Best DM in Epl base on form Ndidi nearly made the worst Premier league 11 of the season by football365. He's the most dribbled past midfielder in the Premiership. CENTRAL MIDFIELDER: Yohan Cabaye (Crystal Palace) Criteria: Dribbled past, tackles It won’t be surprising to anyone to see a couple of Crystal Palace players in this XI. In fact, if this wasn’t based on statistics then a case could be made for a few more to join Cabaye and Jeffrey Schlupp on this list. Only Wilfred Ndidi (2.7) has been dribbled past more times per game than Cabaye (2.2) this campaign. However, it is his shocking tackle statistics that edge the France international into the team – and we aren’t talking about his awful challenge on DeAndre Yedlin over the weekend. Ndidi has been let off by the fact he has completed 4.3 tackles per match in comparison to Cabaye’s woeful figure of 1.7. The stats are all the more surprising as Cabaye is seen as a player who will ‘get stuck in’. What Ndidi has going for him is his high tackle success rate. Even at Genk, he had one of the highest tackle success rate in the Europa league. He's generally developing an odd reputation as a tackling machine. |

komekn: In all honesty it is IMPOSSIBLE TO PREDICT.
Where you start is irrelevant sometimes it is how you progress.
If Dele Alli had gone to Arsenal or Tottenham he would not have progressed the same way. He may not have progressed at all.
He went to lowly MK Dons and was the stand out player in the entire division. Jordan Ibe was released from Charlton Athletic at age 12 or thereabouts went to Wycombe Wanderers a supposed step down at 15 played first team and Liverpool bought him for £1 million pounds at 16.
I know a player that was transported from North America to Liverpool Fc. A whole family package house, school everything arranged and money spent. One year later he was released for nothing.
What I am saying it's possible that Nwakali could go to Arsenal and completely flop or blow. He could get injured or find he is not good enough. Consider top players from La Liga and other leagues have flopped in the EPL. Nothing absolutely nothing is guaranteed.
Francisco Junior left Portugal as a top player from Benfica. City wanted him the cream of the EPL he chose a blood and guts team that doesn't play good technical football in the name of Everton.
Yes, he signed a long contract near 4 years at the time getting paid almost £10k a week from peanuts at Benfica. Well he didn't make it he is now playing in the backwaters of the Nordic leagues.
The flip side is when you go for the top clubs you can find yourself dropping like lead all the way to the bottom in non league.
But we haven't heard the last of Fred Onyedinma it just takes him to get one break with a good technically forward thinking manager and he can just blow. He could become bigger than Iwobi that's football.
Kienan Davis (19 years old) Aston Villa was playing non league after being released by Stevenage if I'm right at 16. He was told he was rubbish. From non league he has come into Villa and benched Million ££ players. Now Everton and Man U are looking for him.
My dream for Nigeria is to set up a proper scouting network in England and from non league to EPL look for the best players. Because the vast pool of available Nigeria origin players in the UK is unparalleled outside of Nigeria. Players not on the radar of the English FA. I can assure you there are other Tega Abrahams that have not been unearthed. Ademola Lookman came from Sunday football just over three years ago.
However, because of our nature and the vast number of players subjective selection has to be ruled out. A clear cut balance score card merit system used to select players based on performance and ability. Which in itself is intrinsically linked to the quality of league and club you are playing in.
That's why you might score 30 goals in Turkey but struggle badly in La Liga, EPL and the Bundesliga but struggle to score 5 in a better league. Fred Onyema made an error in decision to stay put at Millwall, that is if he really had good offers from decent premiership clubs. His decision to stay put in Millwall could be akin to playing Russian roulette. There's no guarantee that he will rip the league apart. Even if he became big in League one, nothing guarantees that he could get a look in by Premiership teams. The big boys hardly go fishing in league one bar a couple or exceptions. The step up from league one/ championship to the Premiership is too high for most players to come to terms with. Anthony Knockert, the championship player of the season have been struggling to adapt to life in the Premiership. On your last paragraph, I think league comparison with respect to goals scored can be relative. Football is not mathematics. A player can score 20+goals in the Premiership but struggle to scored 10 in Turkey. Robin Van Persie scored 30 for Man Utd but hardly got 10 for Fenerbache. |

