@LordAdam16

How many Chinese people have you interacted with on a personal basis ?

Let's start with that? If you have really interacted with them You will know that the ONLY reason why the CCP is still in place is the "economic deliverables"
The ones in Manchester are not the majority Chinese who have witnessed the upliftment of an entire race and a billion people from servitude. The ones who don't mind their companies strangled all in the name of containing their progress. The ones who have watched the bitter rhetoric of US politicians towards ethnic Han Chinese, regardless of nationality (see TikTok CEO episode). I follow r/Singapore and some are now "against the West" because they perceive an anti-Chinese rhetoric, even though Singaporean Chinese are very westernised, way more than any group of ethnic Han Chinese. The TikTok episode revealed everything. If this could happen to a fellow Singaporean simply because he is Chinese, then the CCP isn't bad at all, and the West is against Motherland China's progress.

Not all that thing that you typed

If China experiences a lost decade, let's see how popular CCP will be
Japan experienced that because Japanese companies were roaring as Chinese companies are doing, and they signed what is known as the Plaza Accord, an accord the CCP wouldn't sign. If that could occur to the Japanese, a literal baby of the US and accommodating its military bases, how much China that suffered the COH? During the '80s, Donald Trump complained about Japanese cars outdoing their American counterparts and for tariffs on them. Already, the negotiating talks have broken down. Huawei was a.ttacked and the daughter of the founder arrested, yet Huawei has soared ever since. It is a fight to the end. Mainland Chinese are not Nigerians who campaigned and voted for Buhari in 2015 simply because he said he would phight kwarruption.

BTW I will be posted to China next year to do an exchange with a partner uni there
I'll go have a look for myself and get first hand accounts
Because my scope so far are Chinese students and faculty members in my uni
Good gracious Lord! Thank God!

It is always better to be in the know so you gauge every day people's responses, not like those in r/Nigeria who argued that no Nigerian warms their soups because every Nigerian has a refrigerator and 24/7 electricity. Thank God you won't be like so-called China experts who have never studied in China nor speak Chinese. So far, all the so-called China experts I have read their profiles, NONE has it stated that s/he speak Chinese. How does one become an expert on a country that s/he does not speak the native language? huh

You are giving Trump too much credit
That guy does nor think before acting

As per your assertion about the CCP neutralising anti ccp elements in china, that one is far fetched

The more people that disappear, the more discontent you will be creating

The CCP already is losing face among Chinese people, that's why the censorship is tight there...
They only tolerate them because of the pact to create economic growth and all

But again, let's watch and see how things play out
lol
So the solution is to revolt and allow foreign powers to disrupt their hard-fought progress and society?

Like I knew, you mistake the Chinese in China and all over Asia, not some disgruntled Hong Kongers in the UK, to be Nigerians.

You want a repeat of the effects of Buhari's presidency on Nigeria on the Chinese all in the name of "the CCP is e.vil".

I wager they've looked at the numbers, taken stock of existing programs, and find it arguable that the juice is not worth the squeeze.

The CCP has an iron grip on Chinese internal affairs.
They have their tech billionaires on a leash. No one in Chinese intelligence frets about US-educated STEM grads. Moreover, China has had decades to work around the potential pitfalls of welcoming or having a teeming gaggle of foe-educated Chinese.
You make trouble; you disappear. It's a simple, effective kludge.

My point is: this is not a sudden Trump shock move.
It's been an item on every "To-Do During a Cold War with China" checklist since forever.
The China-skeptic bloc in Washington only care about hurting China.
If existing policies have done nothing to halt China's epic rise, change is necessary.

In the past, the pushback would be loss of Chinese talent.
That does not move the needle anymore because they believe the US and China are in a cold war.
A cold war started by the US.

China has the higher ceiling.
The canons that should have crippled China turned out to be mere speedbumps.
They're scraping the barrel and scrambling for more punitive measures that'll increasingly appear absurd.

Chinese academics and civil servants in sensitive industries cannot leave China without obtaining authorization.
Chinese who want to study and be employed in sensitive sectors in the US may have to voluntarily give up their Chinese citizenship, avoid trips to the Mainland in perpetuity, and meet onerous reporting requirements to get a fair shake.

Discriminatory behavior is a latent human trait.
Always simmering under the surface.
It reliably pops up whenever we face adversity.
It is our favorite go-to card.

-Lord
Fair argument. Already, there is a study that shows mnany ethnic Chinese researchers were/are planning on leaving their jobs and the US for elsewhere due to the anti-China rhetoric. It is a bipartisan affair just that one is not a hypocrite - one of the strong reasons I like the GOP and Donald Trump - they and he say it as it is. I prefer people who are clear and open about their intentions towards me. Tell it to my face.

