Nothing extraordinary. OBJ used to dine with Senate Presidents then before their removal. |
cassimere:You don't get it. Left to the FG this is not a celebration but the personality currently sitting as the President of the Senate has history of stealing, lying, manipulation and anything negative. They need to capture the moment should-in-case he comes up with one of his endless cants. |
chukwudi44:... 246. (1) An appeal to the Court of Appeal shall lie as of right from - (a) decisions of the Code of Conduct Tribunal established in the Fifth Schedule to this Constitution; ... (i) any person has been validly elected as a member of the National Assembly or of a House of Assembly of a State under this Constitution, ... (2) The National Assembly may confer jurisdiction upon the Court of Appeal to hear and determine appeals from any decision of any other court of law or tribunal established by the National Assembly. (3) The decisions of the Court of Appeal in respect of appeals arising from election petitions shall be final.... Since inception of the 4th Republic to date no single case of disputed Assembly seat has ever proceeded beyond the Court of Appeal. However several Governorship and almost all Presidential election disputes have been conclusively determined at the Supreme Court. For example ex-Gov. Amaechi and Gov. Fayoshe have had their various cases heard and determined at the Supreme court. Baba Buhari has been in Appeal and Supreme court three times. The final court of arbitration for disputed Assembly seat is as dictated by the 1999 Constitution above : Court of Appeal. chukwudi44:Assumptions have no place in legal and constitutional matters - You have to present documented proof of your for-sure-knowledge. I have been supplying documented excerpts of all amendments made to the original 1999 Constitution dictates to date as regard election disputes and adjudication. Provide your proof of challenge to this evidence. Constitutionally and legally as it stands today the Court of Appeal remains the final court of adjudication in disputes arising from Assembly seat contest. |
The Devil is a loser ...The accused, however, pleaded not guilty. The Magistrate, Mercy Adebola, granted each of the accused bail for N100,000 with two sureties each and adjourned the case till October 12... |

Finally a potential and acceptable Presidential persona has made himself available from the land of rising sun. God bless Nigeria |
The earlier posted are the original dictates of the 1999 Constitutions. http://www.loc.gov/law/help/nigeria-election-law/index.php However, the ONLY amendments made to these original by the NASS are as follows: In the recent amendment process, some changes were introduced to the structural arrangement of election tribunals. The amended Constitution consolidated some of the roles of the National Assembly and the Governorship and State Houses of Assembly election tribunals into one by establishing a tribunal called the National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly Election Tribunal.[45] There will be at least one such Tribunal for the Federation.[46] The number of members of this tribunal was made smaller than that of its predecessors (the National Assembly Election Tribunal and the Governorship and Legislative Houses Election Tribunal); it is made up of only a Chairman and two other members.[47] A quorum can be effectively established with the chairman and one other member.[48] The jurisdiction of the National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly Election Tribunal is more limited than that of the previous National Assembly Election Tribunals. The National Assembly Election Tribunals, before the amendment, had jurisdiction to make determinations on whether: Some of the jurisdictional powers formerly enjoyed by the National Assembly Election Tribunal have been shifted to the Federal High Court. The Federal High Court now has jurisdiction to adjudicate and determine whether a term of office of a member of the National Assembly or a state House of Assembly has ceased and whether or not the seat has become vacant.[52] Procedural changes were also introduced to petitions concerning the offices of governors and deputy governors. Before the 2010 amendments, election petitions concerning these offices were, as indicated above, dealt with by the Governorship and Legislative Houses Election Tribunals, of which there was one in every state.[53] These Tribunals have been replaced by Governorship Election Tribunals, of which there also is one in every State of the Federation; these tribunals enjoy original jurisdiction to make determinations as to whether any person has been validly elected to the Office of the Governor or Deputy Governor.[54] |

They need to take this picture because the filthy receiver is always sleazy - a villain front for thousands principalities that need a tamer. The wall clock is showing a few mins ish to 5 o clock but some people would rather create their own version. |
The filthy trickster always trying to compromise every process. Sarakism is gradually becoming a neo-physilosophical movement for stealing, arrogance, treachery, slandering and manipulation. Can someone identify one good value one can point to children as a legacy from Sarakism. Good people need to clean their tables, stand firm, eschew all temptations and reject evil in all forms. In Baba we still believe. Opportunities are knocking for many upright Nigerians (especially in Judiciary and Law enforcement) to engrave their name in gold by showing corruption can be annihilated in our system. Judges and Tribunal Heads should be courageous and dauntless. We have seen them sentencing maggi stealer, unemployed graduate and poor peasant to prison. They should see the likes of Saraki as common criminals and not waste time in sending them to jail with slightest filch. If Baba failed I am afraid we should start praying for revolution. |
