INEC RESCHEDULES RIVERS ELECTION TO 19TH FEB.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has just announced the rescheduling of the Rivers elections to Friday, 19th February ,2016.

This was contained in a release signed by the Commission's secretary.

Elections shall also hold in states like Gombe and others where the courts have ordered re-runs.
I heard INEC has corrected itself. The election is to hold on Saturday 19th of MARCH 2016.
Why on earth did they come out with a date that falls of Friday to start with?

Some people have conscience while some people - especially those in far away lands with no connection whatsoever to the events in Israel / Palestine other than religious ego - will soon come here and call these men/women cowards and traitors.
I have seen video documentaries of able-bodied Israelis who vow to defend their country with every drop of blood in them as long as it does not involve occupation (i.e they are ready to defend Israel from external aggressors but they will not participate in occupation - terrorizing other people in their country). These are the people my hate-filled brothers and sisters will call traitors.
Watch this space, they will soon be here.

CAN blasts El-Rufai over alleged comment on Jesus Christ

On January 30, 20139:42 pm/In News, Top Stories/Comments

…urges FG, JNI to call him to order

BY JOSEPH ERUNKE

ABUJA—The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Wednesday, described recent statement linked to former Federal Capital Territory Minister, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, on Jesus Christ, as not only reckless but also indicative of deep-seated moral bankcruptcy.

El-Rufai had tweeted on January 28, that “if Jesus criticises Jonathan’s government, Maku, Abati or Okupe will say that he slept with Mary Magdalene”.

Addressing newsmen on the issue, CAN warned El-Rufai that “if he persists in such matters and making such divisive commentaries, he must prepare himself for a very forceful and vigorous reaction from the Church and the Christian community in Nigeria”.

Speaking through its General Secretary, Rev. Musa Asake, CAN warned that the “maturity and dignified restraint of the Christian populace, in the face of inflammatory and provocative statements, should not be taken as licence for unbridled assault.

“We urge his religious leaders and political associates to advise him to be far more sobre and circumspect and put a padlock on his mouth before he lights the candle that sets our country on fire.

Mallam El- Rufai
Mallam El- Rufai

“On our part, we urge the Christian community and our Christian youths to continue to be restrained and always seek peace, love and harmony, in spite of the provocations that they are facing from the likes of Nasir El-Rufai and those he represents.

“We must not allow him to turn Nigeria into a cauldron of fire by his reckless, bigoted and twisted commentaries about our Lord or our faith and we must view him for exactly what he is, a failed, desperate, hate-filled and drowning politician, who is now stoking embers of religious division to create a political base for himself amongst his people.

“Nigeria has no place for a religious bigots who delight in insulting the Christian faith.
“We urged the Federal Government to call Nasir El-Rufai to order and not to overlook the possibility that his joke was not only contrived but was actually calculated to create an even greater wedge between Christians and Muslims with the attendant consequences.

“Had it not been for the maturity, fortitude, patience, decency, forgiving nature and deep sense of restraint that the majority of Christians have in our country, El-Rufai would not have been safe anywhere in Nigeria today after cracking such an expensive joke.”

If indeed El-Rufai actually said this, then I must confess he is an INEFFECTIVE BUFFON.
BTW, I am a muslim but the statement is very reckless and completely irresponsible. The last administration preyed on the religious and ethnic fault lines for the last election. Thank God for HIS miraculous grace that made us escape another Rwanda genocide. Hence, the last thing we need now is stewpid politicians that will cause unnecessary acrimony among the people.

Buhari and his family are safe from the contamination of this stewpid act.
The poor fishermen, farmers and the people of the surrounding communities will bear the brunt of the contamination.
The most annoying thing is that they will still come back and ask the oil company to clean the spill while still expecting the company to be alive to its social responsibilities.

PoliticsRe: Real Reasons I Conceded To Buhari —jonathan by gists: 5:53am On Jan 31, 2016
Exactly how does he want to win the war if he didn't hand over peacefully? He was not in control of the army. He couldn't even dare to visit Borno. Most of the foot soldiers that wlll actually fight were very bitter against his government - they even shot at their commanders. He did have the support of most of the people. And perhaps most importantly he didn't have the support of the international community. Yes a lot of people would have died but surely the war wouldn't have lasted more than two weeks.
He blew up the good will he had in 2011 when the international community was solidly behind him as well as the people.
So handing over the power peacefully in an election you lost particularly with such odds against you is nothing heroic. In fact he did himself a huge favor. Gbagbo and his wife are still cooling off in prison

What did him in for the treason is openly soliciting for money to buy arms and ammunition to level war against a sovereign nation and his constant bragging of making Somali a child's play compare to his plan to wage war against Nigeria.

There is nothing treacherous about radio broadcast for self-determination which is supported by all the tenets of democracy and civilized world. Look, operating an illegal radio is not a treasonable offence. But the content of the broadcast is what make it treason.

