forgiveness:

D0 you really care to know why Tiago played 12 matches and made the bench 6 times?
From what i have deduced from your comments, you are tryiny to falsely say that Tiago was not good enough, that was why he played only 12 matches but you are absolutely wrong.
When you analyse football, you have to consider many factors to give an accurate account of what really transpired in an event.
In this case, the first question you are suppose to ask yourself is, why did Tiago Ilori play only 12 matches and made the bench 6 times?
From this question, comes the second question, when did he arrive the club?
Then, the third and fourth questions should be, is it because he is not good enough or is it because of Injury?
I hope you stylishly learning, my Oga?
Now, let me answer the second, third and fourth questions for us to diagonise and arrive at the first question because without answering these, you can't arrive at the first question.
Now, when did Tiago Ilori arrive Bordeaux? He arrived on the 17th September 2014.
Meaning, he arrived a week after the 2014/2015 season commenced and on the day Bordeaux played their second match of the season. When did he then got to play? After just 3 matches. 2+3= 5 matches ......He missed 5 matches already.
Remember, the total numbers of matches played was 38. 38-5=33 ........
hmmmm! I know you are eager to ask, then, Why did he play 12 matches, and made the bench 6 times?
This question will now lead us not to the second question, is it because Tiagol Ilori is not good enough or because of injury?
Very simply, It is simply because of injury and not because he is not good enough.
After his debut match, he was on the bench for the next match but played on the third with a goal that gave his club a point.
After that perfomance na ga wa dey play dey go. But, unfortunately, it did not last more than two matches, he got injured on the second match, on the 27 minutes against Riems, on the 3rd 0f October 2014. That was his 4th match, after his arrival, and Bordeaux 10th match of the season
The injury ended on 28th of November 2014. When he came back to make the bench on 30th Septmber 2014, he had already missed 5 matches.
If we sum up the 5 matches he missed before and after he was transfered with the 5 matches he missed due to injury, it becomes glaring that he missed 10 matches due to some situations beyond and not because of his inability to play wella.
Now, let us subtract the whole matches of the the season from the 10 matches he missed due to some situations beyond him. 38 -10= 28
That means, he was left with 28 matches. Subtract 28 matches available from the 12 matches, you will get 16 matches.
I know you are chanting, eeehn...eeehn! coolu down. I will take time to explain.
After the injury, by the time he came back, he met a winning team.
You don't chang a winning team, na. About 7 matches were played during that period. He was dressed for 3 matches, but he was not dressed for 4 matches. Pls, be informed that he played 3 CDF matches during that period.
Substract that 4 matches he wasn't dressed from th 16 matches, you will left with 12 matches.
substract 12 from the 6 times he made the bench, you will get 6 matches. You don't expect the coach not to rotae his team.
Why was ne not dressed for 6 matches?
Sorry, injuries, i AM AFRAID WAS THE ISUUSE AND NOT HIS INABILITY. Weather injuries caused him to miss the greater part of the season or not the bottom line is that he has been on a decline. It's just like praising Abou Diaby for having a good season which he only played 8 games. Of course he is a professional footballer, if he does not have abilities, he should be flipping burgers at Mc Donald's. Or working as a customer care rep at the mall. The question I raised about his abilities arises from the fact that Jurgen Klopp does not even fancy him good enough for a bench role in the first team when he recovered from injury. You cannot give the excuse that Klopp is not a youth friendly coach. Already this season players as young as 18 and 17 have made the Liverpool match day squad. If Thiago was so good, why didn't he make any appearances for that rubbish Aston Villa side who conceded goals like it was going out of fashion? If na like this you dey teach, non of your students will pass Primary school entrance examination |

Icon4s: These are countries that have most of their players in the same league. They spend more time camp to perfect strategies while waiting for a handful of their foreign pros. Also u can't compare the level of tactical discipline exhibited by the North African countries with those of the sub-Saharan countries.
BTW, I never noticed what u just stated as their style of play. I dnt know most of their players one-on-one. So it is difficult to say who was playing where or what. Or which style they adopted. I watched the teams closely and from what I saw, the Egyptians played a rigid 4-2-3-1 system which sometimes into a fluid 3-5-2. Havre Rennard played a dedicated 3-5-2 all tournament. You're not entirely correct about the north Africans playing with an entire home based team. The Moroccans, Algerians and Tunisians have evolved, especially having so many of their foreign born players switching nationality to hook up with them. |