At the height of the confusion in the chamber, the immediate past Senate president, David Mark, stood up and quietly walked out...Monkey dey show skills jumping from tree to tree but the hunter dey watch am but monkey no dey watch until the hunter... |

Everyone is free to air their opinions but in Baba we trust. Saraki trial is a litmus test for fight against organized corruption as being championed by Buhari and Nigeria Judiciary. If this trial is bungled without any logical conclusion then every Nigerian would have been given the license to also "do whatever it takes" to blow. Youth should become more civil-disobedient and stop cooperating or believing any 'propaganda' churned out by Buhari led administration again. |
Gov. Amosun should stop flaunting his brawn political prowess against a weak individual. If the offense is bailable why is Gov. Amosun using brigandry to continue holding the young man captive illegally. Only the courts of law are empowered to sanction arrest or continue captivity of any accused individual. |
We have seen this 4th Republic Senate since 1999. What single benefit has this bunch of criminals brought to common man, nothing. These worthless evils come together, budget and share Billions of naira monthly, put up irrelevant dramas, set-up kangaroo chit-chat to justify the huge waste of national treasure. We are a Nation with increasing number of poor people, over 1.2 million IDPs, 10s of millions of unemployed youth, what exactly are we doing with 109 super-humans that are being maintained with N150 Billion naira? These filthy super-humans take so much and give nothing tangible nor meaningful back to the system. Many laws have been passed since 1999 and these laws are either binned or unenforced. Are we now helpless after putting in so much hope in Buhari to tame these beasts. |
The same way Students rejoice when through with their exams feeling fantastic, but the Markers collect the scripts, carefully process them and come out with results they feel the Students deserve. Saraki has been scored Failure by his constituency the Judiciary and law enforcers are waiting to pass their own judgement of him. |
Human right lawyers in the house should rise-up to this young man's defense. If truly he's granted bail Gov. Amosun has no locus standing under Nigerian law to effect otherwise. How come he is being paraded in hand-cuffs as if he is Saraki that is alleged to have stolen Billions of Naira. The Federal Government better wade into incessant misappropriation of power by State Governors. Saraki and likes are stealing and walking shoulder-high while an accused young-man is being treated as criminal without any pronouncement by the court. Interestingly TVC has not deemed it fit to air this trial live. This is not the change we want. Actions like this are just sowing seeds for future youth revolt against the high and mighty. |

VICTORCIZA: ellovee:I am a patriotic Nigerian I pass a vote of confidence on the CCT, EFCC, ICPC, Police, DSS, High Courts, Appeal Courts and the Supreme Court. |
All these people also have something in common: Sepp Blatter, Mitchel Platini, Jack Warner, Lionel Messi, Neymah We cannot be different. Looters of our commonwealth must be made to face justice. |
stockbull:As long as God continues to guide and protect President Buhari your predictions will remain what they are - predictions. Division is when decisions of the recognized and legitimate Leaders of the party is being challenged by the mainstream partymen. We are all witnesses to process of formation of APC. We know the original founders and facilitators - they are all still united, indivisible and focused to date. They started meeting as far back as 2007, they disagreed. They came together again 2011, disagreed but became more determined subsequently. 2011 thenceforth they started putting away their differences and building an organization they believe in. They built the party around Buhari 2015 and we the masses bought into their message and we willingly gave them our mandate for the next four years. Take a look at all the dissenting voice today: they ran aboard APC ship at the eve of Presidential election - Saraki, Wammako, Tambuwal, Timi Frank, Dino Melaye, Ali Ndume, Sylva, etc. All these APC Senators from the North would not have won their election against PDP without Buhari on the ballot. The APC will come out stronger once it has purged herself of disloyal elements within her nuclear circle. |
In the beginning we voted for change but the gods think we deserve something better and more pleasing. The evil gods visited Saraki and PDP Senators and they presented us with an opportunity for revolution without blood. My appeal to commoners is to brace-up for a longer period of sacrifice. The gods (evil and good) are at work and when the battle is over we the good people shall sing songs of victory. Tribunals and courts of justice are constitutionally rooted institutions. They can only be expunged by amendment to the Constitution. Constitution amendments start from all 36 States Houses of Assembly. |
"Story for the gods". Dog is man best friend. When it behaves man cares for it but when it goes rabid man chains it down or keeps it away in a cage. |
