pocohantas: You guys shouldn't give me headache na. Please read a post and understand. Yes, bankers love deposits, but deposits without transactions is nothing!
If you had read further, you will see where I said, deposit is good to trade and avoid pool borrowing. So, yes, money for risk assets comes from deposits. But deposit isn't the all and all of any branch.
You deposit money, they pay you interest. The customer is even the one gaining. So how exactly do you get back from this customer? Because banks are there to make money.
What is the core function or definition of banking? How do banks make money? Deposits? NO!
How much does deposit itself reflect on the PBT/revenue of a branch? You are the one not reading what others are saying. Go and read a banks financial statement. |

aremso: i disagreed with the bolded, check the financials of the banks especially the FUGAZ, about 30-40% of their revenue were from TB and where do they get money for investment in TB if not deposits? Thank you for this. People won't read financial statements or get facts, they just assume a lot of things. |

pocohantas: But tbh, deposit is nothing in the long run. It helps, but it doesn't really impact on the bank's revenue.
What banks love is risk assets or transactions that bring quick money. Like dorm transfers and all. What is deposit? Deposit is just to avoid pool borrowing and probably trade. It doesn't pay salary... You can quote me on this, currently majority of Nigerian banks make money from Tbills, so FD will surely help to create more funds to do Tbills. |

cy4cent: I agree with you perfectly about the staffs at First bank's intentions of hindering him from investing. My account's officer told me TBills is not a good investment, that fixed deposit is better. I couldn't believe the mail she sent me when I asked her opinion, I had to chat her up on what's app, she repeated the same thing.
I'm on this thread reading these messages to confirm if I'm being paranoid about her intentions, unfortunately I can't go to the bank myself to confirm. Kindly sack your account officer. Lol! Bankers will always do what is in their best interest, not what is in your best interest. Same as brokers. Be guided sir! There is no way in hell Fixed deposit will be better than Tbills, from safety to returns, you name it. |

Brokers got for themselves, family, friends and rich people they will continue to do business with, hoping others will buy it at a higher price. They have been heaping praises upon praises on MTN, I find that odd. Lol! It means only one thing... direct monkey hunting. |

my findings revealed that they are leading in terms of rates for MMF.
Like they say 'all that glitters is not gold'.
kindly share your experience. if you have done business with them. Their rates just started leading. FBN MMF has been the most consistent so far. |

currentprice: I agree with u bro. i ask for the "Net asset" nobody can post it.
Bro. Hehehehehehe. Longest time. If OGG is right about their PAT last year being 140+ billion naira, they don't have any reason to be trading at 90 naira. Fair value is probably below 50 naira considering the current bear market and comparing with a slightly overvalued company like GT bank, and a deliciously priced Zenith bank. The fact that the no one knows the Net asset, as you said makes me think this was very deliberate on their part, probably advice from their analysts. This is not an MTN opportunity for Nigerians, this is an opportunity for MTN shareholders to cash out large! |

RabbiDoracle: That was what starcomms used. They were reeling out losses(LAT and not PAT) and they kept using EBITDA because this was positive. All men went to their tents when EBITDA started showing negative.

RabbiDoracle: Don't mind him.
Q1 2019 PAT was N48.4b.
Try and extrapolate this to 4 quarters. And it could come lower possibly.
I don't do IPO. I wish people can learn from times before 2008 crash.
But wetin concern me. No be my money! I am just worried that Book value, EPS, PE, debt to assets and all other important stuffs were not mentioned, just basic stuff that don't mean anything or could mean something. Lol! Make una trade with caution! I rather wait for their detailed Financial statement, than buy now on speculation. |

Join FMAN
And I will start taking them serious. They can't join FMAN because of the nature of that asset/investment. It's not regulated, it's just pure debt backed by the good will of ordinary good credit ratings. Nothing more. |

I have seen guys here talking about the Juicy Renmoney rates... it's simply high risk, even higher risk than Equity IMO! Guys this is definitely a new bubble! I can bet one day this market will crash. GTB is already trying to play the game, but everyone has forgotten how NPL's nearly destroyed the banking industry and the Nigerian Economy. Move with caution with all this higher rates, remember the higher the reward? Then most definitely the higher the risk! And for those that will say something about life without risks and blah blah blah, I agree, but it seems many of us have forgotten why we like Tbills and FG bonds, it's not because it will make us rich quickly, it's because it is safe and consistent. By all means take risks, but know the type of risk you are taking. |

TotoNaRubber: I'm about to convert £90,000 to invest in TB, as much as the interest in TB is tempting, i prefer my hard currency anyday, anytime.
The value of my raw cash could slighly go up or crash by 50% value if these idiots that occupy CBN make a wrong move again.
EuroBonds isn't in the plate as i hold currency in GBP not USD. If you prefer your hard currency any day any time, why don't you invest it in Tbills of the country you reside in? (I am assuming you stay abroad?) If that is not an option, then converting to USD and doing Eurobonds is your best bet. All it takes for the naira to crash is fall in oil prices. It will take a lot more for the USD to crash, even against the GBP you have. So the question you should be asking yourself, how soon will you need the money? Or what part will you be needing soon? If you will be needing like 10% soon and want to invest the 90% for a mid to long term, then leave that 10% in Tbills and 90% in Eurobond, overtime you can review the % you want to share it in. Forget the current yields of Tbills and Eurobond, when naira is hit hard, all this yields become insignificant. Apart from those who have been compounding for a while, recent investors will suffer hits the most. It's your money, do your research and make your choice. |

How far with all our Diamond bank analysis Guys did any report or Aliko or Olam say anything about paying 26 naira per share specifically? This looks different from the Diamond/Access deal. Especially considering total asset of DF including debt is 127 billion naira, and Olam is paying 130 billion naira to get the whole business. Coincidence? Trade with caution guys. |
