Nobody is trying to bring you down. It's you that want to blow your trumpet when you know you are still far from knowing the nitty-gritty of web design. Look at your thread topic: 'Best Website in Lagos.' I belong to several foreign forums. And if you open a thread with this topic in such forums, guys will just embarrass you. There are a lot of things wrong with your website. You even missed some fundamentals. For instance, what is the big deal in blocking a user from entering ur website with useless jquery slide until the user clicks ENTER? Now, it makes u to carry the burden of referring your website url as: kexpan.com/home.php. There is what is called user experience. Your website lacks.

It's not enough to grab templates and codes from tympanus.net/codrops and build something and then rush to NL to make noise. You are the one bringing yourself down. You still have a long way to go. Web design industry is bigger than you think. There are best practices you must follow. A lot of things are coming up which you must learn or you stand the risk of been outdated. Your website is not even responsive. These are things you should quietly be fighting behind the scene to learn and implement on your own website. Web designing is more than learning basic html and css. There are a lot to learn. Have you learned how to use svg images and hack around it to be supported across browsers. Some of your images dont have alt description and you named your images generic names like box1.png, box2.png, etc.

At the home.php, you have a link that says 'BACK'. Back to where? To index.php? To do what? To watch jquery slides?

If you will need my site link before you run away from mediocrity, then let's all hide our websites until we know what we are doing. Stop making noise here in Nairaland. We know you are using a free template. What is that demo.css in your html head part? And inside the demo.css, why are you using a class name .codrops-top. Who is codrops?

You guys cant bend down and learn web design. Let's see how you will stand out in this industry with crap like this.

Good idea.
Those absolutely positioned circle images dont fancy me.
Whereas absolute positioning is awesome, try to be avoiding it in most cases.
Just lay your pictures in square normal layout like pinterest is doing.
The big border and the big hover border seems unnecessary to me.
Just layout the pictures normally with 1px border and vary the width and height of the pictures, so that it will appear like a collage.

Make the hover in such a way that when a user hovers on an image, its opacity will reduce and two icons will show. One icon will be a magnifying lens, the other will be like a note icon. When the magnifying lens is clicked a jquery fancybox will pop up and show the bigger version of the photo. When a note icon is clicked it will take the user to a page where he will see a bigger version of the picture and also the story behind the picture.

If you invest time in this project and refine it well, soon you will start getting 100k visits per day and then u strategize on how to monetize it by placing ads.

@remmyz, you are wrong. Using lorem ipsum is not the way to detect if someone has used a free template. What stops him from putting another text there that is not lorem ipsum? I for instance use it a lot when am working on a project that its write-up is not yet ready.

Both the text and header image are dummy stuff. Yet, i wrote the layout myself.

A some things are wrong with that website.

1. The hover color of the main nav links is dark.
2. The text shadow of all the nav inks is just childish.
3. Why did you give height of 400px to your div class 'maintext' and other divs? It's wrong to give a height to a div that can grow later. Allow it to grow automatically with its content.
4. The transition on the drop down menu is not smooth. Or may be it's deliberate. It's like the font-size changes.

Again, why keep using free templates. You can code this lay-out yourself and have a better control of the feel and aesthetic of the web pages.

If they were unable to develop LagBook from scratch and instead used a framework, how will they develop something similar from scratch for the company that developed from scratch the framework they used to develop lagbook?

Guess u wil be teaching them only html/css/ftp? It's even ok. With the knowledge of htm/css, they can get some works and do and get some income then further their knowledge. My cousin went to Ibadan to learn web designing. It was a one month course and the fee was 100k. He paid into their account and went. After one month, he was unable to design a simple website. The guys just duped him. They actually taught him html/css, but the training was a junk.

If u have good trainers, 2weeks is enough for one to learn html/css.

How will 1st set start on 17th July, while second set will start on 1st July and third set 15th July? Or do you mean August?

50 students each for 5 sets. That is 250 students multiplied by 5k, that is more than 1.2million Naira for 2 weeks training multiplied by 5 sets equals to 10 weeks (two months and half). Wow. Big income.

1. Anambra is not mobile friendly. On my 15 inches laptop, the website even has a horizontal scroll bar. The layout with lots of gradiets is actually childish. Image alts are empty. But I like their choice of green color.

2. Akwa Ibom is not responsive or mobile friendly. Image alts are empty. The orange color is a bit off-color for a government website. The facebook icon on the top right is not properly positioned. I like the layout.

3. Bauchi looks simple and matured. I like the layout. Image alts are properly described. It looks like a wordpress. It's very responsive. I don't like the blue color they used. And I dont like the fact that if u want to read more about the house members, a pdf file will start downloading.

4. Bayelsa didnt make sense.

5. Delta not ok.

6. Kano is just a funny joomla template. Just a crappy website.

7. Kastina, the color is too shouty. Not fit for a government website.

8. Lagos not fine.

9. Oyo is not fine.

10. Rivers not ok.

Most of the websites took eternity to load.

Overall, the best so far is Bauchi, then Akwa Ibom and then Anambra.

Since u have tried the three, which one are you more comfortable with?

PHP/Python are cross platform. ASP.net isn't.
Actually, every language has its goodies and syntactical sugar, but every language also has its dark sides as well. Use whatever you prefer.

If your problems are bigger: Anybody with a C/C++/Java background will prefer PHP over Python or ASP. ASP vs PHP is a philosophical question. PHP is open source and comes with a great variety of community-driven extensions and a fun community to help you with your problems. ASP is closed source and comes with a great variety of commercial extensions sold at ridiculous prices and consultants charging by the hour.

Facebook and Wikipedia run on php.
Google and youtube run on python.

I suggest u learn php first, then python. With these two languages, you can develop any robust web application you like.

I think it's ok now. The h1 font-size needs not be reduced in small viewports. Users aren't in a hurry like that. They will scroll down, even to the one at the footer.

@Cheavroi, thank you. In this case, it has a good heading. We dont want them to fill a form or download anything. We want the users to be hungry to know more about the services. So the cta button is what we want them to click.

This will be the page a user will see first when he clicks the facebook ad. Then when he clicks on the CTA button, he will then be taken to the main index page of the website. From there, he will find every information he wants. Is the message on the landing page strong enough. Is there something I am missing?
