Prophesy: In a contemporary world of unimaginable technological advancement in all facets of human endeavor divinity, expectedly, will be treated with levity. Even when prophesy has been a constant notion in all documented human histories – people are likely to boggle in believing in existence of divinity.

Atiku 2019 Presidency Prophesy: If this news source is reliable there is nothing strange in what the Prophet has decided to make public. It’s good information for all concerned to double up their game, work harder and draw the tide of fortunes in their direction (to the best of their ability).

Analytically speaking Atiku’s presidency “prediction” is plausible under one strong factor – President Buhari availability for 2019 presidential contest. All present inclinations show Atiku, Saraki, Dino, Wamako, Tambuwal, Goje,Dogora and a host of other vaunted APC stalwarts have actually left APC in spirit. While Atiku is more than likely to flag PDP presidential flag 2019 there is no way he could, possibly win the election against APC’s Buhari.

Kogi and Rivers is more of the people (acting as gods) to decide their leaders. Whoever the prevailing public opinion favors will carry the day.

I think it's high time you guys started killing all these fake prophets. If they are so sure it's God that told them, that's ok, these prophets should sign a document that says if the prediction does not come true, their head should be cut off their necks. That would be the last time any of these blind bats dragging God into their falsehood. Imagine, there are 196 countries in the world and all that matters to God all the time is who's becoming the president in Nigeria and state governors. If all the fake pastors that told Jonathan God has destined him to win the election signed the document, that's a lot of dead Alibaba and the 40 thieves you wouldn't have to worry about again.
You know many people think like you until they get forcefully inculcated with lessons in divinity. The day you learn the great lesson you will realize proponents of dreams, fairies, prophesies and other ethereal concepts have seen before telling.

Is the beneficiary of this ruling a loyal APC Senator? If he is like Saraki or Dino there nothing to celebrate. We are still waiting for Saraki, Dino and other renegades to be payed back in their own coin.

If I were APC leaders there will be APC loyal replacements for Saraki, Dino and others already ahead of 2019.

eh nawa o. Make a whole senator no get aids again? You and ur buhari mentality sha. Take care if our leaders so they can take care of us.
While one can overlook the fact that more than half of these Senators have cases of stealing, forgery, gun-running, and drug-peddling against them your call for them to be cared for is ridiculous.

Take the Senate President Saraki for example with alleged questionable belongings running into Billions of naira - How do you want a "mere" salary earner (N18k minimum wage) to care for him? By buying him coke or what?

True leadership is earned through conscientiousness and selflessness. It is absurd having 5 aides/Senator in the same country where : millions are IDPs, millions of youth are jobless, and where the President has pronounced the nation broke.

5 aids on public fund appears fiscally unsound considering our current circumstances, but if they are to perform to expected standard I think 2 permanent staff and a host of volunteers will be a good idea (we a army of young, bright, energetic school leavers who just need a break),
I agree with your post unil "......3rd world country" that's a derogatory term. Poor? Yes, majority of the the population is economically poor, 3rd world? I don't think so.
If we are not 3rd world then we could be worse - The US,UK, Russia, Canada, France, Italy, Spain, Japan etc are generally considered 1st world - While Malaysia, India, South-Africa, Peru, Mexico, etc are usually considered 2nd world with some shades of nuance. Are you going to put us among these nations? So if we do not fall among these groups where-else shall we be accommodated?

There is nothing shameful about starting from bottom but for too long we embraced retrogression as norm.

Sounds like a good decision but it is doubtful if this will forestall fuel scarcity. President Buhari and Ministry of Petroleum resources should admit so much has changed since 1984 in the petroleum sector of the economy.

The marketers have grown powerful, almost indispensable, in the petroleum product supply chain of the economy. They are not only stupendously rich but control major stake in all political maze across the nation.

These people are used to profiteering and using force in enjoining them to be reasonable will not achieve anything. They cannot be cowered, at least for now.

We the public understand the good intention of the FG but government should realize they are limited on this particular issue. The best option is for the FG to allow them to field for now while lasting measures are designed asap.

@Ghandi12,
It is a major income drainer & it cuts across most of the strata of public service, ministers have a minimum of 10 apart from the core civil servants working in ministers' offices..
They come in (days minister is around) play zuma, drink tea & just take up space!!! smiley
Let's just hope this is a vestige of the old order. It is offensive to hard-working tax-payers to know public officers live like Kings while majority of citizens can barely make ends meet.

