@DualCore, you are too much. I knew from the beginning that this is a pure scam. But i deliberately was avoiding that to get my friend who lives in PH to go to Romoudara to investigate if there is a school as OP wrote. And if there is, for him to inquire if any Elvis is schooling there. |
i was so close in getting the pc => i took an iphone from a friend to sell it and get a pc(fairly used) and pay him back later but i lost the iphone in a place i went to charge it so i can sell it the following day. |
I still want to say that coming to NL to look for financial assistance may not be the best thing to do. If you are indeed 14 years old, then you are under-age to even look for fund to fund your programming skill. Have you told your parents or guardian about this laptop issue? Is your school authority aware that you are a programmer? Is your pastor or imam aware of this your programming skill and your need for a laptop? I mean, you should not jump protocol and rush to NL to ask for financial assistance. |
boron10: Trust me, Ghanaians, Malaysians and Indians dont hate usThey do. i live in india. |
Slyr0x: OP Never mentioned dropping outta school. .I honestly don't know where you got that from.I didnt say the OP said he wants to quit school. I was saying that young people have been deceived by sayings that some of the innovators dropped out of school. databoy247 referred to Kiyasoki, but I never said the OP should complete his education and get job. I actually liked his effort and skill, but he must not allow that to triple him. Let him focus on his education for now. There are lots of apps he's yet to develop. Look at his comment: i meant i missed few classes for 3 weeks. Most of them i was there but my mind wasn't and others i was outside. He was in the class, but his mind was not there. He's definitely playing with his education and somebody is so sentimental that he doesn't want to tell him. These guys after watching 'Social Network' movie, they will want to neglect some fundamentals. If he thinks that his idea is ground-breaking, let him tell his parents and with his parents, they should meet the principal of his school. The principal must have a way of getting any of these media houses to showcase what he has built. He may even get a scholarship, not a laptop. As long as I'm concerned now, the OP dont need a laptop to be coding his apps. He needs his education. @OP, go to your principal and explain to him that you've go a skill that must not be allowed to die. But everything still boils down to this: sell the app and focus on your education for now. |
@databoy247, am not discouraging him. U ar the one getting Kiyasoki wrong. Kiyasoki's kids ar in school right now. Here is my point, if the parents cant help him, let him sell the app and face his studies. Lots of young guys have been deceived into thinking that so many great technological innovators like Steve Jobs, Bill Gates and so on dropped out of school. But these young people have nt been told the full story. If this guy thinks that he cannot continue school, then let him tell his parents so that he wil be given all the necessary support to pursue his career. But for him to come here and be asking for assistance to buy a laptop and then be losing concetration in the class is not wise. The greatest advice this boy will get is to face his college and be doing freelancing during vacation. He should even let his skill be known to the school authority. He may even end up developing an app for the school and thereby getting bigger exposure and assistance. |
Slyr0x: Dude, you shouldn't just shut people up that way. .especially young smart chaps like the OP.I am not discouraging him. At 14, he is still under his parents. He should tell them to help him. That he is a programmer will not make people to just start giving him money. Again, you said he's not looking for financial assistance, but a freelance job and a mentor. Here is part of his post: Right now, am still looking out for people so as to raise the money for the laptop... The point is that my advice still stands. He should tell his parents to get him a laptop. A laptop that will serve him will not be more than 30k. Which is just a laptop that will have him install netbeans. But if the parents cannot afford the laptop, he should sell the app and focus on his secondary school education. He should not allow his thinking that he's a developer and programmer to deceive him. He should focus on his education and probably be doing some freelancing jobs during vacation. And not to go into full scale software or application development. If he goes into that, he may not have time and money to properly deploy it. He should finish his college. But if he thinks that his brain is too hot that he cannot continue school, then let him discuss with his parents so that they will support him and allow him to pursue his career in programming. |
Tell your parents to buy a laptop for you. If they cant afford a laptop, then sell the xmxme and focus on ur education. U shouldn't come here looking for financial assistance. Sell off the stuff and face ur education. Bulk sms app is not even a ground-breaking innovative app. More stuff are yet to be needed. Face urr education for now. Just look at, u have missed three weeks class already. Dont allow what u think is the next big thing to joepardize ur future. |
