I think that as far as coomercial is concerned, one has to give it to VI. VI has been changing so much in the past few years. Much of the VI extension area were supposed to be residential until financial insitutions started moving away from the main Lagos Isaland to VI and that was how the 'explosion' started The people who used to live in VI have now made Lekki and Ajah their new homes. So today's VI has taken over from Broad Street as Nigeria's commercial capital. Apapa has the factories and the ports but it has not been expanding the way VI has been. It is clogged up by articulated vehicles doing the port round that one gets the impression that it is densely populated. VI definitely is the more commercial. Go to VI in the weekend and there are many streets that are unpassable in the week where you wont even see a single person. |
I think that this is all about 2011 elections. The build up began a few weeks ago. The expansion of the road to Okoko Maiko was almost stalled by the Federal Govt a few weeks ago when the FG was reported in the papers to have been planning a contract for teh same road months after it was common knowledge that a train line was being planned on it. Mind you, the train project wil be commissioned in 2011. The Hawks in YarAdua's govt must be on his neck to ruffle Lagos up a bit as 2011 approaches. The whole aim is to make the many developmental projects in Lagos stop. Do not be suprised in the next few weeks that many of the contractors working on Federal roads in Lagos and working for the state Government will be told to move away from the FG property if Lagos refuses to budge. Obviously, the president is being guided by people who have not taken into consideration the wonderful support that the fashola goverment in Lagos is enjoying. whichever way it is viewed, this will burn the President and PDP's fingers. They are not even doing anything at the centre and they are now haunting the only bright spot in today's political leadership. |

Hello people, This car belongs to a friend and she only told me she wants to sell it this weekend. She has not used it that long and I think she is getting another one. All I can say is that it is a good car. Plus the price is very reasonable. The mileage is under 40,000. It is Auto Transmission. I asked that she send the pix to me for anyone who may be looking for a good car on this Forum. Notice that I am not a pro at this but this is the price N760,000. I am not a professional car saleperson. So I can only talk on phone. I may not have the time to send pictures to any one privately. The car is driven to VI everyday where her sister works and it will be in Okota on weekends. It is a case of first come first buy. This is the number you can reach me by: 08052303450 or 07025622243

It is not just ETB. It is done for everyone. They are simply creating and registering domain names very similar to these legit ones. They have for all the bannks. The interswitch one you got will not be the real interswitch website as one or two letters will be be different but most people won't even check. I got one a while back and knew instantly it was one of those things. They do the same for telcoms, creating bogus sites with names of the telcom provider, promising the winners prizes. That was how the Brazilian bank was duped of over 200 million dollars a few years back. There are many CBN websites all over the net created by these fraudsters; same as minsitries and parastatals. So, beware! |
I was wondering what this what this was all about too until I heard Joe Igbokwe say on TV that the ban was actually canvassed for by a ledaing council of traditional leaders from the east, who said the many Ezes were simply creating problems back in the east when they come back home. I have forgotten the details but he made so much sense. He implied that the Eze Ndigbo was anti-igbo and needless! |
Just thot to reiterate what someone wrote that a few of you ignored. The Aswani Market has not been demolished. What was stopped was the many traders who have converted the road into markets twice every week. The market is inside ny Osolo way, with many shops./It is obvious that so many posters here dont even klnow where Aswani is and they have an image of bulldozers pulling down concrete shops. The so called 'Market' is just many traders closing down a long stretch of road by trading on the service lane and attracting buyers to the place. I support the Government's decision. The people who paid for shops are not selling anything because those who created shops by bus stops 'get' to the customers before them. The same is true of all other markets in Mushin and Oshodi. The people who won legal shops in Mushin are very happy about the development. In oshodi for instance,,before the evacuation of the street traders, a journey from the Airport to Surulere that should not be more than 25minutes may last 3hours if you decide to pass through Oshodi! |