The private people would attest to the fact that most successful Nigeria CEOs/Managers returning Billions/month hardly have more than 3 aides hanging around them. And these aids always have specific productive functions. On the contrary most top public officers cannot boast of making 1 million naira income or equivalent for the state in one month so why should they have expenses running into millions?

If the present government continued the wasteful practice of "giving jobs to boys" then we have not succeeded in any enthroning change.
PoliticsRe: REMITA: Accountant-general, CBN Meet Systemspecs Today by Ghandi12: 8:20am On Nov 17, 2015
As the TSA stakeholders meet today they should, please, address other business-unfriendly issues TSA implementation has thrown up:

& People doing legitimate business (that can only be done in dollars) are being unreasonably restricted from transacting business. The government have the list of all public officers that have access to public tills and should not be seen to hamper legitimate businesses of private citizens.

& Some public institutions as Universities, Polytechnics, Hospitals etc claim they have been begging for their own TSA account for months hence they cannot complete many routine services. Why should it take eternity to allocate accounts to public institutions with essential services? Must people die before we act every time? If students and patients cant pays fees for two months and somebody is not seeing that as deserving exigent attention then someone needs to be immediately eased out and replaced with competent and willing hands.

& Students and parents have been having issues paying fees to schools abroad. Some things are just too simple to be complicated - school fees can only be addressed to receiving schools so why creating impediments in the way of people' private endeavor when we all know the potential public thieves and their families.

& CBN or/and relevant bodies should urgently open a complaint desk to immediately address all complaints coming from the implementation of TSA.

The Chief of Staff to the Senate President, Senator Isa Galaudu, had in a statement issued on Thursday, said the training was in line with the promise of the senate president to bring about, a more representative legislature through the use of technology and e-parliamentary tools.
..

If 109 Senators have 500 aides; it implies an average of 5 aides/Senator.

What exactly is a lawmaker (of a poor 3rd-world nation) doing with 5 aides on tax-payers money? Public service should not be an opportunity to indulge in satiation but a demonstration of will to sacrifice for a more prosperous nation.
PoliticsRe: Information Minister Dismisses Alleged Fraud In TSA Funds by Ghandi12: 10:17pm On Nov 16, 2015
It is commendable that we now appear to have a responsive Federal Government however some few observations from this side:

% It will not be a bad idea for the entire agreement on the TSA operation to be in public domain - We might have questions ; for instance some may be able to prove the 1% entitled to the platform provider is exorbitant; some other nations operate similar platform and may not be parting that much to their service hands.

% Again the CBN have alleged they have their own internal TSA-executable platform, so why paying so much to a vendor?

% We need to know other beneficiaries (like collecting banks) of the 1% to correctly put figures in right perspectives.

% Again government is a continuum, if an agreement had been duly and legitimately signed asking service providers to return their due is not a good signal for those who want to invest or do business with the government.

% On a trifle note I think we should play it easy with the word "impunity", it appears we have been subconsciously giving it a new meaning.

BMB used to enjoy a sublime respect from many but all his stands since becoming a Nigeria Senator has depicted him a pettish and unreliable politician.

He has spoken vociferously (pre-nass-inauguration) on how he was going to be the voice for commoners in the Senate but he has not made a single meaningful contribution on the floor since the Senate was inaugurated 5 months ago.

Social palliative for underprivileged in our society is a serious issue that deserves serious attention from our leaders - but a vague, impulsive and illogical recommendation from a 'commoner hope' like this has again confirmed "they do not really care about us".

# How would an overpaid politician justify a call for further dip in the take-home of an average tax-payer to pay underprivileged?

# Has BMB considered how many N5000 is derivable from N150/ N120 Billion (the current first-charge budget of the 469-membered-NASS)?

So if One BMB (as a public servant) is taking home an equivalent of 5,800 needy needs; on what moral ground is he calling on much-less-paid and hard-working tax-payers to part more from their take-home that can hardly, even, take them home.

BMB is either over-rated, deliberately insensitive (like others) or/and lazy.

