CoronaVirusPro: You still face same harsh reality irrespective of how you legalized. It’s still same system.
Working like a clock in a system where you a minority and the pay doesn’t even correspond to expenses.
The good old days of abroad are gone. Now, you earn moderately to pay your bills, and even when you pick extra jobs, at the expense of your time, sanity and relationship with your family.
Abroad will keep you on your toes till you die. Even in death, you still need good money to hit the grave, and after death, probation courts starts hunting your assets.
That life only amuses JJC’s and newbies. When they run same pattern for a decade, they start rethinking knowing it’s not life.
The harsh reality of abroad will only start hitting you after an average of 10 years. Initially, you find it fun, that time you be converting dollars to Naira thinking you doing fine. Overtime, harsh reality sets in automatically. This is largely a skill and sociable issue. Nigerians in the US don't experience these issues. Old age reach, enter Texas and Atlanta. Costa Rica and other retiree countries are close by. Nigerians who have resided for a decade in developed countries would find it difficult adjusting to life in Nigeria. Everything would be so different. |

That’s going to be so irritating Can it really be true that most women have innate bisexual tendencies? They do. There are research publications to support the statement. |

Angelfrost: This is just the problem...!
Africans, especially Nigerians, export their well known poor customer service and rudeness abroad.
Call them on the phone and the moment they know you are not "white", their tone and manner will change to perfunctory and rude.
While Black Americans already have a complex towards their fellow race from Africa and Caribbean, the African immigrants need to learn to stop acting superior and condescending towards their fellow blacks.
Even here in Africa, we can't even unite... How do you then unite abroad?!! The solution is for Black Africa to be rich. Before Mainland China became rich, Hong Kong and Singaporean Chinese looked down on Mainland China. Not anymore. Without Mainland Chinese patronage, both Hong Kong and Singapore would experience severe economic crises. As it's, African Americans and Black South Africans are the wealthiest groups of Black people globally. The reason they are seen as "proud". But hey, I cannot blame them that much.. |

Go to the UK or other western world, you will see that Nigerians hold important roles in global corporations too. Most people wouldn't want to accept it, but I strongly believe that should Black people get to the same wealth position as Whites, we would be more racist. |

Sad though, that Dangote could not find a Nigerian. There aren't many Nigerians with refining experience on a global scale. Before his refinery, Nigeria was a major importer of petroleum products. So where would have such Nigerians obtained cognate experience from? |

IbeOkehie:
A perfect example why price controls fail. History always repeat itself. Smuggling of cocoa beans is rife in Ivory Coast and Ghana because authorities in both countries set the price at which the beans are sold. Prices which are way lower than the market rate. However, in Liberia, Nigeria and Cameroon, smuggling does not exist.
The free market wins, yet again.

We had a terrorist as our president for 8 years. Most people, especially the obdurate ones, don't know the effect Buhari's presidency had on Nigeria. @gerrar.d59 you condemned her for it. She has a father and brother(s). There are good men and bad men. What we should focus on is condemning criminal and heinous atrocities committed by individuals irrespective of gender. Yes, due to biological reasons such as a raging hormone, men tend to constitute most culprits. So, these bad men should be arrested and sentenced to death. However, tarring every man with the same brush is not a good thing. |

When I say Nigerian political elites have failed, this is a perfect example. For those pushing the Edo state governor to do something - which he won't do anyway as he's an APC member - the reality is that nothing would happen.
Months ago, there was rampant kidnapping in a part of Edo state; traditional rulers complained, youths cried out for help as their women were killed and lands intruded into. As no help was forthcoming, they prepped themselves and decided to enter the forest where they believed hostages are held and the criminals (Fulani herdsmen) conducted their activities. What happened afterwards? The Nigerian police went to the said community to arrest the youths! I'm not making this up - everything is on Google. |

