That is because you are a Christian. Why do you believe everyone should/must profess your religion? What makes yours superior to others? Who made you the numero uno in spiritual affairs? Those regions are civilised yet are not Christians.

You believe Christianity is the all-in-all because you were raised in a Christian family. People elsewhere don't believe the same because they were not raised in a Christian environment.

Yahaya. Bello acccpted a trailer load of Fulani into the Yanga area during Buhari when they were chased away from other regions LOKOJA— Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has kicked against the anti-grazing laws enacted by some of his colleagues in Benue and Taraba states, saying herdsmen were welcome to graze in any part of the state. Governor Bello stated this during an emergency state security stakeholders’ meeting attended by traditional rulers, Fulani settlers, political administration and security personnel over incessant clash between Fulani herdsmen and farmers. Bello added that the herdsmen can call their kinsmen displaced in other states to Kogi State. The traditional ruler of Elete, Chief Ahmed Aku, who was kidnapped last year by herdsmen, had advised the governor to follow the example of Benue and Ekiti governors. However, Bello responded passionately, saying, “I will not enact any law to stop Fulani herdsmen from coming to Kogi State. I will not be part of any law that will forbid them from carrying out their normal business in Kogi State. “Why don’t we develope a law that will make us live together harmoniously and tap from our different economic values? “The next ‘oil’ this country is rediscovering now is agriculture. So if you don’t want anybody to disrupt the farms, I beseech you to also allow the Fulani carry out their businesses.”… reads riot act to monarchs, LG bosses
The governor also threatened to dethrone any traditional ruler whose domain was used as a battle ground between farmers and herdsmen.
His words: “We will dethrone any traditional ruler of the land where such occurred; including removing any administrator of such local government—appointed or elected.”Bello directed the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to ensure the Fulani were integrated into the traditional council area of all the local government areas of the state. He ruled: “There must, henceforth, be a representative of Fulani in the local traditional council. This must also be replicated at the area traditional council, while the Secretary to the State Government must see that a Fulani representative is present at the state council.“This will ensure that the Fulani are aware of, and are part of decision making in the state.”He also directed his Special Adviser on Security Matters, Jerry Moodart, to commence the process of taking census of Fulani resident in all the 21 councils in the state.source :https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/11/gov-bello-kicks-grazing-bill/

Access to cheap credit and power supply are reasons why industrialisation is low in Nigeria. Industrialisation needs access to patient and cheap capital.

Black tax, there is a term for everything nowadays...

I think most of our old ways of doing things shouldn't be eroded completely in the race to become Westernised rather modifications should be applied where applicable and necessary. I have a lot of things to say about the Chinese and sticking to and modifying their traditional ways of doing things and how well it has worked for them. A country or continent that throws away it's cultural identity and original ideology in embrace of foreign cultural norms hardly progresses!
On this topic, the Chinese you praise have max two children. The solution to Black Tax is to have few children. The economy is tough. Jobs are scarcer and highly competitive. Bill Gates did not become a prominent philanthropist BEFORE he got wealthy; it was AFTER he became SO wealthy.

Same black tax that helped build many successful people is now being condemned. This same black tax applies in India, Bangladesh, South Africa etc and their societies have thriven because the system does it's part, here in Nigeria, the system that we all labor and serve does nothing but takes a large chunk of your earnings, giving back to your family that built you is no tax, the black tax is actually in the government that fails to support the society but rather, the society works for them undecided undecided undecided undecided
Resources are scarcer these days with few people carting or hoarding them. For these reasons, young people should know that the best way to maximise these fewer resources and opportunities is by having fewer children.

Yes, the government is bad and everyone knows it. So, why worsen things after knowing the government is bad? Is the government in control of an individual's preek and vagina?

I have discussed with two female friends, and they said I am lucky I don't pay the Black Tax. Honestly, I am very lucky I don't pay it. Well, I believe it is my reward for cautioning my mom against having another child fifteen years ago. Maybe these elder ones should have done the same. Talk to your parents about having more children.

Have a few children (two maximum). Nothing beats that.

How would you want to have PhD and not publish papers?

Isn't that laziness? Don't they know how important higher education is to the world?
Three papers. Mine was one. Other departments had two as the minimum. Also, according to them, the journals were listed, so other journals aren't considered. I was told how some foreign students spend four years rather than the standard three years to complete their PhDs. After three years, the scholarships end, so funding falls on the student.

In summary, PhD no be small thing.

Konnichiwa,

I was told I need a personal seal (inkan/hanko) to open a bank account or sign a mobile contract here in Japan. A kind Japanese neighbor I just met this evening even drove me to a Daiso store, but unfortunately, I couldn’t buy a seal — they only sell ones with Japanese kanji names.

My family name (I’m Igbo) is written in katakana, so it wasn’t available.
You don't need an inkan/hanko to open an account. Your school needs to assist you with opening a bank account wirh JP Bank. The account will be linked to your mobile contract with a telecom provider. Normal signature can suffice. Getting a hanko is one thing as you will need to register it with the city office you reside to legitimise it to use for signature. A hanko without registration at the city hall is just an ink (I am open to be corrected here).

So JP Bank account > phone contract with a provider > My Number Card. In fact, if possible, get the My Number Card before the bank account. Your residence card will be mandatory for all stages.

To those of you who’ve already been through this — @Gerra.rd59, @blac.kbriar, @judecar.es1 — how did you get your inkan made, especially if your name isn’t in kanji?
I have a hanko, but first bank account and mobile contract. Those two are more important than a hanko for a foreign resident.

Also, I’m currently relying on my dormitory’s free Wi-Fi. Once I step outside, I can’t access the internet because I don’t have a Japanese SIM card yet. Without it, it’s been really hard to move around or use essential apps like Google Maps — it’s affecting my ability to settle in.
I once was like that until I opened a JP Bank, then got my mobile contract linked to the bank.

