The church need to start taking the roles of our government and not necessarily being rebelious to the government. The church is worthless today because we have lost our flavour to the world. LET THE CHURCHES IN NIGERIA START FEEDING THE POOR, GIVING FREE OR AFFORDABLE EDUCATION, SOLVING UNEMPLOYMENT PROBLEMS, LET'S START GOING EVERYWHERE LIKE JESUS DOING GOOD TO OUR COMMUNITIES AND SAVE THIS DYING GENERATION, LET'S START EMPOWERING PEOPLE FOR BETTER LIVING AND CREATE EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES, LET'S TAKE CARE OF ORPHANS, MOTHERLESS AND FATHERLESS GENERATION, LET'S SOW SEEDS INTO OUR FUTURE FOR GENERATIONS YET UNBORN AND LET'S STOP ALL THESE RELIGIOUS FANTASIES THAT DOESN'T GLORIFY GOD. I have said it before and will say it again. There is nothing wrong in all of these spiritual gathering ONLY if it TRANFORMS the lives of the people and such transformation reflect in their lifestyle. otherwise, it is a religious activities that looks like God is in it but not. We are the most religious gathering attendants in nigeria but still our society is highly corrupt, who are the people attending these churches and mosques. Lets us look inward. Revival and repentance could happen anywhere such as in Shiloh 2011 or Holy Ghost conference but true repentance is from within.

In the view of God's word, I see that the church of Jesus has lost her focus. 90% of nigerians are living below average and hence, poor. The government in the bible is not aso rock, the government is Jesus and if we are the followers of jesus, we hold the responsibilities of government. I am not judging any man here but in my heart and in the light of God's word, i think it's not christ-like for a church to have 4 jets not to talk of a man having 4 jets in the name of spreading the gospel while there are poor in the same church, jobless in the same church etc. I am blessed and contented. If God blesses me in such i could buy a jet as a christian. I would rather spend it to bless the poor than buy such jet. Job 36:11. Prosperity is the heritage of believers and faithful stewardship but I see materialism in the church of Jesus.

Also, as regards mood of worship with handerchief or oil. Jesus did not lay down such example but it happened through paul. It wasnt Paul who gave handkerchief to the people. It was the people that came with handerkerchief on their own with faith in their heart to touch the body of Paul inorder to go touch their sick ones who were not physically present due to their illness, and this is faith, not giving handkerchief to people. If this handkerchief of a thing is Jesus' teaching, then the celestia church people will be righ by going to bath in beach.

Am not here to condemn anyone but this is the bible, we r contending for the faith and we must beware of being misled in our hunger for quick miracles not minding how it comes, right or wrong. God help us.

If my people, who are called by my name, will HUMBLE themselves and PRAY and SEEK my face and TURN FROM THEIR WICKED WAYS, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land(2 Chronicles 7:14), It is ONLY in the mirror of the God's word I found out that church and religious people can be called godly names or people but still WICKED IN THEIR HEART, ACT AND WAYS.

If they OBEY and SERVE GOD, they shall SPEND THEIR DAYS IN PROSPERITY, and their YEARS IN PLEASURES (Job 36:11), Hmmm, we go to church but still poor. We pray but still poor. We attend religious meetings, conferences yearly but still poor. We have read books: My money cometh plus 7 principles and keys to financial prosperity but still poor. All of these are good except it brings spiritual awakening and repentance in our heart. Our society is full of highest religious people and church attendance in the name of God but we are most corrupt people on earth. Only if these religious yearly stuffs make any difference, we are still in a mess. Obedience and faithful stewardship to God is the only kingdom key to prosperity. We can't take one and leave the other. More importantly, it's a lifestyle and not a phase. Stop running from pillar to pole looking for 7 keys that is not lost.

This is very correct. Pastor Bakare is one of the man of God I honour in the faith. I have seen it all in nigeria when it comes to church-ianity. The things that Jesus, our perfect example laid down we should do in remembrance of Him are baptisim and breaking of bread/drinking His blood by the symbol of wine(communion). I dont see where the practice of drinking oil became a teaching or where mantle becomes a doctrine, hereby shifting faith from Jesus to mantle and oil.

@ poster, I do not intend to debate this post with you because the canal man cannot understand spiritual things. There is God, Jesus the son of GOD and the Holy Spirit and these three is GOD. They are three as UNITS but GOD as UNITY. Go to Amoeba, how it reproduces and learn the greatness of God. Also learn from yourself as a man: you are a spirit, you have a soul and living in body(flesh), How much more our God and creator. God can manifest Himself into whatever He pleases as He is Omnipresent, everywhere at the same time.

The God of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ help us in these days. The bible said it all my brethren. I strongly advice every serious christion to study the book of revelation. This is the only book authored by Jesus himself and written by John. This is also the book that the devil dont want the christians to read because Revelation is what will take place after the church age that we are right now, that why we see churches spring up like crazy.

The greedy wolves in sheep's clothing will quote 2 Corinthians 8:9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, but for your sakes He became poor in order that you, because of His poverty, might become brich.

Note: Even though Christ was rich but for our sake He became poor. The gospel truth here is, the church of God is now paraded with leaders,pastors, bishops, reverends, evangelists, apostles etc (I dont care their fame,title or achievements) who are blessed just as any other Christian would have been blessed, but they cannot deny themselves of that riches or prosperity and become poor just like Christ to feed the poor in their church or community but would rather use these riches to buy private jets that cost billions of naira, they establish higher institutions or university that even the tithe payers or poor in their ministry cannot afford to pay for tuition.

