North is economically viable than west.

Remove federal government presence in Lagos and watch it crumble.

That's why they always fight hard to protect it.
another dumb post, Lagos seized to be federal capital since 1991 so where is the federal presence?

Why should we leave a place we want to conquer? For once we might have to collabo with the Hausa/Fulani to get the job done, while the Fulani are killing your people in places like Ogun, Osun etc... our own focus is on taking over Lagos economically by any means possible.
You cannot conquer our heritage as you guys are a conquered entity yourself, go back and build your region and stop acting like spoilt brats who want ready-made all the time, so with all the hardworking you guys profess to have, its always to covet other people's stuff you are always after. You guys don't have an identity, sorry

Bros we've been hearing this assurance abi threat since 1900, when the the Odua race finally realize nobody is buying your sh*t anymore? You're the one holding the nation my left asscheek. Go to South South especially Port Harcourt and see how your brothers are criminalizing themselves with forgery and tribalism in the oil companies there, until the natives taught you idiots that you can't play your "Yoruba Yoruba" dirty and nepotistic nonsense of sneaking your brothers into top positions. You're the glue that holds the nation together yet your political destiny lies in the hands of a Fulani slave, I'm talking about the Tinubu. Have you seen how your brothers shamelessly back and cheer on the North on social media whenever any talk of secession is initiated by Igbos and other South South folks? You know your region benefits so much from the oil proceeds coming from the Niger Delta, that's how Lagos primarily became the mega city that it is today... that's why your lawmakers won't dare push for independent Yorubanza nation. What happened in the last national conference under GEJ? which regions lawmakers frustrated every move or notion for constitutional adjustments made to that effect? your people.

Listen to delusional Arrow, you had your chances at secession in 1967 when the foundation was at its weakest... But Awolowo sacrificed the freedom of his people because Gowon offered him a juicy position in his government, so that ship sailed a long time ago. NOW WE MUST ENJOY THESE ONE NIGERIA TOGETHER, more Igbos will flood your region and be a nuisance till you all drop dead from frustration, Hausas are already teaching you bastards a lesson in Lagos, try nonsense with then and they rampage through Lagos killing any Yoruba pig they see. If your people try any means to secede from Nigeria (whether through diplomatic manouvres or by force), you shall be ruthlessly crushed. We shall continue to feed off the wealth of your region and siphon the largesse from Lagos and other places back to the East
Hey guys, here comes the true agenda of the igbos, wish our elites and politicians can see this?

This is also an evidence that all the statistics they normally show on nairaland to prove that they are doing well more than the SW are all lies as there is finally and admittance that they need us to survive or else they are doomed.

My guy, if the SW wants to leave Nigeria, nothing I mean nothing can stop us, una go beg us with Presidency and all other freebies tire to change our mind which we will not. grin

Well, a Yoruba nation would not be a bad idea. I will support it wholeheartedly cos I wouldn't even want to be in a new country with the Yorubas. Igbos will not want you and u guys will never want to join Hausa fulanis.

Your best bet will be a country of your own.

Anyway, why don't u guys talk or promote seccession? You guys act as if you are enjoying this one Nigeria. Sometimes you even unity-beg. What is it that u guys are not telling?
igbos that has refused to leave the SW, mark my words, na dem go rush our citizenship pass anybody. We don't need to promote secession, anytime it happens we are most ready but others who claim they are ready are just lying and using it as a blackmail to get more from the so called country they loathe.

Normally I would have stopped engaging him on this thread. Because it’s now getting irritating.

But the Yorubas have to also behave troublesome in this type of game. You don’t engage an Igbo man by trying to be calm and following protocol. No you can’t!!

What they always do is lie continuously with the hope that it will be remembered as the truth.

Now we will all go to extra length to debunk the lies even if we have to debunk the same thing a thousand times.

That’s how to deal with them.
the problem is the yorubas among us trying to always look nationalistic in their views and opinions, I used to be the one until I discovered the true agenda of the igbos. This is the issue with most of our Yoruba politicians, always trying to be nationalistic for their personal gains, meanwhile no single igbo politician or elite give a damn about the rest of Nigeria. This is why Awolowo will continue to be hated by the igbos cos he understood the game well. Tinubu is just gradually waking up after making some errors [especially as former governor] that has given these fellows too much mouth to continue to disparage the yorubas. It's left for yoruba elite class to adjust their focus and stop trying to form mr nice to the igbos when in turn, they wish Lagos and all other SW cities and the yorubas at large the worst of the worst. Am not deceived at all.

Where did I ever say the SMEs were the ones who made Lagos what they are?
I said the SMEs support and give income to the majority of Lagosians! And it is with this income that Lagosians patronize the big industries in their midst.

Are the big industries the ones patronizing themselves?

Without the large population of consumers in Lagos, do u think some of these industries would cite their factories in Lagos? Or don't u know that nearness to market is one of the major factors considered in the citing of an industry?

Without the SMEs there would be no large consumer population in Lagos, without the Large consumer population, there would be no much industries in Lagos. As simple as ABC.

Imagine, bloody Igbos calling others dirty, there is no market they inhabit in Yorubaland that is not dirty. They rant all day of how Lagos is a slum, yet buses heading for Lagos won't stop loading from their villages. Bloody vagabonds
omo they wreck festac no be small just because it was under the purview of FG.

