I shouldn't be addressed as " you guys" for stating my opinion.
With all the tales of woes emanating from the posts that mentioned me, I am yet to see any of you mention someone who can get us out of this.

I still stand on my opinion that as NOI "got" us into this mess she as hell should be compelled to redo the wrongs on our economy. Period.
Right!!
We can also recall Babangida to come undo the corruption foundation mess they created.
Brilliant! If NOI couldn't do it over 5year (on her second tenure) when crude was selling over $100/barrel, is it now that it sells for less than $30 that she will do anything meaning full in less than 6 months that adeosun has been the minister.
Just think sincerely about it.

Gbawe:
Indeed. They are nothing but hateful elements and it has taken a principled and resolute President, i.e Buhari, to totally discredit them and show them up as nothing but emptily braggart children of hate and bigotry. They supported GEJ, NOI, Allison-Madueke et al blindly for years. Now it has been shown, beyond any shadow of doubt, that those folks totally destroyed Nigeria mercilessly over a period of several years yet they still have the audacity to be calling for the sack of Adeosun who has been Finance Minister for 3 months and trying to clean the mess their heroes caused b!! Very wicked, bitter and inhuman folks. As if the entire world does not now see through the impotent wailing of these bigots.

If these supporters of GEJ, NOI et al had any human decency in them they would be ashamed at the mess those folks created and get behind Buhari and his appointees like Adeosun. I am just grateful we are in an era of a strong Presidency where the stock of empty braggarts and enemies of progress has gone down horribly to the extent they are nothing but a butt of jokes these day only capable of impotent ultimatums and empty chest-beating. Adeosun is going nowhere and she will get a chance to get it right so haters of Northerners (Buhari) and SW folks (Adeosun) should prepare for the 2019 election. Ali Baba (GEJ) and his 40 thieves (Dasuki, NOI, Allison-Madueke et al) are not coming back any time soon. The people of Nigeria have given Buhari and Adeosun, by extension, their mandate . let haters GOD (go and die).
Abi o. In the words of ipod youth "we give buhari 48hrs ultimatum. he must release methu and kanu" grin grin

Are you for real?... Are you aware that the same NOI was still the finance minister as at May 29th 2015?... Ignorance is no excuse in this matter, go and read about how bad things had already fallen as at the time of handover when oil was even still selling above $60/barrel. You obviously started taking note of how bad things were after the polity had calmed down following handover.

As at the 2nd quarter of 2015, the much touted Nigeria's GDP growth rate had already crashed to 2.3%, that's like it's lowest since 1999. Also in just a few months of the oil price crash (from November 2014 to May 2015), the Naira had crashed from about N170 to $1 to about N220. I wouldn't want to mention the steady decline in the nation's forex reserves within this same period and the fact that as at February/March 2015, even the FG had to borrow money to pay common worker's salaries. It was also within this same period that the FG could not pay subsidy arrears (since August 2014) and that led to the fuel scarcity we had in May 2015 and also the most recent fuel scarcity because even the new government delayed in paying off those debts. Now within this period in view, oil prices still sold above $60/barrel and you really think NOI was such a miracle worker?
honestly my brother, I just tire for some people.

Stop mentioning all these countries because even with the severe strain they seem to be experiencing, there are clear policy directions by the managers of their economies to absorb shock and keep them afflot.

Please kindly tell me the ones we currently have or you remain perpetually silent whenever enlightened people discuss issues affecting the welfare of Nigerians
dude, apart from the fact that they are not mono-economy like ours, what else can you tell us about their policy that you personally know that is absorbing the shock? Is it adeosun's fault that we are mono-economy?
The finance ministers (or equivalent) of those countries that you said I shouldn't mention have been in office far longer than adeosun. so what the heck is your point?
And you still have not answered the question even after all your rants. provide a solution or name someone else (if sacking is still your solution) from anywhere in the world that could have prevented/reversed our situation within the time-frame she has been in office.

Okonjo iweala irrespective of whatever is the best person to get us outta this problems now, you can sue her after but she understands finance and economy more that many. She just have to work without anybody harassing her for her to focus.
She has been the minister of finance TWICE!!
Where has she led us to?
For me I believe this gov should be given a fair chance to work. I don't even remember the last time we had a budget that didn't rely heavily on oil. Let alone the last time we have a budget that focus more on capital project. Even if the price of oil goes down to $20/barrel, it still won't affect the financing of the budget that much (provided we are able to maintain a reasonable amount of sales).
So when people begin to criticize without giving any peculiar reason and worst still without any solution, it shows they are just being bitter over GEJ's loss

He asked you a simple question and you about ranting. Answer the question or forever remain silent.
Its too easy to criticize without having a shred of idea of what to do.
Is Nigeria the only country investors are leaving? Investors are not silly. They will take their money to more matured/secure environment (the US economy in this case because the US is just vexing trashing everybody - largely because of the contribution of their sales from oil)
Is it only the naira that is losing value? Have you checked out how mush canadian dollar, austrailian dollar, Rusian ruble, Chinese yen and many more advanced economy have lost to the USD? by your theory, all these countries should also fire their finance ministers abi?

