The thing is, take your mind off these things and just pray to your God for a good spouse with good heart and human conscience, those are the key qualities you must consider.
Some Virgin girls are soulless you will regret ever wifing them.
You guys should take your minds off these things and focus on bettering your lives economically/financially and on how to stop failed, corrupt kleptomaniacs from being elected into offices as Governors, Senators, Reps and President in Nigeria starting from 2027. Those are the major issues destroying lives and pushing our young girls into immoral lifestyle
I don talk am tire. Men who are more concerned about what goes into a woman's vagina would never make it in life.

If Nigeria were a rich country, the rate of these activities by these girls would be so low.

Mr Ibe, I appreciate the wonders God created in Black women. I love them! I can pay any amount for big boobs.

Umunna, clock it!!!!

Two doctors graduate at the same time, let's say 2015.

One works in Nigeria at ₦500K per month for 10 years and lives in his parents home free of charge. The other works in the UK for 10 years at prevailing normal wages for a doctor and then returns to Nigeria to live

Who is likely to have saved more NAIRA? That's the question that justifies migration. Let's not get into living standards and such, just the raw monetary gain. The answer is very clear even from my own life starting as an illegal fry cook. PPP is a real thing with little bearing on the reality of migration. Money is the same EVERYWHERE, the differentiating factor is the EASE of earning it in different countries.
My previous post answers it. British docs who left the country for Australia will earn more than those who stayed back. Japanese and Korean docs who do the same to the US will out-earn their mates in Tokyo and Seoul.

Salaries are much lower in Nigeria due to the poor economy.

So why have so many doctors migrated from Nigeria? I have 2 doctor friends with over 15 years experience, both Igbo, one a urologist, who migrated from Nigeria to practice in Saudi Arabia!!!! That should give an idea of the desperation. Salaries in Nigeria are too poor. In 2022 or so the highest paid CEO of a quoted company earned $600K TOTAL compensation and he was an Asian. Laughable, but it gives an idea of the abysmal wages in that country.
Nigeria is a poorer country with a high population. Higher salaries aren't supposed to be common. Even if or when the country gets richer, companies can tap migrants from Benin, Cameroon, Ghana and Niger to dilute the wages. Higher salaries would not be prevalent anytime soon. Salaries are lower too in Vietnam, India, Indonesia and even Malaysia.

It was in the news and I've since confirmed it - entry level retail bankers with 2 years experience now earn ₦800K per month...a whole £400.
800K spent in Nigeria, especially outside Lagos and Abuja, go a long way compared to £400 outside Southeast England. Naira is spent in Nigeria, not the UK. Pounds is spent in the UK, not in Nigeria.

And then..... https://www.nairaland.com/7025067/see-someones-salary-kogi-state grin grin grin grin
Some states in Nigeria would never make it. It is not a curse. It is the reality. All cultures are not equal. Some cultures are more equal than others. Remove cashew and cassava from Kogi, and nothing is fascinating from that state. A state's or society's progress depends largely on the quality of elites it has and the cultural practices it shows towards development and enterprise.

His highest total earnings in Nigeria was ₦185K

₦185K = £200

I'm sure any doctor in the UK can easily save £200 monthly AFTER all expenses. That's the point of migration, most migrants can save and remit MORE NAIRA than they could EARN in Nigeria.

Oya Oga Gerrard come and invalidate my argument with PPP undecided

Good Luck to Nigerians.
Lol!

You keep bringing this conversion metric, but you are the forefront of naira devaluation. I think we have debated it previously.

Moving to the UK obviously offers him a higher living standard and salary, but in the same UK, its own doctors move to Australia and the US for better salaries. Some British citizens, esp ethnic minorities, study medical courses in Eastern Europe and then return to practice in the UK.

He has the right to relocate as medicine is significantly mobile. But the currency conversion has its own nuances beyond just bare numbers.

I have noticed that Nigerians in the Western diaspora tend to be more classist than those who aren't. The IJGBs are notorious for this, but we don't read or watch similar attitudes from Ndi Malaysia and Odogwu China.

