Politics › Lagos Indigenes Kick Against Other South-west States Coming To 'hijack' Governor by Good2go1(op): 6:22am On Mar 07, 2024 |
Lagos Indigenes Kick Against Other South-West States Coming To 'Hijack' Governorship Position
A Lagos-based socio-cultural organisation, De Renaissance Patriots, has stated that political parties in Nigeria must pick their candidates for governorship position in the state from the indigenous people of Lagos "Ibile Eko."
The group stated this in a release titled, "We are real, we are not faceless people: Men behind De Renaissance Patriots appear," signed by Prince Bashir Adefaka, a media and publicity consultant of the group.
According to the group, which also listed their members, the indigenes said that they would no longer tolerate other South-West states coming to hijack elective positions in their state, while their communities and villages are left in ruins.
The statement indicated that De Renaissance Patriots, a socio-cultural organisation was established to lead a better Lagos State for the state indigenes, adding that those behind the group are not hiding or faceless as may be conceived by politicians.
"We are real and are not faceless people," adding that "Our mission has been made clear from the first to third releases we issued."
Adefaka said that the group "is not fighting anybody but to ensure that any governorship candidate to be fielded for election by any political party in the state must henceforth be an IBILE Eko person."
He said that the De Renaissance Patriots Foundation debuted last year with the men behind it proclaiming "Lagos as the land of our birth; the land of our forefathers; the land had given so much to us such that we must give so much back to it."
The spokesperson explained that highly distinguished personalities of Lagos State indigenes had come to say enough of the deprivation and marginalisation of indigenes by non-indigenes from other South West states that have unlawfully grabbed the political power of their state since the return of democracy in 1999.
They are saying "Now it is time for IBILE Eko people to take back their constitutionally granted Lagos State for them to administer it properly."
The group, according to the statement, noted that it had issued three media releases and wanted to use this fourth statement to answer all regularly asked questions about who they were, and the people behind the group.
"Therefore, before we are labelled, profiled, and defined in garbs that disrespect our persons, motives, and inclinations, we invite the interested public to have a glimpse into the highly distinguished personalities behind De Renaissance Patriots Foundation. These are respected indigenes, who have served the nation and the state well in different capacities," said the Secretariat of De Renaissance Patriots.
According to the statement, the group listed Professor Adele Jinadu, former Director-General, Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON) and currently Chairman of, the Election Analysis Centre of the Centre for Democracy and Development, as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of De Renaissance Patriots Foundation while Maj-Gen. Tajudeen Adeniyi Olanrewaju (rtd), former General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Armoured Division Nigerian Army, former Member Provisional Ruling Council, former Minister of Communications and Member Federal Executive Council (FEC) and one time Deputy Defence Adviser at the Nigerian Embassy in Moscow, as the Alternate Chairman of the BoT.
Other members are, "Retired Major General Leo Ajiborisha, Pioneer Military Administrator of Osun State and former Principal Staff Officer (PSO) to the Head of State and Commander-in-Chief during the General Abdulsalami Abubakar military regime, as an honoured Trustee; Retired Justice Solomon Olusola Hunponu-Wusu; Alhaji Mohammed Akin Martins, a specialist in markets development, honoured Trustee; Dr. Wasiu Tiwalade Odofin, United States-trained scientist as an honoured Trustee; Prince Adelani Adeniyi-Adele, son of late Oba of Lagos, Oba Musendiku Adeniji-Adele II, and a repository of African History, as President of De Renaissance Patriots Foundation.
"Mr. Yomi Tokosi, former Managing Director/Chief Executive of First African Trust Bank and currently Chairman of Riggs Ventures West Africa PLC, as Secretary General; Alhaji Miftah Bolaji Are, United States-trained economist and former several Lagos State Councils' Treasurer, as honoured Trustee; Dr. Wasiu Tiwalade Odofin, a United States of America-trained scientist; and Barrister Yakubu Eleto Esq, as Youth Leader/Legal Adviser to De Renaissance Patriots Foundation with Retired Commissioner of Police, CP Tajudeen Olakunle Bakare (Rtd), listed as ex-Officio and Engr. (Dr.) Lateef Adio Onikoyi, who retired from Lagos State public service as Chief Engineer (Electrical), listed as the Researcher of the Group."
According to the release, De Renaissance Patriots Foundation is designed to enhance, promote and advocate for a better social order for the indigenes of Lagos State as well as initiate programmes, including but not limited to conferences, newspaper advertorials, press releases, and direct involvement with indigenes of the state, and to promote the political aspirations of the indigenes, their culture, traditions, social events, education and the ethos of its peoples are paramount as our objective.
