talktimi: I still maintain that if there are no proper alternative means of transportation like inner city railway lines (subways & monorails), effective marine transportation, reliable and effective standardized bus services. Then the Lagos state govt has no business banning Okada in an ill prepared mega city. Don't deceive yourselves, Lagos is not ready for life without okada.

You make it sound like 'Lagos is an untouchable city'. Have you been to PH or Calabar? Or are Lagosians different from other people that their case should be different from other states?

Everyone is going to get used to it at some point. Same thing happened in other cities (Port Harcourt, Calabar, Enugu, Abuja etc) I don't see any big deal about whether it was planned or not planned or why same should not be done in lagos. So quit blabbing about how life is hard without the okada.

What I will sincerely advice you guys to do, which I think is a better idea would be for all of you being posted to calabar is to assemble yourselves at a park and pick a bus, contribute money and head to obubra at once, instead of spending money individually. For those coming from PH, Enugu and other parts of the south east and south south regions, enter a direct bus to calabar (N3500 - N4500) and drop off at Etim Edem park, there you will get a direct bus/taxi to obubra, that way they'll drop you off at the camp gate at apiapun.

Whenever there is a security situation in a particular area, the security has to be beefed up round dat area or zone and people around that area should be vigilant always and report any strange activity (ies) around their neighbourhood to the appropriate authority. I seriously don't understand why schools and student populated areas where not being heavily guarded by security or even the students protecting themselves knowing that their zones are prone to attacks. Security is eveybody's concern not just the authorities, if you don't alert the authorities then don't expect them to do anything. We as Nigerians must carry out our civic duties as citizens of this country and not leave everything into the hands of the authorities. When you are sick you go looking for medications to treat yourself, right? The only way we can terrorism is starting from ourselves. The North isn't a safe place for now, so don't go there, withdraw your kids from this areas until normalcy is returned. And you are residing or doing business in these areas, be vigilant always.

So I spend $1 billion to import rice and another $2 billion to import milk. I produce rice, but don't eat it. I have 60 million cattle but no milk. I have the capacity to feed the whole of Africa but I import most food instead.

I drive the latest cars in the world but have no roads, neither can I boast of manufacturing a bicycle's tyre. I lose family and friends everyday on my roads for which funds have been allocated to build and rehabilitate but the fund has been looted. I have genuine leather but choose to eat it.. So I spend a billion dollars to import fake leather. I have four (4) refineries, but prefer to import fuel, so I waste more billions to import petrol and diesel. I have a million children waiting to enter universities, but my ivory dungeons can only take a tenth (10 %). My people pray to God every morning and every night, but commit every crime known to man because re-branded identities will never alter the tunes of inbred rhythms. Just as the drums of heritage heralds the frenzied jingles, remember - the Nigerian soul can only be Nigerian - fighting free from the cold embrace of a government that has no spring, no sense, no shame. So we watch the possessed, frenzied dance, drenched in silent tears as freedom is locked up in democracy's empty cellars. I need guidance, please re-build me.

But then, why can I not simply be me, without being re-branded?

Does my location limit the lengths of my liberty?

Some call for 'Separation for Co-operation' , others call for true Federalism - while others are yet asking for the return to Parliamentary system.