LAGOS — Policemen attached to Adeniji Adele division have arrested a 22-year-old man who alleged kidnapped and raped a student of the University of Lagos, UNILAG, Akoka, for turning down his advances. The suspect, Babajide Bashorun, was also alleged to have taken nude shots of his victim (names withheld) and pasted them on the internet with her real name, school, department and age. But the suspect in an interview with Vanguard claimed that the lady was his girlfriend. He admitted to have taken her nude pictures and gave them to his friends whose identities he gave as Aje Mayowa and Babajide Ademuyiwa, both final year students of Architecture also of UNILAG. The incident, as gathered, occurred two months ago at 1, Ajose Street, Enu-Owa area of Lagos Island. But the female undergraduate was silent over the matter until her relations abroad who stumbled on the nude pictures on the internet contacted her mother in Nigeria, last week. How it started Narrating how the incident occurred, the female undergraduate said: “Babajide came to our house to treat our dog. In the process, he requested for my phone number and I reluctantly gave him. He started calling me and told me he would like to go out with me. “But I told him I already had a boyfriend whom I loved. Yet, he kept calling me, saying he was not interested in just going out with me but wanted to marry me. Aside that, he kept monitoring my movements and at a point, I deleted his contact on my phone. “I was returning home for a weekend in April , a car stopped by my side at Idumota bus-stop. Jide was sitting beside a driver who was unknown to me. “On sighting him, I walked past. But the next thing he did was to hold me by the hand, dragged me into the car and drove to his house. “When he got home, he started beating me and tore my clothes, asking what I wanted that he could not give me. He instructed me to unlock my phone and when he discovered that I used my boyfriend’s name as password, he resumed the beating. “At a point, he gave me his phone to speak with some of his friends who told me I was in for trouble, for turning down a member of their unnamed cult, threatening that they would kill me for treating him shabbily. “Thereafter, he raped me and when he was done, his friend took his turn despite my plea. When he saw I was bleeding, he stopped and started begging me. At that point, he brought out his phone and started taking my nude pictures. I made attempt to cover my face but he hit me on the head with a bottle and continued taking the shots. How I escaped “I begged him to allow me call my mother to give him some money for my release but he refused. I also appealed to him to delete my pictures when he started begging me. “I stayed in that room all night till the next day when he went out to get me some drugs. Immediately he stepped out, I tried the door and discovered it was not locked from outside. I quickly changed into one of my dirty clothes in my bag and escaped. “But I could not tell anyone at home. When my elder brother asked what the problem was on seeing the blood stained clothes, I told him I was involved in an accident and when my mother insisted on knowing what the problem was, I told her I fought with a course mate. She insisted on going to school with me on seeing the magnitude of the injury but I prevented her. “Barely had I settled down than Babjide called, threatening to kill me if I disclosed what happened to anyone. As if that was not enough, his friends also called and threatened me as well.” She is my girlfriend — Suspect However, on his part, Babjide claimed that the undergraduate was his girlfriend, adding that they only had a fight on that fateful day. Expressing shock over his arrest, he said: “She is my girlfriend. We only fought in April and have resolved the matter. “What led to the fight was her request for money to buy an IPad which cost over N100,000. Because of my love for her, I managed to raise N70,000. She visited me on that day and I advised her to change her way of living which included going to club . I also accused her of flirting with other men. Along the line, we started fighting and I used a mop stick to hit her and in the process , took shots of her and sent the pictures to my friends. But I did not tell them to paste the pictures on the internet.” Police sources hinted that efforts were on to arrest Mayowa and Ademuyiwa alleged to have pasted the victim’s nude pictures on the internet, while Babajide had been charged to court for kidnapping, rape, conspiracy, attempt to commit murder, indecent assault, and assault occasioning harm. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/06/how-i-was-kidnapped-raped-for-rejecting-love-advances-unilag-student/

OAM4J, pls why was this thread closed: https://www.nairaland.com/1338580/15-governors-attended-amaechi-ngf You closed it and asked your guy to open a similar thread and you back date the time to 9pm yesterday. It seems there are irresponsible fellows here. |
