This is old news. Everything is just adding up to the bigger picture. I expect the thread which TB Joshua referred to Johnson Suleiman as a spiritualist, not a pastor to resurrect. |
This is interesting. Ramses II was arguably the greatest black Pharaoh in history and probably one of the most influential rulers the planet has ever known. His military success was legendary. It was believed his death emboldened Moses to come back and fight for the Israelites freedom. Ironically, it was Ramses II who married the Ethiopian goddess, Queen Nefiteri, who historians believed crowned herself Pharaoh at a point. Egyptian mythology and history is really interesting to study. |
This piece of technology will put architects out of business. |
tbaba1234:Nigeria XI: Carl Ikeme; Kingsley Madu, Kenneth Omeruo, William Troost-Ekong, Solomon Kwambe; Nwankwo Obiora, Haruna Lukman, Moses Simon, Ahmed Musa (c), Izunna Uzochukwu; Emmanuel Emenike That was the starting line-up against Tanzania away If you look closely, only the right back Kwambe was home based. It will be totally unreasonable to single him out for blame for the goalless draw. Believing that homebased players caused us 2 Afcon tickets is a huge myth. Yes Gambo Mohamed and Egwuekwe were at the Confederations cup, but I don't think their inclusion caused our losses to Uruguay and Spain. Am not defending Gambo but I think people were being harsh on him. Just about any player can miss a sitter like he did. As a matter of fact, I've seen Kanu, Yakubu, Osaze, Emenike, Uche and Martins miss sitters in the green and white. Was it not Ujah, a bundesliga striker who missed all sort of chances against Tahiti, at a time it became an embarrassment. Ideye also in the same game missed and missed and missed... We should have beat those Tahitians 12:1 if they managed to convert their chances but Nigerians like you will rather hang Gambo because he's the target, he's homebased after all. A few pages back, I read and shook my head when you said Odey would not have passed trials at Wolfsburg. Seriously, are you God? How could you have known he won't have a successful trial at Manchester United? Please stop the prejudice against homebased. Its not a crime they weren't born abroad. |
tbaba1234:Oshaniwa actually left Nigeria 3 months before the Afcon and he has been in the fringes of the team in the qualifiers. He was subbed-in within early in the second half when Burkina were pressing for an equaliser. Frankly, I see him as home based at that tourney. Ejike was not the reason we didn't beat France or Argentina in the 2 games we lost. Ejike made just a fee minutes appearance in the Bosnia game when Babatunde got injured from Onazi's shot on goal in the second half. Which of the friendlies was he really bad? These same homebased players helped qualify us for the world cup and nations You seem not to recall the reasons why we didn't make the 2 nations cup. Just cool down and read my previous post to refresh your memory. cup. Personally, I believe equal opportunities should be given to every Nigerian, home based or foreign based to make the super eagles. When people draw a line between the two, that's when I have a problem. |
tglobal:Oshaniwa left Nigeria for Israel just 3 months prior to the nations cup. He was a homebased player as far as am concerned. Not just MBA, Obabona played a key role in that nations cup triumph. |
tbaba1234:If we didn't win the nations cup because of local quota, how come when we went to the nations cup with all exclusive foreign players we never got past the semi finals? If Oshaniwa didn't inspire confidence, how come the team managed to keep a clean sheet? I mean, a defence which had 2 homebased and 2 foreign based, should have been imbalanced and capitulated if the other 2 guys weren't good enough. Most of those guys you mentioned weren't the reason why we didn't qualify for the nations cup. You even mentioned Salami who was our top scorer in the qualifiers. I wonder how you could have forgotten so soon that it was the endless politics, Keshi contract shenanigans, court cases and threats of Fifa ban which cost us the Afcon ticket. Even when we bought a life line in the final game against South Africa, it was a personal error of Omeruo which cost us the game. Gambo mohamed didn't play the qualifiers. Agbim was never in goal in any of the qualifiers. He was the 3rd keeper while Ejide was the 2nd keeper. Ejike Uzoenyi bought his own world cup ticket after the magical performance in Chan. Nigerians wanted to see him at the world cup. In the friendlies prior to the world cup, he performed really well. Nobody handed him anything on a platter. I don't think he registered up to 10 mins in Brazil. It's unfair the manner you throw people under the bus because they are homebased. This kind of supremacy mindset gave birth to slave trade. |
