The developers don't want to update the UI.
Used it once and uninstalled.
Neutron is the best but the UI is unappealing too.

Blackplayer EX is ideal. Haven't seen that much customization in any music player.

Not ugly like before. I believe audiophiles won't trade sound quality for aesthetics. I think when people ask for good music players, many confuse it for a 'good looking' music player.

Let's guess. You perhaps spent much time outdoors today and phone was set on auto brightness. If that's the case, it's expected because auto brightness will push the screen brightness to the maximum, which results to huge battery drain. Assuming you actually went out for an occasion in a location with poor network reception or fluctuating internet connection, then the situation becomes even worse.

Have you rebooted?
Meanwhile, if the issue persists, downgrading is not the first thing you should think about, you can download the rom and flash it again with your updater app.