Slyr0x: You are missing it bro. .What you call "frivolities" is actually her selling point. .Well, i agree that she makes big money from her blog. But people like us will not bookmark or read that kind of blog. But does it matter? People like us may even be too small in number, so we make no difference to her traffic. |
Best way would be to get a fresh copy of Wordpress, then edit the default template or install a template you like, then manually create pages/posts and copy the content from the html static site. Wordpress works in a straight-forward way. If you know a bit of php, you are good to go. Just look up for a quick online tutorial and get it done immediately. Or you can call upon any of these guys here like: "miracle4" and pay him to get it done for you. |
That means they need a CMS. It`s either you code a custom CMS from scratch for them using php and mysql OR you convert the website to Wordpress. |
The faction of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum under the leadership of Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi met yesterday in Abuja, with 15 governors in attendance. Yesterday’s meeting was the first to be convened by Amaechi since his re-election as chairman of the Forum of 36 states governors in a controversial election. Speculation was rife yesterday that the meeting was postponed in deference to President Goodluck Jonathan who had also fixed a dinner with the 36 governors for yesterday night. Daily Sun checks however revealed that some of the governors in the Amaechi camp insisted that the meeting must hold in order not to give impression to the Jonah Jang led faction of the Forum that the Amaechi group has no followers. Further checks revealed that besides governor Amaechi five PDP governors also honoured his invitation for the meeting. The list include the Chairman of Northern states Governors Forum and Niger State Governor, Babangida Aliyu, his Jigawa and Kano states counterpart, Sule Lamido and Rabiu Kwankwaso and governors Murtala Nyako and Dr. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko of Adamawa and Sokoto states. Others in attendance were governors of Lagos, Ogun, Ekiti, Zamfara, Edo, Nasarawa and Imo states. The governors of Osun and Borno were represented by their deputies. The meeting lasted for 45 minutes before the governors rose to proceed to the Presidential Villa for the dinner appointment with President Jonathan. There was no communique at the end of the meeting. Chairman of the Forum, Rotimi Amaechi told journalists that the meeting was cut short to meet up with dinner appointment with President Jonathan. “There was no meeting, we decided to differ to the president. We agreed that the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and that as compatriots and as governors of different states, we must honour and respect the president and having invited us to a dinner, we decided to go for the dinner.” On when the meeting would be re-convened, Amaechi said, “the next meeting will be at the next National Economic Council, NEC meeting.” Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, however, gave indication that they might still reconvene yesterday night. “We are going to the Villa to honour Mr. President invitation to a dinner. If the dinner ends in good time, we would be back for our meeting. If it stretches much longer than we anticipate, we would sit with the President.” The Forum of 36 states governors had since been polarised into two camps following the rejection of the Forum election held on 24th May, 2013, where the Rivers State governor polled 19 votes, as against his rival, Jonah Jang of Plateau State who scored 16 votes. The Jang faction which has Ondo State Governor, Segun Mimmiko as deputy chairman had since vowed not to recognise Governor Amaechi’s leadership of the Forum as it claimed that the chairman of the Forum had always emerged through consensus, not election. The governor Jang faction had since opened a parallel secretariat in Maitama area of Abuja. http://sunnewsonline.com/new/cover/six-pdp-govs-attend-amaechis-ngf-meeting/ |
You tried. Your logo is green, but green is not reflected anywhere in your layout color. Your contact form is like where you are asking a WAEC student to fill a form. How can you tell your customer to fill in his first name, his middle name, and his last name? You demand that he must provide his three names before he contcat you. Basically, contact us form usually have: Name, email, message. Simple. The pages under 'Men's Collections' and Ladies Collections', the big white container needs some padding. |
You have lots of unsemantic codes in your html file. You have lots of !important command in your css. !important is very dangerous. Stop using it and learn css specificity. Why save your image with png when the image is not transparent. With png, you got 163KB, but I resaved it with jpg and got 28KB. Just check this and copy the code and let's see what happens. http://www.ctrlshiftstudios.com/test Copy the css code and go to base.css and paste it at the bottom of the file and save, then refresh your page and see. |
