PureFace1: Many of you guys still underestimate the investment of Yoruba in Lagos lol
80% of Yoruba wealth in Nigeria is in Lagos State, many Yoruba from Oyo, Ondo, Ogun Osun, Kogi, KWARA invested heavily in Lagos to make Lagos what it is today, so even if all Igbo pull out of Lagos the vacuum will be fill by other tribes or neighbouring countries.
100years from now Lagos will still be the most industrial place in Nigeria. Lagos foundation is unshakable even In industrialization today no state in Nigeria can beat Ogun state, even Anambra can't match the industrial capacity of Oyo state. It is all futile endeavor. They should make haste and leave lagos and the entire south west ASAP. The day igbos will leave south west, we will mark a day to celebrate their complete departure. That day shall be celebrated every year so that our unborn children will know that once upon a time, a nuisance, bitter and ungrateful tribe from the sad yeast once lived with us. |

Ofodirinwa: Nigerian governors are full of stupidity. Imagine you struggle, build a business from nothing, that business opens a factory, it grows from your hard work, you open your second factory. Then one mumu governor that arrive yesterday will come, cut a ribbon infront of your factory and their lackeys will report that the governor 'commissioned' your factory. When you build your own factory, don't call anyone to commission it. It is not by force. The governor was invited by the owner of the factory to commission it, the governor can not just come and commission a factory if not invited. It is even a privilege for a governor to come down and commission your company, it will encourage government patronage, support and more publicity. Bush man. |

IamAtikulate: Lagos is a former FCT and British colony and was never developed with Yoruba taxes but oil money.
Let's compare our tax haven with Ogun. Lagos have been what it is long before oil was discovered. You want to compare your tax haven with ogun? Ogun state is currently the second most industrialized state in Nigeria and is currently the destination of many igbos. How many states in the east can you compare with ogun state? You didn't even mention Osun or Ekiti you are calling ogun. Dey play |
Politics › Re: 2022 Internally Generated Revenue, Top 3 Per Zone by Godfullsam(m): 10:36am On Nov 28, 2023 |
MadamExcellency: Stealing by the Government to enrich the politicians while keeping the middle class and average Haruna, Dike and Tope impoverished is the definition of high IGR.
Socialist and Liberal Governments are known to tax the people and corporations heavily while Republican and Conservative Governments cut taxes. Conservative and Republican Governments substrate donations to charity and schools from taxable income. These are different policies by different governments.
A high IGR is the opposite of a good government in Nigeria. How many people in the east have the shameful tax record enriched biko? U guys always find a way to defend nonsense. Just tell us your governors are clueless on how to raise igr through tax. You said the south east government are conservative but they steal money to enrich themselves while the region remained under developed. |
Politics › Re: 2022 Internally Generated Revenue, Top 3 Per Zone by Godfullsam(m): 9:54am On Nov 28, 2023 |
IamAtikulate: IGR = Taxes
Anambra is a tax haven, in case you don't.
Again, SE leaders are more economically sound than their SW counterpart.
For instance, Alex Otti recently said that "Taxes are government share of the prosperity it creates."
Do you really understand what that means?
Have you wondered why SE Governors, especially Abia and Anambra keep lowering taxes?
You won't understand because you guys suck at economics.
Keep celebrating IGR which is not an economic indicator while your debts keep mounting.
You claim to generate the highest IGR in the country yet SW has the highest debt ratio.
It doesn't make sense.
If Anambra State government is tax-obsessed like Ogun and SW Governors, only Onitsha Main Market will generate the whole if whatever IGR Ogun gets.
You are making noise because of 120 billion.
FYI, 12 million daily transaction happens at Onitsha Main Market. The market annual transactions sits at around $3 billion, with 40% of this circulating as unbanked transaction.
You can verify these claims with a simple Google search.
If Anambra government taxes just 1% of these transaction, it'll generate $30 million annually, which is approximately 21 billion naira.
If government taxes 5%, it'll generate 105 billion from the market alone.
But Anambra has 48 markets.
So, trade and commerce in Anambra can generate more than Ogun IGR.
If you are underrating trade, then look at the evidence below.
Trade is the third largest component of Nigerian GDP, far ahead of manufacturing But you run the European countries embassies with your cap in hand to seek for visa approval because you want to japa. Those countries will roast you alive if you dare refuse to pay your tax. They know the value of tax, hence they don't joke with it. You are praising your governors for not taking tax serious and you still blame them for not developing your states. If lagos were to be a tax haven like anambra, your brothers and sisters will not going to lagos in their thousands every day to Hustle. |
Politics › Re: List 5 Advantages Of Living In Nigeria by Godfullsam(m): 9:43am On Nov 28, 2023 |
If you have money, you can eat your cake and still have it.
Your money can earn you almost anything you want.
Money matters a whole lot here in Nigeria.
In Nigeria, poverty is a criminal offense. If you don't have money you automatically becomes a crime suspect. In some advanced countries, the system indirectly places some kind of limitation to the amount of wealth you can acquire. In Nigeria, you can acquire any kind of wealth. You can even buy up a whole community if you have the means.
I think that is the advantage of living in Nigeria. |