I have put down all my points
nothing more to add
The Uighurs and the Tibet ppl, as well as their neighbours don't have anything good to say about China, but it is a negro that will praise sing China because of cheap goods that destroy local capacity in his own country, how laughable
Everybody imports, and the bulk of importers in any country are the citizens. That is not China's fault. Pointing a finger at the Chinese for flooding, say, Nigeria with "cheap goods" points back at you as an Igbo man. Who are those importing "cheap goods" from China, the Chinese themselves?

We shall see how this ends down the road
Whether China will stay its own lane, or cross the line and get dealt with
I am curious, what line has China crossed? When did it become a bad thing for a country to aspire to become prosperous for its people? This thing dey like witchcraft o

Grab your popcorn and watch proceedings

The bolded further goes to show that you don't even know what you are saying or talking about

I'm sure you are one of those "not so bright" Africans that blame Plaza Accords for the decline of the Japanese economy and not the policy response of japan AFTER the accords was signed
We have touched on the Plaza Accords, so it will be humdrum to continue. But why would Russia, in dire need of funding during a war, bomb the pipelines of its biggest customer?

You think China will be in that position today had it been the USA did not assent to their ascension into the WTO?
In return, the US got cheap goods. Inflation was low. CEOs were awash with high salaries. Companies drowned in sky-touching profits. Everyone benefited. It was a mutual relationship. This accusation that only the Chinese benefited is wrong. Luxury goods companies in Europe enjoyed boom years. The German car industry enjoyed. A CEO acknowledged it.

Keep chest thumping and shilling for a China that is being led by a morally bankrupt regime
Let's see how it will play out when they step out of line and they get inevitably dealt with
"Morally bankrupt" Chimooooo!!! How is China "morally bankrupt"?

Their capital account position from what I have gathered is already in a precarious state hence the capital controls and all that
Washington instead of them to put more pressure by placing their jackboot on the wound and let the country Bleed more, they are busy chasing rats
The capital controls have always been there since the mid-2010s. Blame the GFC for it, not China.

The fruits of that will begin to manifest one to two decades from now
Your PM is under fire for letting go of an inquiry so that the economic interests of the UK and China are not hampered. Let's see how things go with the embassy.

grin cheesy

India is buying oil from Ameeica's adversary Russia, who is fighting an illegal war in Ukraine.
So Washington should just fold its hand and let India create a room for the Russians to keep fighting this war?
In turn, Europe buys the refined oil from India. The US still buys goods from Russia. The EU still purchases crude from Russia. Thankfully, the era of "do as I say, not as I do" is dying off.

Will India take it lightly with Nigeria if Nigeria is buying goods from Pakistan en masses, which in turn is helping Pakistan to propagate war in the disputed Kashmir region ?
In this case, India's closest paddies are buying goods from Pakistan, and India itself is buying goods from Russia. Why has India not called out those paddies and itself before calling out Nigeria?

If China is such a good country and is not meddlesome, why are they bullying countries into not recognising Taiwan as its own country despite Taiwan actually being its own country?
There is only One China. That was the agreement so-called World Powers signed with China. Agreement is agreement. They can as well cross China's line to fully recognise Taiwan as the China it knows.

China is the good guy yet Uighurs are still collecting woto woto from them
Or the coordinated poaching and resources stealing network they are running across Africa (refer to Ghana, Sierra Leone, Zambia and even Zimbabwe)
The Uyghurs' claim has been disputed several times. Most times, the US is not really concerned about minority groups for humanitarian purposes, but for geopolitical reasons. This stealing of a thing is done in conjunction with the elites in those areas. In Ghana, the elites collude. In Zimbabwe, the elites ensure the Chinese set up processing facilities. The British sanctioned Zimbabwe to penury, but the Chinese are operating factories there.

So much for pillaging....

Let's tell ourselves the truth, both Muslims and Christians are being killed in multitudes every day in Nigeria. The killing has gone out of control, the insecurity is very high currentl,y and truth be told, it is not really a religious killing anymore, but that of greed and selfishness for money. Trump calling it out is nothing. what has he done for Africa rather than deporting all of them back to their death in Africa where they struggled so hard to escape.
The bold is true, but Christians are slaughtered disproportionately in the most inhumane manner. This has been ongoing for almost a decade. 2017 - 2020 witnessed the bloodshedding of Christians, especially across Northern Nigeria. People kept mum. No one said anything. So far, even with the racial accusation labelled against the GOP, it remains the only prominent organisation that has called out the killings of Christians in Nigeria. No other organisation has done the same.