Nobody is saying that Linda is the queen of African or Nigerian blogging industry. I don't even visit her blog. The last time i visited, i noticed that her blog is full of frivolities. In her blog, you can see something like: 'So so and so shows off her bikini body. Beautiful. Hehehe.' With a picture of a lady wearing a bikini. To me, that's useless. It has nothing to add to my life, business or career. That is the essence of blogging. When you go to blogs like mashable.com, smashingmagazine.com, copyblogger.com, problogger.net, entrepreneur.com, entrepreneurs-journey.com, and even this nigerian woman who is really making impact in blogging industry: romancemeetslife.com, you will learn tons of lessons on the niches they cover. Linda Ikeji blog is like a personal ranting blog. It's a general blog that doesnt base on a niche. So if she copies her posts, and so what? Is she a measuring tape for blogging standard. If 2face starts blogging now, even if he writes, 'What's up' as his post, people will still comment and flood the website. Why? He has huge followers already. Even if he writes crappy posts, people will still be hailing him. So whether Linda writes original post or do copy and paste, people will be reading her blog especially Nigerians. But for one to establish himself as an authority in the blogging industry, he must choose a niche, write consistent original articles, promote his blog and be persistent. It will take hard work, but it will pay off. With time, the person will become an authority in that niche and will have followers who will bookmark his blog. With this community of faithful followers, he can then advertise a product, maybe an ebook or an affiliate stuff to them, and because they have taken him as authority in that niche, they will buy the ads. |
Niche blogging will always be better than general blogging, especially if you want to establish yourself as a credible expert in the community and potentially create a source of revenue from your blog. Once you find your niche and dedicate your time to dominating it, you can end up having a highly successful blog. And most bloggers who remain generalists don’t last very long. People want to know what you are about, what you stand for, and what to expect. Few blogs will make it to the winner’s circle of someone’s daily bookmark. A blog that is purely a landing spot for both everything and nothing at the same time, won’t achieve that coveted reward. At least not my bookmark. Sites like ESPN who cover a number of sports are still targeting the same “type” of audience. Sports enthusiasts. Now if ESPN starts posting articles about “how to plant flowers”, then there is a problem. |
Whoever that told u that wants to defraud u. If it's ur hosting company, they want to take advantage of ur inexperience to exploit u. Their major work is to host ur site for u. Paying them for SEO is optional. To get ur website to be seen by search engine at least when someone types in ur domain name, u have to make sure u did some basic onpage optimization. Then, have original and relevant contents related to ur keywords. Go and submit ur website at google webmaster central. Get the xml sitemap of ur site and upload to ur root folder. Go to dofollow blogs and comment quality comments with the links of ur site. With time, u will start appearing on search engines. |
Just tell us one well known blog that is a general blog site. You talked about listening to gurus, but u ar the to post about 5 blog links here with topics that supports what u ar going into. did u believe one is a guru only when he believes what u believe? And those links u posted, all of them are niche blog sites. look, am not against what u want to go into. No sensible person wil be against it. am just tell u that ur blog will not be a force to be reckon with. every company in this world base their business in a particular niche. google cannot start manufacturing hospital equipments. but google can develop a technology, an app for hospitals' use. i encourage u to do what u want to do. we learn by doing. |
You are just funny. allafrica.com is just a news website that collects news from different websites. For instance, I hovered on multimedia, i chose website hoping to see tips, articles or tutorials on website design, i just saw a collection of news from all kinds of websites. Look, general blogging is waste of time. If you want to blog, you must have to build on a niche. Unless you want to blog like Linda Ikeji that writes all kinds of things especially frivolous stuff. There is no well known blog world wide that is not based on a particular niche. If there is, tell me. Blogs like: HuffingtonPost, TMZ, BusinessInsider, engadget, PerezHilton, Gizmodo, Mashable(10 million monthly visitor), TechCrunch(7.5million monthly visitor), Gawker, lifehacker, The Daily Beast, SmashingMagazine, FailBlog, Kotaku, boingboing. These are among the world top blogging sites. And yet, none of them is a general blogging site. |
You should have allowed him to answer your first 2 questions. If you have, Im sure you wouldnt need to write all u wrote up there cos I believe HE IS ON YOUR SIDE! Chakra and shakara is not and cannot be the same thing. By the way, I thought you live in india and if so, its surprising words like "chakra" didnt make sense to you. My last bullet : Relax bro!