@poster, It all depends on your audience. In the Lagos area alone, there are various housing needs and diferent audience. The varuious response you havev received here are areflection of that. Just know your market. The guy who managed to buy a plot of land in Akowonjo may not go for your design but the guy who paid 850million for a plot of land on Banana Island may look forward to working withn you. You will not apeal to everybody! That is a fact. You have a huge market i NIgeria and in the corporate world. Our company has produced print communication for estate company in the past and I have a fair idea what the marketing end is like. You are in the business of construction. Your risks are limited. You are not selling. package yourself and know your audience. It is all about positioning. When next yopu come to Naija, drive around IKoyi, where I think your audience will be. Maybe a few in Lekki but mainly Ikoyi and other location as decied by the client. I know one guy who brought in someone from Italay just to work his marbles. another example: there is a land in Banana island that the seller is asking 1.2billion for. A company has offered 850 million and he is not shifting ground. My point: You will get your own audience. plan your sntrance strategy right and you are in! you could get in touch for more discussions. The beginning may be tough but you just need one breakthrough and you are in. Trust me on that! |
I have been banking with GTBank for about five years now and I have othe accounts with FCMB and regretably, UBA. The only way the amount you claimed could have been withdrawn would be in an online transaction or the use of your cheques and a forged signature.Either way, the money will be traced to a certain account and there will be a face to it if was withdrawn from the counter. Cheque your cheque book, especially the leaves that are far away from the one in the front. someone could have pulled out one or two and since it is a personal account, shouldn't you have insisted in your manadte that third partywithdrawals like that should require your consent? If it was through an online transaction, whoever did it must have your secure code and all else about you. In all my years of using GTbank for both persoanl and corporate baking, it is only with my ATM that I experinced this kind of withdrawals and it was reversed immediately complaint made. I am very curious abotu your claim that your withdrawal took place at their head office. GTBank does not have a bank at the plural House that I know of-except that they just did recently. Their operations are broken all over the state. The IT section for instance is in Ikeja. Are you sure it is Head Office? Your story get as be small o. No offence. |
The conduct of these tanker drivers and their demands is very unreasonable! Why would they imagine that they will be treated differentlt because they carry fuel from depot to station? It is madness! We must create an alternative to them.Imagine one of their leaders saying that since BRT buses have dedicated lanes, they should get some priority too. I can't even seem to figure out what their demands are. How does their going on strike and making everyone miserable solve our road problems? |
@insired M. how much will a 2004 passat go for? |
Everyone, I can tell you this for a fact: the military authorities and their cohorts did not bargain for this kind of response they are getting. That is why there is no response that is strong enough to cover the evidence. A few people will actually infiltrate forums like this and other pressure groups to dilute the message by blaming the lady. The man in question is the Flag Officer Commanding. That is like the highest position in the Navy, second only to the Chief of Naval Staff. They will try to cover it and at worst force him o retire while the ratings will take the rap. Already, they have sent out reports that he was not even in the vehicle when it happened. In the next few days, you will hear so many stories from so many sources. (trust me, they have dedicated people to do this in order not to embarrass them and take away the myth of the gun they have used to harass Nigerian everyday) By the time they are done, you may not even remember the real story anymore. They will discredit the lady in question. It is all a strategy. Admiral Aro' must face a civil court after any military tribunal has done its bit. That is the goal. The NBA has indicated interest. It made today's back page o Thisday. Let us continue to gather momentum. If we need to reach the Supreme Court, so be it! Like the thuird term was resisted, wev must resist these tryrants amongst us! |
people! I was as incensed as all of you when i first heard about the beating. The issue is that we must bring pressure to bear on all this people I am sure that if there were no video evidence of this assault, the navy authorities would have riggled their way out of it. People have begun several advocay group online. which is what these idiots forgot-the world has changed and their heads still stuck in the days of civil war did not take into conmsideration technology that can expose them and create a pressure group. The reporters from Punch newspapers that broke the story have stated that they have been receiving threat calls after the story broke. We must continue to mount pressure over this and push it to the highest authorities in the hope that these men are made to face a civil court and not a military tribunal! Even though I have not done any business with Inspired_M before, I think that in the interest of peace and the fact that he has agreed to post the VINs, these atack should be stopped. I make this appeal based on the fact that two other threads have been created to run this guy done on nairaland. For me and any discerning individual, this shows that there is an organised agenda to run him down.I have helped my neighbour sell his car on this forum and It is a question of the interested buyer as well as the seller. To ask him to state his business location and all other conditions is pushing this too far. So far, no one has come up to state that he duped them anong the many people who bought cars from him. There is something foul about this campaign. Maybe. he has his issues in business like everyone of us. Everyone who followed this thread thought it was up to something but it is a fight between two people choosing to watch their dirty linen in the open! |
