Fassy Yusuf, a lecturer at the University of Lagos, has asked Precious Okhimamhe, a social media user, to provide evidence of sex-for-grades allegation she levelled against him.

In the heat of a BBC documentary exposing randy lecturers at the University of Lagos, many had taken to Twitter to share their experiences.

Tweeting via the handle @pretyprexy, Ohkimamhe had said a friend of hers listed Yusuf as a randy lecturer.

“A friend of mine who graduated from Unilag just told me some names. Dr Fassy Yusuf ... Your time is coming. #SexForGrades,’” she had written in the tweet which went viral.

But in a letter dated October 9, Yusuf gave Okhimamhe seven days to prove this allegation of face legal action.

“In the last forty or so hours, I have been inundated with phone calls, messages and visits in respect to a libellous, scandalous and disparaging statement you posted on your Twitter handle on Monday, 07 October 2019 at about 1.13p.m and circulated globally,” the letter read.

“As a lawyer, a former public officer, a notary public, a justice of the peace, a community and religious leader, an international scholar and professional, a newspaper columnist, a social crusader, a businessman, among others, your reckless, irresponsible, disconcerting, scandalous and libellous post has lowered and continues to lower my person in the estimation of right-thinking members of the society, especially among my clients, friends, colleagues, associates mentees and students; has caused and is causing me to be shunned, and avoided; and it has exposed and continues to expose me to odium, hatred, contempt and ridicule. Indeed, your false statement cum post has conveyed an imputation on me, disparaged and injured me in my office, profession, calling, business, etc.

“Elementary law requires that “he/she who asserts, must prove”; the onus is therefore, on you to prove and justify the libel against me.

“Consequently, I HEREBY GIVE YOU SEVEN (7) DAYS’ NOTICE TO PROVE AND OR JUSTIFY YOUR LIBEL against me failing which I shall be constrained to institute legal action for the purposes of making you face the consequences of your irresponsible action, restoring my dignity, and claiming damages thereof.”

Okhimamhe, however, has taken down the tweet.

Boniface Igebeneghu and Samuel Oladipo, two of the lecturers indicted in the BBC documentary have been suspended while UNILAG has set up a panel to probe their actions.

In the video documentary, Igbeneghu narrated how he and some of his colleagues patronise the UNILAG Staff club “cold room” to commit several sexual atrocities with female students.

A final year student of the faculty, who requested anonymity, told TheCable that the documentary was shocking to most students who knew the lecturer.

She described Igbeneghu as a godly, jovial and a wonderful man.

“I had my first encounter with him at a Muslim fellowship when I was in year two. He was a sub-dean of the faculty of art. The man is very jovial; he plays a lot,” she said.

“It would have been really easy for UNILAG to deny this if there was no video tape because no one could ever think the man could do such. This is a clear case of green snake under the green grass. “When I saw the premiere, I thought it would be lecturers from Philosophy, English but for him, shocking is an understatement.”

The student said Igbeneghu made himself accessible to students, narrating how one of her friends who has graduated spoke highly of him.

“I have met him countless times and he is always smiling. He is always like ‘God will bless you’. Most times when I see him, he is always praying for students ‘God bless you’. He is just a very calm man,” she said.

“When he was the sub-dean, my roommate then attended the same church with this man and she told me that they have a Foursquare fellowship on campus that the man also attends. She speaks highly of the man but she has graduated now.

“If you greet him, he would respond ‘God bless you’.”

A Political Science lecturer at the University of Ghana (UG), Professor Ransford Gyampo has threatened to initiate a legal action against the BBC over its "Sex for grades" documentary which mentions him [Gyampo] as one of the lecturers who offer grades to students in exchange for sex.
In a radio interview with Accra based Citi FM on Monday, Professor Gyampo denied abusing his power to make sexual advances towards students

Professor Gyampo was allegedly implicated in the “sex for grades” investigations carried out by BBC Africa Eye.

"You've also seen the video, have you seen anything called sex for grades [in the video]. How can you engage in so-called sex for grade relationship with somebody who is not a student in the first place..., I didn’t see anything like that [in the video] and I have not done anything like that,” he said in the radio interview with Citi FM.

Professor Gyampo, who is also the Head of European Studies at the university, according to the BBC report allegedly requested to marry one of the BBC reporters who posed as a student seeking academic favours.

In excerpts of the video released on BBC Somalia’s Facebook page, Professor Gyampo persuaded the reporter to meet him at the mall where he was caught on camera making “numerous [alleged] inappropriate demands.”

In the report, he also allegedly requested to kiss the reporter.

Professor told Citi FM that the video was aimed at tarnishing his image.

He said he will take legal action against the BBC.

To Hon. Barr. (Evang.) Princess Pat. A. Ajudua, it is a crime to bring the attention of the government to the dilapidated state of infrastructure and the need to maintain or build new ones without the fear of losing your job as this is considered as exposing the lapses of the government.


This action has led to the sack of her media aide, following a post he made on the social media drawing the attention of the Delta State government to the dilapidated state of Ibusa Girls Grammar School located in Umueze/Okponta, Ibusa and the need for urgent repairs.


The media aide who posted a video on Facebook of female secondary school students receiving lectures in a classroom while been drenched by the rain.


Shockingly, the lawmaker who represents Oshimili North LGA in the Delta State House of Assembly and also an evangelist who is said to run a church in Asaba and Ibusa, showing no iota of remorse for the inhumane condition in which the students receive lectures, immediately summoned the media aide to her office and lashed out on him, after which she relieved him of his duty describing her actions as “exposing the lapses of the government”.


“I was at the House of Assembly complex to see Princess and she began to vibrate as to why I would make such post. I even told her that the post wasn’t against her but that didn’t go down well with her. She said I was exposing the lapses of the state government” the media aide lamented.


It was gathered that the school which is under the constituency represented by the lawmaker who has spent over twelve years in the State’s House of Assembly with nothing to show for it, could be likened to a poultry farm with overgrown weed and buildings looking like they have been in existence for more than five decades begging for immediate rehabilitation.