Is chakra a Hindi language? Pls i dont know what is chakra? Tell me. |
@Dualcore, if i get what u mean. Do you mean shakara? As in someone been prideful? Pls dont misunderstand me by making an unguarded statement like this. Does this mean becuase i posted something am working on for colleagues to review means that am doing something unproductive and unhelpful to the society? What does that suppose to mean? If you are too busy doing something productive and helpful to the society, please also know that posting the most simplest work here is also a productive and helpful something. Whatever i have posted here for review was never done to show off. I dont claim to know anything. I am still learning. You need to see where I ask my mentor some stup1d web design questions that some newbies know. |
@Dualcore, i dont get you. |
PASSION OR MONEY? First, you dont blog for money. You blog for the passion and then your persistent passion will produce the money. Check history, greatest technologies or innovations we have witnessed never started by the founders to get some bucks. Think of google. Think of facebook. First, they had an idea fueled by passion. Now, the money is coming in. Someone said here that if you blog for passion, what happens when the passion fades out? Good question. Now, blogging for money is actually a passion in itself. And it will fade sooner than blogging for the purpose of contributing to the life and career of your readers. The thought alone that your readers are been blessed by your contents gives you even more passion to give them your best. With persistence and consistency, you will gain big followership which will yield the money for you. How do you make money from these teeming readers? a. Placing an ad b. Producing an e-product they can buy and download. c. Starting membership only tutorials. d. Affiliate marketing. NICHE OR NO NICHE? There is nothing wrong in blogging generally. But the most powerful blogging is niche blogging. There are blogs that specifically address a particular niche. For instance, as a web developer, if I want some authoritative information on a particular topic related to the web, I know where to go. It's either Smashing Magazine or Alist Apart. I can't go to a general blog site and start searching for the topic I want when the author has over 1000 topics in 800 different niches. Whereas at the sites above, I will get 1000 topics in one niche. Generality is never celebrated in any field of human endeavour. That is why medical doctors after spending about six years in the medical school, will still specialize on a particular branch of medicine. If you want to be an authority in the blogging industry, you must choose a niche. But if you want to just have a diary where people can check occasionally to see if you have written anything that interest them, then general blogging is the way to go. Someone like me cannot bookmark such blog. For instance, if i see a blog topic on sports, i dont even try reading a single line of it. Why? I have complete zero interest in sports. So i will not fancy a blog that will write about sports today, health tomorrow, cooking next tomorrow and web design the other tomorrow. No. I want a situation, if I want topics in let's say about love and relationship, I will know where to go and get what I want. Not where i will go and as the page is loading, I will not know what to expect. And when the page has finished loading, I will see a Chelsea vs Manchester ranting. I will just hit the close button. And thereby increasing your blog bounce rate. Having said all these, you can still blog for the money and not for impacting your readers. You can still blog generally. You will still gain some followership. Goodluck. |
Just did this right now. I want to keep it simple as possible. I want to host it with just my name.whatever http://ctrlshiftstudios.com/alex I want a situation, the visitor will read about me on the website, then there is a link 'Learn More', which I intend when clicked, it will then take the visitor to my main website portal that houses some other stuff about me and my blog. What do you think? |
It's ok. |

Email list of people you don't know and people that didn't sign up for your maybe newsletter? That will be spamming on people. Just do facebook or google ads and promote your business. If you run the campaign for one month, you will definitely create some awareness. Then you can have a newsletter sign up form in your website where people can sign up for updates. Or you can create or purchase an ebook and allow people to download it free from your website by giving you their emails. When you gather enough, you can start sending them mails about your services. |
