How can a man be this obese? How on earth did it progress to that stage? 😩 |
phorget:Where is the WMD they said Iraq had? See the results of removing Gaddafi. How is Syria doing today? I wish people understood that these Middle Eastern countries aren't entirely to be blamed. They just want to survive. |
This is why it is hard for ladies to visit men in their abodes even if the latter are harmless. I really need to domicile in a place where there are Black women, and it is safe for them. How can one grow a harem in a place where femicide is condoned? |
lildush:Does this justify their death?........... |
efemena5050:We have had those ladies killed as well. Bamidele was hacked to death by a BRT driver on her way back home. Umoren was killed because she went job hunting. The way una dey reason is so despicable! |
emmaodet:Exactly, and I am surprised Russians are quick to forget how the US and its allies vassals treated them before the Cold War, during it and after it. If Trump is said to be pro-Putin, what happens when he is gone and/or the Democrats enter? Why do they think it would be different? Iran has stood fiercely behind Russia and this is the time to show assistance for all that help, but nothing. It is very unfortunate. As for China, I really cannot tell why it is not interested in helping Iran, but Russia owes Iran a lot in these trying times. That said, this world and life are just so unfair. To the layman out there, Iran is a terrorist nation, but he forgets that the British and the Americans truncated their democratically elected leadership - Mohammad Mossadegh - simply because he nationalised their oil industry. The Islamists took over after removing the Western-imposed Shah. So, it is not a Muslim or Christian affair, but a country that has suffered so much simply because it wants to be independent. I was very little when I watched the flames of bombs in Iraq and did not quite understand why a country would bomb another country to extinction. The WMD dem say Iraq get, we never see am till date. I was very ignorant, and I am still ashamed that I supported the removal of Muammar Gaddafi of Libya. Then Libya was safe for many Black Africans to work and send money home. It was pretty easy to pass through there onwards Europe. Today, Libya has turned into a slave depot for Black Africans. Black African women are sold into sex slavery, and worst of all, the fall of Gaddafi made dangerous weapons to proliferate across Sahel Africa, which affects us to date. It is part of the reasons I don't criticise other people's cultures, provided they keep those practices to themselves. I don't have to like those cultures, but every human or group of people should be allowed to practice what makes them happy, provided they don't force outsiders to practice the same. I wish the people of Iran strength and courage. I know say e no easy, but I wish them all the bravery they need. |
Tightpussy2024:Well, so far, women are deciding not to even marry at all. So, women have avoided the single mother tag and at the same time aren't birthing the next generation. As I do say, modern day women have won it in life. This generation is so goooood for una. ![]() |
RodgersAkpafu:The focus on total fertility rate is not on those who have children, but those who wish to have children or in general, young people who ought to be married and are expected to have children. Those are the groups policymakers are focused on, not people with children. On the contrary, career-headed women have fewer children than their counterparts outside the corporate world. This is a universal phenomenon. I am sure women in corporate Nigeria (Lagos specifically) have fewer children than those in Ogun or Cross River. Career-minded women are even the ones who marry late, have children later and have very few of them. The Motherhood Tax is the major reason they drag their feet regarding procreation. Again, women are the sole forebearers of children, and as long as the right to choose, economic opportunities and birth control are available, the stats all over the world show that this group of women would opt for fewer children. The reality is that: this group of women don't want to have children because the process (childbirth) and raising children would alter their bodies, careers and lifestyle. We now live in a world where choices are more respected, therefore women (and men) who would have hitherto had to be forced into traditional marriage and kids are now opting to not have the kidsA summary of what I explained above. 2. Men just like women are increasingly NOT wanting to commit to marriage or have kids either. Here in Britain, the men will tell you that the cost of living is crushing and as such, don't have any plan at least in the interim to have kidsYes, the cost of living is crushing because there are fewer jobs available to enable the man to become a provider. Women have taken at least 50% of most professional jobs, and in some industries, they have over half of those jobs. At the same time, these women are hypergamous. So, we have high earning women seeking high earning men who are not as abundant as before, and as expected, have so many options. Correspondingly, we have a growing number of single women who have decided not to marry (in most cases wouldn't birth children), not because there aren't men, but because there are few marriageable men, aka men with the financial resources. There are so many studies and articles on the topic. It is a global issue: women no just wan born children once they have economic opportunities, freedom to choose and birth control. In fact, birth control is the most powerful as it represents total control of one's reproductive system. 