IbeOkehie: I was going to send you an email because I've become too let down by Nairaland to look for the appropriate place for this, but I didn't know if you would object to that mode of communication. I remember you oppose my suggestion that Nigeria should make bitcoin & etherium legal tender. The United States has done it; some would say it's not really that but it is. At least a stride, not a step, in that direction. Look up the Genius Act signed by President Trump. Introducing competition for fiat currency and ultimately abolishing it is a huge advance for the Anglo culture of limited government. Black African culture and mentality are the complete anti-thesis to the idea of human freedom, which is why they champion government involvement in everything.
https://www.investing.com/news/cryptocurrency-news/what-is-driving-the-ethereum-resurgence-4144023 God Save the King & God Bless the USA. Good Luck to Nigerians. I too wanted to send you an email, but thought it would be way too formal for the kind of discussion. Nigeria would never make bitcoin as legal tender. I am not fully convinced of its benefits, and until more countries (both within and outside the Anglosphere West, for instance, Germany and Switzerland, then later South Korea, China and Japan), I would become fully convinced. Also, we need to see the results of such an implementation. But with recent events, the White man is superior. Even their elites challenge themselves and question others. I saw the reaction of Brits cursing Donald Trump for speaking ill of the Mayor of London. Seriously, all cultures are not equal. Some are more equal than others. |

Adulthood is characterised by paying bills. The category of adults who don't pay bills is children of parents who own houses where they (the children) live. They don't have to pay rent. But the houses must have electricity, water, must be maintained etc., These are recurring bills. Anyone who complains of paying bills is either lazy or entitled. |

Karlman: Let us fold our hands and watch where Tinubu and his ethnic politics is taking Nigeria.
The most interesting truth is that most of this people claiming and changing street names are not actually from lagos. They are not lagosians by origin, just other yorubas who came from different states in the South West. A lot of them don't even own half plot of land in lagos. Fact remains that time will come when the real lagosians will be able to take over political leadership in lagos I've mentioned this thing tire, you cannot impose your cultural norm of origin on another ethnic group. For instance, in Japan, it doesn't matter where you were born or your parents prefecture of origin (their own state of origin), you can become a mayor of any city provided you're a registered member in the city's council records. Someone born in Kyoto can become Tokyo's mayor if the person is registered in Tokyo's records. Your parents' origin has no basis. It's dependent on the city you're registered. So, if Yorubas from say Kogi decide to become political office holders in Lagos, you - especially a non-Yoruba - don't have the right to challenge it. Una no wan hear word.... |

Would not change the fact that many of them are still suffering It's going to generate into a much bigger crises. The problem with our people is their lack of foresight and always being so optimistic. Mind you, these are the educated ones o, including those who studied and live(d) abroad. Then imagine those who don't have such exposure? This ethnic bigotry towards Igbos has been rearing its head since 2011 with an increment in 2015 and final episode in 2023. It's going to be worse in 2027. Well, you see why I would never deride the likes of Farage or Trump? The White man is better off and way superior. I used to even think Igbo women who are wives to prominent Yoruba men would wade in, but well, everyone's offspring will learn a thing or two. |

pansophist: Travelling abroad is like being a guest in a rich relative's house. Sure you might have everything you want in your room, but his wife doesnt like you. She wont show it, but you know due to the exclusion during gatherings, the foods they dish out to you, and her daughter who always frowns anytime you turn on the tv. You might be comfortable materially, but you sacrificed your esteem, the feeling of belonging, and swallowing your eba in peace without someone looking at you like you're a bushman,
If where you have to return to is not worse like a warzone, you may go back and regain your sanity. But when you see where you have to return to, you might just as well stay back and hope for better days. To be fair, I think you write this based on your experiences (Northern Europe). I reside in East Asia, so I can understand your perspective. But for Nigerians in the UK and US, I strongly doubt they have similar thoughts. There are way too many Nigerians domiciled in those countries who would never think of returning to Nigeria. |

They miss being worshiped in public by poor people, bank security or area boys. They miss not having the opportunity to do corrupt things without consequences. For those who have acquired citizenship they know they can use it to get access to certain spaces, jobs, contracts so they always talk about coming back home. For the babes they are tired of working to pay their own bills when odogwu used to cover all the bills in Nigeria So the 50-50 equality they campaigned for na scam?
