Hello everyone!
Please I have a question. How do you know if/when your upfront medical is passed (or otherwise)? Do I have to email Qlife or something?
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 20 by Gift212: 5:47am On Jan 04, 2022
Gbam! The letter of acceptance states the $1500 CAD is non-refundable. When you then read up on their site you see the instances in which it can be refunded.
mrprolifik:

They will only give you a refund if your visa is denied and you must upload a copy of the denial letter on your ontario college page. So if you get the visa and decided not to attend the college anymore you wont get a refund. Even if your visa gets denied and you fail to upload a copy of the denial letter on your ontario college website you wont get a refund.
You can get the full info on their website by clicking on the link below and see for yourself where it states that the deposit remains non refundable if you dont supply a copy of the visa rejection letter.

Please, I'm trying to apply for Canadian visa but the family form and other forms to be filled won't open on my laptop.
Please, what can I do to be able to open these documents?

Have you treated yourself now? I suggest you also look into that independently, and get the all-clear before re-applying.

Congratulations Slimberry! Conestoga issa movement. Are you resuming winter or fall semester?
slimberry16:
Okay so time for timeline and Gist.
This is my 6th admission to conestoga (crazy right ? ) I’ve been getting admission since 2018 but never really made it to the visa application stage because of one document or the other most especially POF but somehow this year I made it work and FINALLY applied. I’ve been denied US visa, Turkish visa and Australian visa in the past so I didn’t exactly have a good record. But the only thing I’ll say is, when you see agents RUN OOH !! They don’t do anything special you’ll end up doing all the work and the only thing they’ll do is fill forms ( secretary isonu ). I did my application by myself from admission to PPR. I don learn my lesson

TIMELINE
Application submitted: Aug 23
Biometrics done : Aug 27
Medical Request: Oct 20
Medical done : Nov 12
Medical passed : Nov 22
BVL & PPR : Dec 13

Again, If you haven’t applied do it by yourself! Agents don’t do anything special.

And oh thanks to mankind for sharing some vital information with me

Success to everyone still awaiting Goodnews✅

1. Go with your phone
2. Airport has wifi. Most public places have wifi
3. Some airlines have wifi onboard (free for a duration or paid), use whatever wifi-enabled device you own.
PatrickOkunima:
Happy Sunday, Guys.

I hope we're all doing well today?

Please, I have some questions.

To those who have travelled,

1. Do you go with your phones?

2. How do you communicate with your friends and family when you just arrive Canada?

3. The Wi-Fi on the airplane, with which device (phone) do you access it?

How much was your school fees plus living expenses? one or 2 year course? Also, who's your sponsor to you? Does he/she have other dependants? Maybe the VO factored how much of the sponsor's earnings and other responsibilities compared to the amount needed for study and thought it modest.
MJ1000:
My sponsor had 25m closing balance and fixed deposit of 20m. Landed property as well.

The difference is for vaccinated travelers (Canadians or foreign) coming from outside the US or Canada ? Was the Day 1 testing required for all travellers before now?
Leyemoshood:

But this is the same thing they said Nov 30, something must be different on that update and we're not getting it. They need to come out plain
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 20 by Gift212: 8:21pm On Dec 08, 2021
They said foreign nationals which i take as anyone that isn't a Canadian. So dem dun deny PR holders now sef hahaha. Anyway, what I understand is if you're not a Canadian and you want to come into the country you have to have been out of the prohibited countries for 14 days prior to travel, and the below scenarios are what will happen/be required when you land.
Leyemoshood:

The thing is, they didnt mention Canadian Citizens or PR or People with Indian status like they usually do. So one cant just assume they meant that.
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 20 by Gift212: 8:11pm On Dec 08, 2021
Lmaoooo 'ello tueh tueh. Testing microphone 1, 2... I never do ielts before o please pardon my translation.

It says Nigeria and the rest are still banned. For their citizens and PR holders coming from the banned countries, regardless of full vaccination or not are subject to testing and quarantine. Day 1 in government facility, if negative they get to go to their own quarantine location and then re-test on day 8. Even if it's negative, they will remain in quarantine till day 14. If positive, they remain in isolation for 10 more days (Day 18)
"All other travellers, regardless of vaccination status, who have been in the countries listed above within the last 14 days, will be subject to immediate on arrival (Day 1) testing. They will also be required to complete a test on Day 8 after arrival, and quarantine for 14 days."

Now to the one that concerns those of us needing to fly through countries that isn't the US
Vaccinated travellers- They will take a day 1 test on arrival, and are allowed to go home to wait for the result.
They may also select to quarantine you until the negative test is received.

Unvaccinated travellers- They will take a Day 1 test on arrival and taken to quarantine until test is returned. Negative you go home and isolate and take a Day 8 test. If day 1 is positive, you may still get to go home and isolate or kept in quarantine for 10 additional days

Vaccinated travellers who have travelled outside Canada or the United States within the past 14 days are required to take a Day 1 COVID-19 arrival test and quarantine at home until Day 1 test results are received.
If the result of the Day 1 arrival test is positive, the traveller is required to isolate at home for an additional 10 days.
If the result of the Day 1 arrival test is negative, the traveller is released from quarantine.

