The former doesn't give certification right now, although they are proposing to start soon.
These are areas they intend to offer certification:
certification of Web content (e.g. site validity, accessibility)
certification of Software programs (e.g. browsers, authoring tools)
certification of Service providers (e.g. Web design shops)

The later's certification is fake and not recognized in web industry. w3schools is owned by certain individuals who teach crappy and incomplete tutorials to newbies and extort money from them in the name of giving them certification. Go here: http://www.w3fools.com

I can see that you most young guys in Nigeria have no single idea on how to make a meaningful statement on the world wide web landscape. Everybody wants to have a forum website build with free forum templates.

Open your filezilla, either use quikconnect or go to site manager and connect after entering your details. Then open public_html, then open the subdomain folder, then drag all your files into it and it will start uploading. When it's done, check your subdomain in your browser and you will see your web page running.

But I hope you know that subdomain is different from ordinary folder.

Ordinary Folder: yourwebsite.com/demo

Ok. It's completed. All the nav links are now working.

I want us to look at the below two images. They are what we are going to code this week with pure CSS. No images required. Except the body background images to add some beauty to the page.

1. The first image is a submit button. I want us to code it as it is with only CSS. No images.

2. The second image is a navigation kind of style. There are 6 links there. You will position them as they are in the image. There is a big black transparent circle that is carrying them. There is also a small yellow circle at the center which stands for logo. The logo text is a cursive font. You will have to use either that one or another cursive font.

ABUJA – The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Tuesday, called for the arrest of the former Head of State and Presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change, (CPC), General (rtd) Muhammadu Buhari, following his frequent provocative statements.

The President of CAN, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, in a statement signed by his Media Assistant, Kenny Ashaka, and made available to Vanguard in Abuja, said that Buhari, having in various occasions justified the action of the sect…, therefore, he stands a big security threat to the country’s corporate existence.

Oritsejafor maintained that it was so unfortunate that when every Nigerian was praying for successful military onslaught on the insurgence, Buhari rather than sharing the same feeling with well-meaning Nigerians was busy indulging in careless statements, without regards for victims of the sect’s violence who were mostly Christians.

The statement read, “The retired General was widely reported by several national newspaper Correspondents, who monitored the Liberty Radio programme “Guest of the week”, to have questioned the “special treatment” given to the Niger-Delta militants by the Federal Government while the Boko Haram members were being killed and their houses destroyed by government.


“They (the Niger-Delta militants) were trained in some skills and were given employment, but the ones in the north were being killed and their houses were being demolished. They are different issues. What brought this? It is injustice”, the former Head of State was quoted to have said.


“I cannot wish away the outburst of harshly critical statements, especially as some of them are directly related to the defense of the Boko Haram sect whose members have continued to kill, maim Christians and burn Churches. I feel the pain inflicted on Christians living in the north is too deep for us in CAN to ignore any unsavoury statement that tend to portray innocent Christians who have been killed by the sect members as the aggressors.

“It is shocking that at a time well-meaning Nigerians are praying for the success of our soldiers, Buhari, rather than reflect the mood of the nation in his statements and conducts is indulging in careless statements without regards for victims of the sect’s violence who are mostly Christians.

“I have, several times been vindicated that Boko Haram is not inspired by pecuniary motives, the latest of which is the statement by Robert Fowler, the released former United Nation’s envoy to Niger Republic who said in a BBC programme, “Hard Talk”, aired on Tuesday, 4th of June, 2013, that his captors never talked of poverty, but islamisation of Africa.

“Spent and defeated politicians with outburst of temper and elders like Buhari who take delight in inflaming religious and ethnic passions should, therefore, be arrested and made to explain some of the issues raised by them. This is why I call for the arrest of Buhari now. Buhari is a big security risk to Nigeria’s cooperate existence.

“It is laughable that Buhari, an ex-Head of State, a General in the Nigerian Army who has served this country in different capacities would support Islamists who are confronting those in his constituency who are fighting to keep the nation from dismemberment. For Buhari who has led a Brigade of troops in 1982 to repel invading Chadian troops from the same north-eastern borders of Nigeria, the first major foreign invasion, to oppose a state of emergency when some parts of Borno and Yobe States had been occupied and the Nigerian flag replaced with theirs, burnt Churches, schools, government institutions, killed innocent Christians, attacked traditional rulers and others not sympathetic to their cause, speaks volume.

“The retired General’s sad commentary has not portrayed him as a national leader. As a retired General, he should have known that fights against terrorists are not mere child’s play. They are much more difficult than conventional war which he fought in 1982. If Buhari is a national leader, he should have been more concerned about the killings of innocent ones by the sect members and the success of the troops and not that of terrorists as he has been doing.

