This is not the conversation but didn’t Ukrainians stop Nigerians from fleeing by blocking access to transportation. Both men, women and children. If the roles were reversed, Nigerians would not be given priority, Africans would not even be considered so let’s not even start this conversation.

And then where you said that students are expected to leave after study, no they are not. They are expected to find work, that is the whole point of the PSW Visa. They expect skilled students to fill up roles in high demand. And that is why they also keep introducing new migrant visas. 70% of the technical guys in my company are foreigners with strong accents and not Brits.

These legislators are not fooling anyone, they very much want our money that’s why they want Phd students to still bring in their dependants. Do you know how much Phd costs per year? Top that with the IHS fees you keep downplaying.

This conversation triggers me because I came in here as a dependant. I understand that it’s their country and their rules but like people have rightly said, they cannot eat their cake and have it and for another poster to call us entitled is downright silly, after all, they cajoled us into coming here by loosening their policies. If they want to tighten their laws, by all means they should. But us being resistant to it is valid and not entitled.
@bolded BIGGEST FACT in the whole wide world!

I weak. Its simple maths.. you brought in 100k people to your home, they pay £1 each, you brought another 200k people who pays £0. Now, you're complaining that the 100k are the ones causing economic issue. UK should go and sit down somewhere
It’s all discrimination and bias profiling.

Could this be because the Nigerian men were struggling for spaces on trains and buses with Ukrainian women and children? There were hardly any Ukrainian men between 18 and 60 fleeing Ukraine except those that were disabled. Of course the women and children will be prioritised over able bodied black men.
We’re they not all running for their lives? Why are we making excuses for other nationalities when it borders on humanity but look away when it concerns Nigerians. You expect Nigerians to remain in a war zone when they are not citizens of that nation. were some not international students? Haba

I am not, I graduated a long-ish time ago.

You expect refugees to pay their way into a safe country ? And if they are not able to pay their way, you expect them to give way to fee paying students?

Besides, did you know that most Ukrainian refugees claim they would love to return home to rebuild as soon as it's safe to do so?
So the gov is not expecting most of them to remain here forever.
Many Nigerians will not remain in the uk too, for so many the Uk is a transition point. Many will not get work visas so they can’t stay and from statistics Nigerians have much less overstayers compared to other nationalities. A lot will surely return home or relocate elsewhere.

Bringing nothing? Literally running for their lives is less important than a master's degree?

If roles were reversed and Nigerians were fleeing war and disaster, would you be happy if Canada said oh sorry you have to wait, we have to process the visas of these other guys first because $15k for a master's course is no joke you know. God will help you while you wait 🙏
Let’s stop being political bro, Nigerians fleeing ukraine were held back while others were let go, it has happened also in Sudan so it’s nothing new at all or were those ones not running for their lives too

@Goke7 I usually agree with you on most subjects but this is a bit harsh! People that are escaping a war zone through no fault of theirs should not be prioritised? Haba!
no apologies for being harsh, we are also being treated too harshly, humanity should be applied to all. Hope you were also aware that Nigerians escaping that war were also held back from leaving the same war zone

Its all nonsense like i said before, let me make this clear just in case anybody misunderstood my stand on this..

I'm not against any govt controlling immigration and making sure that the system is not abused. That said... These politicians are worst than people smugglers, no shame, just about the money.

These Nigerians who are on the news for all wrong reasons did not commit any crime, they followed law to the end. They paid for every resource they are using.

Last year the UK govt allowed 163,500 Ukraines to move to the UK and provided accommodation and jobs for them all paid for by tax payers.

In 2021 they allowed 21,387 people from Afghanistan to move here to settle all paid for by tax payer

Ukraines and Afghans did not pay a penny into the system but Nigerians who paid their way here are being humanised .

