You see, there are few people who use credit cards in Nigeria because the issuers know they are credit-worthy.

Try to make friends with someone who works with those online companies that lend Nigerians money, the person will tell you how useless Nigerians are. The default rate is extremely high and some shameless Nigerians will even threaten or insult you for asking them to repay the money they borrowed.

Besides, those countries that use credit cards have what they call credit score and track your spendings and earnings. If you default, the government will clear it, but you are finished because you will hardly get something on credit again unless you consult experts to help you build it again.

Money in the bank does not adjust for inflation. Let's take N100k for example. N100k in 2015 does not have the same purchasing power as N100k in 2021. Nigerian bank may pay 2% interest on it but will find ways to run the fund down through charges like sms notifications, stamp duty, NIP + VAT, etc. In other words, the bank will milk the whole fund through spurious charges.

That's my major issue currently. I have money laying fallow in my account and I don't feel comfortable with that. I've searched for investment opportunities and I've tried some but they all fail due to representation, cos I'm not available to oversee them. Nonetheless, I still believe investment is far better than saving.