What gives you the assurance that once this guy gets a good job, you will even be in the picture? A guy can lean on his woman for while but underneath the help is a burning desire to play the role of a man who wants to provide and help do things at home. I once had a friend who lost his job and was the home was being run by his wife. He become a hustler, willing to do just about anything to take something home at the end of the day until he got another job. That is a man. The man in question is a boy-a grown boy-not a man. You are doing a lot of damage to yourself by staying in the relationship out of emotional guilt. First stop going to their house and begin to get out of this 'our wife' mentality that young women enslave themselves into. Biblically, a man is said to be worst than an infidel when he can not provide for his own household. He does not show any remorse when he collects from you now and he will not stop when he evn gets a job. One of my sisters ended up with someone who showed the same trait as your man. Today, she is the one carrying the burden of the family with help from her siblings. Beware! |
knowing Nairalanders, I know that the response to this post will be predictable: those who will not see anything good in the movement and criticize it as the adventure of thieves who have nothing to do with their money. Others will wonder why we should not plough the same fund into the globacom league. Another category are those who will talk about the poverty in Nigeria and what that money will do for the masses of this country. The truth is that if these people can put their money into what they believe in, it is not our business how they spend their money. When you have your own money, build a massive plantation for the masses to come and eat from. It is your business. These people want to own a Football Club that is up for sale and they are getting the money. It is perfectly okay until it is established that the money is stolen or gotten illegally. Personally, I am glad that people I share nationality with are making bold attempt at doing something that may draw positive attention to our conutry. |
Facebook is a wonderful tool for many people and even if its popularity wanes at some point, the backers got a few things right. someone mentioned the layout and that is the key. It is like what makes the IPOD special amond MP3 players. FB is very useful and the focus was on the people who use it rather than the owners. In the modern world, great brands have learnt to integrate their values with that of their important audience. HI5, Myspace and yahoo 360 have not achieved what FB has achieved in this respect. MYspace is too busy(appeals mainly to very young and hip group) yahoo 360 (in people's mind, you are the top email site, that one no do? and it draws loads of adult with a limited friend list) HI5 ( same layout problem and attracts young people. you dont say hi5 to an adult) Facebook is simple. The Design is like the IPOD and it says 'I am techie but very simpe too' the name is also self explanatory. The people who came up with the other sites need to learn a thing or two about colours and simplicity. FB may not be easier to navigate than other sites but it does not look it. Same success story for google- simple. I have used FB to hook up with folks I had not seen or heard from for over a decade and you are saying facebook is not good. |
Just thought to add that people buy laptops based on the features/configuration and not necessarily the pictures you have posted. The next thing is price-if it is lower than it is in the open market. Sadly, you have not offered these. |
The person who will buy the car will be the one making the call to the number listed! I will tell him of your offer but if you are really serious, give him a call. I doubt if he will go that low though but there is no harm in trying. The last time he sold a maxima, it was the guy who called and fixed a time to view the car who bought it.So, give the guy a call. The car is in Surulere. |

Their match against Germany was the most painful cos they actually played very well and I felt they should have at least gottten a point from thee encounter. The Falcons' performance is the result of the absence of any discernible sports plan. Two ladies that should have made the team are currently receiving treatment in germany after more than one year of being abandoned and their case was turned into a crusade of some sort by sports people. These girls dont get a fraction of the kind of support and attention that the people they comepete against get.If the clueless people who ahve been rewarded with sport for their political patronage, they should know that it is easier for the Falcons to win the femmale world cup for Affica than the male team. See the way they played the world champions1 As per the goal scoring problem, even the male team is suffering from the same problem. I think it has to do with the football culture we imbibed. It is focused on showmanship rather then the act of scoring goals. An Average Nigerian footballer does something skillful on the pitch and it gets into his head. See how our Male team goalkeeper gave the USA a penalty. People said it was loss of concentration.NO! The guy just wanted to show off and it backfired. watch the way our footballers move around on the pitch and compare it with the more businesslike manner of the Europeans. When they get to the front of the keeper and need to make a decision, they freeze. |
