things is to have fewer children. Two children max. But Nigerians no dey like hear word. I will always be here to gloat at dem battalion folks. ![]() |
MadamExcellency:Which was not Android. It was the likes of Tecno and Infinix that ushered in Android operating systems into the palms of many Nigerians. Considering the theft by so-called NGO workers, I dare say the products of the Chinese have contributed more to ordinary Nigerians than so-called subsidised malaria drugs, most of which are produced in India, and where else? China. The USAID cannot produce free phones because the US does not even manufacture phones. Let's get real when we post comments. |
LordAdam16:I think this ideology stems from the "China needs to consume/buy goods and services", mostly from Western think tanks and so-called experts (most of whom don't speak Chinese in the first place). China consumes goods and services (one of the major buyers of luxury goods and tourists). I don't know about now, but before the sanctions and blockade by the US and its I hesitate to write off Europe because of what has transpired in the US.I wanted to reply to this earlier as I recall an article in the FT where it stated the Germans look forward to resuming gas inflows from Russia. I laughed sotey. Lovey dovey has never worked in any part of the world, especially during trying times. Europe hasn't had the wherewithal to do that yet, but you can see tiny flames sputtering in the rise of conservative movements in the Old Continent.Sorry, but they cannot work or better still out-do hungry and ready Vietnamese or Indians. Besides, where would the young people come from sef? That continent is laggard and almost gone. They still argue arrogantly that they have a higher quality of life even when their Gen-Zs have been left far behind their US counterparts. Who will pay the pensions and man the factories to compete head-on with emerging Asia? Also, as exemplified by China, every other nation outside the West wants to move up the technology ladder, the very thing the West fights China. So, when the likes of India, Vietnam and Malaysia can produce goods Europeans do at cheaper rates, what would they offer to the world aside from luxury goods and open fields in the name of tourism? Europe is still incredibly feudal and classist. I think a sea change can be radically implemented in a jiffy.German tech is morbidly expensive. Even cheaper Japanese tech is out-done across Southeast Asia to the extent the Mitsubishi CEO said "Chinese carmakers are doing too much" in the region. For less than half the price, the agriculture by the Dutch can be done by South Americans. The reason they dragged their feet in signing a trade deal with the major countries in the continent. I see dominance in pharmaceuticals - branded drugs which cure/treat specific diseases. The other aspect of the industry is fully dominated by Indians and the Chinese and this sector constitutes the majority of maladies in most parts of the world. And oh! Luxury and specific machinery goods as done by the Swiss, but if they keep insulting and trying to control a major buyer, expect a decline in sales. It also guarantees that even if Africa doesn't get its sh*t together, our progenies will still have a long laundry list of destinations with healthy talent demand. The Americas, the Gulf, the Old Continent, SE and East Asia. The retards can continue with their mindless graft and Sharia campaign, e no pass for our progenies to continue the IJGB culture.lol Well, as you stated, if the continent does not get its act together, other parts of the world will simply pick the best and brightest of our people. But in a world where there would be more black people, and/or an increase, than other races and in an inter-connected space, I wonder how relations would be. |
CC: Sheblayze You mentioned "moral decadence" with regard to raising children in Nigeria. Could you please explain how this moral decadence has been in Nigeria and to what effect? What did you see and assess that made you come to that conclusion? Also, the locality where you witnessed them. Thanks. |
mrjojo:I saw the detailed and more realistic reply by Sheblayze to you. I implore you to digest it. I am unmarried and don't have children, so I have no idea about how things are. Also, and most importantly, you are in Europe (presumably the UK), and I am in Japan/East Asia. These are vastly different societies with relation to raising fully black children. Asia itself is very different with regards to black people living here, so imagine it for raising children. Singapore and maybe Thailand could be much different, and better since they are multicultural. Maybe the Philippines as well, but nothing concern me with that country. All the same, I am even more glad I am still unmarried as marrying and having child(ren) changes one's life trajectory. It ties one to a location for a considerable period. I don't want to be tied down at such a young age. I want to be free. In the Nigerian church I attend, I have come across Black children (7 - 11 years old), but I have not come across grown Black teens to assess things much clearer. Also, I don't live in Tokyo which is much more diverse to have a wider perspective of things. But anytime I think of marriage cum children, I am reminded of the mall environment I witnessed - lovely, jovial, boisterous etc - but l imagined how odd it will be for a black kid in such an environment even if the child understands the language and culture. Additionally, I cast my mind back to the scene at Tokyo Disneyland where an 8-year-old black boy was just roaming around looking lost until this black young lady beckoned to him and played with him because apparently, no one was interested in playing with him. Whether he came with a family or not, I no too sabi, but I knew he felt out of place. Ultimately, anything I do now is for my economic prosperity and enjoyment. The only thing regarding children I am certain of is to have them as few as possible. My prosperity and enjoyment are non-negotiable. |
LordAdam16:Thank you Lord. I applaud the Chinese focus on economic development without resorting to tinkering with countries' political structures and cultures. There is a popular meme of Xi which is titled "Do Nothing and Win". That has been the focus of Chinese elites, and I am proud of them. As for Chinese scientists in the US (negligible in other parts of the West), many have been returning and with Trump's new tenure coupled with the hordes of China hawks he has appointed, many more will return. It was during his first tenure that he initiated the China's Act sort where Chinese researchers were scrutinised unjustly which saw many lose funding and a few even died ("committed suicides" we're told). Whether in terms of scientific publications and the people behind them, as you stated, it is China vs China. In manufacturing, no country can defeat China's poweress, no one whatsoever. I just cannot see it. Unlike Japan in its heydays, the Chinese are going everywhere whether in Nigeria, Brazil, Congo, Namibia, Malaysia, Dubai etc. The West has met its match! The Chinese Century, nay Asian Century is here, and unlike Japan, the US destroyed with the Plaza Accord, China isn't signing anything, has no US military base and possesses nuclear weapons. As for investment, Europe is done for. Severe demographic crises, far from emerging Asia, abut to a poorer Africa, a bloated public debt, over-regulation etc. I don't see how they can compete o. Aside from China, the next hubs are Southeast Asia and South Asia. If we and East Africa get our acts together, we follow suit. The aim is to promote economic/scientific development, do nothing else and win. Sincere kudos to the Chinese as a people and their elites. I am proud of them. Long Live the CCP! |
I wonder how much OP paid the mods that pushed this nonsense to the front page. It's only in Nigeria that I've seen/read where buying a dress for a lady is a prerequisite to have a date with her. There are some concepts about relationships in Nigeria (social media speaking) that I find worrisome and don't even understand. |
