Hey guys, I feel the need to have a thread like this in this section. It'll help curb derailing on other threads, serve as a platform to ask random questions instead of creating a new thread for every single question you want to ask. We can even network and share ideas here.

Great idea cool

I just had to write them to review my answer again

Programming / Re: Share How You Develop/get App Ideas? by Grandlord: 1:27pm On May 03, 2020
I'm in the medical sector so I think about problems that could be solved using technology, in this sector. Most of my ideas are actually about gadgets and robots that can be used in hospitals. This is the reason my actual target in programming is embedded systems. I've also thought about cool apps as well.

I think it's easier to get creative ideas, if you choose a field or sector e.g education, banking, hospitality etc, and look into possible problems you could solve within that niche.

I hear Data is the new oil grin
I've had the option to learn programming for a while but I pushed it off because I didn't have the motivation to.
Now, the lockdown's imposed but I'm glad I was motivated to begin before it began.

I chose Data Science and ML because that's what my mentor recommended and already what I was planning on veering into personally (AI, ML, IoT)
I hope you wouldn't mind me disturbing you small here tongue
Nothing like disturbance, my man. I'm also still learning and I've been learning for about 600 hours now. It is an interesting and profitable prospect. I have to put in more hours smiley

I'm about setting up my online web development and data analytics shop(site) grin, complete with my projects and portfolio, so clients can see my work and hire me. I just want to learn more technologies so I can offer more services, but I'll start with what I have. It's cool business, especially when you can get high-end clients who know the value of your work. Well, your expertise speaks for you.

I love running my own business as opposed to getting employed by a company because your business is a long-term sustainable project and also flexible. I wouldn't mind getting hired as a junior developer for now, though. Just for the experience, you know cool

Just began to learn Python a month ago.
I'm looking to delve into Data Science and then Machine Learning

What would you recommend to keep going?
What should be on my table after Python?

After learning the basics of python, next phase is solving as much exercises as you can. It would help hone your skills.

You can find exercises on topcoder, codewars, hackeranks, leetcode etc. There are challenges available for beginners as well as experts, on these sites.

Next, download some datasets on kaggledotcom and try your hands on them using python data libraries like numpy, pandas etc. Good luck cool

Why data science and ML?

They are contracting for Brainly .

The proper question should be; How does brainly make profit? .

Short answer: through paid subscriptions and ads.
Initially, Brainly was a free website for students where they meet and solve their homework problems but recently its been upgraded to include paid subscriptions with premium benefits, hence the reason they are contracting experts to answer questions and boost their premium subscriptions.

Moreover, the tutoring job is a perfect description of sweet and bitter experience or what our late legendary fella called suffering and smiling .
The sweetest part is the dollar to naira exchange rate which is currently their strong point.

Have you ever wondered why is it that anytime they need cheap labor they always turn to the third world (Africa, India, Philippines etc)?

The future of Brainly depends on the strength of their experts.

The saddest part; there are plenty Nigerian moderators currently working with them, some of them have already materialized on this thread, the reason I'm seeking justice for my people.
Shebi you grab?
70 and 90 cents are such meagre pays, but well, not too bad for people in the third world cry

Most accomplished scientists are not the richest. In fact I don't know of a billionaire inventor and if there are it be very small in number.
Don't shame people working legitimately.

Language do matter especially when you're looking at efficiency and cost.
Why do you think game engines are written in C, C++,?
Why do you think OSes are written in C, few C++ RUST etc ?
Database Systems ?
Real-time (Embedded) Systems ?
Aircraft ?
You heard of HFT ?

And when your services keep going down because the Java app keeps running out of memory, you:
1. Either keep spending on acquiring more servers to meet up JVM never ending demsnds.
2. Re-write in a more efficient language like: C++, RUST, where you can do all that 8GB in less than 80MB.

I'm still yet to see my services go beyond 20MB.
Cool smiley

[Auto phone number Recognition]

[Recharge account]

[Buy things on online stores]

[Credit and Debit account of User]

This is super cool. I'll go research other features as well.

As a greenhorn, I'm excited to see how we build all of these subunits and how they'd come together to make a functional app cool

Then research the best tool for the job
Make a plan or a wireframe that describe what u are going to do and the part you want others to do

No code should be written until there is a design else the project will fail. In software development the easiest part is code implementation, this is not a project in which functions would be thrown about

Code written should be in oop, which requires components design and good naming practice, Java is good for enterprises app because of it oop concepts,
So oop is pretty important.

<u>Why people should participate</u>
If you are noob u will gain experience quickly because most people learn on the job
It will teach u how to collaborate, and how to endure others critise ur code
It will teach you how to use Google, stack overflow, stackexchange...
There are a lot benefits
I love this. You've got me looking at software development through the business angle and overall design planning.

I want to ask, asides Java, what other oop technology can be used? Django? Nodejs? PHP?

I agree with you. May God bless you as you begin this journey of faith.
God bless you too. You know, I realized there's a difference between being raised in the faith and actually personally accepting the faith when you're old enough to think for yourself. It seems the later is the real deal.

For the former, we were only shown the way. Accepting that way when we've grown, and continuing in it, takes a lot. We grew up to ask a lot of questions and try out so many different ideologies, on our quest for truth. That's actually okay because finally coming back to where you were raised in, means you've wandered out and couldn't find solace anywhere else, and you've realized that the religion you were raised in, is where you can find real peace and answers.

So, I wouldn't say I'm beginning a journey. I'd rather say I'm coming back to where I belong and I'm doing it with some modifications as to how it fits me, without going astray.
For instance, I'm a hymns person. I'm connected to the spirit through hymns than actual prayers. Also, I'm not the kill-my-enemy kind of person, rather I'm a be-good-to-others kind of person.

Oops...this long post is not for you, though grin
I got lost in the expression of my thoughts smiley

On second thought, for a beginner, www.catholic.com is what I recommend as it has a much wider audience and more answers to questions, for free courses you can visit Catholic.org
I'm sure you're beginning to understand that there's more to life than nothingness afterwards. What will be the point of just coming to earth, and disappearing to nothingness afterwards. Do check it, thanks

PS: start with the free catholic education. One step at a time

I'll see what I can do but I'll always go for the easiest. No rules and regulations kind of studies. I'm too lazy. All I want is to be a better person to others and hope that an afterlife actually exist and I get to live forever in happiness.

I'll do this out of respect and reverence for the supreme one, not out of fear.

I thank God for your life but I advice you to try Catholic. Start from study the simple cathechism, if you need further help, simply send an email to me and we shall take it up from there. Welcome back to the Kings of light
Isn't the Catholic version of the afterlife, scary? I just want to believe in something refreshing and comforting.

Hehehehe, the hustle is real... cheesy cheesy
las las, everybody go go back to his/her "work" that pays "more than LH" if they decide to ban all of us from 9ja, with these silly attitudes... ordinary organization and co-operation, we lack generally as a black man, "give us guns, we kill ourselves with it" (give us report button, we hunt ourselves down)...
mehn! are we this closer to animal world than humans? selfishness and greed abounds, the race to buy "benz" and oppress our fellows with it, while claiming it's our work (programming, adult content, na god, na grace, investment) that pays...
please, if anybody wishes to go down, s/he do so alone, don't drag people along with your personal issues.

This thread makes me reconsider my stance on Faith.

I wanna go back to believing in a beautiful afterlife. I don't care if it doesn't exist, I just need some form of hope to hold on to because staring into the dark empty nothingness of nonexistence drives me crazy; for me and my loved ones.

I'm logging on to the Jehovah's witnesses website. I prefer them because I don't need any scary hell stories.