Nigerian Army is one of the best when it comes to ruggedness and don't judge them by the government's lack of political will to fight BH...
A nation army is meant to protect the nation's territorial integrity and resist all threats to the sovereignty of the people. Ruggedness means nothing to the constitutional responsibilities expected of the Nigeria army.
Army Chiefs are supposed to study new world trends and advise the government accordingly but when the pictures that come from army all-the-time show they are still thinking like 1960 it is easier to know why they have not been acceptably successful in defeating BH.

Bluetooth2:
...If you think war are won with fighter jets and armored tanks
, then countries won't bother themselves having large conscript of men to fight wars !
I did not even mention arms nor ammunition in my post - I am emphasizing the fact that the developed world is moving towards super-technology to defend their territorial interest.
There are different forms of wars; the form determines the reasonable strategies a nation should apply. What we have in BH is novel and convoluted. Ruggedness of our army will not bring BH to their knees.

Bluetooth2:
...If you think war are won with fighter jets and armored tanks, then countries won't bother themselves having large conscript of men to fight wars !
2015 the following nations have had to demonstrate their military strength against their perceived foes/opponents:
^ North-Korea has displayed how strong its army is in size, arms and ammunition
^ China has sailed into disputed areas with newly-built and top-notch-technology-driven war ships and birds
^ The US has sailed close to China-made artificial island displaying the depth and reach of their war ships and accoutrements
^ Russia has deliberately "succeeded" where US has failed with ISIS for years using their newly-developed and technology-driven assault launcher

The big question is which of these nations command more respect with their strategies? And which of them are becoming more redoubtable?
Those are the nations we should be copying. Putting men on ground without thorough knowledge of your environment and foes is simply immolation of innocent souls. Wise nations are equipping their soldiers with knowledge, technology and martial - this way soldier lives will not be recklessly endangered.
PoliticsRe: What Do U Call This Training by Ghandi12: 7:40pm On Oct 31, 2015
This is primitive for 2015 Nigeria. The body can be kept fit and strong with modern equipments and methods without causing unnecessary injuries to the body.

Its counter-productive at best - the enemies' method involve: food/water poisoning, plundering and suicide bombing. So how is bruised body aid in stopping food/water poisoning, plundering and suicide bombing.

The Nigerian military have been following shows of military mights between the world super-powers in the last few months. Nations are displaying how many computer-powered cameras and weapons they can deploy to intimidate others. They are even reluctant to put any human on the ground but the Nigerian army have consistently refused to learn from modern trend.

Sometimes one wonders if people learn anything at all or if they are just being deliberately nonchalant.

PoliticsRe: Buhari: Not All Nominees Will Be Ministers by Ghandi12: 9:19am On Oct 31, 2015
This decision is being premised, only, on paucity of fund, particularly, to finance ministers' emoluments. However, there are a number of more acceptable means of achieving all desired aims without having to break banks.

^ Many of the Ministerial nominees are already financially/materially successful and are driven by service in accepting the nomination. Many of them are philanthropists and would not have any problem serving their fatherland with minimal or no financial gratification. The President will be surprised that many of them will volunteer to work-for-free if given convincing reasons.

^ In addition this crop of nominees does not appear to need all the lavish accoutrements, currently, attached to the Office of a Federal Minister: The nominees have cars already and will not need 5-15 official cars: Most of them have private residence in Abuja already and may choose to fore-go housing proviso in their contract: Most of them are responsible with happy families so their feeding may not be a public concern.

Not using all the nominees or a graduated use may result in another round of ethnic/tribal strives. The Federal Government should focus more of driving the economy and eschew avoidable distractions.

We should avail ourselves the services of all these successful Nigerians. Neither the President nor the Vice can be everywhere at all time; we need selfless Lieutenants to uphold and implement Federal government policies.

Saraki as a serial betrayer will surely betray APC again in the nearest future. If PDP decides to fight saraki out, they might end up installing a loyal APC man who will give dem no chance to bargain in the business.
So, head or tail...Saraki is PDP's best bet. They should put the Amaechi saga behind dem. There is much opposing to do...its still daybreak!

It seems people don't understand the basis of the support of senator/politicians for Saraki; all of them, majority of them, across board hopes the the case against him at the CCT will be scuttled.
If Saraki goes does, they know it spells clear and present danger for all of them. A conviction of Saraki for corruption will lead to a such a powerful ripples in the Nigerian polity, such that, there will be no safe haven for the corrupt and those who have embezzled state's resources again. if Saraki goes free, people like Akpabio will be relieved and know that there is nothing to worry about; dey still dey kampe - the status quo remains the same.