They should change the immigration law quietly without blaming Nigerians for their incompetence and greediness
We are unnecessarily being profiled and it's all wrong, when I knew It was all a joke was when Student visa processing last year was delayed for more attention to be paid to the Ukrainian refugees as in those bringing money into the country were being held back for those bringing nothing, chai we don suffer

It depends on the angle it's being viewed from. You may see it differently, but personally, I think it's wrong and sounds 'castigating' to say people are using the student route to migrate through the backdoor. This is the narrative being pushed by the Suella Braverman-led HO and it's being bought by many people.
don't mind them and it's pretty annoying seeing Nigerian apologists who keep pushing stupid narratives like this, is the student route not more dignifying than those coming via boats through the channel?

Shut your borders to all if you don't want people to come instead of whining about challenges that can easily be fixed if the funds from these visas have not been adequately utilised. It's never the problem of the immigrants; never. This hit-and-run system of the Brits is too primitive for a so-called first-world nation. It doesn't make sense. Population in any nation of opportunities will increase as people will naturally gravitate towards it. If you don't want immigrants, then shut your borders and stop complaining of skill shortages, it's that simple

The UK can tighten its laws in whatever they like but to demonise people using the education route to migrate is a joke. All over the world, people use the education route to migrate especially if they are highly skilled. If the Uk wants to be sincere, they should give us the data of dependents that now have high-skill jobs and it will be shocking what the data will reveal.

The conservatives are desperate to remain in power and I don't have a problem with that but to continue to profile Nigerians deliberately is hypocritical, yes our people are foolish but for the sake of many hardworking Nigerians especially the highly skilled ones, we don't deserve all these insults.

They could aim to improve their ranking and offer better quality degrees.

There is an argument that some of these institutions are not "real" universities - a number were originally polytechnics before being upgraded by Blair whose vision was to make university accessible to all -and that it would not be a great loss if a few had to close down , or cut down their chancellors' fat salaries.
Historically, all over the world, many universities were upgraded from mere colleges and polytechnics, there is no crime anywhere in the world for that, and ranking most times is not a true reflection of the quality and no matter how these schools improve, some will be at the top of the rank and others below cos positions of ranking must be occupied no matter the level of quality. The real question is should these universities be wiped out to create more economic woes? is UK ready for such risk?

Hi good people.

I wanted to run this by the house. We recently switched from our TIER 4 visa to PSW as a family. My spouse and I got our new BRP.

I wanted to generate the share code for the right to work, after imputing the new number of my new BRP in the UK. gov site it said it doesn't match. Same for my wife.

But I then tried the old BRP number on my former TIER 4 dependent BRP. It worked and generated the share code. Showing my current visa status.
Same for my wife.

Is this normal?

For every new BRP, there is always a new number, right?
Because the number on the expired BRP is different from the one on the new BRP.
But it's the number on the expired BRP that is giving me the share code.

Should I contact UKVI
it is normal, what you need to do is to update your ukvi account with the new brp number as the new login details

If it wasn't Suella, it would be someone else. Suella is actually very tame compared to the then home sec Theresa May.

The Tory party is traditionally low tax and low immigration and many in their party, and most of their base, are angry that they seem to have lost their roots and have become the party of high tax and record breaking immigration.

The populace don't mind students because they believe they are only here for a short time and acknowledge that they are a massive boost to the economy, they especially welcome those who are highly skilled and attend top universities. What the public don't like is students in so called "low value schools/ degrees" and what they see as back door chain migration.
so how will the low-value schools survive and contribute to the local economy, just how or do they want massive loss of jobs and poor economy especially in the small towns and cities whose economy are driven by these universities

I think we know the candidate that plays to emotions with Yoruba lo kan ethnic chants and Yoruba ronu nonsense.

I repeat, the cases for inec and tinubu are different.

Tinubu is being sued on a number of factors including his eligibility to run for office according to the constitution as a result of his past dealings.

That has little to do with inec. It's not the job of inec to screen candidates.
That is the job of the dss.

Though shettima is being sued for double candidacy, which I guess draws inec into the same boat.

But mostly, Inec is being sued for their failure to transmit results electronically right from the polling unit and many other irregularities.

It should defend itself and let tinubu defend himself.

Are they going to defend tinubu from his drug pasts or his foreign citizenship?
so what's your point? Obi said he was challenging the process and who's in charge of the process. Are you guys confused or what?