The igbos need the SW more, despite am yoruba, iserved in osun and i know how the igbo corpers confess to some of us yorubas in secret how food and so many other things were more accessible and affordable than their home towns, so many of them stayed back in osogbo for that matter till today. I met a guy then as far back as 2006 when i served who had been living in osogbo 10 years after he served doing computer business and even married a yoruba girl. Kano is a very very big trading center.
Ibadan cannot match the volume of trade in Kano.
Kano has the biggest markets for Jewelleries, Textiles & fabric materials, Livestocks, Foodstuffs, Hides & skins among others in Nigeria.

Kano also has so many industries, but Ibadan will slightly edge it here.

Hausa fulanis are the 2nd most enterprising people in Nigeria after Igbos.

Do u know that Kano had been a cosmopolitan city even before the arrival of colonialists? Do u know the numbers of Arab, Egyptian, Tuareg, Berber and even Persian traders who lived in and visited Kano before colonial rule?

Ibadan only began to shine during colonial rule. So your talk of 1880s is a far lie.
Can u prove it?

I have the book on NORTHERN PROVINCES, TRIBES AND EMIRATES compiled by colonialists in 1910 and you can see the numbers of Arabs and other foreigners in their thousands who lived in Kano by that time.

Make una Yoruba take style dey lie oo!

Although as someone who dislikes Hausa fulanis, I am not interested in hyping anything about them or defending them.
Unfortunately, the mugu Abokkis we have here on nairaland like Naajji & DanArrewa do not even know anything about their so called North. They are empty heads.

Do u know that almost every family in Lagos or urban southern Nigeria has at least someone who owns a business?

From boutique owners to Saloon owners, Cybercafes, Restaurants, Betting shops, Foodstuff shops & provision stores which you have 20 on every street, Spare part sellers, Phone accessories, Phone & recharge card sellers, small scale manufacturers like Sachet & bottled water & snacks like chips/popcorn, nylon/polythene manufacturers, tailors & fashion designers, butchers, beauticians, livestock rearers, road transporters, mechanics, vulcanizers, computer schools & centers, private education sector, market wholesalers & distributors, importers, food transporters e.t.c

Down to the lowest of the society like Head hawkers, Wheelbarrow hawkers, Roadside food & snacks preparers like Akara, Mama put, Wheelbarrow & truckpushers and all manners.

Can every family in Lagos have someone who is employed by the big industries in Lagos? But bros, not one family in Lagos will say they don't have someone involved in the SMEs!
In some families, everyone survives on SMEs. The father could be a driver, the mother has a restaurant, the first son is a Barber with a saloon and the daughter is selling recharge card.

You are saying there won't be unemployment in Lagos if SMEs were helpful? Take away SMEs from Lagos and see if we will not have the largest urban humanitarian crisis in the world.

Sometimes, you guys must not tell lies in a bid to defend your ethnic group....

How can any sane or rational Nigerian say that the big Industries employ more people than the SMEs?

Bro, let me tell you something you don't know. The greatest asset of the Yoruba nation is the intellectual resources. That is why we are better and why we will excel in any endeavor we find ourselves in.

How do countries get the food they don't produce? They import!

Even the Agriculture that the North always shout that they own. I was going through the NBS statistics of Nigeria Agriculture exports for Q3 2019 and you can see that the SW is a region to beat. We are part of the zone that contibute to the Agric export as evident in the cocoa and even certain shares of Cashew nuts.

What is Agriculture without Agri-economics? What is hardwork without brain power? Those are what distinguishes the middle-belt and the Yorubas.

Source:NBS
This is what the igbos and others in Nigeria continue to debate and still lag behind the SW in this

So you truly believe that in Lagos State, the Industries employ more people than the SMEs?
do you know how many industries are in Lagos, there are industries in Lagos people don't know about but they employ thousands at a go. SMEs no get mouth for Lagos and that's the hidden secret of Lagos. The Maritime Industry in Lagos alone employs a very large pool that thousands of SMEs together cannot match. We never talk of FMCG that will swallow what ever number the SMEs have.

if SMEs in Lagos are really employing, the unemployment rate in Lagos will go down very quickly, The only SMEs in Lagos that are trying are private schools that employ teachers and other auxiliary staff like bus drivers and care givers ; they are the ones helping matters.

Hei God. Yes, Kano city is a big cosmopolitan city, but you cannot compare it to a Southern/Middlebelt city of similar size due to the culture and nature of the people there!!

No part of Hausa land has majority of it's people educated. Or do u want to argue on this fact now?
How else do u want Kano to be different? Yes, there are settlers in Kano, but what percentage of the population are these settlers compared to the Hausa fulanis?

What is the literacy rate of Kano? What is the percentage of middle-class citizens there?

Can you compare the more educated and middle-class citizens of a place like PH, their purchasing power and consumption taste of varieties with that of a place like Kano city where almajiris alone make up 25% of the city's population?
Or do u think Kano is just the central developed area alone?
what a contradiction, you agree Kano is cosmopolitan and you say majority are illiterates. Your definition of illiteracy is the problem. A city that has such massive volume of trade, the largest in the north cannot be term as a city that has majority of illiterates, never never. Illiterates plenty for Lagos too o

Lagos State is one state that does not play with taxes and we all know this.

80% of Lagos State population depends on the SME sector for survival. If not for this sector that gives them income, do you think they will have any money to be able to patronize the products of these big industries?

Will all these big industries not pack up without patronage? Can the industries patronize themselves? Let's be honest and factual.
SMEs don't make Lagos, Industries do my dear, how may employees these SMEs employ and how much do these EMEs employees earn for Lagos to make huge revenue from their personal income taxes?

The bigger industries employees with huge salaries are the ones with enough disposable income to afford what the industries produce
