I appreciate all the responses, including the ones that said I am a security man in the US and the tribal slur that I am an IPOB because I don't believe in the Fulanised Nigerian army (what if I am from Kajuru nko?) ![]() Hopefully, this thread would serve as a template for moneyed folks in the abroad who plan or wish to return to Nigeria someday. Additionally, the responses have proven my belief that the greatest achievement of black men especially Nigerian men is to dangle their smelly preek around while chanting alfa meils alfa meils alfa meils!!! If you read through, very few suggested these rich people should try to change the system for the better. I mentioned insecurity as a major issue even if I am not affected, but rather than suggest these moneyed folks try to change the system so that the farmers in Zango-Kataf can cultivate their crops in peace, they suggested hiring security personnel as the antidote to insecurity. When I said Nigerian men have failed their women, I was not lying. The responses prove it. The average black person esp man is inherently greedy, wicked, shortsighted, and a poor planner. Thus, I don't believe black people can build a functioning society nor can they manage one if given on a platter of gold. The ones in Bermuda, Bahamas etc are exceptions, not the norm. |
shinealight:I understand the psychological feeling, and that is the reason I included Namibia. From the responses, what can be enjoyed in Nigeria can also be enjoyed in Namibia which is way safer. Thus, I will rather be rich in Namibia than in Nigeria. |
ahiboilandgas:Impressive! One problem is solved. |
ahiboilandgas:Well, to you. To me? The Nigerian army is too fractured along ethnic and religious lines to solve the country's security challenges. They are not doing anything if not, the president would have found a lasting situation to the crises in Southern Kaduna and environs. Nothing anyone can tell me about the Nigerian army. Nigerian elites, both political and private, are too wicked, unintelligent, cruel and incompetent for my liking. We agree to disagree. |
DesignMaestro:OK, my bad regarding the nomenclature. How would the trains be powered when light is not constant? I hope no be by those IPPs, which are largely glorified generators? |
ahiboilandgas:Fair points. However, not everyone who japa'd went to the US. So, the student debt of a thing or mass shootings sounds like Greek to a Nigerian settled in the Netherlands. Also, other West African countries or even few in Southern Africa offer almost similar advantages and are very safe when compared to Nigeria. My major issue with Nigeria is insecurity. I don't like a place where the elites aren't doing anything about the insecurity situation even if I am tucked inside Banana Island. |
BlessedDay21:You sent a PM. |
While discussing with some buddies yesterday, we touched on the topic “moving back to Nigeria”. I argued that Nigeria is not safe. Sure, there are places that are pretty “safe”. However, my notion of safety is when other people elsewhere can go about their normal activities without fear. For instance, I don’t consider a place safe if one part of the area keeps suffering repeated attacks from Fulani herdsmen (like Southern Kaduna and Plateau). I don’t have to be the affected party, but others who go about their normal activities should feel safe doing them. The other guy countered that, with money, one could enjoy Nigeria. “Live in Maitama, run Lister generator and live quietly.” Also, you get to be in a place where almost everyone looks like you. Upon hearing “…with money, one can enjoy Nigeria”, I asked him to list five things/ways one can enjoy Nigeria as long as the person has money. Surprisingly, he could not mention one thing/way. I thought it wise to throw it to the house, especially for those who are anti-Japa or those who have stayed abroad for a long time and currently reside in Nigeria. As someone with money, what exactly does the person enjoy in Nigeria? What are the differences compared to his/her counterpart in say, Namibia or Canada/UK that also has money? How do you enjoy Nigeria provided the money is available? P.S. I understand that the notion of “enjoyment” is largely subjective. Some enjoy going to parties, while others enjoy travelling around or even reading a book while in a park. But I believe there are some universal notions of enjoyment. |
samz77:When I see posts like this and others, I am not surprised. Rather what bothers me is that Igbos are usually the ones who boast or brag about Nigeria when outside the country. My people will boast about a place where they are not regarded. Honestly, the ignorant braggadocio of many Igbos should be curtailed. If a Fulani man uses Nigeria to be boastful, I can understand. When an Igbo man does the same, I find it ridiculous. |
To be honest, it is very good and commendable for Lagos to have a monorail. Considering the size of the state, size of the economy and the population, it is long overdue. Not all states in the US even have monorails, so Lagos ought to have one, and thankfully, she does have it now. Although monorails are usually expensive, they alleviate commuters using the current disorganised road transport system. One piece of advice is to replace those carpets with metallic floors (considering that many areas in Lagos don't have tarred roads and the tropical environment) and institute strict rules regarding refuse dumping or spitting or nose phlegm or pasting of bills, noise-making etc. Since the Chinese funded it, let them manage it for a decade while training the locals on how to manage a metro line effectively. Connect many parts of the state with such monorails or metro lines, then copy the Singaporeans to implement a road usage tax (ERP). Honestly, there is no excuse for not developing all parts of Nigeria. The blueprints exist somewhere. Just copy, tweak and paste. No point reinventing the wheel. |
CoronaVirusRelo:When a man succumbs to sleeping with his domestic servant in his matrimonial home, it really sucks. If she wanted to stay, that is on her, but if I were her, I would leave. Some people have self-respect and dignity. |
