I think it's a Nigerian women thing.

This is the reason why lots of successful male sportsmen like Osimhen avoid them like a plague and instead date ladies from other nationalities.

The entitlement mentality of the average Nigerian woman is exponential. Very hungry creatures.
Bros, women are hypergamous all over the world. Despite the gender equal rights and laws in Nordic countries, women there still prefer men who earn more than they (women) do. Tomorrow, they would shout gEnDeR pAy gAp. Thank God that narrative has stopped.

Women being women. Nothing surprising.

What surprises me is how they fail to realise that their participation in the labour market leads to a shrinkage of financially stable men whom they wish to maintain their hypergamy.

Not every country buys nigeria crude oil. Belgium seldom buys nigeria crude oil, but it but more of cocoa
Just English
No agricultural produce can outplay crude oil in revenue
Do you know how many derivatives is gotten from crude oil
Before Dangote, we exported raw crude. I am not advocating for a replacement of crude, but we can become major processors of the cash crops we cultivate. Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam do so. Vietnam exported $1.1bn of cassava products to China alone. We are the highest producers globally, but Thailand is the biggest exporter of value-added cassava. These are medium many factories can be created to provide jobs. We need factory jobs in mass numbers.

Bros, what can we do but sigh, and continue to help.
However, it is most worrisome that if one can't do a simple google search in English, how would cope in Japan with the language.
Tell the person to read the thread from the beginning to the end. Afterwards, the person should conduct a basic Google search. Finally, a very specific question can be asked.

Anyone who cannot conduct basic research in English on the Internet CANNOT THRIVE in Japan. It is not possible.

I agree with never begging a woman for sex, but the bold is false. Men need sex more than women. It is basic biology. The enjoyment aspect is also false. Most women don't enjoy sex with men, especially when they are not connected emotionally. And our women have to pretend even if they enjoy it because they would be labelled as ashawo.

Don't let that stop you.

Look for schools and Professors that carry out your research of interest.

Write an introductory mail to the Professor.

In your mail use your Africanness for once. We don't use this our "STRENGTH " so much i personally believe.

Your Situation is as follows.
You are from a poor African coubtry and will want ot further your education. However you dont have all the funds.
You would like do a a research in bla bla, which is why you send a mail to him.
Talk about how you value Japan work and resaerch ethics.
You have funds for say 1 semester, would t be possible for the professor to help you with scholarship?

In th emeantime research about MEXT.
Would it be possible for the professor to nominate you for MEXT scholarship as well?

Send this tkind of mail to as many as many profesor in your field of interest.

But you should be ready before sending such a mail.
By ready ; do you have the following:
1. A draft copy of your research of interest? ( read 2 pages backwards )
2. physical and scanned copies of your educational quals?
3. physical and scanned copies of your transcript?
4. Ielts academic?

My Humble 2 cents.
The thing is that you have written this template like four times on this thread. The question is: what stops prospective applicants from going through this thread from the beginning to the end?

I am not a fan of feeding bottle mentality. Everything has been stated for like four years now.

@ topic . About what percentage of these graduates attend universities?....and remain after two years? They should have a list of the graduates .... and their grades.
The school produced one of the highest UTME/JAMB scorers of 2023/4. The belief that top secondary schools don't produce grads with stellar grades is misplaced.

Nigeria's economy needs to grow. The poverty mentality it creates amongst its citizenry is very dangerous.

Lol at the quoted. You’re using the internet, a phone, or a laptop 😀 tools your shallow mind couldn’t even conceive of if you were given a billion years.😁

For your information: all cultures have mixed and many have been erased entirely. The Anglo-Saxons were absorbed by the Normans. Gaul was swallowed by the Romans and eventually became France. The Arabian Peninsula saw countless local cultures wiped out and replaced with Islamic culture. This is not unique to Africa, that's how history works.

Africa’s tragedy is that we were isolated for much of history. While other continents were exchanging ideas, technologies, and institutions, raising the collective “technological floor”.. large parts of Africa were cut off by geography, thick forests, and poor navigable connections. Yes, we had great empires: Mali, Songhai, Benin, Aksum.. but make no mistake, we were no match for the great empires of other continents by the time we made contact with the west. The gap wasn’t racial it was a result of our consequences living in thick, inpenentrable enclaves.

Also cultural contact, even assimilation, isn’t inherently bad. The bad part is that we, as blacks, are too lazy and too distracted (distracted by crying and irrelevance) to use the leverage we have now, leverage our ancestors never dreamed of. The internet. Free access to global knowledge. Technology and education the world shares far more openly than in the past.

The Chinese were colonized, carved up, and humiliated, yet they rose by using the tools available to them. The Japanese were obliterated by two atomic bombs, but they didn’t waste decades hating the West..no, they rebuilt and now sit as equals at the table of power.

I implore my fellow blacks to start our own Renaissance, lets fast-track ourselves into that precarious committee of nations as equals, not as perpetual beggars for arms and aid. The constant ritual of blaming whites for how we failed is humiliating, self-defeating, and beneath the dignity of any people who claim they want respect.
Thank you so much for this.

I had to quote it because every day I think about it, I realise there is a limit to blaming the White man. We cannot continue to blame the White man in 2025. The White man is more concerned about his falling fertility rate.

