Facebook has repeatedly said it doesn't plan to split Instagram and WhatsApp away from the worlds largest social network. The company has argued that doing so wouldn't hold it more accountable for its privacy mishaps and other woes. Instead, Zuckerberg has called for more internet regulation around harmful content, election integrity, privacy and data portability. The company is also working on a way to make it possible for Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram users to send messages to one another without switching apps.

Facebook didn't immediately have a comment about Hawleys meeting with Zuckerberg.

Facebook has repeatedly been confronted by calls, including from one of its own co-founders, to split Instagram and WhatsApp off from the social network. But it seems the chances of that happening keep getting slimmer.

US Senator Josh Hawley, a Missouri Republican, said Thursday in a tweet that he met with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and asked the tech mogul to sell Instagram and WhatsApp. Not surprisingly, Zuckerberg shot down the idea.

Hawley, one of Facebooks toughest critics, is among the several US lawmakers from both parties whove been rubbing shoulders with Zuckerberg this week.

Its Zuckerbergs first known visit to Washington, DC, since April 2018 when he testified before lawmakers in the wake of a major privacy scandal. Cambridge Analytica, a UK political consultancy, harvested the data of up to 87 million Facebook users without their permission. The popular musician told the thousands of young people gathered about the evils of the media, as well as instructing them to tell Satan, "Your time is up!"

Kanye West has, in recent times, presided over his own Sunday Services, which have attracted his fans in the thousands. In a series of tweets, Soy said they are currently being held at the Kenyatta International Convection Centre (KICC) Police station.


MS Soy narrated that she had attended a Homes Expo at KICC with her kids and while on their way out, she questioned why the security officers were checking bags as they left. The officers then said that they were looking for stolen laptops.


The journalist then insisted that she paid to attend the expo and there is no way she would have stolen anything, but before she knew it she was arrested with the kids.

James Ibori , a former governor of Nigeria’s Delta State, served a prison sentence in Britain after admitting to plundering $79m from the public purse . His lawyers have managed to frustrate efforts to repatriate most of the funds frozen in his British bank accounts.

The Economist magazine has said that an estimated $600bn is believed to have been stolen from Nigeria since its Independence in 1960.

Light- fingered tyrants are looking back wistfully . In past decades they could stash their illicit wealth in the West . Friendly lawyers , banks and middlemen were on hand to park the loot.



Sani Abacha, the military dictator who ran Nigeria in the 1990 s , deposited billions of dollars in banks across the rich world , no questions asked. Western governments often seemed equally unfussed.



Such brazenness is becoming a bit harder to get away with . Anti-corruption campaigners and muckraking journalists have busied themselves trying to uncover stolen assets . Western governments , tired of seeing aid money stolen , have toughened up money-laundering and bribery laws.



Yet so much has been pilfered from Africa that tracking it all is tricky . Chatham House, a British think- tank, estimates that $582 bn has been stolen from Nigeria alone since it won independence in 1960.



Britain ’s International Corruption Unit says its investigations have led to the confiscation of £76 m ( $117m ) in laundered loot since 2006 . Another £791m has been frozen worldwide thanks to its work.



Yet, that barely makes a dent in the £100 bn of illicit funds which Steve Goodrich at Transparency International , a watchdog , reckons enters Britain every year.



“ Seizures are still the exception, ” says Jason Sharman , an expert in international corruption at Cambridge University . “ Dirty money still gets through most of the time. ”



The best way to hide and move stolen wealth is to set up a raft of anonymous shell companies and bank accounts. The EU is trying to make this sort of thing harder by forcing member states to publish registers disclosing the beneficial owners of companies.



Britain has introduced another innovation . Unexplained Wealth Orders allow courts to order “ politically exposed persons” to explain why their assets are so much larger than their salaries back home. The first was issued last year.



Yet, tough laws do not work unless everyone imposes them. “ If there is a gap , then the money -launderers will find it, ” says Max Heywood , Transparency International’ s global advocacy co- ordinator.



Willing and effective implementation is vital. Some surprising places, such as Switzerland and Jersey , have grown more robust in this regard. But America leads the way.



The Kleptocracy Asset Recovery Initiative at the Department of Justice has seized stolen loot not just in America, but abroad. “ The US is aggressive in enforcement, ” says Matthew Axelrod , a former Department of Justice official now at Linklaters , a law firm. “ Penalties are very high and prosecutors are insulated from political interference . ”

Europe lags behind . Its law -enforcement agencies are often under-resourced . Investigators struggle when dirty money is held in several countries. Britain has spearheaded the International Anti- corruption Co -ordination Centre , created in 2017. Its head , Rupert Broad , says pooling intelligence has led to the arrest of five senior officials in four African states.

They studied hard, did their assignments on time, passed their continuous assessment tests by reading hard, and conducting relevant research, using books in the library.

Reality star Kim Kardashian West was a guest on “The View” Thursday where she spoke about her husband's religious beliefs and revealed that he sometimes hosts pop-up churches around the country through his music ministry, Sunday Service.