Well, posterity will judge us one day.

So these children become immersed in the British culture and don't ever want to go home again and plus they can be taken from you at anytime by the government and put in foster home. Basically you have no control over your children or the direction of their life anymore. Most likely you are doing 3 shifts so no time for them and they become gangstas in the council estate etc etc etc. basically it's like once you enter that country say goodbye to your kids. They are council estate gangstas in the making or being bullied in foster homes etc etc. does this ring true or am misinformed
This is why you should live life for yourself rather than your children as your children have their own lives to live when they become adults.

It's why you need to spend the money you work for on yourself FIRST

Most importantly, it's the reason you should have fewer children.

They are not yours again and don't want to be yours or follow you to your village.
This village of a thing. Ever since insecurity exacerbated and cost of transport ballooned, how many families still visit their villages alongside their children? For instance, how many times do you think parents from Benue or Cross River who live in Rivers State and Lagos respectively visit their villages?

You have your own life to live, so do the children. Yes, leave sound education, training and assets, but understand that they've their own lives to live as adults.

Foreign AffairsRe: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by Gerrard59(m): 2:58am On Oct 19, 2025
IbeOkehie:
This is good insight but there's even more. It might be trite to point out the FACT that everyone should know by now - Government is Corruption. The next powerful pillar of corruption in society is trade unions, then comes religion. The worst of them all is Government, an institution that uses the threat of lethal force or imprisonment to seize wealth and compel obedience.

Printing money for instance has been a justifiable function of government for eons. Every time government prints money it AUTOMATICALLY reduces the value of wealth accumulated by all citizens. If such an essential function of government can be so corrupt, one can only imagine what goes on in other avoidable areas of life.

Every human being that finds themselves in control of government power will abuse it at some point. Humans are inherently evil so giving any person the such authority only makes matters that much worse.

So ANYONE who truly wants to reduce corruption should support one thing - REDUCTION of government functions and powers. The reason Nigeria has more corruption than the USA is simply because Nigerian government has more power in Nigeria than USA governments have in the USA. That's all, nothing else.

Advocating for expansion of government while decrying corruption is thus a deep contradiction. Some would even call it immoral.
I love you, sir. No homo.

Good day house,
@Ric.tech, please correct me if I'm wrong, I've read through the thread and discovered your journey, from applying to arrival lasted for around 5 months... Please, does that mean I can meet up with April if I start the process now, or have you started already before coming to this thread?
Yes. Now is the time to start, esp between now and the middle of next month. Start messaging those profs. To gain admission into a Japanese university as a grad student (postdoc is different), you commence the application SIX MONTHS ahead of time.

@Black.briar and Gerrar,d59, it's interesting to read about the research route both of you have spoken extensively about, actually the first time I'm hearing of such and would love to try it out, now my question is, considering I have a certificate of English proficiency from my university, can that be used in lieu of the IELTS? (I used it in all my applications to universities in South Korean and Latvia and none rejected it, just want to know if same can apply here).
Yes. But first discuss with the international student admission office of that particular department or faculty. Once given go-ahead, you use it. If they initially oppose, lay your points why they should accept it.

PS: I have a B.Sc in Plant Science and Biotechnology, so will be applying for something in that line

Also, how INTENSIVE is the research study in Japan, from my research about S.K, I found out the research process is so intensive one basically spends the whole day, every work day, in the lab, hence leaving no room for part time jobs. Is that the same with Japan?
As I have written elsewhere, whatever you get in Japan, expect X2 of it in China and South Korea. So, yes, the research system here is thorough, detail and hard work. When I was a grad student, I used to take things jolly jolly until I noticed some of my lab mates (Japanese and Chinese) used the lab on weekends. The foreign postdocs (Korean and Indonesians) also came on weekends. Nobody tell me to dey follow enter lab on weekends. This was crucial as there were weekly lab reports. So you have to utilise every time to ensure you have a result update
to present, else the prof thinks you are slacking, and as the only Black student, I did not want to stain the white.

The research system is good as every equipment, chemical and journal (all students had access to the latest and top journals at the click of the button) is available. So no excuses. You want to research? Japan and the rest of East Asia is there you. I knew a fellow Nigerian in the same department but a different building who was conducting lab work back to back. He is now a postdoc in a university in a different prefecture.