@Greenmouse, I dont know what u mean by reconciliation appeal. I was never quarreling with u. It's just that u want me to be stroking ur ego each time u want a review. pls dont expect that from me. I post work here for review, i accept any review no matter how it was worded. I posted one website in one foreign forum. come and see some heavy negative criticisms and some positive ones. Did i tell the guy that gave negative criticism that he's been jealous of me? Did i quarrel with him? Nope. I even learned something from his criticisms.

Read through the thread well, nobody bombarded me. If there is any, i have learned from his bombardment. If you post a work, if i see positive areas, i will highlight them. I will also highlight bad areas in a way u may not like. So we are not quarreling in the first place. No need for reconciliation.

Dont worry, there is no need arguing whether it's a free template or not. But i cant see anything in the webpage that will make one download it in the first place and start editing.

Look, i did that thing under few hours. I actually play with html/css and UI/UX.
Let both of us continue and see what will be our future in this industry. But i still maintain that you and i and anybody for that matter must step up our game and make a statement in this industry.

Am yet to hit it big. Am not yet rich brother. If am around, this is what i will do.

The logo is quite ok and it surprise me why a firm which claim to make websites for churches cant make their own.

It's not a sin to use free templates. It's for newbies. But if one dwells on using free templates, then he will never be heard in this industry. This industry is more than getting a 50k or 20k website and going ahead to do it with free templates. We are pursuing a situation where one can develop stuff and make it available at github. We want to be speaking at web design conferences in europe and america. we want to take web design to another step. i cant afford to end up cleaning up another person's shit in the name of editing a free web template. i want to have control of my thing. i rather spend two hours and craft a customized stuff than bend down for hours trying to bend one html code or css i never wrote.

You said the firm cannot design their website. Do you know that Microsoft has best web programmers in the world in their team of programmers and software developers? But their current website was designed by: http://paravelinc.com (This is a 3 man web design company).

nollyj: Your first example is just 4 divs thats while I suggested using the last-child but in this present scenario I think using noMargin is a good workaround.

By God's grace, i handle html/css very well. am also pretty good in UI and UX.
Do you know how i design my thing?
Blank sheet of paper and a pen.
I will first think how i want this particular page to look, then i draw everything on paper with my pen.
Then i will fire up my notepad++.
I will first code the whole html while looking at the paper.
Then after that, I will sip some coffee and enter css.

You guys must not be confused. The name of the firm is 'ChurchSite'. It's not a church website. It's an organisation that offers web services to churches only. I designed that logo.

The website is not even looking good to me. am thinking of overhauling it. I will be the last web master that will use free template to do a work. I should have my own website where people can download free templates and buy premium ones.

There are cases I have upto 12 divs.
4 divs will be in one row, which means that the 4th, 8th and 12th divs will have no right margin.
Instead of doing nth:child, first:child and last:child, while not give them a div and use one single line of css to get the work done.

.noMargin{margin-right:0}

Again, in my case of .noMargin, reset.css has nothing to do there. reset.css typically removes margins, paddings and stuff like that from block elements, resets how block elements behave, reset ul and anchor links and so on.

Here is a picture of mine.

I have four divs that I floated left and gave them margin-right of 20px;
Now, in order to make the four divs to balance, the last one must not have margin of right since the first one does not have margin of left. So look at what i normally do:

I usually name it innerNav or insideNav.
The nav and div.nav are not same.
nav has 100% width.
.nav has 1000px width.

Again, html5 is not against div. In fact we cannot do without divs.
You can have multiple nav, header, footer and section.
Like this:

Thank u @Yawa. The nav and the div.nav are not same. They are serving different purpose. Same with footer and div.footer.
.h1 and .h2 is a class I normally give because I dont like having more than one h1 in each doc. Now when I want two stuff to have the same font-size with h1, i give one a class of .h1.
noMargin is usually given to be used to remove a right margin from a div a earlier given a right margin.
top is used to give top margin to certain div while avoiding giving others.

header and nav can be any where. u can have multiple nav and header. Usually, nav is normally included in a header. Like this:

But I chose in this work to have them separate.

Then design a website with pictures of Jonah Jang as the Chairman and other pictures where he's giving his acceptance speech and stuff like that. Then go to their new office at Abuja and give the link of the website to the sole administrator. Drop your contact info. They will call you. This is an expo. Do it, and see what will happen. The former, its position cannot be altered.
The later can be anywhere.

Pls is this a school website or personal website?

The links 'About My School' and 'About Me' are not necessary.
If you are designing it for the students of your school maybe for the purpose of passing certain kind of information to people or to be a kind of portal for the students to access certain information, then you will need to remove anything 'My or Me' from the main nav. Just go to the footer and give credit to your self and your team. You can have a link at the footer that says: Developed by: 'Your name and Friends'. Then make 'Your name and Friends' to be a link. When a user clicks on it, it will then take he to a special page where he can read about you and people that assisted you in developing the site. It's not appropriate to have that kind of link in your main navigation bar. Unless the site is your personal site.