...This policy if well implented would have been the catalyst to the rapid industrialization of nigeria. Imagine a nation like nigeria imports toothpicks, tomatoes and palm oil. Its even more aggravating that Shoprite is allowed to import bananas from South Africa.
However, some months into this policy. I am not satisfied with the implementation of the policy. The implementation seems very authoritarian and does not make room for some groups of people. They include:

The policy simply stiffles the flow of FX in the banking system without providing alternatives for those not being targeted by the policy.
I fall under category number two. Since banks are no longer allowed to accept dollar deposits, banks no longer have FX currencies to give customers. The country is not getting much money now since oil prices are low. Therefore, CBN has limited FX to give banks. I export and i receive my proceeds by wire transfers to my domicillary account in our nigerian banks. For business to run smoothly, we need to pull the money out to put back into the business.
However, for some weeks now, business has halted due to the lack of dollar in the bank. They have also restricted transfers to other accounts within the bank. So basically i cannot trade the dollar for naira with another person.
The policy was good. It would have encouraged local manufacturing and boosted employment. However, it was not properly thought through and is currently implemented very poorly. Importers cannot import, while exporters cannot get their proceeds. It is stifling the economy and making nigeria less favourable for foreign investment.
It almost appears the govt is waging a war against all local businesses. Everybody is complaining. There is nobody govt's economic policies is favouring right now.  If govt cannot provide banks with FX, then they should allow banks accept dollar deposits.
I hope the govt does something about this soon.
Lalasticlala seun
Totally agree with most of your points. The current implementation is doing more harm than good. The outcries are getting louder everyday but the Federal government appears not to have evolved an effective solution to teething effects of this policy.

One would have expected genuine and legitimate businesses to be protected but there are also daily reports of parents and students not being able to pay school fees; international bodies doing business in Nigeria not being able to freely draw their own fund; and many other bizarre restrictions.

The Government is already challenged by the problems handed down by previous administration and not attending to business-threatening-issues will only compound the current economy woes of the nation.

(CNN)What is Africa's most prosperous country?

According to new research from the Legatum Institute, which last week ranked prosperity in 38 African countries around criteria ranging from economics to education to health, the title belongs to Botswana, the diamond-rich country in southern Africa.

As well as posting a relatively high per capita Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of $15,176, Botswana also fared well in terms of governance, education and personal freedom. As the country spends 8% of its GDP on education, it is among the biggest proportional spenders in the world according to the World Bank. This is the third year in a row that Botswana has topped the index.

In contrast, the Central African Republic was the lowest ranked country on the continent. The country, which has a per capita GDP of $584, has seen increasing violence since the end of 2012, and only 21.5% of the population have access to sanitation according to the prosperity index.

Biggest gainers

Rwanda was the best improver, gaining five ranking places to end up as the eighth most prosperous country in Africa. The country was found to have the sixth highest ranking in regulation and government effectiveness, the eighth highest score in rule of law and the lowest perceptions of corruption in Africa.

"Rwanda deserves credit for actively encouraging women to play a central role in shaping the future of their country. And it seems to be paying dividends," says the report.

These findings bucked trends across the continent, where 41% of women are out of work, as opposed to 23% of men.

"We cannot talk about the prosperity of women in Africa if we don't change the inappropriate policies that hinder their progress," argues Marieme Jamme, a Davos Young Global leader and CEO of SpotOne Global Solutions. "We cannot sugar coat the issues of funding, mentoring, gender equality, recognition and representation and expect women to come winners within the current framework and plans we have in Africa."

Other notable gainers since 2012 included countries from East Africa -- while neither Kenya nor Mozambique featured in the top 10 most prosperous countries in Africa, they both rose by four places in the rankings since 2012.

As over 44% of Kenyans thought it was a good time to find employment, the country ranked ninth in terms of entrepreneurship and opportunity. But following the 2013 siege in Nairobi's Westgate Mall, the country ranked 32 of 38 in terms of safety and security.

Initiatives that support women empowerment and a more active participation in business will be key for future prosperity.

