You still aren't getting the point. Your problem is not leaving early or earning low, your problem is your working strategy.

Take for example, I was at Ogunnusi road, Ojodu yesterday and was getting trips with pickup at Ikeja City Mall which is like 25 minutes from there. Even though they came on 1.7x surge, I canceled them all. In a short while, I got a trip with five minutes pickup going to Protea Hotel on a 1.5x. Protea is opposite ICM which means that I was able to benefit from the surge in ICM without driving empty to that place. That trip gave me 1900 which I would have lost driving empty there to pick the riders.

It's not about the gross alone, the fuel and time spent matters. I don't leave my house until it's 9am and I must gross at least 25k with or without bonus.
Yeah, boss.
I got the point.
This empty driving I was talking self no be regularly.
Na once in a while when trip carry me go forbidden areas or where I know I will suffer DS due to traffic.
Well, I got all their points already and will definitely adjust.
Much respect, boss.

You seems to be missing the point.. it’s not about your earning as you are not doing bad with your earning, it’s about working smart by reducing the amount of time you spend on the wheel blowing empty from one place to another, 3MB is about 15 to 20km and no smart driver will blow empty on it… from what you have stated earlier , you spend about 12hrs driving to gross your earning, think and work on ways to reducing your driving time to still get your normal earning … KEYNOTE from readadream “it’s only a matter of time before you burn out” …
Okay. I think I got that right.
I go try dey start driving early be that. Normall, if 8am no knack, I no dey go out. Sometimes, 9am/10am/11am/12noon before I set out.
Na because I no like this early momo hustle (5am/6am), but I go try adjust sha.
Thanks a lot boss.

.....but sincerely there's no where anyone dropping one or two takes adviced that he rough handles the car. What they are all clamoring for is maximizing your time behind the wheels.

If you can meet your daily target between 5/6am-12pm, why not? Why should you remain on the road from 8am to 9pm driving from one hinterland to the other. It's only a matter of time before you burnout.

I was on rental for 10months, paying 35k back to back. So there's nothing anyone can tell me about working smart and keeping the owners car in good shape. I also make bold to say that I Have Never chased nor Won Bolt Bonus before. I don't care about that BS, it's designed to make you suffer.

They are right tho, most important thing is that you’re keeping up your end of the deal with your partner and making sure you’re also keeping something reasonable for yourself.

I use up to 4 a day if I choose togrin just know your card well, study the client and put up a smile or a straight some times. Indriver is also a good one if your DS is dropping so I don't see any sense in that excuse you're trying to make blowing empty across 3MB... Do you know how much that is?

From island to mainland empty??!!
When I'm not madgrin even if na so le 3h from phase1 to oworo thatbwill cover for my fuel I go carry.

Stop saying you blowing empty just to protect partners car... Shey na free him dey give you the motor ni? Abi e get where no get bad road for Lagos?? Haven't you been to alpha Beach road, baale street, or all those interlocking road in phase1 b4? Or don't you know those tiles does more damage to your shaft than the bad gallopy roads on the mainland?
Boss, as I said, anyone wey want copy you must be from the same planet as you. grin
You wey if dem block your account today, you know your way around to build another one. Na you I go want copy? I'm on a long thing be that. grin

Indriver no work with my spirit yet, I just abandoned it for now.

If na my ride, boss, I know wetin I go dey make on daily.
I drive carefully to keep the car in good state so as to serve me enough and the owner too to see it was not a mistake given it to me.
Don't forget, I had no prior bolt driving experience when I collected it - and you know what it must have taken the person to drop such ride to a newbie.
So, I know why I am being careful with the ride, boss.

Bro, I still dey find ride o. Waiting on one deal. Don't know if it will work out. Like this ehn I don get disappointment for rides like four times.

There was one elantra I almost had last month, owner had to repaint and do some repairs before he handed over to me on rental... His mechanic spoilt the gear after painting again just two days to the day we agreed that I'm going to pick the car up, and i had been waiting for almost two months. Owner just became discouraged. He said he won't give it out on rental again, he also had over heating issues after painting before gear go spoil. He just had difficult mechanics and they were chopping his money. As it was a rental deal and I don't have it yet, there was little I could do to advise him. That was how I lost that one.

If you have any connect, a beg reason me o.
So sorry for that opportunity missed. Chai! You for don dey cruise Lagos by now, but God go do another one soon insha Allah.

The hustle and the many challenges almost demotivated me. I dey even dey try pay to bolt now sef, but the money no dey reflect, it keeps getting reversed to my account
I've also paid 10k to those uniform men for taking one-way which was a very funny one-way arrest. Come see as dem catch plenty cars that day, we come line up like say we be presidential escorts. Those people made money that day.
I dey pass there after that and I go just dey smile. Cos the DO NOT ENTER board is always there.

@glithronix.

