My brother, even though Christians claim that the God of the OT and the God of the NT are the same, I respectfully disagree. Reading the OT will send shivers down your spine. Jehovah was a GANGSTA. He was smacking and crushing his enemies, and sometimes even his children, whenever they did things He didn't like.

It seems I am the only short person on Nairaland. Almost every single NLer claims to be tall.

I find it interesting how CHRISTians quote the old testament when they want to support some of their archaic views. CHRISTians know that the hardest thing to do is follow the words of Christ. He unequivocally said that we should love our enemies and turn the other cheek. Even when he had the opportunity to defend himself against his persecutors, he chose not to and commanded Peter to sheath his sword.

Following the words of Christ is the hardest feat any human can hope to achieve. So many of his commandments go against our human nature. If someone is trying to take your life, the last thing you would remember is some passage in the Bible; instead, you would react instinctively and defend yourself.

I refuse to believe a story without proof.

Purist: My understanding of "soon", although relative in itself, does not in anyway indicate that we would have to wait for a whole year and half to see the manifestation of the predicted event.

Jesus said he was coming soon. We are still waiting after 2013 years. So, from a Christian POV, "soon" means, at least 2013 years.

I agree, but the lady also has to take him into consideration. I am speaking from experience. I have ruined a relationship because my ex-girlfriend assumed that I would never trust her as I did one of my close female friend. Now that I am more mature, I understand her point of view. In fact, trust is not supposed to be built during the course of a relationship, it is supposed to be built prior to it.

My ex tried to make me get rid of all my male friends, even the ones that were like brothers to me. Stupidly I did it cos of love but i felt incomplete afterwards and the relationship just didn't work out due to his insecurity and lack of trust.

You are supposed to be your girlfriend's best friend. You are supposed to be the one she can tell anything and can confide in. Is she more comfortable with him than she is with you? Does he know how she feels before you do? Even if all these are true, do not worry. Try to earn her trust and be the one she can confide in. It won't be easy because she has known this dude for a long time. This is why it is advisable to form a very close bond with someone before starting a relationship with them. I have never met any woman that will condone her man having a female best friend. Interestingly, so many people will prefer their spouses to cheat on them with someone they have no feeling for, than for their spouse to have an emotional and platonic relationship with another person.

Think about the ramifications of your statement. Suppose this wasn't an act of God. Then that means that an event that God did not approve of happened on its own. Wouldn't that call into question the omniscience of God?

I find it interesting that so many men always complain about how picky and how unrealistic women's expectations of men are. You are doing exactly what so many men complain that women do to them. If you were in this guy's shoes, and the lady in question has your mentality, you would be here castigating all the women in the world.

I think I get it now. If we are ugly and broke, then women shouldn't judge us based on looks or wealth, but they should judge us based on our character. However, if any of our female relative is trying to get with a man who is broke or not so good looking, then they must be crazy.

If that is the case then why are atheists not afraid to be around Christians? With the legions of Christians that we have, it should be atheists complaining that the doctrines of Christianity can be easily imparted unto them by constantly being around Christians; but alas, this is not the case. Jesus was constantly around the Pharisees and Sadducees and he was constantly challenged. He never ran away. The quote above is not applicable to this situation. This has nothing to do with sin. It is about defending your beliefs.
