Actually, I know why he says so. He is so pro-Western and consumes Western media content about Japan and East Asia. However, that is not entirely the true picture. At least, The Economist is honest enough to state where China has leapt over many developed countries. Some of the Internet technologies in China aren't available or widespread here. The same applies to the vast development of high-speed trains and robotics. China has installed more industrial robots than Japan, Germany, the US and South Korea combined. While there are major Japanese robotics companies, most of the innovative development comes from China, ditto shipbuilding. For instance, in EV-related sectors, one has to work with the Chinese whether one likes it or not.

Previously, Chinese miners sent raw earth minerals to Japan for refining, but after forced consolidation by the CCP and massive investment, everything is done in-house. The developments to build EUV machines do not exist here, unlike in China. Chinese semiconductor-related companies are replacing their Korean peers in supplying materials to buyers in China since sanctions have blocked the Korean companies from selling. Many chemical companies in Japan rely on as much as 30% of their revenues from China. Nissan is facing serious financial issues because it cannot compete with Chinese automakers. Toyota has had to revamp its offerings to compete. Mitsubishi's CEO accused Chinese automakers of "doing too much" in Southeast Asia. People under-rate China so much, and it is so amusing, especially when the Internet is widely available for many to actually follow up on real-time developments ongoing there.

What I am glad about is that some of our social media and actual influencers are going to China and airing developments right inside the country. Those who believe otherwise should continue. By 2030, we will know how far. Merely four and a half years from now.

The stats are so clear regarding technological advancements. The Chinese have surpassed everyone in Asia. Korea and Japan still have their specialist areas, but are experiencing serious competition from China, but in the generalist aspects, China is number one.

@Gerra.rd59
Have you been to China before?
No to your question.

Flights are cheap, so far you don't use the major airlines. China has many affordable airline options. Within Japan, flights are ridiculously cheap, way cheaper than using the famous Bullet Trains. This applies to other countries especially in Southeast Asia.

It is not uncommon in marriages for women to weaponize sex. I have a friend whose wife weaponizes it to him to the extent he always beg just to have it. He regularly complain about it and swore the max sex he gets in a years is 4...i mean max 4 times a year and it is always very very boring with the woman regularly complaining during the sex.......Early last year they separated when he caught is wife flirting with a mechanic, upon further digging, he got to know the woman is already banging the man sef.
After separation, the woman started sleeping around like a rabbit. This is a woman who regularly weaponize sex for her husband feeding and taking care of her...... she is driving car bought by the hubby, the man built a 4 bedroom bungalow and taking care of them in his capacity...mother of 2.
Now she looks ugly, lean and washed-up just after 18 months of divorce. I guess those sleeping with her are not giving her the money like her hubby, probably sickness from sleeping with different men..who knows.
Even though I've conversed with men whose wives weaponised sex, I never realised it was that serious or women INTENTIONALLY do it until I read through their responses to Veekee James about allowing the man just to put the head inside. The outrage was surprising. Like, they believe it's a favour to the man and can decide to put a time on it. I believe if the man does his part as a husband and father, the least he deserves is constant access when he dire needs it. But with wetin I don read (Nairaland, Twitter and Facebook), I don't envy married men o when it comes to sex.

China has surpassed Japan in almost every technological endeavour, especially technology infrastructure.

But hey, it's your prerogative to believe otherwise. That's how most people especially in Africa argued, but on getting here (East Asia), they saw the stark differences between technologies in China and Japan.

Apart from being able to afford a polygamous home, what is the difference between it and keeping a harem of concubines (which is popular with our well-to-do men)?

Also, for our men who don't desire too many children, isn't undergoing vasectomy a much better option than engaging in polygamy?

But what can the average modern woman offer a man after she has slept with more than 10 men, aborted alot, over used body if she is not going to be supporting the man financially? What kind of shitty deal is that for a man?
I will rather become a woman in that case so as to eat my cake and have it. Sleep around, live a reckless life and still have a man marry my uselesssss body and finance it till I die
Modern day women actually win it a lot and are the prize, at least in the developed world, where the economy provides stable and good jobs. Women have maintained their hypergamy, have economic opportunities and with the hypergamy still insist on getting men higher than they are. While working and as colleagues, they travel a lot. My female colleagues don go South Korea like twice within six months. Fine, mine would largely be because I am a new immigrant and passport issues, but our working-class women in the UK don visit Morocco and Central Europe steadily. Those in Canada and the US don tour South America and Mexico tire. I no dey see men for all this waka. I follow on IG who has toured almost everywhere in Europe and now seeks a "finance or tech bro". The ones I job hunted with here are touring Europe and the US steadily. Women dey enjoy life steadily, and I have realised that they can do it all by themselves without needing men's presence. But men no fit enjoy themselves without bringing women into the mix. To worsen it, the small cheating exploration wey men go do inside marriage, they are against it even after asking their husbands "if sex is food?" Like, they don't mind controlling the sexual intercourse with a timetable. He goes outside, problem. Okay, give it to him inside marriage, mbanu. Some beg and beg (shey we saw a thread on the front page?)