Dead Zones are places we don't wish to go. Not places we drive out empty.

Ikorodu, Apapa, Ojo, ejigbo, Ikotun, abulegba, Iju, Akute, ibafo, Ipaja, ayobo, Igando, Lakowe, Epe......

These are major dead zones a smart driver don't wish to take a trip to.
But if you eventually take a trip to any of those places, no need to drive out empty, cos 60% of the trips you'll get there are surely trips to better areas.

Why drive empty from Ikorodu to Ikosi when your next trip could be to Ikeja?
Why drive empty from Oshodi to Maryland when your next trip could be to Lekki?

Oshodi to Maryland is about 20mins drive, but you can get a trip inside Oshodi in less than 5mins; and 80% of the times, the trip will take you out of Oshodi.

What if you drive from Apapa to Maryland empty and your next trip from Maryland is taking you back to Apapa?
What if you drive from Egbeda to Ikeja and your next trip is taking you to Ayobo?

When you find yourself in one of those places that you've marked on red, the best thing is to look for a better place around there, park and wait for a trip. You will most likely get a trip to a better area.
If you get a trip that's going within same area or worse, reject it, arrive and cancel, tell rider to Cancel. If bad trips keeps coming in repeatedly, set destination from there to the island or island-to-mainland and wait a while.

Again: the best time to use Indriver are times you find yourself in those dead zones, cos you can easily cherry pick rides to better parts.

Sha do what works for you bro. You'll surely get better with time. I did worse when I got in newly. I always drove down to surulere anytime I took a ride to VI, Ikoyi & Lagos Island. Cos of my fear of lastma and CBD.
I will share them here one day. Don't have the time yet.
I'm trying to host my project and create a good portfolio at the moment.
I used to stay online in those areas, but I noticed that staying online there would take me to the deeper location of those areas.
I remember when a trip took me to Ikorodu and I stayed online, the next trips were taking me to the inner parts of Ikorodu which I regretted.
Apapa is a no-work zone for me. Staying online there took me around some areas there that I regretted as well. You know you can't escape driving in between trucks if you're hustling in apapa. Boss, just forget this apapa stuff.
Maybe na me dey dey too careful sha. Cos I can't stay online in those areas, no assurance say trip to take you to a better location - set destination is just twice a day.
Imagine I took a rider to Egbeda, I risked staying online and ride request that came in was destination of Ayobo. I declined straight.
If I drive empty to let's say ogudu and another trip takes me back to apapa for example, I go still go offline and come back to a good location away from that axis.
I know all these you're saying is to maximize my earnings but what about the car I'm using which is not mine? I can't risk some certain things oooh. as I said, I always hit my target. Be it drive empty or not.
Abeg make I dey careful small small with the ride I dey use.
Much respect, boss.

4 trips for 5.8k? i.e and average of 1.4k per trip a single set destination trip should ear you that amount then do a return trip back home and you're talking of about 9k or even 10k.

Guy you still have a lot to learn but with the bonus chase mentality you've allowed to cloud your mind it will be difficult to school you in some things.

You're on rental and with the hours you out in daily you should be netting at least 25-30k but this your attitude of dead driving and bonus chase will drag you backwards... Liberate yourself from this because your energy and passion will fade away over time for this job so now that the passion and energy and moral is high is the best time you need to know the right thing to do so you can earn better to get your own car.
Boss, anybody wey wan copy you is on a long thing oooh. grin Heheheheeee.
You are a car owner, me I dey on rental. The difference will always be there, cos the way you hustle go dey different from mine.
If I own a car, boss, I know how much target I go give myself daily and I go meet am up.

Weekends, I dey gross 35k-40k wella, which I know the net already.

4 trips of yesterday na short trips which I was happy about cos I just wanted to hustle for expensive meal money, that's all.
I got a trip from Maryland to Island that yesterday evening, I declined straight, cos I was not interesting in hustling yesterday, na just small hustle to get myself some elite dinner. cheesy
I understand your point, boss.
Don't forget, set destination can only be done twice in a day, but I wasn't in the mood for hustle yesterday.

BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Glithronix: 6:20am On Jul 05, 2022
Felicity001:
The hard truth is this, you can't find a HP deal for less that 20months right now be it a naija used or toks... The reason is this.

Cars are now very expensive, a lot of Corolla in dealer stands are recycled and they don't even worth the amount. Do you know that few months used Corolla now is from 2m and above?

Okay I got a car recently for a client (toks) and let's leave total expenses plus insurance at say 1.5m, if he's to give it out on HP at least 2.5m for either 18/20 months... That's because he was lucky to get the asset cheap... How many people can be that lucky?

Import duty is on the increase, February this year backwards is was 650k to clean a Corolla less 2013 model but now it's about a million... 950-1m I think, Mercedes Benz less 2013 is the most crazy now... I was advised to back off because I was planning on importing some (C200) directly from Germany b4 but do you know it cost 2.4m for just duty alonehuh So you see?