First, shoprite is not the mall. The mall is called The Palms. Shoprite is just a one of the stores that rented a space there just as there are New Metro, PC outlet and others. Secondly, there is nothing bad if people dress up to go to the place as there are quite a few high end stores there as well (tifanny Amber for instance). So, it can be assumed that they are going there for some other thing apart from Shoprite or the game, which are the most popular stores in the mall. Thirdly, the mall culture is fairly new in Nigeria and for many of these people, whose only proximity to a standard mall is what they see in the movies, it can be termed an excitement for them to have these options. Do they go overboard? Yes!! And so what? I rarely have the time to stay that long there and until this thread was started, I never thought about how people dressed. I was there this week at a cafe beside PC Outlet and if not that there was the place chosen by my client, Mr Biggs would have done just fine. People are free to dress as they want to the mall. To now make it a platform for evaluating our values is totally absurd. The ladies who go to Shoprite have made that their business to dress like that to the place.I go to the place if what I want to buy is only available there and I have never cared what people are wearing until someone made it an issue on Nairaland! A common theme in the responses is the notion that even though Nigeria now has a mall, the people are not 'schooled' in the manner they go to malls. In America, it is like, Are you guys serious? |
Since we are posting pictures. How about we begin to post our tax certificates, cos that is what help built those cities o! |
First, I did not really support Fashola during the election. Like most of my colleagues, I voted for Jimi Agbaje but I must say that I have been impressed with Fashola's performance in lagso thus far, given the limitation the state faces in terms of funding when compared with a place like Abuja for example. I think Fashola is only making the best use of the resources that is available to the government.I totally agree with the concept of beautifying our environment that the Lagos State govt is engaged in. The BRT has to be the other plus. because of the State vs Federal roads wahala, the scheme was almost delayed. I did not know it was going to be this successful. Even when it started, I had my reservations but one day, I took the bus from TBS to surulere and sat beside an old man who was telling his friend how the bus has helped him during that fuel scarcity period, as there was no change in bus fare. Our responsibility is to keep the govt on its toes so they do not go into the over celebration madness that all levels of governments are known for. While we are talking about infrastructure, it is instructive to ask how many people outside the formal sector- where monthly deductions are made- actually pay their taxes that will enable the govt fund the infrastructure we all need so much. The fundamental challenge that Lagos faces is also that of derivation, where the state cant even draw from the huge VAT gotten from corporations. This is the tragedy of Nigeria. Lagos should be given a special status because of her human population and strategic economic position. If the PDP government is focused on the people who live there rather than 'capturing the state' during elections, much of the challenges can be dealt with progressively. |
@nairaguy! This is what we get from all UNILAG people;they wish their university was in the same category as Ife and they invent all sorts of reasons why a school that is obviously ordinary as UNILAG should be regarded as special. The only thing going for UNILAG is the fact that it is located in Lagos. Take that away, and many Universities in Nigeria are better than Lag by several miles! The admission you alluded to is well known to everyone that it is a case of first pay first serve in UNILAG. What is the impact of the admission in the products of the school overtime? Ask around. From those within and outside the country and they will tell you that there is something different about an Ife product. It is not just the structures o! What some of you call arrogance is only a sense of pride. For people who finished about the same year I finished, it is the highest insult to engage in any form of comparison between Ife and Lag. UI, one can tolerate as they have a sense of heritage but UNILAG, no way. UNILAG is so overrated! I'd even choose Ilorin ahead of Lag! That is the fact. I know that you lag people will want to defend your schools and all that but you never compare death with deep sleep!! I see people from Lag everyday and I am mostly disappointed not because I expect them to be like Ife people but at least closer by some reasonable distance. Visit Ife my guy and when you are done, ask around; within and outside the country. |
