the doctor diagnosed him based on the fact that he was yet to start cruising around. He didn't mention cerebral palsy at first until I told him he was seriously jaundiced at birth n the doctor in charge of him already told me to watch him closely that he might have CB. it was after my explanation he just concluded he has CB. So I spoke with a neurologist yesterday and he told me my boy was fine even though he didn't examine him, we spoke on d phone. He said everything I said about him does not show sign of CB, that he was seriously jaundiced doesn't mean he will have CB. then the little man started crawling and scattering this morning, I'm already tired of screaming.....Lol
I was at the salon when I read this. I was smiling and shading tears at the same. I'm super excited for you.
I get very emotional when I hear jaundice or cp. I had similar experience and I don't wish it for my enemy.

Please take good care of him. You can include Titus fish and carrots in his meals. I used to blend them and add to my son's cereals. Have a great evening.

I understand that and wasn't referring to invasive tests, even observation of the child and his mannerisms is a test. You have to monitor his movement milestones over a couple of months to come up with a suspicion of CP, it shouldn't be diagnosed on the basis of 1 hospital visit and certainly not because of not crawling. That's why I said she should seek a second opinion to calm herself down

How you dey though? Been a minute
I'm good dear. Just lurking once in a while.

Without any tests? mami it's carpenter you saw not a paed

Your baby seems fine, not all babies crawl, crawling isn't a recognised milestone sef

Get a second opinion to ease your mind
Actually, there's no test like lab test required to diagnose cerebral palsy. Doctors look at patients history, physical observation and statement from the mom to infer.
There's also no treatment for that. It's only interventions like therapies to help the child overcome the delays. Like all neurological disorder, Cerebral palsy is so wide that even the doctors get confused sometimes. Do you know that some people have but don't know because they can walk and talk but there are salient things we overlook that they can't do because of cp.

happy birthday little princess....Gud evening mothers and pediatricians, my LO will be a year old next month. he doesn't crawl yet but shows signs of crawling since 8months, he just butt suffles. I took him to a pediatrician and without any test he told me he has sepsis cerebral palsy just cos he had serious jaundice at birth and had to do blood transfusion. I looked up for symptoms but he doesn't have any. he sat without support at 5months, his neck was fully controlled even before he was 3months n people were surprised, he rolls over, when in lying position he gets up n sits on his own, he claps, babbles, he put his legs in his mouth n his hands on his head, he kneels, jumps on his knees, maintains good eye contact n does not drool, he is a foodie eats anything FOOD. I'm just confused cos d doctor said he has cerebral palsy as a result of d jaundice but his bilirubim level was about 16% before d blood transfusion. pls any mother with this kind of experience?
Calm down madam. Take a deep breath and listen.
Cerebral palsy is not a form of mental/intellectual impairment. I know that there are severe cases. Having a form of cerebral palsy does not mean you cannot walk or do some certain things it just depends on the severity.
There are lots of people that are living with cp, they were not diagnosed but it still doesn't change the fact that they have it.
When a baby is jaundiced to the extent that there's blood transfusion, most times it affects their development. It can come in the form of delay, poor eyesight or something.

Your doctor may be wrong but please don't fold your hands and do nothing and just say you are rejecting it. With the severe jaundice he had, you have to be proactive in seeking for intervention.

Does your son bear weight on his legs? Does the legs shake or is wobbly when he's put to stand? Please sincerely answer these questions.

If you have any concerns with the above asked questions and you are in Lagos, you can take him to Igbobi or luth and request to see a neurological paed. I mentioned igbobi because I know they do assessment. Do the assessment and start therapy if there's need for it. Early intervention is key.

I will suggest you buy omega 3,6,and 9 and vitamin b complex. Give him the right dosage. Please don't overdose it. Use Shea butter to massage the legs and brush his feet with these hair brushes. As much as you can give him fresh foods, vegetables and fruits. Avoid processed and tinned foods.

Your prayer point should be that he is not limited by jaundice or whatever diagnosis by the doctors. Please, if things doesn't work out the way you expect It, do not lose faith. It doesn't change the fact that God is God nor changes or diminishes his love for you and your baby. It only means that he is one of the special treasure sent by God to you, love him scatter and. Nurture him. They give the best hugs and are very sweet.

Please, I am not concluding that the doctor is right but I want to broaden your mind and maybe enlighten you a little. I believe in prayers and know that praying a right is key. If you reject the reality you end up being frustrated. The best time to reject and cancel jaundice and it's effect is when the baby is still in the womb.

I just saw where you stated that he butt shuffles, most times children like that don't crawl before walking. You can try out my suggestions.

To tell you the truth, I don't know what that means (covers face) lipsrsealed
I know that. Pronounced like eeiiuuu. It’s a wild yam, harvested from forests and processed and prepared like abacha. Sometimes they mix the two together.
They don’t joke with that in the village. You see them contributing it during burial and marriages. My grandma lived with us for 10 years. cheesy. Inyi le ese omi ire.

ncha is what the potash and other orishirishi sauce you use for mixing your abacha is called na. There's no ingredient called ncha per say
There’s an ingredient called ncha.
Ncha is mainly used by Achi and Inyi people of Oji river LGA of Enugu state to prepare Abacha. It gives it a distinct taste. If you are using ncha, you just add a little potash and it’s better tolerated than potash. That’s why they call it abacha ncha there.
Ncha is like nngu. I hope I got the spelling right. It is mainly prepared by elderly women by burning some parts of palm fruit and adding some herbs to it.