But the thing is....
Many of these guys are ALREADY anti CCP.
versary. yes
But moving this way does not make any sense at all.

If you want to break the CCP, you have to create as many Chinese people who are anti CCP and your uni is the most potent weapon to that effect If you are worried about the market manipulations by the Chinese, then take the bull by the horns and present a cogent case as to why the Chinese should be ousted from the WTO.

There are many methods to this thing that does not have to be damaging to the American state. They should come learn from Britain in how they are using underhand tactics on the Chinese govt and agenda
I am geninuely curious why do you believe citizens of a country like China can be made anti-CCP when you sanction their companies, restrict admission of their kith into your universities, bar their exports? Why do you believe Chinese citizens in the West are so unpatriotic or vehemently anti-China's progress? Don't they have parents and relatives in China? Or do you believe every Chinese student in the West will remain there till thy kingdom come?

Those places in Lagos aren't better off than Asaba. Asaba is a state capital, compare it to Ikeja and truly, you won't find a nice or an okay hotel room at that price. Let's be honest in our comparisons.

Most importantly, Asaba has been the home of many traders, workers and businesses who fled the Southeast as a result of the heightened insecurity and sit-at-home declaration. This has pushed prices up. Another thing is the removal of subsidy which fueled the inflation rate across the country.

Please don't compare Asaba to Ojo and environs. That's a terri.ble thing to do.

Look at this one? What do you know? Adesina's policies will be far worse (better) than Tinubu's! You think subsidy is the right way to grow a country? A country can only thrive if they have one language (not colonial), similar culture, religious tolerance, and same tribe! All these factors will contribute to the growth of a country! Tinubu's policies may seem bad but they are very good. How can a section of the country be thriving upon the success of the other one? You rely on the taxes paid by one section to develop the other! Haba! Many people on this App dont think?
It is good to see another Nairalander understand this concept. If the members of that group are enterprising, possess a strong work ethic and have high integrity, they would become very wealthy. In return, their country will be very safe not only because they are wealthy, but also because they are homogeneous. Wealthy homogeneous countries are much safer than their heterogeneous peers.

It makes sense. The war, poor economy and Russia's chronic alcoholism have reduced the number of men and their life expectancy rates. On average, Chinese men are wealthier than their Russian counterparts, plus China is a safe and secure country as well as a Russian ally. It is not only Russian men, but also South Korean, Singaporean and Japanese men, whose livelihoods cannot match their women's hypergamy. They go to Vietnam, Cambodia and the Philippines to seek brides.

Our men who complain about our women's hypergamy should look at other countries' women, and even within Nigeria, some ethnic groups are less avaricious than others. Target those groups.

To spend it on herself and to have it in case something goes wrong in the relationship. And it will go wrong, thanks to social media, her environment, and precisely that money. These are the "achievements" of feminism.
A woman's money is not, nor will it ever be, intended for the family, and certainly not for the man.
Should they be forced to spend it for those purposes, they will very quickly become bitter

This thing no easy o. I have been researching and sending lots of applications. The two I sent this morning, both replied me : The first one said he can't accept me because his student quota is already full. The 2nd one said he won't be able to accept me because he doesn't have his own laboratory or team. I had high hopes because their research interest and area aligned well with my current professional experience, and they have flexible payment pattern
Well, such is life. Nothing good comes easy. You have to apply to as many laboratories as you can. Here's what I did:

I structured my research goals and drew up a list of universities (I had 11 universities with professors in different faculties but sister research interests/departments) to beam search on
- In each university, I drew up a list of potential professors to email, although in different faculties. I didn't send to two labs in the same department. That's frowned upon.
- Before you send, go through the professors' research interests to know if they align with yours. I put up a link to an application template. Follow the same with tweaks here and there.
- Apply to as many as possible. It's a game of numbers.

I had two final interviews/examinations and passed both. Got both offers and chose the one I wanted.

So many men will tell you they don't want to be like one guy they know who in his old age you see buying ewa agoyin from hawkers passing his gate.
I'm genuinely curious, why are our men not taking up mentally challenging games to keep themselves occupied? Why are they not traveling to new places to enjoy life? It mustn't be outside Africa. South Africa, Rwanda, Ghana and even Benin Republic are available. Why don't they engage themselves in rigorous exercising and mentorship to younger ones? Be consultants to businesses?

I understand companionship, but is it that our elderly men cannot live a life without permanently having women in their houses?

Declaration of China as currency manipulator and withdrawing MFN status from China will be the end of China

Even the Chinese know it.

