I wonder how you feel about your website. Do you think you are at liberty to just add any color in your webdesign as you like. The dominant colors in your website are blue, red and black. Why then did you make you hover background-color green. Just make it blue and it will be more matured. Color theory is very important. |
You need a good logo, as in how |
You are not serious. You quickly secured a domain name without having an idea. Keep waiting for us to do the thinking for u. |
It's like you just woke up from a sleep you started in 90s. |
@Yawatide, thank u. But let me quickly add that the world population is approximately 7 billion presently. @OP, I understand your worries. If you have passion for web design and you do it with fun, you will build a big career in it. Take for instance, this guy called Chris Coyier of css-tricks.com. He's a web designer to the core. It's his profession and he makes impact through it. He creates screencast. He hosts talkshows on front-end designs. He has a forum. He built codepen.io for live coding in html, css and javascript. He has what he calls 'The Lodge.' It's a membership only site where one subscribes to have access to his video tutorials. The company that developed the present website of microsoft.com is a three man company - paravelinc.com. It's headed by Trent Walton - trentwalton.com. Look, these guys are making it. Do you know what it means for the almighty microsoft to hire a web development company? All over the world, there are web designers who are doing well in this profession. The bane of Nigeria web designers is our inability to step up our game. We must start thinking beyond echo 'Hello World';. I mean there is a big need to know color theory and typography. We need to start building beautiful, dynamic and responsive websites. We need to get serious with this career. It's not enough to know the basics and then run out to rant. We must know that things are changing rapidly in this career. How many web designers in Nigeria have applied for Visa to travel out just to attend a one week web design conference? Conference like: http://2013.uxlondon.com, http://industryconf.com and http://aneventapart.com. It is not about getting a 50,000 Naira job and you quickly do it with wordpress or certain free template, then you fire up your filezilla and upload and collect your money and go your way. Again, there is need to diversify. There are lots of opportunities in this career. All you need to do is to think. If you know your game and you are still learning from web designing masters through their blogs, you can start building a career in this industry. Get a small, but well furnished office. Furnished in the sense that it will be simple and neat. Get a user interface designer for designing logos, bg images, icons, buttons, banners and mockups. Get a front-end designer that will focus on htm/css/js. Then if you are a backend guy, settle for php/mysql and other stuff. Then start marketing yourself. 2015 is here. These politicians need websites for their campaign. Have you noticed that our politicians are internet illiterates. I mean they dont think about it. Do you know that in US, politicians have websites even if they are contesting for governorship. In nigeria, it's hard to see a gubernatorial candidate that has a campaign website. When they do have, you will always discover that it's shabbily designed. Now, you can plan for this 2015. Package yourself and get ready. Do you know you can approach these politicians and market yourself to them. In fact, I managed to get a personal email of one of them who is warming up for the presidency. I wrote him about building a website for him. He replied and said that it's ok that I should just keep in touch as they watch events as they unfold. @Solid, go become solid. It's in you. |
layiwola008: Lear how build website within 5 daysWhy have yo chosen to be celebrating mediocrity? |
Creating cool stuff.

Cheap bloggers. |
You aren't serious. |
It doesnt matter. They may be operating from laptops. |
Activeman was quick to come here to nail Web4Africa down, now he wants this thread to be closed. For what? I think it's wrong on his part to request that moderator close this thread after running web4africa down. He should first apologize to web4africa. |
^^ guy, u just killed it.