I had similar experience, my own scenario set me back another 600k. According to a staff, Qatar Airways received email from Japan that they should scrutinize all Nigerians flying to Japan using their service, that lots of Nigerians are being sent back or in detention camp. But surprisingly, when I got to Kansai International Airport, Osaka, apart from the long queue, every other thing was seamless. I am now in my room resting after spending over 17hrs(delayed flight) in Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Malaysia
I talk am....

Dem think say because EXPO is held, Japan would have open borders to Black Africans.

If I talk now, dem go say I get low self esteem.

P.S. The worst experience a Black African person (mostly men) can get in this region is being in detention. It is better one goes back quietly. Japan is even better. Outside the big East Asian countries and maybe Singapore (provided no drugs), it is better for the person to relocate to Kwara or Borno than be inside detention in Asia.

If have to get used to the fact that not everyone will marry in today's world even if they desire it.
Everyone won't be rich
Everyone won't use a car
Everyone won't build a house and so many more.
I know it is a bitter truth to swallow.

If they are struggling to tame down a reasonable spouse, they should opt for getting pregnant and raising the kids themselves or else they die childless (a sizeable percentage will fall into this category too)
Another option is to swallow their pride and date/marry down. There are many men poverty has humbled who are really hardworking.
I know how hard going down to pick a spouse for ladies because going down looks as if they have failed and not getting who they really like or attractive but it is what it is.

Life humbles us all at one point or another.
They date down, raise a loan or get a cooperative for the man to start something so that he can be contributing a quota at home no matter what.
Men date down all the time and heaven didn't fall. We set-up ladies, sponsor them to school, open businesses for them and heaven didn't fall.
Na true you talk.

The bold are well noted. One of my lecturers in uni obviously married down because her dad was a big professor (currently in government) and her two siblings reside in the US. The man wasn't the rich type, but they are married with a child.

At the end of it all he was like I really like this project and the results we have and I will send it for publishing. I thought he was joking. Apparently he did and this week, news arrived from the organization that the paper was accepted shocked shocked shocked. Like I used this masters just as a means of escaping from Nigeria. I would have never expected to have an IEEE published paper out of it. Life has a way of surprising you.
Congratulations man!

The publication aspect reminded me of the Nigerians I knew in the robotics department at my graduate school. The robotics department has a policy where prospective PhD grads have to publish three original papers in high profile journals before graduation. Two declined their PhD scholarships and went off with M.Eng. One accepted it, but two years into the PhD program, he did not have a paper ready for publication. He returned to Nigeria.

Raalsalghul:
Gerrar.d59, what factors influenced her becoming the prime minister?
That is the LDP for you. The closest faction behind the winning one gets to replace the outgoing PM. Shigeru was a close contender to Kishida, who later stepped down. Takaichi was a close contender to Shigeru when the latter won the party's nomination. I recall watching the live voting by the members alongside a Japanese man, but knew in my heart (I don't discuss politics with anyone) that Shigeru would win. I did not expect the party as of then to choose a woman as its leader. But since Shigeru has stepped down, the closest contender gets to replace the outgoing PM.

As for her policies, I don't really expect many changes, except she could become more vocal regarding immigration (which they sorely need and businesses have agreed). Immigration laws, I think, are largely independent of the present PM, but a cultural or maybe LDP's thing. Under Shigeru, asylum laws were tightened and the required amount for business visa managers was increased to 30m YEN from 5m YEN. Permanent residency would be revoked if taxes are not paid promptly.

She could be vocally anti-China, but Japan's economy is strongly linked with China and its investments. Business leaders would be against anything that would make the Chinese angry. Those people dey quick vex and retaliate if disrespected.

Same stories they told u over and over again.

Obj, GEJ, etc are all spending money to defend the naira and only tinubu is not spending money to defend the naira ? Well done
- Oil prices were high during OBJ and GEJ times. A high oil price leads to a strong naira. The same in Ghana as gold prices have soared. The cedis gets stronger. Gold and cocoa prices have ballooned in the past year. The cedis is bound to be strong. However, Nigeria does not need a strong naira. Also, except there is a global war, oil is not hitting $150 anytime soon.
- OBJ greatly reduced our debts.
- Jonathan initiated reforms in the economy.
- Buhari (worse than Abacha) allowed wanton oil theft such that we could not meet OPEC quota.
- Buhari squandered the money left by GEJ
- Buhari borrowed and borrowed and even used future oil sales (remember we weren't meeting OPEC quotas) as collateral for more loans
- We spent a lot of borrowed money to refinance our debts and defend a weak naira.
- Buhari allowed his marauding brothers to wreck havoc on Nigerians, their communities and investments
- ...and many more atrocities by him.

I did not, nor did my parents, campaign and vote for Buhari in 2015 (see my signature). My question for Tinubu and his supporters is, why did they support such an incompetent man whose incompetence was glaring?

This is one of the "ills" of social media. People who previously never had a means to air their thoughts, no matter how somehow, now have the medium in their palms. Then, for you to be known or be seen, you had the newspapers or TV/radio, where scrutiny is applied before airing. Don't get me wrong, the Internet is the greatest invention mankind has invented after electricity. But this right here is one of its ills.

Public Universities should be subsidize and well-equipped but no, the case is different here.
Some of the structures in the institutions were built by private individuals, organizations, alumnus, etc
Rather than equipping the educational sector, they are screaming "student loans" like it's some sort of timely and innovative policy
As a country, we don't have the money to subsidise education. The solution is to either increase fees or taxes or both. The other is to increase production of goods and services geared to the export market.