Orkpekyandega: How far have you gone about your article on how to raise revenue for football development inNigeria? The idea is there, the framework ready. However, the most challenging part of the project is data collection. Its unfortunate we aren't good book keepers in this part of the world. I believe I will find a way around this challenge very soon. The final part of the journey will be to get an audience with the minister of Sports. I've made a step towards that and promises have been made. The second quarter of 2018 will be a realistic time for everything to come together, hopefully. |

komekn: Dele Alli left league 1, MK Dons straight to the premiership at only 19 and with top speed to the England senior team. Gomez at Liverpool left Charlton Athletic (league 1) straight to Liverpool first team at age 18, Ademola Lookman left Charlton Athletic straight to Everton first team. Calvert Lewin left Sheffield United straight too Everton first team. Why because they were outstanding players in those leagues. I could go on and on.
Fred Onyedinma at the tender age of 17 was awarded MOTM in the championship with Millwall. At this stage Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and Man U, were all trying to sign him. His agents and Millwall messed up the transfer. Otherwise he would be in the EPL and his development would have taken a different trajectory. He currently is in the Championship with Millwall rejecting moves to other EPL clubs in favour of staying. See below links to substantiate my claims as not just my opinion.

I never ever reduced the standard but when a player proves his pedigree. As we say when small pikin wash hand, he go follow king chop.
When Tega had his first few weeks in the championship if we had invited him to the SE. Would we be having all this talk about him insulting Nigeria. We jumped on the bandwagon after he had blown up.
It's obvious you haven't watched Fred Onyedinma play. Watch his game in the FA cup against Tottenham and you go change mind.
I will talk of a Ghanaian origin player Tariq Ofosu, watched him as a teenager when Hope Akpan was at Reading Fc in the EPL then. I immediately pencilled him as outstanding quality. Unfortunately he was sidelined and other players pushed ahead it's football politics. He is now in Charlton watch what happens in the next few months.
You can be in a lower league and stand out or just get lost. It's actually very difficult to play technically proficient football in a predominantly blood and guts, kick and rush league. But when you do you know it's a quality player you are seeing. It's easy to look good when you have top quality players around you.
Finally, Fred Onyedinma was born in Nigeria and played in the same local team as Iwobi. If he had chosen Arsenal maybe his development would have been different. Success is determined by alot of factors. Opportunity, luck or devine breakthrough like se will say. You have eloquently narrated how Fred Onyema would have signed for Arsenal but somehow fate have him stuck in Millwall. This is exactly what some guys here have been trying to explain to you why Awoniyi found himself hawked around Belgium and Holland instead of developing at Liverpool. This is exactly the same reason why Nwakali is at Venlo instead of Arsenal. I personally feel Obinna Nwobodo would have been one of the most highly rated youngsters if he was born in Europe. |

Mujtahida: I followed your discussion with him. The point- and he emphasised this - is that it's no disrespect to analyse a players performance. and for me it's not about hat tricks or about MOTM. It's about consistent quality performance. He was comparing Egwuekwe with Otigba. The tone in his comparison was quite derogatory to Egwuekwe. No disrespect to Otigba, but Its not like Egwuekwe was being compared to Cannavaro. It was a witch hunt not analysis. |

tbaba1234: Let's say a player is invited based on potential. At some point, it has got to register that he does not cut it at senior level yet. For many, it was confusing to see Oduamadi playing so many games when he was not at that level. Funny enough, this was the exact same thing I said about Ekong. He was a joke player when he first got invites to the Super Eagles. He was very bad at ball distribution (still suck at that), swings wildly at crosses like a drunk and generally very incompetent for this level. It's a small miracle he is as good as he is now. Football managers are not wizards. They are humans like everybody else. This is why fair chances should be given to everyone. You never can tell where the next gem could come from. |

Mujtahida: So because of the hat trick Oduamadi should continue in the team? Mba scored the goal that won for us our third nations cup. Where's Mba today. Football is a performance sport, it's results driven. It's not like our politics where for purposes of political patronage and settlement people are compensated/rewarded with juicy appointments and they go seat there and do nada. In football you are 'compensated' too but your performance this round, guarantees your 'compensation' next round. It's a law: you must perform. You don't, you get kicked out. You probably haven't been following my small talk with tbaba1234. The anchor point of my argument is that every player deserves respect in their own right. If we take stock, you will realise that most players fans usually have a go at have somewhat justified their inclusion in the team. Obviously not every player, but you get my drift. Infact, the much maligned Paul Onobi won man of the match award in an AFCON qualifier game played in Port Harcourt. |