Na why I dey maintain my stance on having few children. That is the best way out of it, else na to toil and toil and toil and toil. Each age or decade has its own enjoyment. Enjoyment in one's 20s isn't the same as one's 30s, and both are starkly different from one's 50s, when most men begin to enjoy. This life is for enjoyment, not endurance.

So modern day and educated women have won it, bigly!

And if I may ask you can you give a workable business proposal with 20m in Nigeria? Why not suggest an endeavor for them. Not trying to attack you pls, have traveled out before to give an advice? Me I have not ooo. I guess they need to hear from people with experience really no bi home based like us
It depends on where you are from or if you are willing to move to where those items are and where you want to see yourself in, say, twenty years time. So, for instance, if you want to be a manufacturer in the long term, certainly 20m is a small capital. So to grow that capital, you have to engage in trading, preferably the products you intend to manufacture or add value to.

But please note: building a successful business in any part of the world takes time, grit and determination. Business is not something you enter today and expect rewards tomorrow. The former head of Accenture Nigeria stated it takes between 3 - 5 years to see a return on investment from a growing business.

Nothing good comes easy and sharp sharp. It takes time to compound and compound.
RomanceRe: US Based Man On Facebook Throw Subtle Jade At Nigerian Woman by Gerrard59(m): 3:53am On May 31, 2025
This is a poor country's and Nigerian, specifically Igbo people's problem.

Our people put money at the top of everything and literally worship it. While this helped us rise quickly from the ashes of the Civil War as we are the only group in Africa (I am willing to be corrected here) who got defeated in a war but succedded later by sheer strength without a MAJOR assistance compared to say Europeans (Marshall Plan) or South Korea and Japan (the US assisted them greatly). I think the Vietnamese are the other outlier group. This obsession with money has eroded some human values in our system. If it is not money, then nothing matters. It affects me, so I am no different.

Generally, women are hypergamous, and the more educated a woman is, the higher the hypergamy. So, nothing wrong here. Then combine this with an ethnic group that sees only money and nothing else? That is what you get in a modern day educated Igbo woman. In summary, Igbo men and women deserve each other. We are meant for one another, so the bickering has to stop, and the core issue solved from within.

You really think that a China in its current trajectory can actually unseat or lemme use your word, surpass the "White ones"
Lmao It's not even about the skin colour
But the cultural angle to it
The "western culture" is integral to its position of being ahead of the ROW. That is the culture that is spearheading the research power and output in western countries and four decades after, even the Chinese despite their exchange programs, academic espionage and even studying and returning to China, they cannot replicate Who has the innovative edge? Where are the cutting edge companies coming from?
I agree with the cultural angle, but if others are doing well according to the terms of their culture, my position is that they should be allowed to do so and not being coerced or forced to change according to the whims of another power.

Japan is even more technologically advanced than China, so that alone punctures that frameworks
Sorry, this is not true anymore. China is way technologically advanced than Japan. I really wish you a good time in China when you eventually move there. The argument is that South Korea is closing up on Japan technologically, but China is technologically advanced than both nations. Where Japan defeats China are:
- universal and equal access to quality healthcare
- a less mentally stressful education system, even though this is largely an East Asian problem
- low housing costs
- easy access to non-Chinese Internet infrastructure

You seem to have forgotten that Chinese people have been "jaapaing" for centuries
Chinatown in UK is over a century old
Ditto for America as well
Fair point considering they and Indians constitute over a billion each. Until the rise of intercontinental travel, Africa was off limits for the Chinese just as South America was off limits for the Indians. Whites also migrated with theirs, resulting in the extermination of the natives in those countries. Only South America is the positive outcome where they intermarried with the natives. Maybe a difference between Iberians and Anglophones/Germanic folks. Germans nearly wiped out the native Nambians.

China exclusion act in the 19th/20th Century was signed by a racist Congress way back
If that made them stay put and not leave then
What makes you think the majority here now will leave as well.....
This "racist" term seems to make it look like what Biden did by restricting Chinese-American researchers from working in the Motherland be not or less "racist". The anti-China campaign is a racist one, regardless of who spearheads it. "Why should a non-White majority country surpass a White one?" That to me is the crude basis. Tesla is good, but BYD is bad because of subsidies, whereas the former was supported by all sorts of subsidies.

Never listen to anyone who tells you to go and marry. Marry only because you feel a genuine need to do so and you feel it will add benefits to your life.