SaharaReporters reports that President Bola Tinubu, who governed Lagos State between 1999 to 2008, is reportedly not an indigene of Lagos State. https://saharareporters.com/2024/03/06/lagos-indigenes-kick-against-other-south-west-states-coming-hijack-governorship-position?utm_source=operamini&utm_medium=feednews&utm_campaign=operamini_feednews

Nigeria, India trade volume may hit $20bn over Eyimba Economic City, says Indian investor quicknews-africa.netMar 3, 2024 2:50 PM Nigeria, India trade volume may hit $20bn over Eyimba Economic City, says Indian investor Nigeria, India trade volume may hit $20bn over Eyimba Economic City, says Indian investor Mr.Vishal Jhadav, Managing Director, Crescendo Worldwide, an Indian multi-sectorial FDI consulting firm, says Enyimba Economic City (ECC) is expected to increase Nigeria and India’s trade volume to 20 billion dollars. Jhadav told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on the sidelines of a dinner organised in his honour by Enyimba Economic Development Company (EEDC), the developers of ECC. ECC, which is situated on a 9,803-hectare greenfield special economic zone in Abia State, is a public-private partnership (PPP) project of Crown Realties Plc, the Abia Government, and the Federal Government. The project is being executed under the Made in Nigeria for Export (MINE) programme of the Federal Government and has currently won validation as the single largest urban development project in Africa. ECC is a recipient of the first prize of the Global New Cities Business Plan Contest of the Chartered Cities Institute in Washington, DC, in 2019, having been adjudged to have the capacity to transform the economy of Nigeria. “Today, India and Nigeria do about 11 billion dollars in trade, and it is fluctuating between $11 and $15 billion. “So with this new economic city, we are targeting increasing this trade between the two countries to $20 billion. “And we are proud to say that there are more than 76 Indian companies that have registered their interest in setting up their manufacturing facilities inside Enyimba, and these companies are from diverse sectors. “We are speaking about companies in manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, automobiles, aerospace, and medical devices. “All mixed sizes of companies are coming together and setting up their factories there, and this will not just be for the Nigerian market but for the whole African market, driving it from Nigeria. “Our role as Enyimba Economic City and Chriscendo World Wide is that we want to drive this growth and this vision so that these 76 Indian companies, when they are functional and set up their factories, will create about 2000 to 3000 new jobs. “They will have about 400 million dollars of trade and investments; they will extend to the whole African continent market from Nigeria.” Jhadav said the promoters of ECC were looking towards using the city as a place and a gateway to do business with a fantastic African and world-class infrastructure. EEC is being positioned as the place and hub to do business in Africa, with world-class infrastructure, including steady power, an intermodal logistics hub, and a destination inland port connected to two seaports by rail. He said the EEC would provide unique investment opportunities for Indian companies and other businesses around the world. Mr. Darl Uzu, the private sector lead for the project, also told NAN that he was committed to the project, which started seven years ago. Uzu, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Crown Realties Plc, said EEC had the capacity to transform the economy of Nigeria with impacts across Africa and the globe, noting that ECC had growth sectors not only in manufacturing. ”It is a self-sustaining live, work, and play modern city with growth sectors in manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, entertainment, education, innovation and technology hubs, commercial, lifestyle, residential, and aviation.” Uzu said that in addition to India, EECDC had other FDI consultants manning other territories. He said Brilliance Co. Limited in China had raised 84 prospective companies, and the Commodity Development Initiative (CDI) in Nigeria had raised over 26 companies. Uzu said that the $288.7 million required for the first phase of the project had been raised both in equity and debt. “African Export Import Bank (Afreximbank) syndicated the debt of $201.7 million, which received its board approval on Nov. 14, 2023, and currently the legal documentation of the loan is ongoing. “EECDC also intervened on improving connectivity in the project catchment area by leading a consortium that included CCECC Nigeria Limited, Escher Silverman Global, UK, Insta-Toll of South Africa, and Afrinvest (WA) Limited to win the concessions for the two main highways. The highways connect Enugu-Port Harcourt (200km) and Onitsha-Owerri-Aba (16 km) for a value-added concession that includes design, construction, financing, maintenance, operation, management, and tolling of the highways under the Highway Development and Management Initiative (HDMI) of the Federal Government.” According to him, Jhadav, a key partner in the EEC project, is in Nigeria to witness the commissioning of the Geometric Aba IPP, a 188 MW plant. Geometric Power is the official power partner of the EEC, and the two projects are financed by Afreximbank, which has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for 90 MW of Geometric’s electricity for the first phase of the EEC.(NAN) https://quicknews-africa.net/nigeria-india-trade-volume-may-hit-20bn-over-eyimba-economic-city-says-indian-investor/ |

Yes, they are sabotaging Tinubu administration because the fuel price increment is not affecting their production costs, they are using water to run their machines and even the car that conveys it to your doorstep. Why can't you support Tinubu to neutralize the effects of the sabotage by producing your own table water and sell at a cheaper price? Tinubu supporters my ass Faiththatworks: I believe at this point some people are bent on sabotaging the government. Why is everything getting so expensive,it seems Nigeria is now an extension of the United States. Once the Naira falls to the Dollar, everything rises in Nigeria,I'm wondering how everything involved in the production of pure water is connected to the Dollar. I believe it's time for Government to intervene and stop the sabotage. Seriously,I don't think anyone should blame Asiwaju for what's happening in Nigeria,it shows the extent of decline on our nation. It shows out total dependence on foreign countries for survival. I say shame on our leaders,a big shame on them. I implore Government to keep adding more taxes on all these imported goods,we must get to the point where we must begin to look inwards to survive. If we can't produce ordinary nylon bags to package pure water and we have to also import the chemicals to purify the water, then I say Nigeria has a very serious problem. For those who believe Asiwaju is the cause of this I implore you to have a rethink, why should we Ignore the bigger problem and focusing on the smaller ones. God bless Nigeria. |