The West is yet to do that because of two reasons

1. The corporations lobbying against it because Iof the massive profits they are making off the back of China, and

2. The Role China has played in neutering inflation in the West, esp the United States 🇺🇸
Declaring China as a currency manipulator does not change anything as it is not new. The removal of the MFN status has technically occurred with the tariffs wars. So, nothing new.

China does not have the internal demand or economic sophistication to survive the ramifications of not being afforded MFN status
Sinophiles can hype all they want, but that is the truth. Even Xi is not as popular as he used to be, and there are many dissatisfied Chinese people as we speak, turning up the heat with the view of ousting him is also on the table. They just don't have his time yet.
The dream of every Westernphilic. Well, the Chinese have learnt lessons from the fall of USSR and don't want a repeat of the Century of Humiliation. This is something every Chinese I have spoken to here insists on. While they are not okay discussing CCP's policies or politics, they don't want a repeat of the CoH.

Cuba and North Korea are two examples of what happens when that MFN status is taken from you
These ones are not major trading nations nor are they manufacturing powerhouses nor do they have their kith scattered across the world owning factories and businesses. I have seen on IG how Chinese manufacturers circumvent the tariffs by setting up bases in Lagos and exporting to the US. The same occurs in Liberia and Benin Republic. What then are you going to do, order all countries to cut off Chinese investments? What do they get in return? Is the West investing and sharing technologies as the Chinese are? Should other countries not aspire to be economically stable simply because they have to do whatever the West tells them to? So what about ethnic Chinese in Malaysia and Vietnam? How do you fight off such people collaborating with their cousins in Mainland China to circumvent any trade tariffs?

That is the difference between Cuba/North Korea and China.

Small shake body and the Americans have already ousted the Chinese from DRC
If not that america is now led by a dummy, they would have built on that momentum and ousted the Chinese from Zambia and South Africa as well....
I have read the reports of the deal, and while it is direct from Kinshasa, the actual areas are dominated by the Chinese. The locals attested to it. The West cannot invest in the same magnitude as China, nor do they have technologies. One of the miners developed a technique which reduced costs greatly such that its copper output made the price to plummet, which affected competitors in Chile and Australia. The West does not have that technology neither can they play the long and dirty game in the DRC as the Chinese.

Nevertheless, we will see the end of such deals, whether they benefit actual Congolese or suit geopolitical containment of China. For sure, the West does not mind if actual everyday residents suffer economic malaise as long as China is contained. The same in South America, where port infrastructure is so outdated. China gets it to modernise them, but the US complains. Do you imply that ordinary South Americans don't deserve modern port infrastructures to boost their economies simply because the moderniser is China?

The same rhetoric was labelled by the West and including Donald Trump, towards the Japanese until the Plaza Accords happened which resulted in the Lost Decades. The difference is: China has a huge internal market, huge diaspora, is the world's factory as attested by many Western executives, the world's largest makers of industrial robots, hihgher number of engineering graduates, strong work ethic and discipline etc.

Here is an article from the FT: The Lessons From China's Manufacturing Dominance: https: //archive. md/oHBg2

Maybe the West and its fans should learn a thing or two rather than the constant bickering.

Two interesting comments from the article:

You miss the broader point here, i.e. it’s not about who’s the best, it’s not about competition. It’s about human progress, which works best in cooperation. Being the best, comparing itself to others,… is a unique obsession of the west. It’s become so absurd that western commentators often use double standards because in a like for like comparison they’re frequently not the best. The west set up colonies to spread its religion 100 years ago, never wondering if other people were actually interested in its religion. Today the west is waging war all over the planet under the excuse that it is defending its system of government (democracy) as if that is some sort of holy battle. Underpinning this belief that it’s up to us how the rest of the world must think, govern itself and what they must believe in, is a strange sort of narcissism that makes us assume it’s axiomatic that we always know best. China was never like that. China throughout its history always sought harmonious relations with the rest of the world, mainly through trade and exchange. It never had the desire to conquer and impose its systems and beliefs onto others. The result is that China never colonised half the planet as the western powers did. Not do they have 900 military basis all around the world as western powers do today.

This is a lesson a lot of women fail to realise. They neglect and ignore their husbands in the guise of looking after the kids and by the time the so called kids grow up and leave home, they and their husbands are no longer friends but are now strangers who a lot of times can no longer stand one another's company or even look each other in the eye due to built up neglect and resentment.

As women are focusing their energies on raising their kids, they should also realise that the kids will one day grow up and move out to get married and if they and their sons wife do not get on, then the only person whose face they WILL see EVERYDAY is their husband and if they can no longer stand looking into each others eyes, then their old age may be miserable for both of them or the man may start avoiding staying at home if the wife is at home.
Fair enough, but I think this goes both ways, esp in cases where the husbands frolick with side chicks, leaving the wives with the children. The men grow old, and if they don't have the money of their youth, they lose the ability to get newer side chicks and have to live with the woman they neglected while the children were young.