Chrismario: Highly rated then abi now? The guy just fall hand 100%. Federico macheda twin bro Macheda got an Italian call up when he burst through the scene. Players get called up if the national team managers think they have potentials. Nnamdi Oduamadi didn't get a call up for doing nothing at the time. He was very close to the AC Milan first team just like we have the right back at Roma now. |

tbaba1234: Tammy has dual citizenship and can decide either way.
Oduamadi was once rated highly as a youngster but he did not improve. There was no strong reasons for an invitation to the senior team. He had not shown any thing of note at senior level. It is like saying Solanke should be invited to the England senior team based on his youth performances. Two different levels. I guess this is the point we dilly dally on when best it is to call up a player. Do we wait till the player have blown? Or do we invite them over and integrate them early if they have the potential. Do you know Siasia and Simon Kalika wanted to build the Super Eagles attack around Victor Moses and Oduamadi? I read the spreadsheet interview by Kalika where he stated as much. |

Mujtahida: The point is not about hat trick. Common it was against Tahiti. I watched that match and while I was rejoicing I still sensed that this is a flasher in action. Kanu didn't score much goals for Nigeria but his over all effect and game impact were top tops.
Where's Oduamadi today. He's still young. I respect Oduamadi - every human being deserves respect but footballwise Where is he? I know it was only Tahiti. But the truth is that we have played countries of relative strength to Tahiti and still some of our super star players never scored a hattrick against them. We played a stranded, badly beat up, war torn, Liberia. A country that couldn't boast of a stadium. Yet, our Super star players couldn't do a hattrick against them. Like Igbos will say, ejiro onu etinye azu na ofe. |

tbaba1234: Players are paid very high bonuses for representing the national team. For many, national team appearances enhance their career prospects. Average people do not earn that kind off money throughout their careers.
So while they do make sacrifices, they are usually well compensated.
That said, assessing a players' ability is not disrespectful. It is an open secret that several players who have represented Nigeria were simply not good enough. Well Tammy just rejected a chance to be paid handsomely to represent Nigeria. As a player, you must have had potential to be considered for a call up to represent a country of 200 million people. It's not happenstance. National recognition doesn't come easy. Nnamdi Odumadi was once highly rated in Italy. Ronaldinho named him as a player closest to his skill set in the AC Milan premeviera team. If he was born abroad, many people would have been up in arms if he didn't get a call up at the time. |

I personally haven't sacrificed 1/4 of what these guys have sacrificed for the nation called Nigeria. I don't know about you, I'm speaking for myself. It's in record that Nnamdi Oduamadi scored a hattrick for Nigeria. Many of our legends went through entire career without achieving that feat. Everyone deserves their respect. |

TheGoodJoe: Let us not run players down because of preference. Egwueke was not bad as people made him out to be. He was a genuine talent and in the game against South Africa when we drew 2-2, Egwueke did something special.
We went on an all out attack, leaving Egwueke to do most of the defending. I think we took Omeruo off and left Egwueke in defence. With the full backs pushing forward.
Egwueke held that defence down, battling lots of counters solo. Otigba is respected but are we sure he was better than the lots of defenders we had? Home or abroad should not be the final decider but the quality of the player. Egwuekwe also played exceptionally well in Congo. He had a nasty cut on the head but still dug in with his bandaged head. He was a big reason we won that game. People remember Aaron Samuel for scoring the winner but Egwuekwe was the main man. It leaves me quite sad when people call out players when they want to make a mundane comparison. On this thread, It has become a fun thing to name Uche Nwaofor in Keshi's shiit list. This same Uche Nwaofor was the top scorer for the John Obuh lead U20 team in 2011. This guy was so good that Venlo signed him up straight from Rangers. At Venlo, he formed a deadly strike partnership with Ahmed Musa which terrorised teams in Holland. On his Super Eagles debut, he scored a brace against South Africa. The second goal was a back heel which embarrassed Khunle! I find it a bit odd that he keeps making everyone's shiit list. |