Joebie: Good suggestion. Mine was just an example. Madu is just now starting to play. but let's see what happens when preferred LB returns in Waregem. Aluko cannot defend. correct me if i'm wrong.
I suggest, Moses can play left wing back as well. Can't Ndidi play Right wing back?
it is a supporting role, not a dedicated role I mentioned Kingsley Madu because I believe in his talent, having watched him closely on his debut against Tanzania away. Bagging man of the match award on your debut in a high pressure Afcon qualifier away from home says a lot about his abilities. Aluko on the wings defends well. I believe he can cope just like Moses is doing at the right these days. Ndidi should be the last person to be considered on the wing back position. For some reasons, I see Ndidi dropping back to the Centre back in the near future. I honestly see him metamorphysing into a world class CB after horning his skills as a DM. |

Joebie: The problem is some of us don't understand the dynamics of those formations. let me try to explain. Playing without dedicated full back does not mean absence of players in that position. Let me adapt the situation to our Super Eagles team. Let me just add this before I do that. For your information 3-4-3 is Rohr's second choice after 4-2-3-1.
Now consider this formation FOR EXAMPLE:
Ndidi----Agu----Mikel----Moses
--Ekong----Omeruo--Balogun--
--------------Ikeme-------------
this is how it looks when the team is in attack. we have 3 dedicated CBs.
1. Balogun has RB defensive tendencies though fielded as a CB here. meaning he plays both roles, while Moses falls back to support when we are defending. 2. Same applies in the Left, as it has to do with Ndidi and Ekong.
Ndidi, like Moses can cover lots of miles during a game. meaning they have stamina and are full with lots of running. very important qualities if u must run to fall back and support when needed, and advance as well. These two players have the qualities to carry that weight, and thats a big plus for a team who has such kind of players. We need to take advantage of these strengths in them to reduce our deficiency in the full back position.
Permit me to add. Phillipe Trousier played 3-5-2 in our best World Cup Qualifying journey since 94. Many African teams have not embraced the science in football. The just stick to one formation almost all the time. Nice analysis on the 3-5-2 formation. The back 3 quickly disolves into a back five when defending. However, I will choose Aluko or Kingsley Madu in place of Ndidi at LWB. Although Aluko will be my first choice. In the wing back position, you need fast runners who can fall back when defending and quickly push up to support the attack. The closest we have to Danny Rose and Alonso are Aluko and Kingsley Madu. If you watch the Ngr Vs Tanzania game in Daresalam, Kingsley Madu showed a lot of promise in that LwB role. He was named the man of the match. Aluko have the speed and grit to defend and speed to run deep from the wings. Icon4s, I think Egypt and Morocco used this formation at the Just concluded Afcon. |

forgiveness: Obviously, you don't know anything about Tiago hence the rounabout talk talk.
Firstly, you alluded he did not have a successful spell at Bourdeaux and he didn't get more than 700 minutes of game; Your assumptions are preposterous.
Now, you are alluding once again that he was bundled from Bourdeaux straight to Liverpool U23. This is also preposterous.
The facts showed that he was loaned to Aston Villa that played in the Premeir League last season, and don't tell me you expected Aston Villa to be relegated after all the spending at the beginning ot last season.
It seeems you don't follow football, right? you are calling Aston Villa Rubbish. Seriouly, you don't know nader about the Premeirship. Sorry, no offence intended, just stating the obvious.
Why he didn't play was due to injury and Liverpool recalled him back the season finished last season. Meaning he don't stay there throughout the whole season. He featured for Liverpool afterwards.
How many Super Easgle defender worth 500k pounce?
Why he didn't go back to Bourdeaux is simple because he loves England. That's all.
When did Jaap Stam start coaching for him to have done so well i the Championship?
You can never discredit his ability as coach because you wan prove point.
Coaching and managerial career[edit]
In 2011, Stam became an assistant coach for PEC Zwolle, a position he held for two seasons after Kieron Hogendoorn vacated the role.
Following his stint with Zwolle, Stam took a three-year contract with Ajax as an assistant coach, and as defensive trainer starting in the 2013–14 Eredivisie season.[15]
On 13 June 2016, Stam was appointed as manager of English Championship side Reading on an initial two-year contract.[16] Well let's say I know zero, absolutely nada like you said about football. But it's obvious you're doing a damn wack job teaching me football by trying to make me believe playing 12 games in a football season represents having a good season. In my limited football knowledge I know the Aston Villa team of last season were the worst side ever in the Premiership. A side which could only manufacture just 28 clear cut chances all season. A side which conceeded 65+ goals all season? Thiago Ilori for all the love you show him could not make 1 appearance for such a team is depressing to say the least. For someone who claims to know football to rate this kind of team is absolutely shocking to an olodo like me Prove to me that Bordeaux wanted Thiago back but he preferred signing for Championship side Reading. I challenged you to name CBs whom Stam have trained to stardom, since you want to play the all knowing Japp Stam card but you haven't or you couldn't Teacher no teach me nonsense |