Un-vacinated- If the result of the Day 1 arrival test is negative, the traveller is required to quarantine at home and take a Day 8 COVID-19 test.
If the result of the Day 8 test is negative, the traveller’s quarantine ends on Day 14.
If the result of the Day 8 test is positive, the traveller must isolate for an additional 10 days

With these few points of mine, I hope I've been able to convince you,not confuse you that you are permitted to spend 14 days in a non-prohibited country and fly to Canada from there. But be prepared to possibly spend 14 days in quarantine.

Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 20 by Gift212: 11:23pm On Dec 05, 2021
I got your question, and my answer is still yes. Airlines can deny boarding (departure point or in transit) for any number of reasons, the same way border officers can deny entry. And sometimes they can be overzealous (or the R-word), or may not know the immigration policies of the destination country. But in the case of Canada, especially with covid (before the ban), they allowed students in 4 weeks (I believe) before school begins. Also at the port of entry, you're given a student permit, so what justification do you have for having a student permit when you're not yet a student? What grounds would you be in the country on? So on this basis boarding may be denied at any point.
Ifyonyem1:

I know about the Nigerian own but have you witnessed or experienced someone who was denied on transit by a different country entirely that isn't even his or her final destination country that's my question ?
According to her she used Lufthansa
And was returned in germany

Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 20 by Gift212: 10:58pm On Dec 05, 2021
Lol yes. They deny people from boarding from Nigeria sef. The person left way too early, 7 months early? That's too much.
Ifyonyem1:
Is it possible to be sent back when you have a valid canada visa and you on transit
Is it possible to be returned back to ur home country by the country you are transiting through for
Reason being that you are travelling earlier than you are suppose to ..for instance you are meant to resume studies by October but you are traveled March
Can you be denied access to reaching ur final destination ..because a friend of mine said she was sent back from germany
Back to Nigeria and was asked to return when her time of study is near maybe a month before ..I wanna know how possible that is ?
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 20 by Gift212: 4:13pm On Dec 04, 2021
There's no rule against this. The ban says exactly that, if you have been in the banned countries in the last 14 days you won't be allowed in. When India was banned for months this is what they did too, transited through another country for 14 days or more and onwards to Canada. No one will penalize you for following the rule. The ban isn't against Nigerians, it's against foreign nationals flying into canada from Nigeria with 14 days.

CalcreteJB:
My concern with going through another country is, can't they trace that one left Nigeria to pass through another country for 14days before moving to Canada??

Just thinking

If you have a valid visa in an old passport it remains valid even after passport expires. They do not stamp "cancelled without prejudice" on your valid visa pages. When travelling you hold both old and new passports, and present at immigration.

yes exactly. That's the issue.

Hello everyone, just to let you know Qatar Airways is currently running a Black Friday sale from now till the 28th on tickets for travel up until September 2022. So you may want to check it out. They land in Montreal and then you fly domestic to your destination (can be booked together). To book make your booking online, call their office (Nigeria or Qatar) to get the rate in naira, make payment to their naira account, send payment receipt to their email and they issue your ticket.
Thought to drop this for anyone interested. Safe travels.

So sorry about the delay, but can we get more information on your application? Who is your sponsor to you? Has he/she made any financial commitment to you in the past or now? Like, send you funds towards your education/pay tuition, write a letter of sponsorship...? How did you discuss home ties and finances in your SOP?
Have you ordered your GCMS notes?

"If you have an existing IRCC account:
This portal account is not connected with your IRCC account.
You'll only see visitor visa, transit visa or study permit applications you create and submit via this Portal account.

Can I just add that some sections may vary, depending on what you answer in the questionnaire/application. For example, my section 3 (automatically generated) is for a copy of my US visa, Section 4- National ID card. Section 5- Funds (proof). Then optional documents (Any additional documents ; my SOP,birth certificate, resume etc goes here), then final section is consent form (optional/if it applies).
Aijay26:
The cons of this route is that, for every section you are allowed to upload just a MAX of 2mb file size. There are 5 sections.
Section 1 : International passport
Section 2: Admission Letter
Section 3: Supporting Documents; in this section I uploaded my Sop and any documents backing my claims in the SOP
Section 4: PROOF OF FUNDS ; now this is where i had issues due to the file size. I had to tell them since section 5 is consent form and it will be an empty space i will upload a continuation of my proof of funds there. So I divided anything that has to do with money or assets into two. Upload all BS documents and supporting documents such as relationships btwn the sponsor and I in section 4 and any thing that had to do with landed properties/assets and all in section 5.

My advice: due to the file limit here, try and get your documents electronically. Avoid having most documents like BS in the paper format and then scanning it. If you do so, the file size will be big, if compressed it will likely not be readable.

The pro of this method is that in all section every document needed is explained explicitly. Let me use the section of proof of funds for instance, you will be told all the updated documents that is acceptable by the VO and also it is stated that every letter of sponsorship should indicate the exact amount the sponsor is willing to give. This will help the VO analyze the proof of funds in respect to the amount stated by the sponsor.

For me this method taught me how proof of funds can be tackled

You, your brother and Aunt should dust your collective slippers and run from this type of agent
Aissy:
Good evening everyone
So while me I am patiently waiting for my approval, my aunt wants to sponsor my brother to study in Canada too. But the agent she gave us said my brothers CGP of 3.09 is too low to get a master which I agree then I suggested he gets a PGD from all the information I have gathered on this page instead the agent said he should forge a certificate with a higher grade then use that apply which I strongly oppose to ooh. He said he has done it for plenty people that if my brother wants to go ahead with getting a PGD then he won’t do the visa application for him. Isn’t all this funny my people?