Comparatively, can you and your Daura DSS tell us where kanu is keeping his weapons of mass destruction? Even with all the proof the FBI had on Doggart, He was NOT CHARGED WITH TERRORISM-Related crimes. Only for "VIOLATING A FEDERAL STATUTE THAT MAKES IT ILLEGAL TO DAMAGE OR DESTROY PROPERTIES"

Is that the statutes you are activating in your quoran-based nigerian constitution?

So why is twitter busy shutting down ISIS account and that of their supports if not the fact that they recognize the danger in spreading hate messages over mass media?
A hate message passed over mass media is FAR more dangerous than that made over a phone call. Go to US and pass such kind of message over the radio and see if you will not be picked up

You are a typical Nigerian. No wonder things are not upright in the zoo. A secret phone call has become a radio broadcast.
Simple reasoning is difficult for most of you. If the US (the chief Freedom of Speech crusader) can do that to someone over a "mere" phone call which was made to just one person (or just a couple of people if it was a conference call), what do you think they will do if the message was passed over the radio with much wider reach?

Per the bolded, I guess you meant USA. Anyway unlike the zoo called Nigeria, USA will not regard mere act of coughing as a treasonable offence. A broadcast message cannot be regarded as secret or ingredients of treason anywhere in the world but Nigeria. I guess Nigeria is highly afraid of disintegration.
Don't fo0l yourself. Even in US where we are made to believe that their is freedom of speech, this is what happened to Robert Doggart (the man who merely threatened wipe out a muslim community but was arrested before he even started.
On April 24, Doggart entered into a plea agreement, pleading guilty to one count of making threats via the phone, and he will be fined up to $250,000 and spend as much as five years in prison pending a judge’s approval of the deal.

Doggart was taken into custody in April and released on a bond of $30,000 to home detention in May. If convicted, he could receive a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, along with a $250,000 fine and three years of probation.

Bryan Hoss, Doggart's lawyer, said Social Security disability records show his client has depression and a personality disorder, but is not a danger. Hoss wrote that Doggart has no prior criminal record, according to court documents.

Right now Britain is struggling with the terrifying reality of her own citizens going to join extremist terrorist groups to do unspeakable things. Condemnation of such development is very high in the UK currently and Britain would be called out for hypocrisy if seen to support Kanu's hateful incitement against Nigerians at a time the UK is trying to jail and prohibits more of her own domestic hate mongers . If you go abroad to preach hate then face the local consequences of your actions. That seems to be the message of the UK with their silence over Kanu. You cannot be condemning terror against your homeland and supporting such against others.
Meanwhile, some people are still deluding themselves that Britain will "show" Nigeria grin grin
I'm sorry I just can't imagine Britain jeopardizing her relationship with Nigerian simply because of a blackman that somehow acquires the British passport. Even if he was a full-blown white, the best Britain can do in my opinion is plead with Nigeria to allow the accused man to be tried (and jailed) in UK and not just brag that Nigeria must release their citizen. And it will be left to Nigeria to decide if they want to listen to the plead or not.

Even sef, Britain may even withdraw her citizenship from Mr kanu

When that blackmail didn't work you guys turned to niger delta - trying to stealthly brainwash them into fighting your battle for you. When that also failed, you turned to Britain. We saw a certain petition from God know where claiming to have been written to the house of common or something like that. Till this day, Britain has not dealt with Nigeria. Now its the British MP Angela Rayner that is Raising Concerns To Foreign Office. Is it not even ironic that this is the same britain that has been vilified for conniving with Nigeria that made the Biafran army lost the civil war.

Please digress on this:
Let alone the last time we have a budget that focus more on capital project. Even if the price of oil goes down to $20/barrel, it still won't affect the financing of the budget that much (provided we are able to maintain a reasonable amount of sales).
And please remember there is quota at OPEC for all members and the country has lost it's major buyer, USA. Is it not further starvation that will arise from the lift of ban on Iran by the IEAE?
Please, help us to light up our dark edges here if we have one with your explanations.
Thanks.
I will be among those Nigerians that will criticize this government if it fails to deliver. But I will not criticize someone who has spent less than 4 months on the mantle. That is the point I was trying to make. Can people just be fair for once? NOI had two chances and she blew both chances up, yet people are still asking her to come back for a third spell. It took NOI 5 yrs with record high proceeds from oil sales to ruin the economy to what it is today. Yet this same people want Adeosun to wave the magic wand in 3 months.
As for the country losing it biggest customer and iran coming back on, it will definitely impact on the earnings of the country. But the fact is according to the budget, projected oil earning makes lower percentage from the total earning projections. SO while there will be loss of income from oil, it won't be as bad requiring the government to borrow money just to pay salary like in the last administration.