How many years do we need to have school games well sponsored and working? What does it take to sustain it? What we have is a national problem, and we can see it in all other sectors.. Naija na Naija.. Well, the anchor point of my epistle is for the Nff to really dig deep and fashion out a way to harness and develop talents back home. The little effort we have put out in the past like Principal cup, Greater tommorow and others have helped in no small measure to establish us as a force in African football. Nff needs to establish atleast 5 world class soccer academies across the country. Something modelled after the Clairfontain football academy in France. If we can pull this off and also have a highly successful league which absorbs these players like they do have in Brazil then we will be cooking with gas! TheGoodJoe: While people are criticising the call of Chidiebere Nwakali, I am glad it happened and raised my respect for Rohr. Most of those criticising Chidiebere's call-up were those criticising Shehu Abdullahi's call-up because of the league he played in.
Those kind of people will have their minds wrapped in a limited bubble in understanding that good players could fall outside the top leagues. Shehu blew that notion away.
Wait for Rohr's assessment of Chidiebere Nwakali before running the struggling young man down. I believe there is a chance of us unearthing a star in Chidiebere Nwakali and I am rooting for him. Rubbing my hands as I await the reports from camp. This has been what I've been saying for a long time now. People seem to have reduced the SI unit for measuring the ability of a player to the league he played in. This stand point is very disrespectful to what football should be. I mean, an Oscar Tabbarez lead Uruguayan team(a country of just 3 million people) nearly won the world cup in 2010 with just one world class player in Forlan. |

zicky: sorry oh, am not a food scientist or a nutritionist but I want to know what this citric acid does to the bones that will enable someone older than 17yrs beat the test, cos I know most of this white guys or someone like that obinna that was born in USA would he scale that test if it's by intake of fruit(citric acid) I saw your earlier post, where you tagged my story as hogwash. I wonder why you're asking questions about the hogwash. |

tbaba1234: I tried googling that theory, can't find any evidence of citrus on MRI tests.
I do find it strange because MRI simply looks at the fusion of growth plates and is considered 99% accurate.
In poor countries, due to poor nutrition some plates might fuse a little later but it is usually not more than 2 years. Everything cannot be found on Google. If only you know the panic and tensed atmosphere surrounding these players when they are getting close to MRI test date. These guys try everything out to best the system. I think a nutritionist suggested they take high doseage of citric acid prior to being tested. Do you really expect to find this kind of information on Google? There is a way around everything. |

Joebie: If it's truly a scientific theory don't run around with it as if it has been proven. And do you have evidence that the boys have been taking lots of citrus before the tests? lol. Don't make jest of things you're not sure of. There have been cases in the past where MRI results vary at different time of testing. Anyway, there are things not meant to be discussed on public forum. But as an intelligent person which I presume you are, don't be quick to dismiss any theory no matter how allien it sounds at first. |

Joebie: Lord do u know the number of dem say I've Heard in this Nigeria? Most were rubbish.. if no credible source, I throw it out of the window. Not in this case. We are discussing pure scientific theory here. Not until you have made your research on the theory of the efficacy of using citrus to cheat MRI age detection scan. |

Mickael2: There are like 5 standard ways to cheat your way through an MRI. That is why they also do drug tests before the MRI in some instances but the simple truth is that it can be cheated.
Moreover who is to say the MRI test was actually carried out? The FIFA agents right? What if they say it was carried out without actually carrying it out? I know MRI can be cheated organically with intake of lots of fruits, especially oranges. I will really struggle to give credibility the the age of some of these players simply because they "passed MRI scan". I saw the argument some pages back about people who finished secondary school at 14. I laughed, because most these people who finished at that age had the luxury of attending private schools. It is very easy to transition from primary school to secondary school owned by the same proprietor in the process, you could skip a few classes and finish at 14 or 15. Anyone who went the full dose of 6years in primary school, 6years in secondary school, cannot graduate from secondary school at 14. We know these players come from very poor homes. Most of their parents are unskilled workers. I mean these talents are mostly from the ghetto if I must spell it out. How many kids from the ghetto can you really beat your chest and say they finished secondary school at 14? The sand Castle comments I see here, could pass as pure comedy gold sometimes. |

Kog45: Nwakaeme?pls what can u say so far on his performance this season coz is not encouraging especially in a very average Isreali league,no goal just one assist and surprisingly some are still rating him as a player to break into Eagles XI.
Pls i need your inputs. Nwakaeme haven't really been given a chance to prove himself. We maybe pleasantly surprised if he was given a go. Remember, Bright Dike would have been on the plane world cup if not for injuries. He won the hearts of many because of his output against Catalonia and I think Italy? I have a feeling people don't rate Nwakaeme because of his looks. Yes! I will say it. I recall when first he came into limelight on this thread, most people made very derogatory comments about his looks. Talking about output this season, we have players who can't even boast of an assist this season but nobody is asking questions about their place in the world cup. |
