Programming / Re: For Developers Especially Beginners And Junior Developers. by Grandlord: 4:44pm On Apr 17, 2021
There are two types of programmers.

1) The ones who learn frameworks just enough to whip up an application. These ones are standing on the shoulders of the actual engineers because they rely on libraries, APIs and frameworks built by the engineers.

2) The actual software engineers who have a deep grasp of the concepts of algorithms, data structures, system design, architecture, design patterns etc. These ones are the programmer's programmer cool

Any self-taught programmer ambitious and curious enough, can always go from being the former to attaining the level of the later.

A CS graduate is expected to be an engineer already. He can easily learn frameworks if needed.

Just have a roadmap that shows where you're going and follow through with it. You can be the first guy and start earning some bucks but never ever stop there. Go deeper. Tech is fast changing and what's trending today might be outdated tomorrow. But the core fundamentals never change.

Please, I discovered that dataset size on kaggle are big. Take for example, while practicing an exercise on kaggle and I want to download the dataset to practice.

Is there a way to make the file size smaller before downloading or I have to download it that way?

Mehn I haven't used kaggle before. I just know you can get data from there.
Perhaps others here will help you.

Lagos is over rated, congested, over populated, polluted, filty and noise polluted. Village life is the best. Villages are the best place to live in Nigeria.
The city can shorten one's lifespan by half. No be joke.

What is there to interpret? It is crystal clear.

Tell God to come in person so that we give it to Him directly!

Else, we will keep using the proxy Jesus Himself asked us to use — Mtt 25:35-45. Read this verse from the Judge Himself!

If Solomon gave to people more than he gave God, he won't be the wisest man that ever liveth.

Giving to the needy/poor is also GIVING but can not take the place of Giving to God.

Don't judge what the church leaders do with your offering, which is not commensurate with the way you have been blessed.

There are different types of offerings, give to God what is His and to Caesar what is Caesar's.

God said he's the needy guy, the sick guy and the guy in prison. He said when you give to them, you are giving to him. Matthew 25: 40

That you're philanthropic doesn't mean you shouldn't give proper offerings in church. Change your ways.

If I may ask, do you pay your tithes?

What is proper offering?

Check Mathew 25 Vs 40 jare.

Giving to people in need is one thing on it own...

and the best form of giving on this planet.. is giving where it is needed...

Your doing the right thing..

but let me help you sir..

You don't give to church..
as in don't see it as giving to church (the administrators of the denomination)

but when you give in church, give to God, not as a gift, but as a sacrifice, and if it is a sacrifice to the most high, it should be a sacrifice worthy gift...
Giving to the needy is also giving to God.

There's a verse in the Bible where Jesus said when you give to the needy, you give to him. I think it's the parable of the judgement day.

I always thought that too.

If cross platform was the way, why are big companies not using it? Why bother learning a 'single platform' language? Why are IOS developers so cherished?

You're asking the right questions. Companies wouldn't break even if they went with cross-platform because they're building large, complex and custom solutions that can only efficiently run on native.

Developing with cross-platform leads you down the rabbit hole where you will eventually need native knowledge and tools. So why hire a cross-platform guy when you'd still need a native guy in the end? That's extra costs. It's better to use native from the get go.

In these selfless actions,we put ourselves in the constant reflection of the vulnerability of our physical composition. We are humbled in the suffering of the one we care for, and our general views and perceptions of life, the world as is it, as well as our priorities, are redefined.

This is what I was talking about. They are looking for a Shopify expert yet the job has no applicants. Upwork still shows less than 5 for no applicants. They even paid so the job can be posted for more freelancers to see yet nothing.

How many people here can build a custom Shopify theme from scratch?
The e-commerce niche has been hotcake for a while now.
Programming / Re: Why Is It That The Things That Give Money In Tech Are Always Hidden? by Grandlord: 8:47am On Nov 02, 2020
tensazangetsu20:
I started this thread because of the other thread a nairalander made about monetizing his skills.

Most people who learn programming start this way. HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React or angular or Vue and Node or python and Django. This are all great technologies but there aren't any easy to make money with. Getting a job with the MERN stack nowadays isn't easy. Node only powers 0.9 percent of websites globally and yet everyone wants to learn it. Hng internship everyone wanted Nodejs. 90 percent of the tech industry still uses relational and MySQL databases yet people are killing themselves over nosql databases like MongoDB and of recently graphql.

If you look on the freelance market, Upwork, Fiverr, freelancer et al and also look at the general job market you would see that there aren't that many opportunities for those stacks. The thing that gives people money, the things a junior developer can start to use to put money in their pocket isn't taught. Go and look up WordPress plugin development from youtube and there's just like two videos that explain the process. If you really want to get deeper into that, get ready to read your eyes out on the WordPress documentation. It's also the same thing with WordPress theme development. Magento is also another hot area. The largest E commerce platform in the world yet it's not taught anywhere. Shopify isn't also taught anywhere. Shopify uses liquid as its own programming language base. When was the last time you heard about this or saw anyone teaching or using it. Even the resources to learn these stuffs are very scanty.

I am presently working on a Shopify website and instead of coding a review page, I recommended to the client that we buy an app that does the same thing from the Shopify store. Would you believe a Shopify app which is basically just a JavaScript touch carousel that displays your reviews on your home page has 5 dollar monthly subscription with more than 10000 users. The theme the client is using. I had to rewrite most of the CSS. He bought it for 200 USD. I wonder how the theme was even accepted on Shopify. I mean this guys are banking low key and this are technologies no one talks about or even looks at. Everyone is MERN stack, MERN stack. If you mention WordPress they fit kill you or remove your head. Why does the tech industry hide where people can make money from men?
I guess this also has to do with what you want to do. Do you wanna get a job? Or do you want to be a freelancer?

If it's the former, then you learn the technologies in demand in the job market. If you want to be a freelancer, then you learn the techs that let you whip up something cool for your clients in no time. It's all about following the money.

PHP is the king of freelancing though.

The switch from liquid energy to gas will be a sharp, painful learning curve. The DPR is overwhelmed. Any jackass with a blow torch can fabricate installations and any slowpoke with a few quid can commission them without training and certification. Going forward there will be tears.

It is a great concern. To think some folks were talking about building our own nuclear reactors for power generation. Laughable.
