BigUgo21: You can go ahead and book the appointment once visa fee is paid. SEVIS fee payment is independent of it! and so what happens when he stands in front of the VO and the VO delays his visa approval because the VO thinks he has not paid his SEVIS fee? Don't give advice when you don't know all the facts. Not paying your SEVIS fee for at least 2 days before your visa appointment date will at best lead to administrative processing. |

VECOH1: Good morning everyone, Please I need an assistance urgently. I am filling my DS 160 form but I do not want to submit it yet. I would like to know if the application ID is the same as the confirmation number that I would use to book for my visa. Also, I hope the application ID does not change when I am about to submit the DS-160 LATER ON. Finally, does it matter to use a yahoo email to sign up for my F1 Visa profile or would a Gmail be better. Thanks for your anticipated reply. You can go ahead and book your visa appointment as the application ID is always the same as the confirmation number. The Application ID will only change if you use another DS-160 form. You can use any mail as long it is functional and accessible. The only reason I'll suggest gmail is because it's my favourite |

Vo: where are you going to Me: am going to Lincoln university for my mba with a concentration in general business in Oakland carlifonia.
Vo: how did you get to know about the school Me: the school was recommended to me by an alumni at my place of work and I a[s]lso did my research online via Education US, Usnews[/s] where I found out it’s a good school for me and it’s inline with my dad budget Vo: how many school did I apply to Me: LU,UCM and UNC
LU and UCM gave me admission Vo: what course did you study Me: Bsc accounting Vo: okay,so you going for MBA now Me: yes Vo: who is your sponsor Me: my dad Vo: whats does he do Me: his a civil engr and his into real estate management Vo:oh that’s cool ,it mean he build ? Me: yes he work for both private sector and govt parastatals Vo: nodding and head and smiling Vo: have you travelled before Me: no,had no reason to until now Vo: are you married Me: no Vo: do u have kids Me: no Vo:am so sorry ,you may not be eligible for the visa now, kindly apply again Me: thank you One fault i noticed in your transcript is that it does not make sense that you choose LU over UCM. LU does not even have any form of ranking. And who told you that Lincoln university at oakland is on usnews?. Try to say realistic things next time you visit the embassy. |

I am yet to submit my ds160 form: trying to dot all i's and cross all t's. Does that stop me from booking an appointment for interview? Please advise. Thanks No it does not. Use the DS-160 10 digit code to book your appointment, but you have to make sure it's that form that you are going to stick with to the end to avoid any discrepancies. |

You do not need to pay the fee if you are re-applying for the visa within 12 months of initial payment. Since you paid last year May, it means the fee will expire this month. I guess you know what to do from what I said. |

I applied for us student visa last year but was not successful at the interview. However am reapplying this year but I got info that I need to pay half of service fee since its not upto a year.... I need someone to confirm if true or not. Thanks Your SEVIS fee is valid for a whole year, so you do not need to pay any fraction during the year it is valid. If you have a new SEVIS ID, be aware that you'll have to transfer the fee from your old SEVIS ID to the new one. |

kingfintan: Hey bro I understand you well, but looking at it from my angle it kind of related in a way because every production industry have a safety and emergency department, and you know that we engineers deal with heavy duty machines, so natural and man-made disasters are bound to happen during county operations in the factory and so many other things.. though ain’t doing it for 4 years but rather 2 years because my first degree was recognized by the university.. I'm not telling you not to go for the course, I'm only telling you what the VO will likely be thinking when he/she goes through your ds-160. It's your job to explain to the VO why you decided to switch. Be prepared to also explain why you're not advancing your career but going for another undergraduate degree. |

Bluemix: Hi all,
I'm applying for F1 visa and when i try to fill the DS160 form, the Previous Work/education/training part of the form doesn't show the question on Educational details. I have once moved on to other sections(photo upload and review) on the ds160 form without filling the education details earlier today (as i was unaware of it) and it showed no error, but now when i started a new application and retrieved it numerous times, it still shows no such question on education.
There's only one question in that section and that is "Were you previously employed? YES OR NO". I also don't get the additional question on what clan/tribe i belong to? I don't understand where I'm going wrong. I also saw a YouTube tutorial on filling out DS160 to find out my mistake but I do everything correctly and still that section on Educational details is not being displayed/
Please help. Any suggestion is highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance. let me guess, you're a female right? educational details questions usually does not come up for female applicants. |

sweetmb4real200: Thank you for the response. Gone through some threads and I can see some responses such as the school is a red flag school. my question is, how will you know a school capable of getting a red flag? A very easy way is to use google. Add the word "ranking" to the name of a school and google it. For example, If you want to find the ranking of Boston university, you'll google Boston university ranking. The very first result will tell you the ranking of the school. If no ranking shows up, it's probably a one building school and should be avoided. |

I came across someone being rejected cos he applied to just one school, PLEASE GURUS IN THE HOUSE, Is it preferable to apply to more than one school ? because it seems all v.o ask that question from the transcripts I have read. Please should I apply to more than one school or do research on few schools and apply to just one. I want to know if it’s a criteria. Thank you and God bless. Apply to more than one school if you have the money, It is a clear indication of seriousness and hard work. These two qualities are what every international student should have. |

martAKINOLA: Visa interview last week March 19 This was how it went
VO: good morning Me: good mornings VO: what are you going to do in the US ME: to pursue my degree in computer science in the university of central Missouri VO: what are your post graduate plans ME: come back to Nigeria immediately, I have many opportunities, work with the federal government and taking over my parents business VO: what's your parent business? ME: cocoa merchant, they have a lot of lands in the southwest area with cocoa cultivations on it VO: good VO: how does this course help your parent business? Me: they do sell the cocoa seeds to various customers which the use of computer is very essential for some transactions, so with that I'll be of great help VO: how many schools did you apply for ME: 3 VO: name the other 2 ME: eastern Illinois university and university of Memphis V:O have you travelled before ME: yes VO: where? ME: Ghana and Togo
He nodded his head throughout which shows cool
He sha kept typing for long that was where I knew something is happening
VO:He just suddenly said I'm sorry you don't have the requirements He returned my stuffs
Guys where is my error I'm sorry for your denial. Amongst other factors that culminated to your denial, I notice you gave a very poor response to the bolded question above. computer science is all about programming and software developing and has nothing to do with business transactions. You do not need a degree to learn how to use MS word, excel and other simple tools for business transactions. The VO was well aware of this fact and obvsiouly knew that you don't intend to use your computer science degree for your father's business. Prepare a better response next time and carry out mock interviews with experienced people....hope this helps. |

Bigfrancis21,lagosismyhome . It seems your school's DSO did not fill in your inlaw's name when he/she was generating your I-20. This is obvioulsy to your advantage since there's no way the consulate can know the account statement you used in getting the I-20. How do i make this payment? The SEVIS fee cannot be paid in Nigeria. It is either you look for someone abroad(preferably in the US) to pay it for you or you travel to Benin republic and pay it yourself. If you find someone in the US that agrees to pay it for you, send the payment coupon you generated to the person and the person will know how to go about it. Hope this helps. |