Just provide a solution as you were asked or forever remain silent.

I actually meant support area. Thanks to my friends who corrected my mistake. In forex, there is what we call support and resistance. Picture the support area as the ground you are standing on right now and the resistance area as the ceiling of your house.

Prices are like bouncing balls. When you hit a ball on the ground, what happens? And when the ball hits the ceiling what happens? There is a reason why they say whatever goes up much surely come down and whatever comes down but surely go up; this is one of such cases.

Price can't keep going down, irrespective of what people say or do.
But you forget that people also say the market can remain irrational for much longer than you can remain solvent lol
So don't bet your life saving that will bounce back so soon. We may be in for a long bearish session. But I hope not - just that its better to err on the side of safety and prepare for the worst. If things gets better sooner than planned, we'll give more glory to God.

thanks for the correction. I was already dossing off when I typed. Possibly but it won't be long before things begin to take shape and they goes back up. As you can see, we are around the support area already and I don't think it will fall too far from there.
I am not a technical analysis expert, but from the look of things, it looks like that "support" may not hold.
PoliticsRe: Am I A Prophet? Check This Out And Confirm Yourself by gists: 9:06am On Jan 18, 2016
I don't really support a one-sided fight against corruption. BUT I support any kind of fight against corruption because the battle just has to be fought. If we have to wait for the perfect war commander to engage a "balance fight" against corruption, then we will wait till eternity.
So, I err on the side that the current tempo be sustained (if not increased). If PDP put their acts together, confess their sins and repent without "going back to Egypt", then people may bring them back to Aso Rock and then they too will fight a one-sided war on corruption.

Bottom line as long as they are not falsely accused, let the fight go on!

Exactly...

Many people were hailing him when he said Muslims will not be allowed but then he suddenly became a "useless noise maker" when he mentioned Nigeria
Thank you jare.
This is exactly my point. Not that I really give a damn about the authenticity of this story myself. But I was just pointing out their hypocrisy on how they are quick to accept and commend the man when he made the initial senseless statement and the same people now complaining about the another "derogatory" statement (because it now affects them).
Like I said, most reasonable people have moved beyond Trump's senseless, nauseating, bigoted supremacist talks.
But also as far as I am concerned, we must realize that Americans will vote for whoever will best serve their national interest. If they so think Mr. Trump is the best man for the job and elect him as the POTUS - so be it - whether he sends Nigerians/Muslims out of the US is his/their headache. Also, no matter how much people rant, if Americans think Hillary is the best person, their is absolutely nothing any nairaland user can do about it. It will be better if people face this reality. The last time I checked, success and good quality of life does not start and end in the US.
BTW we also have the right to eject the likes of Mobil and Chevron (afterall oil price have considerably collapsed). But ultimately, it is their right to do whatever is best for their country (as long as it is done in line with UN policy)

Fo0ls are abounds everywhere!
When the president said there are no weapons does it mean there are absolutely no weapons at all?
I guess it was banga knockout the NA has been using on their various missions outside the country.
Let's not even remind ourselves of the tragedy of the Ikeja cantonment blast during OBJ regime. Were those explosions caused by bisco bangas too?
When people say their is youth unemployment, does it mean their no youth at all that is gainfully employed? Or will you call anyone that makes that statement a liar?

But in 2015, with the sophistication of terrorism and external threats, it is safe to say Nigeria does not have weapons.
AND for God's sake is it only about weapons? What about logistics? How come BH was able to kill boys in their school at night without even the slightest of responses from the army? How come girls were abducted (in lorries I believe) without even a chase from the army? How come Nigeria army was disgracefully chased by BH to Cameroon?

Our fears are just keep getting confirmed that PDP is brain dead and is not capable of putting APC on its toes with intelligent criticism/opposition.

Here's a piece of advice, no matter how you guys try you just cannot wash away the sins of you corruption hero. Under his nose, the country's account was ravaged even with high proceeds from oil. And when oil revenue started dwindling, he started short-changing the states of their allocation all in a bid to quench their thirst for embezzling. Naira depreciated from about N140/$ when he assumed office in 2010 but he left it at over N200/$ in 2015 - again even with high proceeds from oil!

Southwest Muslims Reject Invitation To Meet Jonathan
MAR 01, 2015
President Goodluck Jonathan’s proposal to meet tomorrow with a cross-section of Muslim leaders in the southwest at Ansarudeen Central Mosque, Ajao Surulere, Lagos State, has met a brick wall, with most of the religious figures indicating their reluctance to attend. A source close to Mr. Jonathan told SaharaReporters that, unless there was a miraculous change of heart, the meeting is unlikely to hold.
:
:
Another Muslim leader told SaharaReporters that it was shameless to go about distributing money that belongs to the masses to a few religious leaders. “We want the money to be used to better the lot of all Nigerians,” said the source, an Islamic cleric in Abeokuta.