85% of people who advice others to marry use that as a subtle way of mocking single people. Then some people are jealous of you because you don't have the kind of financial responsibilities they have so they want you to marry so that you can be like them.
Then you'll hear some people say unmarried people are irresponsible. Another foolish talk. When did marriage become an achievement? There are many married people who are irresponsible. Some of of the richest people in the world are unmarried - Bill Gates, Dangote, Elon Musk, Anthony Joshua etc.

Don't let anyone push you cry
I used to hold the view that marriage does not make a man to be "responsible", but after much careful analysis, I realise that marriage indeed makes a hitherto bachelor responsible because he has to fend for and protect a household. For that singular reason, he is more responsible than a bachelor. The family is the unit of every society, so a man who provides and protects one is a responsible member of the society.

As for whether marriage is an achievement depends on the individual. Achievement is a subjective phrase. Anything can be an achievement to everyone.

Europe and AU/CA will welcome them. A few Asian options may open up. But there's no like-for-like replacement for the US.
Ethnic Chinese in the US will feel the squeeze. Every ethnicity has their fiefdom in the US and the Chinese had walled that off as their castle.
The Koreans may move in. Wouldn't bet on the Indians but it wouldn't surprise me if they filled up spots.
It is already across the entire West, including non-Anglophone countries. If ETH Zurich and Lausanne could restrict Chinese students into "critical fields", then it is everywhere. The Dutch did it. So far, it is only the French and Germans that have not restricted Chinese students or investments, at least publicly. Italy has restricted Chinese investment.

The benefits go to the Indians and maybe who knows us Africans. Koreans no dey born, so fewer people to replace. Maybe Vietnamese, but I am not too certain, especially if Vietnam does not bend to a.ttacking China. As you stated, all gloves are off. A repeat of the US War on Terror - either you are with us or against us.

What I'll say though is that the US will miss the raw brainpower and talent pipeline if they really go apesh*t with the restrictions.
They'll get past it. The US is still everyone's favorite destination on that count.
China will be a big winner. More talent without having to benchmark against generous Western offers.
Yes, China is the big winner. More talented Chinese remain in the country or are close-by thus retaining an Asian mentality.

As an aside, one of the successes of Western liberalism is furthering the notion that the US (and the West writ large) doES not operate on the primal action-reaction, push-pull paradigm. They've created this air of moral superiority where folks, especially those who buy into their dogma, believe certain actions can only be taken by Others. The Golden Billion would never. All that yucky stuff does not align with their professed values.
When an unrefined character like Trump peels back the curtain, he is met with indignation.
Like we've curated this perfect make-believe matrix. Don't blow it up.
But we all know, they do -- at least the informed ones do, that when push comes to shove, we'll all get in the trenches and throw hands like cavemen.

Others don't acquiesce, you fall back to old habits of sanctions, discrimination, sabotage, and the good ol' Freedom aircraft carriers.
Their cheerleaders would think they're beyond that.
That there is some high-level thinking to all of this.
There isn't. It's all about a primal need to dominate when in a pole position and doing everything possible to stay ahead.
Democracy. Liberty. Rights. All fancy BS that'll be sidelined at the drop of a hat when conditions deteriorate.

The most expensive secondary schools in Nigeria, and as you stated, in southern Nigeria, are in Lagos and a few in Abuja.

If u are doing comparison of places u do with road side where the common people are mainly found and not place where big big men are found. Getting a plate of food or other basic amenities on the road side in Asaba is much expensive than that of lekki.
Fair argument, but the bold needs a balanced and accurate assessment. I doubt the price of food in Asaba would be more expensive than tax suffocated Lekki. Do you know that Lagos charges a consumption tax? Is there a consumption tax in Delta?

Yeah Asaba seems to be a cool calm place, enjoyable when there is money in the pocket. Transportation is expensive especially as they buy fuel at more cost than Lagos. Average bolt ride cost me 10k ie from airport to hotel. I visited a couple of times last year.
As per hotel yes they seem quite pricey for what you can easily get in Lagos for less especially for the average - 1 to 1 star hotel. I think you get a better bargain for higher end hotels. Eg my hotel if choice is best western elomaz on dbs road, a bargain considering staying in a hotel if that standard in Lagos. I use to pay 55k last year for one of the entry level rooms, omo the pool side is where all the correct chicks from all over the SE and beyond hangout (if you know what I mean). If no room at elomaz then spring hill hotel opposite elomaz is the next place of choice.
The good thing about those two hotels is their complimentary breakfast buffet, that saves you cost of feeding in the mornings.
For regular meals I go out to get authentic local chops at mamas kitchen on dls road, a drop by chartered tricycle is 1k unlike when I was a novice and getting bolt ride for 5k lol.
Meals at mamas kitchen cost me like 4k with water, not bad compared to hotel food.
All in all, Asaba is not too bad expenses wise, to stay in a hotel like best western in Lagos, you likely will cough out well over 150k.
Thanks for this detailed post.