Liverpool make profit on Tiago Ilori as Portuguese defender completes Reading move
Tiago Ilori has completed a £3.75million move to Reading – which means Liverpool have made a profit on the Portuguese defender.
The clubs agreed a deal last week with Liveroool cleverly agreeing a 25 percent sell-on clause in the contract, report the Liverpool Echo.
The centre back moves to the Royals to aid their promotion push, with Jaap Stam’s side currently third in the Championship.
Royals boss Jaap Stam is delighted to get his man.
"We always want players with those attributes within our squad.

You know Diego Gordin offers more than just defending. I am not writing off one system but saying that top quality defender should offer more than just defending. A defender should be a defender first. I believe that is what everyone is saying. From your earlier posts it appears you only rate defenders who play in a particular system. |

PietroRico: So defenders that can defend high should be rated first before those that excel In deeper systems? Didn't some defenders in that Chelsea team perform better than Terry In that high defensive line? Will anyone Rate them more than Terry because of that? The idea that deep defending Is easy and hence performances there should be taken with a pinch of salt is something I see too often these days and its not entirely true.
Both have their pros and cons For instance Defending deep leaves almost no recovery time when an error Is made while for high line, there is almost always the opportunity to recover as long as you have pace, that's why defenders without pace tend to look below par in it.
So the idea that a defender than can perform in high lines Is better than his counterpart because of that Is not the most accurate idea to peddle You're right on the money. It takes a quick defender to play in a high line setup a slower defender will be more comfortable in a deeper set up. Diego Godin is one of the best defenders around but he thrives in Diego simeone's deep defensive set up. It's wrong for TheGoodJoe to write off a defender who thrives in one system more than the other. There are many ways to play football. |

forgiveness: Hehehehe! What do you mean by 'down spiral after turning pro'?
Did he turn pro when he started playing for Granada?
N.... O... No!
Tiago Ilori became pro when he broke into the Sporting Lisbon team in 2011 at the age of 17. The next season, he played 11 matches for the first team in the Portuguese first division and 20 matches for the second team in the Portuguese second division. Remember, he was just 18 years old then, and that was 2012. The main reason Liverpool bought him the next season and decided to send him on loan to struggling Granada. Despite their struggles, he managed to play 9 full matches due to injuries and not lack of ability. I repeat due to injuries he sustained for two months in January. Actually, he wasn't sent on loan at the beginning of the season but in January. I hope you are getting my point.
Even at Bordeaux, when he did not play, it was due to injuries he sustained for one month on three occasions and not due to lack of ability. By this time he was between 19/20 year old.
If he is not good why did the coach played him against PSG? Remember, he was up against Ibrahmovic and em... em..... Cavani, some of the most deadliest strikers but he still held his ground and they came out with a win. What do you say about that?
Be informed that injury recked his move to Liverpool after he came back on loan from Bordeaux. Before the season commenced again injury stopped him hence the need to load him to Aston Villa.
In short, injury didn't allow him in Liverpool first team and not his ability.
I am definitely sure if he is invited, he will give these players.... You know what I mean.
Abi Isaac Success no get talent because of injury?
Note; Tiago Ilori played 15 matches for Bordeaux and 3 matches for Liverpool. Thiago Ilorin's development have stunted over the past few years. His stock have so much fallen that Liverpool who bought him 7m sold him to Reading for 3.5m that's a 50% loss. A 23 yr old who cannot make match day squad for his club, same club which have the likes of Ovie Ejiara, Danny Ward who at just 18, have made more first team appearances than your knight in shinning amour Ilori Currently, he not better than any of our defenders. I've made it clear he's not on the same level with Omeruo, Ekong, Uche Agbo and Ndidi who are all within same age bracket as him. The gulf in class between these guys I've mentioned and Ilori is a chasm. Even a much younger Awaziem have progressed more than Ilori. His distant link to Nigeria even makes it more unrealistic, not impossible getting him capped. His father is British Nigerian, while his mother is Portuguese. Please give this Ilori issue a rest. |