tbaba1234:First of all, the experiment with homebased players won us our 3rd nations cup. People don't appreciate that Keshi built that Afcon team more than a year before they won in South Africa. A trip down the memory lane: Before keshi came on board, we had failed to qualify for the Afcon in Gabon 2012. He basically went back to basics when the Afcon qualifiers went on the way and guys like Ejike Uzoenyi, Obabona, Ruben Gabriel, Osunwa, Egwuekwe , Sunday Mba etc etc played the qualifiers and I can recall Ejike and Ruben Gabriel won about 3 man of the match awards on the way. Olishe wanted to tow the same line, but he wanted to eat his cake and have it by monitoring homebased players from Belgium. That cost him his job in the end. At the nations cup finals, we had a defence made up of Obabona and Oshaniwa while Mba was in midfield. Years gone by, those 3 slots would have been filled by just anyone who played abroad and as usual,we would have walked away with the bronze medal at best. By the way Ejike Uzoenyi did not flatter to deceive at the Chan. He was in fact the tournament best player. You have to respect that. Makinwa paired Obafemi Martins upfront numerous times. Those days when I looked at Makinwa, I just knew that God indeed worked in mysterious ways. His technique was not up to scratch but he was playing in the seria A. For the life of me, Makinwa wouldn't get into any team if there was an open camp and Victor Ezeji and Kelechi Osunwa showed up. Our national team selectors really dropped a lot of clangers down the years with this home based /foreign based reverse bias. That attitude really cost us a few Afcons. |
CODMOK:Onyekachi Okonkwo never played for the Super Eagles when he was at Enyimba. I still remember the public outcry like yesterday about his continued negligence when he was by a country mile the best African based midfielder with Enyimba and later the best player in the PSL, just like Billiat. His negligence was so bad that at a time a guy named Paul Obiefuna then based in Denmark was rather preferred to Onyekachi. I think it was Berti Vogts who gave him a decent run in the side when he was at FC Zurich. Truth was that he has already hit his platuea at Enyimba and Orlando Pirates before they started looking his way. Berti Vogts at that time played him as a right back! This goes back to what I said earlier, don't select players just because they played in Europe. We would certainly had got more out of the talent of Okonkwo if he was given a run in the side in his peak years at Enyimba and Pirates. We have to appreciate the fact that homebased players play football with the ultimate goal of playing outside Nigeria to make money. You can't blame them. Most of them come from very poor background and they are basically their families meal ticket. They will always jump at the chance to leave Nigeria for "obscure" league and countries provided they get paid in dollars. That's why I laugh when people talk about Chan. Truth is that Nigerian players will migrate at the drop of a hat that it makes it impossible to get a concrete and steady home based team. Nothing good will come out of Chan with the way things are back home. How can a coach build a team when you don't know if the player you called up for a game will show up in the next qualifiers if he haven't secured a deal in Turkey. Keshi at a time wanted them to sign a contract with him that they won't leave the country until the Chan was over. The idea obviously couldn't see the light of day. The NFF earn revenue / bribes issuing players ITC. |
tbaba1234:I don't like this damning verdict. So because Gambo Mohamed, Obaje and Salami failed trials in your opinion, Stephen Odeh shouldn't get a look in. This is a bad way to judge two variables that are not the same. If that be the case, we might as well dissolve the Nigerian league. This is exactly the kind of mentality that stagnated oue football in the mid 2000's. The then national team managers preferred inviting every Tom Dck and Harry playing football in Europe to the detriment of some homebased players who could have brought more to the table. I can't get my head round a player like AyodeleMakinwa getting invites while obviously better talented strikers like Victor Ezeji and Kelechi Osunwa were ignored. These two guys are 10X better than Makinwa in my opinion. An inform and youthful Okey Odita was neglected while Abbey George who played non league football was picked. How about Onyekachi Okonkwo? Guys like Ifeanyi Ekwueme, Ikpe Ekong, Seyi Olofinjana and the rest of them who served up dross were chosen ahead of him. Not because they were better but because they were playing in Europe. Talents should be assessed based on ability not their base. I stand down. |