Our people should focus more on companionship, fewer children and marrying people who genuinely like them. As it is, with the recent wave of japa, many parents would not see their children constantly for at least five years. So, they have to get used to their spouses.

But what can the average modern woman offer a man after she has slept with more than 10 men, aborted alot, over used body if she is not going to be supporting the man financially? What kind of shitty deal is that for a man?
I will rather become a woman in that case so as to eat my cake and have it. Sleep around, live a reckless life and still have a man marry my uselesssss body and finance it till I die
To be fair to goran3310, he is kinda right about women not respecting men who can provide because these days, they (women) earn equally if not more than some men. Then we have sex to.ys, so the dire need for a man in 2025 is not as it was in say 2000. These days and going forward, a strong-willed woman can choose not to get married and have a child of her own. Lola Oj and Ini Edo are good examples. Such women will even look down on an oil worker.

However, the issue I have with goran3310's stance is that what then becomes the use of a woman's money to a man's life if the man does not eat out of it? What does the man benefit in a scenario where he provides everything, meanwhile the woman earns very well either from her job or business? What exactly would the woman use this money for if the man is to be the all-in-all provider? What does the man get out of such a relationship?

All women, rich or poor believe their man should be spending on them or taking care of their needs for having access to their body, only very few ladies are exception but majority are like that.
Though some are reasonable with their billing while some are reckless and unreasonable with their billing and that's part of the reasons men do them chop and run.
Ladies should be reasonable with their financial demands from young men biko lolz.
And for guys that don't want ladies to bill them, just go for older ladies; they won't bill you, but so long as a girl is younger than you, whether she is rich or poor, she will bill you directly or indirectly because they will feel worthless if you don't spend on them while having access to their body lol
Genuine question:

In the scenario, a financially stable man dates a financially stable lady who says no to sex before marriage, aka celibacy or is a virgin, what is the benefit the man gets in such an arrangement? If a woman's body is the basis for billing her man, what becomes the basis if she does not "give out" her body?

I have always known that sex is not free. Every man pays for it. However, in the case where there is no sex, what does the man get out of it?

Thank you.

When CCP keeps planting spies left and right to steal IP. You cannot blame the West for being apprehensive. Many Chinese people just wan live their lives and do well.
The whole CCP thing of spy planting and all has stained all of them
Ditto for Iran
First, everyone "stole" IP. The Americans stole it from the Europeans who in turn stole them from the Brits. At some point, Europeans stole IP from today's Arabs. Koreans stole from the Japanese. BTW, some fields have been totally re-engineered by the Chinese - wind power, solar manufacturing, electric batteries/electric vehicles etc. Just because the Chinese isn't bending to the whims of the West or is so adept at producing superior goods cheaply does not mean China is bad at IP. Additionally, a significant proportion of IP invented/innovated in Western labs are performed by ethnic Chinese, so the belief that the source of these people, Mainland China, cannot have a similar quality cohort smacks of racism. No difference between the Chinese from Taiwan and the one from Mainland China. It is a cultural feature.

Two, the West especially the Brits and later on the Americans caused the problem in Iran by toppling a recognised government. So, why expect Iranians to love the West? How did the toppling go for Libya?

China won't share its own IP if they were in the West shoes
China does if asked, politely. On the other hand, partly true since the West has showed animosity towards China's peaceful rise. But sharing with Brazil? Indonesia? It does it.

So why should the West do same ?
Shey na the West wan access the Chinese market? If not for China, many Western companies during the 2000s and 2010s would not generated immense profits and inflation rates would have been remarkably high. So the claim that China did this or that or the West got so damaged is entirely false. It was a symbiotic relationship.

It's very easy to say that the brits don't want China progress
But if the west really want to damage China
All it takes is three coordinated trade policies
And China is done for

So that line is a tired line, and it's cope
What are these three coordinated trade policies that we have not seen recently? China is the world's factory. There exists a world outside the declining population of the West. China has a huge market to entice other countries for imports. I have been hearing this "China's Collapse" for years. Gordon Chang built a career on this. How far? When is it going to come? Remove the US, Germany, France and to an extent the Netherlands, many Western countries are just there. Can they build factories in record time like the Chinese? Can they work for longer hours than the Vietnamese? The minerals they have, can they mine them to compete with Chinese owned mines? Do they even have the cheaper and faster mining techniques as done by the "ever IP thieving" Chinese companies?