The government made Toyota cheaper because they're aware of it usage else, Corolla 03-06 would have been sold currently for 5m+ now as against 2.8/3m+ currently

If someone was to give such car on HP how much do you now think he would sell it for? And how long do you think it would take a hard working driver to finish paying? 3 and half years at least and that driver would definitely change engine within that period if unlucky.

All.of these are reasons why people like dru23 and the likes are not adding to their fleets and investors are no more going into the business and a lot of drivers looking for opportunities.

So your best bet is rental, save up to a million and buy a manual car... If you're lucky to get a cheap with less trouble automatic car fine, under 1 yr you would have made your capital.

But looking for HP deal of 18months? I'm sorry to announce to you, you won't see that's just the honest truth unless you just want to suffer yourself for nothing.
2.4m just for duty on that ride alone? lipsrsealed nawa oooh.
Oga oooh. The lucky ones were those who got their rides like 4-5 years ago and backwards. Cos I have a friend who got his Toks Camry 05 for 1.5m abi na 1.6m. I sha remember say na 1. something million him get am.
Inside life.
Direct HP dey always come expensive mehhhn! Well, na business they're doing sha.
Make person just dey look jare.
HP total of 2.3m, it can be cleared within 15months nah. Well, make the matter sleep sha. We go get there and God no go shame us.

But why do you like dead driving like this? You're wasting money naaaw... Abi is your uncle MRS? You mean you blow empty from Island to main? And Oshodi to Maryland twice? Haba Mana!! Those would have earn you at least 6k net.

Learn to apply the set destination trick some times, it's useful and important and since you've now found a place of peace to work then remain there till when you're ready to close with set destination or should you get a juicy trip to take for instance Airport, Alagbado from say Ajah the you can use your set destination back to the island again instead of doing dead driving.

Stop it!!
Okay, boss.
My fear is bad roads in those areas ni jare.
You know that set destination can only be used twice in a day. Once you exhaust the 2, you can't set destination for that day again.
But still, I hate hustling in that Oshodi area.
Yeah, I drove from island to mainland empty when I had already met my target on the island and traffic mad that day.
Imagine if I was online at lekki that time and I come get order that PU will be 20mins, na cancel I go do and I no want my score to drop again and abuse of arrive button which I know you are aware of.
So, I just say make I kuku zoom go mainland like that - e no mean anything to me.

Retired but not tired driver
Boss man. grin
I wonder how some people still call this empty repositioning shortage. When people also dey complain how Camry dey consume fuel, I come dey wonder whether no be the same Camry I dey use?
Camry no dey chop fuel, the truth is that Corolla dey preserve more fuel than Camry - simple.
Sometimes when trip carry me enter Ipaja side/Ikorodu/Egbeda, etc, once I dropped the rider like this, I go offline straight and I dey blow empty back to places like Ikeja/Maryland/Ogudu road and closed-by axis to reposition myself, cos these areas are forbidden areas for me and I can't risk my boss's car in areas that can kill the car legs - at the end of the day, I go still gross my target, even more than sometimes.
I have friends who are bolt drivers and they made me understand that you don't just drive up and down, set DAILY TARGET.
If I buy fuel 5k, my target na gross close to 25k or even 25k itself, even more than that. And this is on normal weekdays. Many times, I have used 5k fuel to gross 30k before (due to surge).
I grab some wisdom and tricks on this platform, all thanks to the bosses here.

After 2 stops. I finally reached this rider’s destination.

Rider: Please what’s your account number?

Me: you don’t have cash?

Rider: No.

Me: Well, I don’t accept transfers because I don’t get alert. You will…

Rider: cuts me off. Please give me your account number.

Me: 00579…..

Rider: it’s done!

Me: Well, until I see the alert it is not done.

10mins no alert.

20mins no alert. At this stage I don central lock my doors with her friend inside.

Rider: please give me your account number again

Another long wait. No alert.

Rider: can I give you my phone number. If you don’t get it you can call me.

Me: Madam, I don’t need your phone number. I need my money.

Rider: I’ve sent it 4 times.

After all the back and forth. The mf rider had to miraculously pull out cash from her purse and paid.

It’s been more than 5hrs since that ride. I never see any alert.

An ojodu would have foolishly collected her number and rush to the next ride. Only to come lament on Nairaland with audio curses.
The kongTroller of Abj. I salute thee. cheesy
I use access account - if them transfer to me, I open my app almost immediately and it's fast to receive money on that app, money drops fast on it. If I no see your money, you ain't going nowhere.
Once bitten, twice shy.
Much respect, boss.

That's why it's good to share experiences. It helps create awareness for others.

Meanwhile, the rider that jumped out of my car the other time because he didn't want to pay for the trip had to pay double yesterday to get his phone back.