Aside the normal factory PT jobs, can one get a part time job as an English teacher in a tutorial centre? (I have the necessary certificates for that, such as TEFL certificate and C2 certificate in English proficiency)
Yes. There is also ISA which normally employs foreign grad students to teach students across the country. The usual English tutorial centres are okay, but the wages are not high as they are standardised just like every part time job. But the warehouse jobs pay higher because they have night shifts. So one can technically max part-time work hours per month and earn 200K yen. I know a Burkinabe who did this and probably still does.

But please note: continuous work in the warehouse or similar environment would affect your erection abilities. Your preek would not stand after doing one month there.

Discovering that one can actually get residency stuff in Japan is what's making me gradually look away from SK
Wetin do South Korea? I know a Nigerian who told me he did his MSc there, but decided to obtain his PhD from Japan and prefers living here over SK because in his words, "The South Koreans are friendly/open to foreigners, but their labour market isn't. The Japanese are reserved and not open to foreigners, but their labour market is open".

This "residency", is it eventual permanent residency? No permanent residency pathway in South Korea?

😂😀🤣

It is heartening that you pro-West economic arsonists have finally dropped the mask.
Thank you for admitting that the side you cheer for would rather burn down the entire planet than allow shared prosperity.
When I saw that comment, I was shocked that an African would support the removal of presidents simply because the country aligns with China. Whether the Madagascan president is close to China, I don't know, but supporting the removal of existing presidents or an overthrow of the incumbent because they are somehow pro-China is how we got the ousting of Muammar Gaddafi, and we know the results across the Sahel.

China's global interests are not tied to individual regimes.
China has crafted an all-encompassing economic/foreign policy that is politically agnostic.
Whether Tinubu, GEJ, Atiku, Obi, or Kwankwaso becomes the President of Nigeria in 2027, China will remain Nigeria's largest partner.
Nigeria will be in BRICS and China will establish more factories and disburse more financing.
While it is largely true, should Chinese interests be attacked because there is a change in power, that country loses economic benefits from China. We see this in the Philippines and to an extent in Taiwan. So an anti-Chinese presidency in Nigeria would see Chinese government-led investments reduced. The economic relationships would largely be conducted on a private/individual/company level. And that is the good thing because at this stage of our economic development, we cannot sidestep the collaboration with the Chinese or the mere purchase of industrial equipment from China. As a country, we need A LOT OF FACTORY jobs, and to maximise scarce capital resources, China is the best place to purchase industrial equipment. Watch and read about all the thriving factory owners in Nigeria; they purchase their equipment from China.

So an anti-China president cannot stop that. BLord, our women going to buy goods from China, VDM, spare parts/electronics dealers and the hordes of factory owners across northern Nigeria will keep going to China.

If Washington likes it should conduct regime change or sponsor destabilizing protests.
At the end of the day, when the new President and the protesters return home, 90% of the products in their homes will be either made in China or have Chinese components in them.
China is INDISPENSABLE. The incentives and interests align perfectly.
And as Gerr.ard59 repeats ad nauseam, China will not make demands, intervene, or attempt to foist alien cultures on you.
Even better, you can maintain your relationships with anyone else.
Nigeria imports most of its used vehicles from the US. China does not mind.
Ecuador exports its bananas to the US. China does not mind.
China does not operate with a zero-sum mindset.
Everyone can and should prosper.
This is what I have been preaching since o. The Chinese are not against the British being interested in Zimbabwean mines, but don't stop them from mining and operating factories in the country. South America is in the US' backyard, yet American lawmakers were angry that China has made inroads into the continent. Did the Chinese stop America from doing the same? No. American automakers pulled out of Brazil, while BYD has gone in. Did the Chinese order American companies to leave? No. China imports beef and soybeans from Brazil, but it took open threats from South American leaders for the EU to accept the trade deal between both regions. In fact, the Chinese did not say anything when Milei was doing initial shakara, but as soon as export levies on soybeans were temporarily removed by Milei, the Chinese ordered vessels of soybeans and soymeal. The Chinese don't care about the $20BN signed with Bessent. Na soybeans we want, daz ol!