Raalsalghul:That is the reason I am very wary of girls wey get plenty siblings. Once e pass two, I dey very careful. No matter how homely, wife-able or beautiful the lady is, I won't do anything with her. I cannot be responsible for someone's irresponsibility. I'm tempted to call a lot of Nigerians stupid. The average Nigerian is innately foolish and stoopid! It is genetic at this point. They are so uneducated, poor, proud, loud and very very stoopid. Add religion, archaic and illogical cultural practices and the reasoning process is something else. One might blame the public education system, but it is the same system I went through. |
ferhyntorlah:Then you create the thread in the diary section. The same thing you are saying made a former Nairalander - DanielHouston - had issues with the mod here. He created a thread in this section and mandated only to have positive comments on it. He opposed everyone who disagreed with him. Justwi.se disagreed because of freedom of speech, he got angry and left. Search his name, and you will find the thread. You should always expect opposing views as long as your work is in the public sphere. Alternatively, you don't post your work publicly. That way, no one knows anything about you. The moment you post something personal about yourself publicly, it becomes everyone's business. |
BadRadio:Once they win, that is the beginning of the end for Christianity in Nigeria. I will be here to remind them. I kuku have posts with times and dates to confirm my prediction. |
I have written extensively on the systemic slaughtering of Christians across Northern Nigeria and have even discussed it with a few Northern Christians. The situation is pathetic and sorrowful. On the one hand, the Church in Southern Nigeria has been very quiet. On the other hand, elites in Nigeria have been mum. It is part of the reason I don't rate Nigerian elites, their friends or people who support them. They are demonic and cruel. |
Bonjovi13:Men create the society, women integrate into it - Pano.phist. I don talk am tire say Nigerian men perpetuate the hookup culture, but as useless as they are, they never admit their responsibilities. To them, as far as their smelly deeks are available, they are alfa meils. https://www.nairaland.com/6643241/nigerian-men-failed-women |
ferhyntorlah:The thread is invaluable, so it should be on the Front Page. It is Nairaland, a discussion forum. Yes, once a thread hits the FP, readers should expect all sorts of comments, however, that should not be a reason it should not hit FP. The best option which was done is to allow the thread to run up to 3-5 pages before taking it to the FP. That way, the earliest comments are related to the thread. Another option is to overlook unsavoury comments. Everyone cannot react in the same way and you cannot please everyone |
Pickmycall:The driver's job is not hazardous, like being a sex worker. Also, a sex worker is like a contractor. Contractors charge higher than salaried employees as they don't enjoy fringe benefits such as housing, feeding, pension, transport allowance, public holidays etc. Honestly, Nigerians should really re-learn basic economics. The illiteracy is nauseating. |
airsaylongcome:Then, they have failed as wealthy Igbo men. Even wealthy Akwa Ibom/Edo men hold theirs in Akwa Ibom and Edo, not Lagos or Abuja. Igbo elites, both political and business, have failed Igbos and Ndi-Igbos. |
lexy2014:God go bless you! |
Nolevel666:Actually, it is citizens of white-dominated and non-black countries that move to buy iPhones. Nigerians are too poor to constitute a substantial number of consumers who purchase newly released iPhones. |
cliqtips:It is actually a business na. They exchange sexual services for money. The demand is there, so the supply has to be monetised. |

Ibechris2:Everyone cannot be an employer or entrepreneur. Nigeria that you are in has the highest number of poor people upon say people dey do side-hustle. The issues lie in buying what you don't need, having plenty of children, taking loans for non-asset generating items, not saving and investing, engaging in lots of frivolities that take your money away, not being highly skilled to earn more enormous salaries, not doing delayed gratification, keeping up with the Joneses etc. Moreover, as your earnings increase, whether as a salaried person or entrepreneur, your expense would also increase. The major advantage business owners have over salaried people is tax laws. Governments across the world generally favour entrepreneurs. Anything to pay fewer taxes is perfectly OK. Alternatively, as a salaried person, you skill-up and apply to jobs that pay in foreign currencies or countries where the income tax is very low (Singapore) or there is no income tax (the UAE). Bills would always be paid, employee or entrepreneur. Manage your expense very well. Some of una get four children, yet una skills have not been updated to enable una earn big salary, why won't you people complain? |
ahiboilandgas:You really sound angry ever since young Nigerians japa'd in droves. Is the effect of generator fumes so terrible? Gist me, who knows, we fit conduct some experiments using you as a case study and publish the result in Nature. How you see am? ![]() |
Johel:So because this lady shows part of her buttocks in public would you hate women? So much frustration in one post. |
Kirkman:To be fair, the friend is well-dressed for such an event. If you say that makes her an ashawo, that also means the countless number of young women adorning a similar dress in Tokyo, Singapore, London, New York etc., are ashawos too? |
Gadafii:It is very lucrative esp if the lady is beautiful and possesses desirous physical features. The men who complain about women who are indecently dressed are either poor or are angry at that ladies can make money with their genitals, unlike men. As for the topic, she has marketed herself very well. Kudos to her. I love it when people take advantage of capitalism to better their lives. Hopefully, she accepts cum in her mouth and swallows it as that is what I am willing to pay anything for. |