Legend. |
Icon79:This is one of your finest posts. Kudos! |
Icon4s:Am not touting him to be invited. I talked about him in the context of having a world class talent playing in a backwater league in Europe. His problem was that he left for Europe too early. I know for sure he would have made the keshi CHAN team of 2014 and probably played a few friendlies before the world cup. He just would have given himself a better chance of securing a good deal with a good European side and take it off from there. We were taking about Mbappe the other time, but Chikeluba is equally as talented if not better. If anyone thinks am kidding, they should watch the video the posted. Am making a case about Okechukwu because from the midfielders Rohr called up, all of them are basically more of the same. I would have loved to see K. Nwakali, Mikel Agu or Okechukwu. Forget about where okechukwu plays, even is very good. |
Kog45:I believe my last post cleared this up. |
Kog45:Am not saying he's the better player than Onazi and Ndidi. Am just saying he has a particular skill set other players lined up by Rohr do not have. Since Mikel is not available, we don't have any midfielder better than Azubuike in recycling possession. I beg not to be misunderstood. |
tbaba1234:What do you think about the subsequent games he played at rhetoric Olympics? That first game was as wild as they come. The problems the team had prior to the game is well established. |
forgiveness:I agree these players mentioned are at the top of their game, however Azubuike is talented enough to mix up with the big boys. He possess a skill set these other guys do not. |
tbaba1234:Mikel Agu was invited by siasia to camp. Siasia preferred Azubuike in midfield that's why he wanted to push Agu to pair Ekong in defence. http://africanfootball.com/news/634872/Porto-ace-Mikel-Agu-bashes-position-Siasia-played-him-for-Olympic-team I still maintain, Azubuike is better than Onazi and Ndidi in keeping possession. He's like a quarter back who sets his team up to dominate possession. He orchestrates the midfield admirably well. I don't want to believe you're singling him out to blame for the teams losses in the friendlies. Its well established that Awoniyi, Emmanuel Daniel and other experimental players Siasia pushed out were culpable for the teams poor run in friendlies. |
maidaboi:I don't think I mentioned these players were in the game. |
tbaba1234:You're too soaked in with who gets more adulation and not. Am looking at the the collection of players you mentioned and try to analyse what unique abilities they could bring to the table. Out of the lot, Azubuike stands out as the best distributor and recycler. Onazi and Ndidi are too one dimensional and are not blessed with vision and pass accuracy of Azubuike. Against Egypt in Alexandria, Azubuike was rated the best midfielder on the Nigerian side. Mikel and Etebo were rated lower. As a matter of fact, Super Eagles took charge of the game immediately Azubuike and Iwobi subbed in. Remember, Mikel Agu couldn't dislodge Azubuike in the run off to the Olympics. Siasisa opted to play Mikel Agu as a CB. Top Premiership are fishing players from non league sides. Who says we can't unravel a gem in an obscure MLS or Turkey. |
tbaba1234:Azubuike is actually better on the ball than any of those guys you mentioned.Ndidi, Etebo and Onazi inclusive. Watch the Germany game at the Olympics and see how we couldn't play out of their press without Azubuike. I don't know so much about the Ofoedu's form this seaon but one thing am sure about is that his talent is not in doubt. Watch the video I posted earlier if you're in doubt. |