3. Marriage rates is dropping not due to a particular gender but a general societal phenomenon. If anything, it's the women crying out that they are no good men out there to marry than vice versa. In Jaoan they even had the MGTOW thing. Shey you will blame women for that as well?Women have to define "good men" here. In my opinion, as women became educated and earned their money, they became very choosy about the kind of men they want. This is perfectly okay. The question is whether men have aligned with this change of course. 4. Even in the gulf states, birth rates have essentially collapsed. Will you say that it is the women alone? or its a generation OF PEOPLE, male and female alike buying into the idea of having less kids to have more time for other thingsEconomic opportunities and birth control. Birth rates are higher in Yemen. Wealthier societies have fewer children. Wealthier countries have high literacy rates. Women control childbearing. Educated women have fewer children. The education is a potent force. Educate women and birth rates fall yakata. This is universal. How come this does not work on men? No be men dey born children. We need to rethink the foundations to which we built and structured economic knowledge around.Yes, the world needs to change the economic structure, but I would not want to base myself permanently in a country with a shrinking population, a growing elderly population and an anaemic youthful demographic. In the next decade or two, pension systems go collapse. People no go fit see pension. MMM on steriods! But oligarchs wanna line their pockets so....I look forward to it. |
Something tells me you come from a family of too many siblings. As for your brother, the truth of the matter be say womanising, as exhilarating as it is, is an expensive hobby. Na person wey chop belly full suppose dey womanise, not money just come. The minimum is to ensure a consistent and constant cash flow as a man from your sources of income before engaging in the hobby. |
johnerry77:As a fresh graduate, why do you want a masters? It's pointless as it adds nothing to your profile. You don't have work experience, so you will be an expensive hire for any company when there are equally available bachelors who are affordable. Ask yourself, apart from a pure water MSc, what differentiates you from the layman bachelor, another pure water degree, out there? You need work experience and as for cybersecurity, you need GLOBALLY RECOGNISED certifications to get an entry level job. So many young people I see raving about cybersecurity are very ignorant about the employability prospects in that field. |
GloriousGbola:Fair and balanced comment. I agree with the backlash regarding her posting it, but I can understand since she is a celebrity aka in the showbiz industry. However, except for Tecno phones, most above-average Internet-enabled phones cost a lot in the country. So, in your opinion, what kind of phone should someone like her daughter possess or the average 16-year-old in Nigeria? |
deji17:Buying an iPhone for your child is not materialism. Seriously, I really wish Nigeria becomes as rich as Malaysia so we don't see certain things as luxury. An iPhone is a phone and a basic item held by many young people in most parts of the world. I have seen ten-year-olds hold the latest iPhones, all bought for by their parents. |
micxwell:Thanks for this comment because I could recall many folks who are parents now chided their own parents when the likes of Mark Zuckerberg, Nicholas D'Aloisio of Summly and other young Americans/Westerners started multi billion dollar tech companies during the mid-2000s to 2010s. The narrative was that these Americans/Westerners had access to devices at a young age, while they (children then) did not have. Today, the same people have become parents and are restricting mobile devices from their children, but expect the same children to out-compete Chinese kids and Westerners in creating the next big companies in technology. |
RodgersAkpafu:Bros, while we agree to disagree, as long as women, with all the economic opportunities and reproductive rights they possess, are not WILLING to have more children, there is nothing that can be done. Women are the sole bearers of children, and so far and across the globe, they are staying off childbearing whether in gender equal societies or culturally repressive ones. Governments have provided all sorts of benefits from Norway to South Korea to Singapore to Hungary to the UK, yet birth rates are dwindling, not increasing. In fact, marriage rates are receding, not climbing. And BTW, my controversial view is that falling birth rates is a good thing, and that more men and women are not choosing to have kids.I am also an advocate for fewer children, especially from a Nigerian perspective. But how do you solve a world with fewer consumers? Fewer productive demographics? A collapsing pension system? Fewer hands to build and maintain infrastructure? Why governments and oligarchs are complaining is because of HOW they structured the current world order. around exploitative capitalism where you need an endless supply of economic agents that keep grinding themselves to feed into a wasteful consumerist system, which in turn makes more and more wealth for the oligarchs at the top. But that's an argument to expand another day.Obviously a matter for another day. |