komekn: That may be true to some degree.
However, what is your comparison the premiership? Compare that pay to lower level clubs in top leagues of Europe then compare it thier equivalent of the championship and the gap is very wide.
Do you know some players are collected a couple of thousand euros a month. Of course in most European leagues, the players are under paid. There was this Nigerian guy then at Fc Midjiland in Denmark who barely got 1k a month. He couldn't even afford getting a car, he rode on bicycle to training. However, bar a few championship clubs with the benefit of parachute payments, the rest scrap through the barrels to break even. I understand clubs like Aston Villa, Newcastle and Norwich are entitled to 60M every year as parachute payments spread out over a 4yr period. These clubs definitely can flex their muscles and bully other championship teams with their wage bill. |

komekn: Let's talk money championship midfielders are getting transferred for sums in excess of £10 million. Strikers are going for much more at the top of thier game.
Many championship top players are hitting in excess of £25k a week. Compare that to other European leagues. And you can see players outside of the 6 top teams in thier individual European leagues coming to the championship.
It's a great way to get to the Premiership.
Aluko could have gone to quite a few premiership teams but he wants to play regularly and in a good team.
I don't believe the NFF is that ignorant, because Championship still has good quality. Comparatively to a number of minor European top Leagues for instance it's superior bto to all the Nordic top leagues. Is probably on par with German leagues outside of the top 6 Bundesliga 1 teams.
His team and being in the championship is not the problem, AT ALL.
If we can have players playing in Turkey, Bosnia, Sweden, Belgium, etc under consideration then there are other issues at play here. Bro, 25k a week in the championship is very rare oh. Apart from the relegated teams with the benefit of parachute payments. The rest of the clubs pay an average of about 10k a week. I understand Jimmy Floyd Hasselbank was on an annual salary of 40k as manager of Burton. The championship is an interesting league but it's not exactly so rewarding financially especially if you are playing for the likes of Rotherham, Burton, Preston etc... |

otezu5: Sevilla Director Sound Out Eupen Over Celtic Target Henry Onyekuru
https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/image-144-1024x674.jpg
According to reports in the Spanish press European giants Sevilla have joined the race to sign highly-rated Nigerian striker Henry Onyekuru.
Spanish news outlet Estadio Deportivo claim that the 19-year-old is being lined up by the Sevilla’s sporting director and head of recruitment Monchi as one of a number of targets to improve the first-team squad in the summer.
Onyekuru has 13 goals to his name this season for modest side Eupen despite playing as a left winger, his latest coming in their 1-0 success over Gent last weekend.
Scottish league champions are reportedly leading the race for his signature in the summer, after failing with a bid to land the 19 year old during the recently concluded January transfer window.
Celtic reportedly fell short of Eupen’s £4m valuation of the Nigerian, as they refused to up their initial £1m bid, reports indicate that Sevilla are willing to meet the asking price for Onyekuru.
owngoalnigeria.com/2017/02/14/sevilla-director-sound-out-eupen-over-celtic-target-henry-onyekuru/ Monchi is on Henry Onyekuru's case? Interesting.. . Monchi seems to have the contact of every good young player in Europe. The man is a guru... Himself and Hans-Joachim Watzke of Dortmund are the best sporting directors in Europe. |

komekn: How can you ask that question I expect that you know how things run in Nigeria.
Well one good thing one of the low down arrangement makers is out and coaching in some obscure Nordic team.
But he wasn't alone if you know what goes in the scouting process with our official and agents, you will not laugh but cry. My brother I had to ask. Wasn't so sure how he gatecrashed to the team. When I heard someone mention Daniel Amokachi invited him, I understood perfectly what happened. A guy who collects gratification from players for as little as a wrist watch. I mean..... There was this friendly Nigeria played against Romania in Bucharest. We couldn't produce up to 11 players for the friendly. I think our officials asked the stunned Romanians if they had any Nigerian in the country to come make up the team. There was another incident where some guy playing Street football in Germany somehow ended up on the super Eagles be honor a friendly game some years ago. He was playing in the German 7th division!!! I thought the Ukoh guy gatecrashed into the team with that kind of hastily arrangee game. Am quite stunned the guy has 4 caps for us. Unbelievable. |
