Depends on where, what kind of accommodation you want. student hostels are relatively cheap, Private rooms can be a little expensive while shared apartments are not too expensive.
Chiznonso:

How much is the average rent over there?

Hey guys, greetings from Hamburg. Got here this week. its very cold and beautiful. Transportation network here is topnotch, lectures has been great too. settling down slowly. Learn Deutsch and don't be sacred to speak it helps a lot. Ask questions when you have to,else you will keep walking and meeting yourself at the same spot it can be confusing at first. If you're still coming this winter, get thick jackets temperature can be as low as -3 degrees (and I was told we ain't started yet). Make provision for accommodation so you won't be stranded. Also get someone who will pick you up when you arrive- its a different ball game here. Bring your naija food if you have to ( you need to see the look on the faces of my block mates when they saw me cooking my Ogbono soup and Garri yesternight - it was epic). its been interesting all the way.

If you have any issue with Deutsche Bank. I can be of help cos Alter wall (Db headquarter) is not too far from my place - Just PM me.
PS: I have missed three weeks lectures already and so I can only take few for now cos I have to catch up with classes. Am doing this because I know what we're facing in the hand of Deutsche Bank back in Naija.

Lemme stop here, Ich habe groß hunger.

See you all in Deutschland. Bis bald

If your enrollment deadline is still far like that of Rhine Waal or enrollment by post, you can specify with evidence along with your documents when booking for visa interview.
I think they don't wanna give appointment to people whose deadline is just few days after the interview. Mind you the latest appointment they gave someone as at last week was September 15th.
People are still getting appointment, few tho.
ayoadefantastic:
Hi Guys,

Please who else got the shocking response from the embassy that there is no more space for appointment and its also written boldly on their website?

Please if anyone got this email and later got an appointment pls how did you go about it.

I have read many questions about this in previous pages but no answers yet.

Thanks.

That's what they told a guy that submitted statement of account in naira. Don't know of recent tho.
djlaqua91:

Boss, how true is the abuja blocked account statement of account thing true? About using foreign currency instead of naira? Abuja peeps please help a broda out
Travel / Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 3 by GottSeiDank: 7:57am On Jul 29, 2016
You don't need to book an appointment at Abuja Embassy. They will attend to you between 1-2pm. Buh make sure you go along with your completed documents. I learnt that Abuja embassy is requesting for your statement of account in foreign currency. Also recently they haven't been attending to people that much asking them to come back everyday.
Make your findings and act fast. The interview date for September is piling up already.
Will suggest you use Lagos consulate tho.
RoxJohn:
Hello guys, please do I need to book an appointment at the German embassy in Abuja before submitting an application for DB account opening or I just go there very early in the morning to submit my application?

I can't give an exact answer buh mine was from January. I think 3 months should do. Just ensure you have enough fund in the account.
ifemi555:

Bro, should I go with one month statement of account or two months?

Travel / Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 3 by GottSeiDank: 6:54pm On Jul 28, 2016
Just be hopeful. Please don't resend (spam) them even if they don't reply you immediately or early enough. They will give you appointment. I think the consulate are using different means to punish those spamming their mail.
otomisinT:

i hope i am given an appointment too really. i sent my details today.

I never said I used the online booking method. I booked through the old and accepted means by sending the email.
praiseovie:

@GottSeiDank and anyone else fully depending on online method. I think you will still need to mail them. lipsrsealed
After i got online date using that method, when my admission eventually came in 2 weeks ago, i went to open blocked account and the woman said i must follow the instructions behind the blocked account slip to get interview date. so outside i still asked that yellow man at the entrance with bald head, he said that sending via e-mail method has always been the accepted one. That he is even sure it's just the online system that is auto-generating that email invitation for anyone using it. angry
so i had to rebook by sending the scanned copy of blocked account slip, passport data page and admission later to the required mail student@lago.diplo.de
but i quoted in the mail that i had used the online method some time ago to get a date, but that i learnt at the consulate that sending via the mail is the correct method. After which they still didn't reply me with a date, so exactly a week later (2 days ago), i sent them a reminder mail around 7 am that i am still waiting for a date, i even forwarded the first mail alongside while composing. Then that same afternoon, they replied me with an interview date, although the same date as the online method, and i bin dey pray for an earlier date. cry
so be careful, make dem nor go bounce ona on the given date by the online method, the person go dey feel say na from village ney evil people (family and friends) take do am oo shocked

Start the language study first (Goethe Lagos or others), apply when summer semester window opens after securing admission, then you apply for visa.