In the United States, there are people who are neither pastors nor church leaders, even young people who are committed to feeding the poor. How does a pastor claim he was sent to the poor all in the mask of prosperity message and take church money donated by the same poor he was sent to and use to acquire private jets while poor exist in their community.

Besides, I hope to start Bible study on Nairaland someday. Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy that study to show yourself approved unto God, Christians, we need to study the truth.  Finally, 1 Timothy 4 vs 1-3:

v1: But the Spirit says expressly that in later times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and teachings of demons

Yes we r bunch of religious peole who had lost our minds. Christianity does not mean loosing our mind, For we have a sound mind which was also in christ. We pay tithes to these so called churches n the church people still very poor cos pastors n church leaders use tithes n offerings to enrich themselves. In the economic high unemployment rate, pastors take salaries from church peole's tithe n offerings, PEOPLE, WHERE DID CHRIST RECEIVE SALARY FROM PEOPLE'S DONATION? I know money money is needed to advance the gospel but the way some preachers talk abt money n collect different kinds of offerings with different names on sunday services as if the world can b won by money. The world can only be won by the spirit of God.

The US visa policy states that: You can only reapply after 6months from the date of denial. Any attempt to reapply earlier than 6months will still result to denial. The US embassy wont mind taking your re-application fee but trust me, if it's not more than six months from the date of initial denial, the candidate will definitely get another denial. In my recent study about the importance of money to the spread of the gospel of Christ. I paused and asked myself this vital question if Jesus christ ever preached money throughout his ministry on earth as we see many preachers lay much emphasis on money, donations, different kinds of ungodly/unscriptural offerings being collected in the church today and yet, we never see much movement power like the days of Jesus in today's church.

people r deceived to use their tithes, offerings and donation money to buy these jets. Oyedepo cannot say the source of his income is from his world ministration, and if it, he can better unemployment in nigeria, setup people into business, run charity organization etc. The rich people like Bill Gates in US n the likes all have charity organization they run from US to africa. What is wrong with our greedy leaders?

The jet looks good BUT in my own opinion, if David Oyedepo is truely called to eradicate poverty esp in nigeria, not to talk of the whole world. In nigeria, our population is over 150 million n we have poor people always, why cant he use part of this 4.2Billion naira to better the lives of poor people to establish them even in his so called church. I am a believer also but Jesus taught the rich man to go sell all that he had and give to the poor. I dont hate Oyedepo as a man of God but the fact of prosperity mandate with people in poverty and people cant even afford his so called university is what i am against if he is truely called to eradicate poverty.

I attended his church before i left nigeria for the US and cant even afford to attend the university. Honestly, he shld live the gospel of Jesus by doing good to the poor if he called to eradicate poverty.

I was born and raised in Nigeria up till my early 30s when i relocated abroad. I discovered great difference between my home country and where i reside now and sumed it up that, our country, nigeria unlike the developed countries do not have a foundational structure towards development. Our leaders come abroad and return home aand they all see and know what to do but i weep within me that, few of our leaders fights towards development and eat-up the future of generations yet unborn. Most developed countries today are developed because the founding fathers laid down structures for future development such as, governmental structure, social structures/securities, educational structures and developmental structures.

I am really impressed at how much Gov. Fashola has achieved, continuing right from where his predecessor stopped. His a good politician and while I support his motive to turn around Lagos, honestly, I'm a little bit skeptical about this SSA stuff. We can all agree that he can pull it off, but as many of you know, there are complicated issues involved with it. While starting a project like this takes a while, but the true question is the measure of consistency and discipline applied from all levels of government. Here are some of my own point of view the reason why I'm a bit unsure about it.

1. How does Lagos establish an electronic reporting system and state database to prevent identity escalation. For example, employers need to report employee earnings, contribution, etc. Lest we forget, employee reporting is not an easy process. Why? Well, you have to report new hires, verified through Dept of Justice (I-9s we all know), then you deal with quarterly and annual reporting, and then record management and house keeping and the whole complications that comes with it. If you have Accounting and HR, you will know how much work is involved.

2. A state like Lagos where anything goes, we need more than just giving someone a Social Security Card and then say yeah u now a lagosian. What internal and external measure do we have in place to prevent someone from Benin saying his a Lagos resident. Example do our hospitals report their records to the state (birth, death and every other records)? These are the questions that need to be asked first to prevent you know , I guess that's all I have to say for now.

Now we have people like you beginning to see posiblities in new ideas. In project like this, the begining might be tough and rough but we will build and improve on mistakes and then we develop ourselves. Employers need to have employers based SSN and employees also need to have employee based SSN, the government need to setup a system that will monitor birth certificates, students will also have SSN so as to know what status each lagosians belong, once this kind of system is put in place, the SSN will function well.

The government on her part will have a central system that is internet based to monitor the SSN administration whereby it makes eligible owners to benefit from the governement in the long run. Its only those with SSN and that have contributed to development of lagos state by working and remiting their tax through their employer that will benefit, as time goes on, people without SSN will not be allowed to work in lagos state.

It can work well as i forsee.

The journey of a thousand miles begin with a step, practising the SSN and its application if not a difficult thing to do if our governemt is ready to take the bull by the horn. This is the reason for this topic, i believe it can start with Fashola administration for lagosians and we can all build better tromorrow.

Surely it will work cos we believe in Fashola administration. All he has to do is to create the Social Security Administration dept, equip with 24hrs online accessment via internet. All Lagosian will have to be re-documented and through this redocumentation activity, the SSN will be allocated. He doesnt need to border about who pays task or not, the benefit of tax payers will be giving to them at the end of every fiscal year and the ones who doesnt pay tax will definitely have nothing to get or benefit from the government. Social Security when administered properly, works and benefit all in the long run.