Funny enough, most of the cocoa farms were already dying due to low patronage and market because most younger generation were not interested in it anymore.
Infact, some farmers were uprooting cocoa trees to plant cashew, palm oil and rubber trees but I guess many will run back into the business now.
My grandfather who died 5 years ago had 100's of cocoa farm and was even far richer than his children in cities doing civil servant jobs yet, no one deem it fit to go back to run the farms in Osun and ondo
Interesting. The diseases and weather really affected Ivorian and Ghanaian farmers. Our farmers, those in Liberia and Cameroon, are the major beneficiaries. Unlike in Ivory Coast and Ghana, there is no price regulation for cocoa in the other trio. The free market wins. The increased prices have jolted Brazil, Peru and even Papua New Guinea to cultivate more cocoa so they can harvest and export.

And yes, up until now, our total annual tonnes per annum have been reducing. Na small we take gap Cameroon. My fear is Brazil - those guys are very good at agriculture. If they surpass us, Ivoriens and Ghanaians should be afraid.

If the Chinese and later Indians can adopt chocolates like the Europeans, hopefully, the price will remain high enough. May climate change continue to affect cocoa plantations elsewhere. When I saw the increased prices earlier this year and even read a prominent French banker's analysis, I went to church the following Sunday and told the pastor, "Cocoa prices have shot up this year and last year. Pastor, you Yoruba people have made a sheet load of money". The pastor smiled. grin

Farming is good. Our farmers need security, and our big boys need to go into processing and exporting. No be every time land banking and real estate wey no get pedestrian walkways. 🙄

Now in my hometown in Osun state, the cocoa farmers are daring yahoo boys to compete with them because yahoo boys don do them shege in the past sleeping with their wives.
1 ton sold for close to 10m, which means a 100kg bag sold for 1m
Thanks for the correction. If I am to correct it now, anti spam bot would block me. Cocoa beat crypto as the best performing internationally traded commodity in 2024.

The menace of yahoo yahoo boys is disheartening, coupled with their so-called diabolical practices. I am very glad that a legitimate means of earning really good money (in USD) is available and in the hinterlands. Only oil workers, tech remote workers and investment bankers can compete with cocoa merchants. The bad thing about yahoo yahoo is that those boys have mentally subjected themselves to believing in earning money via illegal means. They have lost the patience for delayed gratification. This is why policymakers elsewhere ensure a large proportion of young men don't engage in illegal activities to earn money. They find it hard to change their paths.

Yahoo yahoo is a bad thing for our society.

Yes, you need more money as that is roughly the tuition fees for a year at a national university, and the remainder cannot provide your living expenses in Tokyo for that one year.

600K ke? It was 1.1m per tonne. Take it or leave it. Traders had to go to far-flung states to buy cocoa because it was in enormous demand in the major producing states.

Fantastic news.

I was with a state government official recently when he said that Akwa Ibom is on the coat tail of his state (Ondo) and may likely surpass Ondo as the highest producer of cocoa in a few years.
Interestingly, I also heard that many of the farm hands and workers in Ondo cocoa farms are from Akwa Ibom. Many of the original owner families stopped showing much interest in the farms when cocoa prices was depressed for so many years. Now that prices have shot through the roof, they are returning to reclaim their farms.Nigeria should certainly take advantage of the current international market situation.
There are Osun, Oyo, Ondo and Ekiti. Then, there is Cross River. Akwa Ibom has a long way to go.

It is our people who deserve the initial appellation, not just the governors. Ebonyi people supported Umahi for the airport, now event centre, that he built. In Ekiti, there is support for an airport. Abia, too, has support.

It is an expensive business to enter And also the market size is small.

There aren't much travellers from Nigeria, you can actually check the daily traffic online and compare with some countries with almost similar population size like ours.
Go to any major airport in Nigeria and you won't see much people in the hall. I have been to airport in Nigeria where only 100 people were in the waiting hall.
Another stuff is that if 5 airlines control 75 percent of traffic that means jobs in that industry will be very competitive and it means, it is near impossible to progress in your career
Brilliant summation!

Every day, one realises how poor our country is. We poor o! Chai!

Number one, we have fewer international tourists. Namibia receives more tourists than we do. Our visa friendliness is based on an unnecessarily strongman attitude, whereas we should waive visa restrictions for every country with a GDP per capita of $10K.

Honestly, we don't have serious and intelligent political elites!
TravelRe: Only Five Airlines Control 75% Of Air Traffic In Nigeria – Rewane by Gerrard59(m): 4:52pm On Aug 09, 2025
SmartPolician:
Nigerians are extremely poor people and air travels are exclusively reserved for the privileged minority.

In those countries you are comparing with Nigeria like the UK, their government is massively subsidizing their air travels.
That's why they can afford it and their airports have more traffic than Nigerian airports. If you really want to know if Nigerians travel, visit motor parks.
Which country subsidises air travel? That is a bucket for a country to put money inside. Those countries subsidise their airline companies, not the citizens to fly them. They do this so their airline companies are competitive in the global aviation market. In return, their capitals become aviation hubs for transit flights, thus increasing tourism revenues. Additionally, the geographical position of these countries makes sense as they connect much bigger hubs to each other. Dubai connects Europe to Asia. Singapore connects Southeast Asia to Australasia and Europe.

I doubt countries subsidise their citizens. Singaporeans complain bitterly about the airfares of Singapore Airlines.

The reality is that Nigeria is a poor country surrounded by much poorer nations; otherwise, we ought to be a connecting hub for other West African countries to Southern Africa.