C'mon gentlmen! Wouldn't you love such a trading relationship?

And this, Mr, is why multipolarism is here to stay.
No one can put that toothpaste back in the tube. Whether it is Madagascar or Nepal or Bangladesh or Pakistan or Mali, the citizens of these countries will decide who rules them. Before they make that decision, while they're making that decision, and after they've made that decision; Chinese ships will bring the most cost-effective products, factories, and low-cost financing to them. With zero strings attached.

In China we trust, others can go to hell.
Simple!

That is how my modus operandi has been for a long time, and so shall it be going forward. Let's do business, and we'll go home. I would not poke-nose into your internal affairs, and I want you to accord me the same. When I lend you money and you agree to my terms, pay me back on time. I would not use that loan to try to control your internal affairs. I am only interested in the loans and its interests. I sell to you and you sell to me. Don't tell me how to behave. If you want to elect Assistant Jesus or Assistant Satan or in-between, that is on you. I am only interested in trading.

It's painful to read you attempting to dress up internalised racism and sweeping stereotype as "reality" and "research" .

1. The research you cited and failed to provide its source was likely conducted from a Eurocentric perspective using a specific cultural standard of beauty. It's improper an strange behaviour for you as an African to universalize that standard and use it to wrongly label your own sisters and brothers as unattractive., the "bottom of the list" . It's like tasting apple to determine the flavour of a rare and exotic African fruit like " Agbalumo"( the African star apple) . You will completely miss it.
A research conducted in the predominantly white West has to be Eurocentric, and there is nothing wrong with that. If the research were to be conducted in sub-Saharan Africa, African features would come top. BTW, the research is publicly available, and there are also studies which show few marriages between Blacks and Asians. Is that also Eurocentric?

2. Your claim that black women " can get too fat" is a harmful and unscientific stereotype. Body size and shape vary greatly within every single racial and ethnic group. To assign a physique to an entire race of diverse women is what prejudice really is. The woman who's currently regarded as the most sexually attractive woman in the world is the Spanish athletic of African descent, Fatima Diame. She combines athleticism, beauty and grace. She is frequently celebrated across social media as one of the most gorgeous and sexeist athletes in the world. People everywhere, both White and Black, gush over her attractiveness. Yet, she's just one example of millions of other Black women with here kind of powerful and graceful physique.
That is an exception, not the norm. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Black women are better appreciated in Black dominated environments than in places with few Black people. The phrase "can get too fat" might come across as too harsh, but in reality, Black women have greater body mass compared to women from other racial groups, except maybe those in South America. Steatopygia isn't common to women outside Southern Africa, and we see it in variations across Black women in West Africa, Central Africa, Black dominated areas in the US and the Caribbean.

3. The idea of "elite white men" and their preference which you want to present as natural isn't that , but something that's deeply rooted in historical power dynamics, not biology.
Historical dynamics? This sounds like the typical lovey-dovey diatribe I read daily. So, what would the fewer marriages between Black women and Asian men be called?

4.And where's the evidence or research which supports your claim that the reason Nigerian women congregate in the southern part of the US is to increase their chances of getting married ? This kind of talk is exactly the reason I said you are attempting to dress up sweeping stereotype as " research" But even if marriage were a factor, what's wrong with that?
Nigerian women in the US have made countless videos relating their experiences in the dating world, and the best places they recommend to find husbands are where there are a lot of Black people or specifically Nigerians, and these places are in the Southeastern and South-central parts of the US.

Or you think the behaviour is unique to Nigerian women? Don't we have Chinese, Mexicans, Latin Americans, and Indians and countless other immigrant groups in the US congregating in areas where they can find their own people ? Are the women from these other races doing the same because they want to increase their chances of getting married ? The desire to congregate in places where you can find your own people is a universal tendency and not something peculiar to Nigerian women.
Oh! So we agree that humans prefer those who look, talk and behave like them, abi? We agree on one thing, then.

And let's be clear about something. The real reason Nigerian men and women congregate in certain areas in the US is primarily for community and cultural familiarity. They have moved from a deeply communal society to a country where the dominant culture is highly individualist, "every man for himself.", and so, congregating in a place where they can speak their language, eat their local delicacies and maintain their traditions will make them feel at home in a foreign country. For you to now reduce this complex human need for belonging to a simple strategy for marriage is not only incorrect, but very reductive.
You have simply agreed that humans prefer their kind, yet you are against my statement. If they wish to live amongst their kind, does this not mean they wish to marry within their group and raise families within that same group?