zicoraads:Blah blah blah. Looters, killers, gun-runners chewing who? Everyone on that list has been thoroughly screened by relevant security agencies. Expect the same boring routine: Could you read your cv out? Could you sing the National Anthem? What about the national pledge? In your capacity as blah blah blah your organization has been alleged to blah blah blah - can you defend your roles? Do you understand the constitutional requirement of blah blah blah They will just give us some dramas to pretend they are relevant. Nominees will make mistakes, get irritated but everyone on that list shall resume at their duty post "at the fullness of time". That wont stop the state from going on with purging the system of corruption and corrupt individuals. |
On this note, I want to urge you all my colleagues to ensure that what is uppermost in our minds as we begin the constitutional task of screening of ministerial nominees is the overall interest of our country, informed by the enormity and the urgency of the challenges before us. Once the list is submitted, let us ensure that we treat it with dispatchThis is what we have been telling Chuckwudi. This bunch of corruption-inclined and tainted lawmakers cannot stand in line of a popular Presidency led by Buhari. Clearing Ministers with dispatch is not an acceptable atonement for corruption charges. We the impoverished masses want to see you defend yourself. We want to see you acquitted or convicted. We also want to see your colleagues coming clean or punished of allegations brought against them by the State. |
Anybody close to the National Legislooters should warn them the Buhari they danced around with pre-elections is not the same Buhari most common people are building now. He towers like a rock of Gilberata across the rivers of Niger and Benue but his benign image is steadily permeating the cynical forest of the South. On a daily basis, in-spite of all mud-slinging by oppositions, young people who had, hitherto, resented Buhari are becoming approving of his styles and list. Most commoners that voted against him, especially in the Southern part of Nigeria, are beginning to praise him and his steps so far. If Buhari continues with his demotic policies a time will come when his words may just become laws. If he asked us to go remove the NASS we wont even think twice before destroying the N190 Billion naira per year drainage. |
Somebody should ask the Emir what he feels about Saraki attacking poor peoples common-wealth and bankrupting others fund. In Emirs view God supports Saraki stifling of life out of downtrodden but God is against downtrodden asking him some practical questions. |
The minority will always have their say but the will of the majority will prevail in this regime |
These people do not appear to be from the land of Stoners and Pelters. Its always twisted in Nigeria. |
One day, some day we shall all have our days at the National Assembly ground. The few and their fans on one side - those of us standing for Buharism on the other. Lets see who the majority. Anyway, how can we remove Senate from our constitutional democracy. It is either this Senate change their ways or get matched on by the poor masses one day. |
RIP sweet Dad. Every time I listened to him on tv then I always felt a rush of hope springing in me. May Almighty guide you home. |
Now that we have another vote of confidence on corruption. Its time for the President to activate all corruption, forgery, murder, money laundry, and bad loan default charges against every Senator. The trials or witch-hunts MUST be fierce, merciless, unconditional, revolutionary and thorough. Change we voted for ; change we demand; and change we must get. The President and FG are hereby empowered by the National Assembly of the Poor Masses to match on these despicable and unscrupulous law-breakers with necessary, legal and mandated brutality. The President should understand the ultimate power is from God through the teeming masses that willingly cast their vote to APC with Buharism as the central selling-point. The FG should as a matter of urgency empower judges, tribunal Chairmen and law enforcers with improved security and every accoutrement needed for speedy dispensation of criminal justice. The Senate should be starved of fund and every kobo being expended in the NASS must be closely monitored by the law enforcement officer. Take away money from rogues and see how far their noise can go. All unsolicited foreign voices in support of the filthy Senate should be ignored. A check board of all Senators should be put in the the Power House and a well articulated and time-lined "trip-fall-bury" stratagem designed for every renegade Senator. Its time to start trowing the renegade Senators under trailers at the election tribunal, CCT, and extracting firm understanding from beneficiaries of their losses. Senators arraigned for criminal charges should be made to face the same treatment as a maggi stealer - No fans or fellow criminals should be allowed to accompany them into court premises, they should not be granted bail if the presiding judges feel the need, bank accounts under investigation should be frozen. The Whole World led by the US is purging FIFA of almost a century of corruption. Blatter, Platini, Jack Warner, Messi, Nehma are all candidates for jail because the societies in which they earn their living have chosen to ask questions, frown at dishonesty and punish guilty. We MUST fight corruption with all we have. Lastly, if the filthy NASS becomes too difficulty the real voters of change should be allowed to match on the criminals. |