joseph1013:Top post. You just hit the nail at the head. It's time people start looking beyond the name of the club a player represents and look at the unique abilities the said player will bring to the table. Christian Bassogog was playing in the USL (a level below MLS) just 2 years ago. He went to the nations cup on the books of Aalborg in Denmark yet he came out with top marks after the tournament. Winning the best player ahead of more fancied players in bigger leagues. Kante a few years back was playing for the second team of Boulougne. This didn't stop his shine. I think a guy like Azubuike okechukwu is talented enough to command a place in this Super Eagles team since Mikel is out of the picture. Non of the midfielders Rohr called up can hold the ball and distribute like Azubuike but he was neglected because he doesn't play in the Premiership. I watched in shock how our midfield crumbled at the Olympics without Azubuike, even with the presence of Mikel. Chikeluba Ofoedu is another guy I rate very high. In the past 10years I don't think I have seen a more talented player than this guy. But somehow he is earning his coin playing in Turkey. Here is a video compilation of Ofoedu for those who don't know him. Chikeluba Ofoedu - Samsunspor / 2015-2016 [Goals,…: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivakpjRFTfo Am not holding brief for anyone playing in a an "obscure" league but Sometimes, we should give talent a chance. |
tbaba1234:Still a mystery why this guy is yet to be capped. He doesn't deserve the snub he has been getting. In all honesty, I wouldn't pick Sareen Bazee ahead of Kayode. Could be a master stroke no doubt to cap Bazee ahead of Germany but.... |
I didn't watch the Liverpool vs Arsenal game so I can't give a detailed analysis of Iwobi's performance. However, from the game stats, Iwobi attempted 31 passes, 30 of those passes were accurate. Quite a remarkable data in my opinion. |
BascoVanVeli:Passing is not particularly the strongest part of his game. But he had a decent game in general. |
tbaba1234:No disrespect to these players but a collection of home based pros without Orji Kalu of Rangers is a bit meeeeh |
One thing people have to understand is that football academy culture have contributed to lack of flair we see in morden footballers. Kids at the academy are thought to be polite, decent, less aggressive and pious, they see football as just a routine, while for Street kids it's all about escaping poverty and survival ask Tevez. Determination and the drive to beat his opponent is is what a street kid is cut out for. Even the Brazilians are complaining about football academies being hijacked by captialists and Drug dealers. The end result is what we are currently witnessing. Also the new social culture of Internet and other electronic gadgets have in no small measure contributed to the below average players churned out every year. Kids these days, prefer to stay at home and Facebook or play video games than going out to interact with their mates. I was totally different in the 80s and 90s. |
Mickael2:You don't have to know the formation a coach played to understand which position Ndidi played if you have actually watched Ndidi. Basically every man and his dog knows Ndidi plays as a DM. I can understand the shock finding out that Ndidi's poor positioning have actually resulted in goals conceded by his team. Please lay off Onazi's back. The guy do not deserve the excessive critism you dish out to him at every turn. |
tbaba1234:You totally sounded like me here. ![]() |
ChrisKels:Young players tend to be over zealous sometimes. I remember Mikel used to commit lots of fouls and accumulated a lot of yellow and red cards earlier in his Chelsea career. Kolo Toure was a bit of nut case too when he first arrived at Arsenal. In a trial game session he tackled Dennis Bergkamp so hard that Denis was injured for awhile. In the same training session, he took Arsene Wenger out with a tackle that he needed an ice pack. He was still signed up by Arsenal and the rest was history. What am saying is that players like this can be managed properly and their aggression controlled, with the right manager though. Cc Tbaba1234 |
tbaba1234:Uche Agbo is a very promising player. I particularly like the fact that he can play both Dm and CB. The tactical flexibility he will bring to the table is something to look forward to. I would like to see him pair Ndidi as CBs. Them both will make a highly mobile and athletic CB pairing. |
Mickael2:You're talking like someone who doesn't know Wilfred Ndidi's position. Do you really have to see the formation to know which position Ndidi plays for Genk? Just admit it, you've not watched Ndidi that much. Because if you have, you will not doubt his short comings which is maintaining position and concentration levels. Nobody has it all. Your tirade everytime on Onazi is totally unfair. Your point of view that he's always out of position is an over stretch and sometimes bordering on a myth. |