If you are wondering what nngu is, it is used in place of potash. You can ask them at onyigbo market.
I just dey pass. Thanks for reading.

Good afternoon ma'ams please I just noticed my baby's foot/toe have a foul smell I don't like I'm thinking its cos of the too much socks she puts on though we don't wear the socks all day I remove in the afternoon once the weather is getting hot I only leave it all day if weather is cold please what could be the cause?

Also, at 6weeks my baby was already weighing 6kg and when she clocked two months this week, we have switched to size 3 of molfix diaper.. shocked shocked shocked I hope we are not going to the obesity route? huh Please mamas do you think her weight gain is normal?

Thirdly we are still battling heat rash on her neck and cheeks baby tribotan only worked for a while, sudocream not working only alters her fair skin...ive stopped her chicco cream and now use original coconut oil on her please what is the permanent solution for all this? Not like I even cover her too much. Please all don't jump and pass my questions thanks. smiley
Smelly feethuh Use cotton bud to clean in between the toes, minimize the socks unless it’s necessary.

Baby weight is subjective. Feed your baby right and don’t force feed. Their weight gain slows down after 6 months. As long as the gain follows the normal pattern, you don’t need to worry about obesity until the child is 2years old.

Heat rash: Don’t apply any cream or oil on her for sometime.

Thanks mama. I read about those orthopedic shoes and was even going to order one from Amazon but a doctor told me not to worry about it to much until she was at least 3years old, cos since she wasnt walking just yet, the shoes may not work properly.. but its my job to worry. I sometimes secretly wonder if thats why she is not walking yet as she reached all her mile stones pretty quickly.
Please, let your daughter be.
Tiptoeing doesn’t affect walking. There’s absolutely no reason to consider orthopedic shoes at this age, infact I find it ridiculous because more than 50% of children under the age 2 tiptoe at one point and they are perfectly ok. The only concern is if the child never put the feet down while standing or working. I’ve read all the reports about how it relates to autism and ADHD but in this case, I think there’s nothing to worry about.

Secondly, tiptoeing is one of the reasons why the early/frequent use of walker is discouraged.
I also heard that people that tiptoed are always impatient. My brother tiptoed, walked at 7 months and finally stopped at 7 years or there about.
Chill Mama.

Mamas, heart of this thread a big weldon to you all ma'am(s).been a while here, the hustle is real!.....please in need of advise concerning my
LO,he is 30weeks plus, but looks like a 4 weeks old, even some 4 weeks old are way bigger than him,he feeds well on formulas, pap, cereal and eats any thing eatable. But he is just too skinny that i you can see his rib bone,i am always afraid to bath him sef.mummies how can i get him to add a little flesh.
First,You need to see a paediatrician to be sure there’s no underlying medical issues.

Secondly, did you take all these herbal concoctions or Lipton people take while pregnant to have small babies and deliver without tear? It affects some children.

Some years back, I met a lady with a baby girl. The girl was her fourth child and only girl. The baby looks too small for a 7 months old. She eats anything that you offer her, looks very strong but skinny. She doesn’t look like she’s related to the boys. The boys look healthy and fairer.
The woman later told us she had episiotomy with her other deliveries some people advised her to take Lipton in order to have a small baby. She went feasting on Lipton, had a small baby that consumes a lot but still skinny and drools a lot. Always ashame to go out with the baby.

my surest mamas i need your advise, my baby(1yr 4months) has been stooling for like two weeks now, its yellowish and runny like mucus, have taken her to the hospital and she was given iv injection, pleased on ORS&Zinc but her stool is still not back to normal sad
Any advise please? The doctor said she will be fine but I think its taken too Long IMO...
secondly what kind of milk do I mix with her golden morn? Is it normal peak milk or the peak 123?
Please stop the golden morn and milk until she’s ok. Then reintroduce gradually.
Whenever you experience something like this, eliminate milk. You can use soy milk for the period.

Good morning Mamas, please is it possible to be prescribed with chlorpheniramine(piriton) 3 times daily for 10 months plus baby. Thanks.
Yes, it is possible. I’ve had such prescription at that age for 7 days.
We took 2.5ml in the morning and 5ml in the night because the cough disturbs his sleep at night.

Cutie... Secret of hair grooming please. embarassed
Thank you.
For the hair, I wash it once a week with baby shampoo. I only comb his hair on Saturdays because he doesn’t seeing comb let alone using it to comb his hair.
Other days, I pour water on his hair while bathing him, apply jimpo ori or Sheabutter only on his hair and finger comb it. This way, i detangle it without crying and the hair is tangle free. The hair is full and long and I can pack it into one bun.