RodgersAkpafu:Their cousins in North America and Europe are equally rich and top of the global chain. It rubs off them. I think what it is, is that nothing beats BEING A SERIOUS ETHNIC GROUP, and it pains me to say, that as black people. we ARE NOT a serious ethnic group, so whether home and abroad, the outcome will still remain the same. That would be done from sub-Saharan Africa, not in the UK. The Chinese people you referenced here are better off with an American kpali and (relatively) independent economic base (and as an added bonus, enjoy more freedoms relatively) than their counterparts in China. They did not have much leverage or outward influence when Mainland China was poor. How come their influence is overstated or exaggerated now? Why not during the '80s or '90s? How come many are willing to pack their bags back to China or neighbouring countries? The stats are there. Renowned ethnic Chinese academics are leaving the US gradually for China. How many Nigerian academics in the UK have done the same for Nigeria? Talking about restrictions, I follow r/Biotech and posts there state that many Chinese are being prevented from accessing certain laboratories or positions in universities and companies. These Chinese know it as well. So, it is untrue to state that they don't experience restrictions simply because their big brother is advancing as well and their adopted land is vehemently against it. All these right wing media ppl are picking on us here in Britain PRIMARILY because we don't appear to be a serious people to be taken seriously. No community cohesion, no organised interests, nothingAgain, you do this from sub-Saharan Africa, not in the UK. Respect comes from the level of advancement in one's ancestral homelands, not the adopted home. See the book, "It is not about Whiteness, it is about wealth" by Remi Adekoya, a Nigerian-Polish professor in the UK. |
RodgersAkpafu:The stats so far - across the world - show that modern day women are not interested in childbearing at least to hit replacement levels. Should we now force women to have children when they clearly don't want to have children? |
pansophist:As usual, nice comment. First, the belief that Iran is sacrificed so Russia has its way with Ukraine was similar to that of Syria, yet Ukraine, within the period Israel Assad got toppled over, has attacked Russia relentlessly. So, if the Syrian sacrifice analogy did not work, why do we think it is the same with Iran? Second, at the bold, that got me worried as well. The terms, at least as known to the public, don't really favour the Chinese, as American chips are still banned from being sold to Chinese firms. Except for the removal of the ban on chip software services from companies like Synopsys and Cadence Design, Huawei and other major Chinese chip firms still face sanctions. The EU is still sanctioning Chinese firms for providing weapons to Russia, and the US is doing the same to Chinese firms that purchase Iranian oil. |
Truth is: many of our men cannot fit into societies in the abroad. Dem go too full jail. While his side of the story should be listened to, the damages those girls received are horrendous. As for whether girls or women in general should go to the club, this is largely a Nigerian thing as there are equally Black dominated societies where the female gender is free to attend events in piece, and not in pieces. Finally, Rivers residents ditto their Bayelsan counterparts tend to be very belligerent in nature. |
The title of the thread is apt. I served in Ogun and the best roads were in the capital - Abeokuta - while the worst roads I've ever seen and experienced were ALL in Ota. Ota has miserable roads for a local government that hosts educational institutions and mega factories. As the title states, the good roads are ALWAYS on the Lagos axis, not Ogun's. Ogun residents, especially those in Ota, and their counterparts in Abia have suffered terribly. I pity them wholeheartedly. |
shoodboi2:Tor! Then, anything they see, they should take it like that. |
Iran is gone as far as I am concerned. The moment an enemy nation has control over your airspace at its will, consider yourself gone. Israel has been ruthless with Gaza and Syria. It would be far ruthless regarding Iran as it is a do or die affair, aka a once in a lifetime opportunity, aka now or never. I wonder what Russia and China have to say about these events because, should Iran go down (I strongly believe this will happen), they don't have allies in the region, and the West has completed its dominion of the Middle East. Next, they will face the East fully prepared. How does China intend to withstand this oncoming onslaught? Your major ally - Russia - is bogged down in an endless war. So, who will come to your rescue when your boys have been rendered finished? |
