Good morning sir, from what I'm seeing above, I'm suspecting dermatitis which could be due to ectoparasites e.g Mange. Since she is pregnant, let's avoid any systemic anti-ectoparasitic drug, let's go for topical anti-ectoparasitic drug. Get Amitraz®, and ensure its very diluted then bath her with it. You can also get topical anti-ectoparasitic cream from any vet pharmacy and apply to the area. Penicillin may not work because penicillin is majorly for bacteria and not ectoparasites. Once she has delivered her pups, then I'll tell you the next step.

Good day Doc, please I need your help. My pregnant boerboel dog has this small rashes on her body and always scratching it. It's now spreading fast all over her body. I have applied penicillin on it but no changes. I don't want to administer drugs cos of her pregnancy. Please kindly suggest treatment. Thanks

Lol they always do, you just have to know when to say NO except of course they contributed to your dog’s upkeep.
Same with me here, my dog is not pregnant yet but a lot of my peeps already want free pups

I dont expect any form of support for the dog upkeep from any family member and non will be informed when the puppies arrive. No free pup for any friend and family cos i discovered people dont appreciate free pup and usually neglect the dog since they didn't spend their money in purchasing the pup

15kg dog kibble i usually buy goes for almost 30k now, so periods when things are rough i buy Bingo kibble which now goes for 13k in my area, Bingo lacks proper nutrients, like eating garri without soup! So for added nutrients i add eggs (with grinded egg shells for calcium), fish head or chicken legs. Any day we have left overs in the house, i mix it with her kibble (i know it aint good, but i hate having to throw food, especially in times like this). Some good days i go out of my way to spoil her, other days she just have to make do with what she gets.

Dogs have really adapted to all sorts of food in order to sustain itself, i have a neighbor with a beautiful well fed looking GSD. When i asked him what kibble he gives his dog, he said non, he has never bought dog food, she its what they eat; rice and garri!

Prices of dog foods arent stable dis days. i bought Optimax adult food 15kg 17,500 which my dog consume in three weeks, price now is 18,500. Optimax canned food 24 pcs now 12,000. in two month , i spent over 70k to buy dog food. my dog is pregnant now and one family member will be expecting me to give out puppy free

We welcomed 7 puppies(5 male and 2 female, 2 black and tan, 5 sable). The puppies are huge! E no easy gan... the whelping lasted about 5 hours. All to the glory of God.

Good day Nairalander So sorry for the delay in update, I thought you guys are no longer interested that's why I was minding my business, anytime I drop an update no comment no critics. Anyways I hope you guys are all doing well?
Hercules is doing fine and has grown taller, broken 3 chains and 4 collars and 2 fancy stroller. At some point I was having serious issues with my neighbors because she's said the look of my dog alone is giving her heart attack, caused serious issues that even involved the landlord, so it's either I pack out or I sell him. Looking for new house that will even allow dog is not common, so I put him up for sale � People started pricing him for 100k -120k. So God's intervention came and I was given another spot on where to keep him, Tho it's stressful but my dog is OK and not on sale again for now. Tho that place is stressful for him cos he sees a lot of people passing by and he barks a lot and I fear as time goes on we won't bark again because of over familiarity with people, but at least I won't see him again. Hercules is loyal and obedience and when taking him out for a walk, he doesn't allow animals and people come close to my surroundings until I give him the stop command.

On food:
I stopped giving him kibbles cos of cost, he's a large eater Hercules will finish 15kg in less than 2 weeks cause I feed him 2ice a day, so I started mixing with rice and it still won't last 3 weeks, and 10kg of diamond food is 20k here, so I spend 40k plus monthly on food alone. I normally pack huge poop morning and evening � He was very fat and very sporty, I switched to home made food and he loves it very well, less poop too and I noticed the fall in weight after one month or two, I switched back to kibbles and he rejected it, most times 3 days to 4 days he won't eat until I give home made, now he's 1 year and 1 month now but never gained back his weight, I guess he's growing.

On health:
I have never seen a single tick or flea on him since I bought him, he has never been ill and I bathe him once in a month. I give him vitamin b complex tablets regularly and he eats once a day now, even if you feed him in the morning, he will wait till evening before eating. He's not scared of any dogs.

I think he ready for mating now, always want to mate anything on site, Lol poor him he's still a virgin, will get a female soon and update you guys.

On maintenance:
All vaccinations are complete and deworm every month, but I've not dewormed for 2 months now, will do that very soon.
Last 2 months, I traveled for one month and I saw a heavy shedding everywhere, at first I was scared (never trained a Caucasian before) and all his long and fur gone and I almost cried, bought cod liver oil and daily vitamin b complex tablets.

There is this of my friend who has a 1 year and 6 months female Caucasian dog,and what to sell the dog because he what's to travel abroad in the next two weeks cus all his papers are all complete he wants to sell the dog at the rate of 150k, but i bargained it with him to 100k and now he what's to sell it like that, because he needed the money badly, he was telling me that i will be the one to benefit from it because the dog will be on heat by next month which is June 2maro, so if i could see i will really benefit from it like crossing the dog before least next 2months the dog will deliver and i will sell the puppies and recover my money times 2.
I'm confused now if i could go ahead and buy the dog from him, and besides it's my first time of training a dog as I have not train a dog before please what are my chances...does dog owners really make money from it, from selling the puppies.

NOTE: the dog has delivered 12pupiess for him before, will the number increase or decrease in the second delivery

Aside the dog breeding and the gains. You have to consider other factors attached to owning a dog. are you dedicated and ready to take proper care of the dog? Do you love dog or just interested in the business of selling the puppies?

Some vets don't cherish sick dogs.

I remembered my 5 months old Caucasian, after eating and Vomiting, I have to call the vet, e said I should send 10k and I am owing 5k before, I sent the 5k first and not until 9 hours the vet came to treat the dog.

Gave my dog 6 injections and 3 drips within 5 mins, then I stayed with the dog till 4am before I went to bed and before I came out, it was dead.

Hmmmmm, I cried oooo.

So sad

Best decision. Wish the dog speedy recovery. All the best

I lost my 3month old dog on Christmas Eve. It was very painful.
Now my older Dog is sick also and vomitting since 2days now.
I got a veterinary guy to see him and he administered injection yesterday.
He vomitted again last night.
Please what could be the problem.
I am suspecting it's parvovirus.

Please kindly make sure a professional vet is administering treatment. If the dog could survive the first four days there is a great chance that it will pull through. The dog needs urgent and daily drips, antibiotics, multivitamins and novax for the diarrhoea. Most importantly the dog needs care, and love to keep it going. Keep giving the dog water mix with glucose through syringe. Use wet cloth to massage the dog to keep the temperature normal. Incase you have other dogs please keep them far away from the effected dog and wash the kennel with hypo. Please don't engage the service of pet assistance parading as a vet. Wish you all the best

Are you sure its parvo? its unlikely the dog suffer parvo virus twice . kindly contact a vet to diagnose the symptoms before administering the right treatment.

Simply go a a vet, he/she will administer Ivermectin injection in order to destroy the parasite from within, and you can also get an acaricidal bath like lime sulphur, armitraz, cypermethrin etc to bath your dog every week. But please make sure your dog's environment is clean and if you are financially buoyant enough, you can get Fipronil® spray for preventive measures. I hope this helps

Look for a vet to examine the dog.... any drug prescription here may be dangerous to the dog health. You need a vet to urgently examine the dog for proper treatment. Kindly be fast about it

There is good chance the dog will survive . once the dog can endure for 6 days.. The survival chance is very high... You can boil egg for the dog and later prepare white rice without salt.