Regional partner Tanzania, by contrast, fell eight places since 2012 going from 11th to 19th in the latest rankings. A drop in five-year average growth and an increase in inflation were coupled with a decline in confidence in financial institutions and falling satisfaction with living standards.

The country fared particularly badly in terms of personal freedom, where it fell from 24th to 28th.

While Tanzania's education score rose by one place in the rankings, the report argues that Tanzania needs to improve the quality of education in schools rather than focusing on enrollment rates. "Tanzanian education is not producing graduates with the skills needed to work in the formal sector," the report says. "The lack of an adequately skilled workforce is a hindrance to investment in sectors such as manufacturing, construction, mining, agriculture, finance, and communications...Tanzania needs education that improves students' chances of finding employment."

The biggest faller was Malawi, which dropped 11 places since 2012 to 20th in the index. The report cites a drop in the five-year GDP growth rate as part of the reason the country fell by 18 places in the Economy sub-index.

In all, average prosperity in Africa has been on the up since 2012. In the past two years all countries have seen increases in at least one area tracked by the report.

But Nathan Gamester, program director of the Prosperity Index ,added a cautious note to the findings: "As African economies grow, a chief concern for many governments is how to ensure that the fruits of growth benefit a majority of the population and contribute to true long term prosperity."

dhoryn:
if you are a Nigerian, u should know that this kind of future would take decades.
We are in this future already (Eko Atlantic, Ibom stadium, LCC, Abuja FCT etc): many private establishments doing businesses in Nigeria have embarked or embarking on a good number high-technological-driven designs that can compete anywhere in the world - the only drag in our advancement as a nation is our corrupt governments.

Aside from Lagos, Akwa-Ibom and a couple of other states our governments always appear scared of great leap into modernization. Government structures are rarely maintained nor inspiring in designs. Conversely, private properties of our Leaders are never in anyway inferior to anyone anywhere in the world.

Saraki's useful tricks finished the day all APC leaders, finally, agreed he is a traitor. Any other tricks since then are redundant and only become as meaningful as APC leaders want.

His continue stay in office lies with the powers that have his secrets and not on his now ineffectual tricks.

He is not wanted in APC, he is being used by PDP and stoned by his very own people - Saraki is a political orphan desperately seeking adoption.

Until the Nigerian Army and other law enforcers start adopting technological and scientific methods to fighting heinous crimes the militants will continue having field days.

The only nations that have successfully controlled damages from extremists are the ones putting money and time in technologies.
PoliticsOPEC Has Stalled The Shale Revolution by Ghandi12(op): 9:23pm On Oct 20, 2015

LONDON, Oct 20 (Reuters) – The resilience of U.S. shale producers has surpassed all expectations as they have wrung extra efficiencies out of their operations and pulled rigs back to the most prolific sections of existing plays.

The shale sector's ability to cut costs and sustain their output in the face of plunging prices has been extraordinary and testament to the entrepreneurial spirit and technical skill of the independent producers.

Shale producers are justifiably proud of their ability to survive the perfect storm that has hit their industry since the middle of 2014.

But it should not disguise the fact that the collapse in oil prices has paused the shale revolution, with the sector's focus shifting from growth to survival.

The revolution cannot be reversed. Techniques once mastered will not be unlearned. And adversity has forced shale drillers to become more efficient.

If and when prices rise, shale output is very likely to start increasing again, and from an even lower cost base.

For the time being, however, lower prices have stunted shale's growth in the United States and slowed its spread around the rest of the world.
North Dakota

In North Dakota, the oil boom has stalled as low prices have brought formerly rapid production growth to a standstill since the end of 2014.

State oil output grew at a compound average rate of just 0.38 percent per month over the last 12 months, according to records published by the Department of Mineral Resources.

By contrast, production increased at a compound rate of 2.37 per month in the 12 months before prices started to crash in June 2014 (http://tmsnrt.rs/1QOlGI8).

Output has been flat at 1.2 million barrels per day (bpd) since the end of 2014, the deepest and most protracted pause since the shale revolution began in the state in 2005 (http://tmsnrt.rs/1QOn25S).

If production had continued rising on its pre-June 2014 trend, output would now be 330,000 bpd higher at 1.52 million bpd.

Some analysts question whether the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) is winning its price war against high-cost producers.