Please help me out in this puzzle:-
Can I correctly say that one can get admission for a course that will start next year but still apply for a visa and start with language study until summer semester.

Directly to the Embassy for certification.
oboh24:
Beloved nairalanders kindly help a brother with clarification on this.
I intend applying to a university in Germany and they stated on their website to fill the application form online get it printed out and signed and send the certified documents to me( certification from the embassy) with other corresponding degree certificates and transcripts that I've acquired and send to them.
I've heard of authentication at the ministry of education and legalisation at the foreign affairs ministry. I want know if its a protocol to observe that I will take my documents to the min of education for authentication thereafter to the ministry of foreign affairs before the embassy or I can take them directly to the embassy for certification or how is it done properly.
pls this is urgent I intend setting out by Monday for these activities here in Abuja. Thanks all

Update on my certification of documents : So the school replied my mail and told me since the documents was certified by an authorized body then am good. Just to be super sure I uploaded a sample of the certified document and told them it was certified at the federal high court. Lol.. They asked me to apply asap as the certification will do. So ama apply to Uni Stuttgart tomorrow asap.. Cos the deadline is very close.

NB: I think the best thing is to firstly contact your school and confirm about the certification thing. Not everyone would be opportuned to certify their documents at the consulate.
I hope this is helpful.. .. grin

Thanks bro.. I just mailed the school now.. Waiting for their response..
honourableseyi:

If the school mandated it to have a seal, make sure you do it according to their specification. You can use high court but first onfirm from your school if the seal is mandatory or not. Then look for any high court closer to you that has seal or not depending on what your school is requesting from you.

Bros, are you for real? Not cool... angry He only asked questions not you accessing his grammars... .. I find this rather harsh though...
No Wahala Sha... We gather dey.. cool
Bethiano:

Your English language ability is poor. Kindly improve.
The level of phonological interference in your use of English is alarming. You repeatedly used "his" in place of "is", I could not bear that one. If your continue like this, Nigeria will completely be regarded as a non english speaking country. TOEfl and ielts go dey fat on top d austerity measures wey we country dey.

Let's just agree that you were trying to be comical, like the last sentence above.

Go to high court in Abuja or the German Embassy. Know that the German Embassy will charge a fee. High court in Enugu charge 30 naira per page. I don't know how much Abuja court will charge, you know every thing in abuja is Expensive, so budget 50-100 per page.

For authentication and/or Legalisation, I advise you use the dictionary first, when that fails, I will write you an essay on the duo.

Please I have dropped this piece of advice with all humility and no disrespect, but in love and protection of our common integrity as members of an English speaking country.

A lot of us can pay to learn German, but not willing to make any extra effort to have mastery of English language. After secondary school, english language is stale news.

Me I dey find centre wey dey teach english, I wan unlearn, learn and relearn. I wan speak pass Baba wole soyinka.lol

But german dream ehnnnnn....

Interessant grin.... It's nice you have first class buh you will still have to go through the same procedure... Get your preferred school and course from daad.de or study-in.de.... You should see lots of English taught courses in your preferred field. Apply and secure admission. . After that you move to the next level....
Note: Your final grade and learning German upto B2 is an added advantage to you. Take time to read previous thread brotherly... You no go regret am. . wink

Good day mein Damen und herren (ladies and gentlemen) I sincerely appreciate the effort of all those that have contributed to the success of this thread. I have read and gained a lot. Thanks for that. My question goes thus. I am a recent university graduate from the department of soil science and land management (B.AGRIC) from a top ranked university in Nigeria. I graduated with a very high CGPA ( above 4.6/ 5.0) I am interested in studying an engineering course in Germany perhaps civil or mechanical (undergraduate).English taught. Although I have A2 international exam Zertifikat from Goethe Can any one suggest a way That can help me with my plight. Will appreciate a constructive response plssss. Haben sie eine schöne Tag.

Brotherly, welcome on board... Yea they accept WAEC as one of the requirements for your application. Try and use daad.de or study-in.de you should get something... But my advice is don't be rigid with choosing your course and school. Germany has lots of good schools and nice courses.... Hope you know you will need a sponsor or open dB account and fund it before you get visa..... Get a school and desired course, look for their requirements, gather your documents, their deadline and start firing in.... After you have secured admission, then you move to the next level...
Buh the truth still remains you take time to read previous thread... All the bosses don discuss dis. . Hope you find this helpful tho....
Salute to all the Oga bosses grin

Your school should issue a document to clarify the changes.. The HOD or Senate should be of help.. Or use the high court with enough evidence and documents to clarify that. To get an affidavit.