Adewale1603:With minimal strike actions and many tertiary institutions to choose from, that age should have been reduced to say 23. If you say inclusive of NYSC, then you are correct. |
I never imagined one of the renowned feminist leaders would promote early marriage or sharp sharp marriage simply on the basis of age. The same people criticised Lamido Sanusi when he got married to his bride and NL's Ja.rus. All of a sudden, ladies should get married on or before 30. Sweet Jesus. |
pansophist:What I am surprised by is the change of tone compared to five years ago. The same lady (Rene) would have charged them (tweets are there to bear me witness) to date many men in the search for the right one, and how young women have enough time to have fun. How time flies..... |
SkengRay:Yes, and it is also the generation that would be less convinced to "take care of their parents" in old age. They will be the ones to openly and bodly question their parents for having children they (the parents) cannot cater for. For those who have japa'd and would japa, they will be less interested in sending money home or returning. The future would be interesting. |
Lorayne:Firstly, thank you for your reply. Regarding this: what is the church doing about the matter? Would the church be okay to see a large number of single Northern Christian women? Do they not think that these women desire to marry and could be swayed to Muslim men since the latter are larger in number and wealthier on average than their Christian men? Is the church not cajoling Northern Christian men to marry, notwithstanding the economic hardship? If they don't marry, how would they procreate to continue the tradition and lineage of Northern Nigeria's Christians? And why are the men afraid of marriage, considering that material things (an assumption by me) less entice Northerners in general (both religions)? Also, at what rate do Northern Christian women copy or look towards the cultural lifestyle of their southern counterparts? Like, do they aspire to be like what they see in southern women? Do southern women have some sort of cultural influence on Northern Christian women? 2) For Northern Christian women, openness to marrying Southern men largely depends on religious compatibility. They are generally open to marrying Southern Christian men, as the shared faith often overrides regional differences.Fair enough. This sounds like a great opportunity. Could you please recommend avenues one can meet these Northern Nigerian Christian women? Like what kind of churches do they attend? Gatherings where they congregate? Events that they thronged? 3) Marrying a northern Muslim man almost invariably means you'll have to switch religions. While there might be rare exceptions or situations where wealth plays an unconventional role, the primary barrier is the religious conversion requirement.Understood. 4) Why Northern Christian men are not open to polygamy - i think N0 1 answers this. But sha the primary reason for Northern Christian men's monogamous stance is deeply rooted in the doctrines and teachings of our churches. These churches advocate for and often mandate monogamy for their members. It's more about adherence to religious principles and church requirements rather than solely economic considerations or a 'God will provide' mentality, which is more commonly associated with Muslim marriage. But this means there will be a large number of unmarried Northern Christian women, which poses a great problem for the entire population growth rate of Christians in Northern Nigeria. Already, the birth rates of Nigerian Christians are lower than those of their Muslim counterparts, and this is peculiar in the north. Since the church as a body is strict on monogamy, what is their stance on "cheating" by men? Do they tactically wave aside cheating by men? In clear terms, do Northern Christian men have side chics? When I refer to Northern Christians, I generally encompass the Christian populations found across the Northwest, Northeast, and significant parts of the North Central. This includes states like Plateau, Nassarawa, and parts of Kaduna and Taraba, which are often considered part of the 'Middle Belt'.Thank you, and well understood. Thank you for your time and dedication as you dish out your response. |
seunny4lif:Why did the Supreme Leader say no to North Korea's assistance? Can you recall? And oh, as it's, Iran is gone o |
Lorayne:Thanks for your response. - Do you have any idea why they are single (assuming they are willing to marry)? - Are they open to marrying southern men (Christians or Muslims)? - Are they open to being second/third/fourth wives to northern Muslim men, and if no, why? - Apart from the perception of Christianity being anti-polygamy (the Bible doesn't explicitly prohibit polygamy and all God's prophets had more than one woman), why are Northern Christian men not open to polygamy? P.S. When you mean Northern Christians in general, which parts of the country do you cover? Does it include Benue (I'm not too convinced those people are "northern enough". )? |