Try it and see. If it didnt work, tell ur host company to just configure it. |
Are u telling us that for the past one year you siad you have been doing this that you have not decided whether web design is worth pursuing or not? Listen, every career is worth pursuing if you know ur game. There are frustrated medical doctors and lawyers. There are snail farmers that are living well. I mean very well. There are web developers that are struggling. They are desperate. They use free templates and modify for their clients. They do copy and paste. They have not decided to learn how to design and develop beautiful, dynamic and responsive websites. Their color theory is very poor. They dont know how to use typography on the web. They dont know how to distinguish themselves and market their skills. They keep begging clients to allow them design a website for them for 10k. They lack packaging. Guy, every career is worth pursuing if you know how to stand out from the mediocres in that industry. |
Ar u talking about blogger alone or every website? Basically, 404 error page is not a big deal. Just use html and css to design a web page that has links to: homepage, contact us page and sitemap page. Then save it in ur root folder as 404.html or 404.php. When a user enters a wrong webpage or broken link, ur host will automatically detect the 404 page in ur root folder and display it by default. No javascript is needed. Most web host now detect 404.php in ur folder and displays it when things go wrong. |
miracle4: sir is the career ok now ?Good. Well done. |
What have u been doing for the past 4 years with these skills? I guess u were doing freelancing. Then why not use the money u saved to start something? U can start training people. You can start a small multimedia company. |
That's one of the craze for a common name domain. I guess they will be regretting by now for purchasing those domain for such amount. shop.com? Who has heard of that? While ebay.com and amazon.com ar household name. Google.com. How many millions of dollar did the owners buy it? Nothing was paid. Today, u cant do anything meaningful in a day without using google. facebook.com. How much did Mark buy it? Today, all the 20 domain names put together cannot equal it. israel.com shouldnt have been bought at all. The nation of Israel could hav claimed it if they wanted. The point is that domain name doesnt matter a lot these days. U can choose a name that even sounds abstract and turn it to a brand. hp.com is just an abbreviation of names. dell is someone's name. So to me and to those that understand branding, having a name like dati.ng, hosti.ng, or wel.com will not make u prominent and it wil not bring conversion to u. Am yet to know that there is a website called sex.com, clothes.com and the likes. |
I want to believe the OP is nt serious. He just wanted to gain cheap views and popularity from NL. However, if he's serious, then this is one of d shameful ways of doing business. He may even be older than Zukerberg and here he is wallowing in the mud of scam business. Internet squatter. He thinks every domain name that is 'available' is truly available. He should just go and bury his head in shame and think of what to do to himself. Facebook is busy brainstorming to birth another idea, and someone in Nigeria is trying to feed on the dried dung of facebook. Why settle for less when u can have more? |
Or check: www.000webhost.com |
Why wont u check google. U even stand the chance of getting quicker and many options. Do u mean a host company that wil host ur domain witout making it a subdomain? I dont think it exists. |
Gallery? I dont understand. You can look up images on the web. Like searching career or job opportunities images. You should give life to those web pages. As for the faded and transparent bg image, I think it's ok as against Yawatide's review. If u make the place pure #000, then the beauty of the bg image is gone. |
How wil a developer track downloads? |
Gone are the days web pages rank because of domain name. If u want to build a brand out of a domain name, u can go ahead and use it and thru good seo, u wil stil make ur pages rank well wit other keywords. There is no point having a domain like this: www.topandbestwebdesignanddevelopmentcompanyinnigeria.com |
I suggest u outsource it. You wil still hav the credit and profit. But if u insist doing it urself, am afraid u wil end messing up this opportunity. |
You tried. Did you code from scratch? The text color is a bit faint. It may strain the eyes. Why not use #333 or #444 instead of #666. In career and assurance of quality pages, the way you displayed the text is not professional. You just added the text just like that. I expected you to have two divs there. One containing the texts and other containing some images. You float both divs left. Why did you use table for the contact form? Although it's not a much problem, but you should have used even ordinary <p> tag to do that. Again, I expect you to give some beautiful styling to the form. The faded and transparent area of the background image should have been achieved with just css. But it's ok that you used image. |
Yes, they will beg us for peanuts but our domain names of choice may no longer be available then. Do u remember how much a sim card cost initially? The issue is that not every business will need .ng stuff. I personally will never have a .ng domain. Although it's good to buy all extensions if u ar afraid of people cloning ur business name. |
If u want to play wit ur business, you may have to use any of the nigerian hosting companies. If u are really serious about your business, then u may use foreign hosting companies like: siteground.com or domain.com |
Just use: info@thenameofthecompany.com |
vowiski: Sharrap dude!U cant get a victim here. |
Scammer. |
