I checked both redmi 4 prime and redmi 3s pro item description, it says custom rom na
Ok, I understand you, its actually unofficial rom, which also makes it custom but not like 'custom roms' grin

But you don't have to worry, flashing the official rom when it comes out is very easy.

however they are custom ROMs, the global ROM 'sounds' like its the best.. cheesy no issue with custom ROM?

hey guys many peeps here have ordered and bought a xiaomi device from aliexpress and China stores. I av 60k wc of the xiaomi device Can I get and how do I go about it. can I get xiaomi redmi note 4 pro with d amount?
With 60k you have many choices irrespective of screen size :
Xiaomi mi max - 6.44 inch, 3gig ram, 32gig rom (or make it 65k and get the 64gig rom version, also 3gig ram)

Xiaomi redmi Pro - 5.5 inch amoled screen , 3gig ram, 64gig rom, dual rear camera

Xiaomi redmi note 4 -5.5 inch, 3gig ram, 64gig rom

Xiaomi redmi note 3 pro - 5.5 inch, 3gig ram, 32gig rom

Xiaomi redmi 4 prime - 5 inch, 3gig ram, 32gig rom

Xiaomi redmi 3s prime - 5 inch, 3 gig ram, 32 gig rom

These devices and other cheaper ones fall within your budget, and for those still confused about the naming, the redmi note series all come with 5.5inch display and are ranked higher than the redmi series which come with 5 inch displays. We can summarize like this :

Redmi - low end (funny thing is this is actually mid range for many other oem), 5 inch display

Redmi note - mid range, 5.5 inch display

Mi- high end with 5 inch and above screen size ( I wonder where the Mi Max falls though, with 6.44 inch display. For me it is also a mid ranger because of its specs)

Don't mind then jare. The endurance rating could be funny sometimes.

Better to view the break down and pick what in important to you.

Imagine redmi note 3 has a higher endurance rating than redmi 4 prime.

From their break down.

Redmi 4 prime browsing 20hrs
Redmi note 3 browsing 12.55hrs

Redmi 4 video play. 9.48
Redmi note 3 video play 12.56

3g talk time. 29.15hrs
Note 3 3g talk time 21.41hrs

So looking at these, which do you think should have a better battery rating
Well everyone has his or her own opinion, at least I have used redmi 3 pro, redmi 2, redmi note 3 pro all for more than 48 hours extensively, and I currently use the redmi note 2, and will soon lay hold of the Mi max, I can tell you that the endurance rating of Gsmarena is very standard, the parameters they use for calculating is more complex than you stated there. As for windows phones can't say much.

I still doubt an average user will notice the performance difference even with multitasking. Don't estimate the 625, it's almost equivalent to last year flash ship according to benchmarks.

As per battery, I prefer reviews that state SOT instead of just looking at Gsmarena endurance rating.

In a review, a 720p YouTube video was played via Wi-Fi at a measured screen brightness till the the phone went off. Note 3 got 10hrs SOT while redmi 4 prime got 14hrs SOT. Men, that 4hrs difference in huge by Nigeria standards o.

I agree both phones are great though.
Yea, that's just for video playback via YouTube. Battery test is complex, am sure you know about that. Web browsing, video playback, WiFi, dual sim standby, music via loudspeakers, etc. Different device perform differently in these departments no matter the battery rating. It has a lot to do with optimisation. Endurance rating is like Windows rating for PCs, an average of some of these parameters. Different sites use different parameters, and that of Gsmarena is among the best and you can't go wrong with them. From the review you are referring to, we don't use our phones like that everyday, we rather do more (like a little video playback, plus a little gaming, plus much chatting, plus much web browsing, plus a little music playback, etc). If you consider such usage pattern, you will agree more with Gsmarena, so their endurance ratings still stand out, unless of course you intend to replace your tv with your phone. wink

Xiaomites, i just stumbled on this thread and i must say from what ive seen im in for an awesome experience when i land a mi device, however some of us are on a tight budget so we'd prefer to buy a phone which is affordable as well as moderately okay in terms of functionality, so which phone can kindly be recommended that is not more than $100 tops?
Redmi 4A will do, no matter your budget you get more than what you pay for any Xiaomi device, I don turn marketer for xiaomi now oooo grin

The problem with waiting for a better phone is that there will always be a better phone about to be released around the corner.

One may just end up waiting forever, lol.

Maybe xiaomi should just stick to making a few phones at longer intervals. Too many similar models leading to problem of choice for consumers.
The competition is real bro, I don't think so many choices is a problem, it is infact an advantage, the perfect convergence of what you need and the amount you are willing to splash. grin

But an average user won't notice the performance difference.

Probably only those into games and other hard core stuffs which I don't fall into that category.

Redmi 4 has better battery life, which cuts across all users, it has a better design, and Superior fingerprint sensor and I think the camera is somewhat better too than the that of the note 3.

The only ish is the 5inch screen size,. Hmmn
Performance is noticeable when you multitask heavily not just gaming. I don't do games. You just stated why you prefer the Redmi 4. The Redmi note 3 has better screen to body ratio, even my redmi note 2 is better than the Redmi 4 in that aspect. The Redmi note 3 pro actually has a better battery. Check the endurance rating, 93H against 91H on gsmarena, bugs in recent Redmi note 3 pro is what is responsible for the less efficient battery performance people are complaining about.

I think I will go for RN3 Special Edition.... just in case Glo 4G reach my side or what do you think?
You can, but I will never consider glo in choosing a device, very unpredictable network! Since I switched to Mtn this week, my battery has been very stable, Glo fluctuates a lot even when the network is good. By the way, they should upgrade their 4G band to the more popular ones, they can't limit me. tongue

Find myself in the same boat
Unless you like 5 inch screens, you can't compare both in terms of performance, the redmi note 3 pro is the boss here.

give me your personal opinion and whyhuhgive me a reason
Dem nr b mates for any department apart from the more sturdy metallic design on the redmi 4 pro. The redmi note series are always ahead of the redmi series in the ranking. Even if both phones have the same screen size, the redmi note has better hardwares.

But if I may ask, who clones xiaomi phones? Cos they r relatively unknown in Nigeria. I won't lie, I only knew of xiaomi a couple of months back and virtually nobody at my place of work knows it. They r all waiting to see the phone I have been hyping and frankly, I got to know of xiaomi via this xiaomi thread. My former favourite was lenovo k3 note and lenovo is a sort of more popular brand.

So how do people clone a fone dat ain't even popular to the average person?
The clones of xiaomi phones are much more than you can imagine, there are clones you won't even recognize easily. We should all be warned, don't just go after the sweet offer. When you see some unbeatable prices, you should be more careful, though some are smart to sell for same price as original. Those Chinese guys are far tricky than you can imagine.

When I saw it.. then i went back to AliExpress... Mi note was quoted above 200$... Then i had a second second thought...
Exactly! Mi note is way ahead of mi4. No one ever complained of the display, even display of ordinary redmi 2 is good. Immediately I saw the complain on display, the first thing that came to my mind was CLONE.