Your logic that people prefer their own is flawed. If what you claim is true, then there would be virtually no interracial marriages , and the success and happiness of Black women in such marriages across Europe and in the US, like my own cousin who married an Italian expat she met in Nigeria wouldn't exist.
Honestly, this is the issue I have with lovey-dovey folks - the blatant disregard for basic mathematics and probabilities. No wonder your cohort in the US wanted to ban mathematics in California because "math is racist". These are the issues.

For one, the rate of inter-racial marriages is low and has always been low, whether in the US, Brazil and South Africa, all of which are amongst the most racially diverse societies.

A mere Internet search shows the following:
US: 19% of newlyweds are inter-racial
Brazil: 30% with the majority between Whites and Pardos (mixed Brazilians). In other words, White Brazilians prefer mixed Brazilians over purely Black Brazilians.
South Africa: 11.4% with the majority being between Black South Africans and Coloured South Africans. Whites are the least likely to marry out.
The Netherlands: 10% - 16%.
England and Wales (the subject being discussed): 7%. In fact, the search reveals that often the pairings between White British are with other WHITE PEOPLE from Eastern Europe. England is the most acceptable place for Black people throughout Europe, and where Black people thrive rather than survive throughout the continent. The US is home to African Americans who constitute the wealthiest group of Black people in the world. Common sense means outside these places, the rate of inter-racial marriages between Blacks and other races wouldn't be HIGH or COMMON.

This is basic mathematics, psychology and economics, aka 1 + 1 = 2, not 500 as lovey-dovey folks like to talk.

Your sister marrying an Italian expat is an EXCEPTION, not the NORM. There are many single Nigerian women in Italy who don't have Italian husbands, even though they speak fluent Italian. There will always be inter-racial marriages, but what is the rate compared to the rest of the population? What has the rate been since?

My advice at this point is that you take your time to investigate the root causes of why some people strictly prefer their own race. If you do this, I am sure you will out that the actual reason is lack of exposure and enlightenment . Often, people, whether Black or White, aren't consciously aware that they're reacting to the unconscious programming which guides them on what to accept or reject as attractive. The truth is , they often aren't thinking for themselves, they're making judgements based on this ingrained programming, which they later try to justify with rationale sounding reasons. This means their racial preferences or rejections aren't based on logic, but on a conditioned sentiment that is ,at its core, inherently racist
I would have skipped this side if not for the "lack of exposure and enlightenment" phrase. What makes you think you are more enlightened or exposed than I am? Why should an overdose of exposure and enlightenment override basic human behaviours? So we should disregard actual inter-racial marriage statistics because of eXpOsUrE aNd eNlIgHtEnMeNt?

This is the worst you have said here.
Advising "any Black woman" to leave Europe and return to Africa or the Caribbean so they can find a marriage partner isn't a solution. It's advising them to surrender to a racist status quo. It's advising them to shrink their lives and opportunities rather than challenging a society to expand its definition of what's considered beautiful and desirable
.
Tell this to the hordes of Black women in Europe and the US lamenting the lack of husbands. Tell this to Nigerian women in the UK who say there are no suitable suitors. Tell this to second-generation Nigerian women in the UK who move to Nigeria to find husbands. Challenging what is considered to be beautiful, you say? So you want to challenge and erase basic human tendencies to prefer people like them, the same tendency you earlier supported? Who are you to dictate to other people who they should marry and copulate with?

Honestly , I am encouraging you to investigate the root causes of racial preference so that you don't become an unconscious conduit for harmful stereotypes. The ideas you have expressed here aren't neutral observations, they're damaging racial sentiments that have real world consequences for how people are perceived and treated
The root causes of racial or even tribal preferences are basic human preferences for people who look like them. P for Period. Why is this difficult to grasp? Humans prefer those who speak, look and talk like they do. How is this a bad thing? In fact, this is the basis for human survival over the years - mating with those who look, speak and behave like themselves. This is how different groups have survived and lasted without being erased for thousands of years.
