HAPPY MARRIED LIFE MRS NMESOMA OBI OBASI

Today, I was a guest at the wedding ceremony of the daughter of the Bishop, Diocese of Nnewi (Anglican Communion), Rt Rev Ndubuisi Obi. During the ceremony which took place at the St Andrew’s Diocesan Church Center (DCC) Nnewi, I prayed for more grace upon the bride Nmesoma and her husband Chinonso. I also urged them to remain prayerful and focused as they enter the next phase of their lives.

I also appreciated God for his favour upon the two families and urged them to maintain close relationship with God. Marriage is a beautiful institution and may God continue to guide, protect and bless Mr Chinonso Obasi and his wife, Mrs Nmesoma Obi Obasi.

Children Are Valuable Assets Of The Nation & Hope For Tomorrow; Sen Ifeany Ubah

PoliticsChildren Are Valuable Assets Of The Nation & Hope For Tomorrow; Sen Ifeany Ubah by grassrootsig(op):
CHILDREN ARE VALUABLE ASSETS OF THE NATION AND HOPE FOR TOMORROW

May 27th is an international holiday set aside to specially celebrate children, raise awareness on issues that affect them, and help us appreciate that they are the future of the society. It is a day observed for the purpose of sober reflection on factors, situations, and conditions that affect the life and future of our children.

The theme for this year's celebration is, “Inclusion, for every child”. This theme means that every child belonging to any society, community, or nationality is entitled to equal rights.

Children are valuable assets as well as the future and hope of tomorrow. It is therefore our collective responsibility as parents, teachers and caregivers to carefully nurture and provide them with a safe environment both at home and school and also take measures to protect their childhood as they are our young minds who will in the future, support our country to grow optimistically with novel ideas and innovations.

I am of the firm belief that we all must come together and take a pledge to ensure that issues such as poor enrollment of children in schools, Child Marriage, Child Labour and all forms of violence against Children are tackled and eradicated in Nigeria.

Celebrating Children's Day just as a convention is not enough. Rather, we should collectively take certain measures to protect their childhood as they are our young minds who will support our country's growth in the future. It, therefore, behoves every parent, guardian, and relevant institution to endeavour to provide great opportunities for our children to grow with dignity.

Children's Day is an occasion where we all should collectively take an oath for the safety of our children. The growing rate of crime against children in our society today should serve as adequate motivation for all to rise and ensure that our children are properly educated not just by impacting formal education on them but by also making it our duty to make them aware of the social evils prevalent in our society. They should be provided with a good and safe environment both at home and school in order to aid their sustained development and wellbeing.

As we mark this year's Children's Day, it is my earnest prayer that our kids grow in the atmosphere of love, wisdom, discernment, and attain their life potentials and God-given talents.

I congratulate our children once again and also congratulate their teachers who are helping to shape their future. I pray that our children will be successful and bring honour to our families, states, and nation.

I felicitate with you and wish you all a happy Children's Day!

PoliticsSen Ifeanyi Ubah On Why Nigeria As A Country Should Respect Ndigbo by grassrootsig(op): 12:46pm On May 10, 2023
Since Nigerian independence, ndị Igbo have been adding serious values to the country economically, socially and politically. In the present fourth republic, the Senator representing Anambra South Dr Ifeanyi Ubah in his first tenure, sponsored the Deep Offshore Bill, the only Bill taken to the President outside the shores of the country to sign due to its national importance. The Bill did not only make history because it was the first and only Bill signed by the Nigerian President in foreign land but it was also unique because it earns Nigeria 800 billion naira annually (2.5 billion naira daily).

This heroic achievement championed by Senator Ubah has been commended by many senior citizens including the President-Elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and some people still think that ndị Igbo have not sacrificed enough for the country to earn them the post of Senate President in the 10th Assembly.

Think of this and respect Ndigbo or #AreWeNotPartOfNigeria? #LetUsHaveARethink.

PoliticsSenate President, South East Need It In Order To Balance The Equation: Sen Ubah by grassrootsig(op): 11:34am On May 09, 2023
Senate President, South East need it in order to balance the equation: Sen Ifeanyi Ubah.

Senator Ifeanyi Ubah on Monday maintained that the South-East region deserves the Senate Presidency seat despite the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) zoning the position to the South-South.

The lawmaker representing Anambra South argued that if the South-East produces the next leader of the upper lawmaking body, it would help in strengthening the unity of the country.

“For me and our people from the South-East, we are still very strong in contesting for the office of the Senate President of Nigeria for the 10th Senate. That is our position for now,” he said on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

“So, in the course of consultation, we would continue to update Nigerians about our position. But for now, I am still in this studio, the position of the South-East caucus [of the Senate] is that we are going to contest for the Senate President of Nigeria.”

‘Balance the Equation’
His comment comes hours after the APC zoned the key leadership of the Senate, sidelining the South-East region which has been clamouring for the Senate Presidency to be zoned to the region.

Despite the move, Senator Ubah maintained that South-East senators have unanimously agreed that the position should come to the region.

“That is our position for now,” he said, listing Orji Kalu and Osita Izunaso as capable of taking the post.

He said lawmakers from the region will, however, meet to finalise plans to pick a candidate.

While the South-East gave the ruling APC the least votes in the 2023 presidential election, Senator Ubah argued that for the sake of fairness, there should be a “balance of the equation” in the distribution of key positions in Nigeria.

“I think after the presidential election, I think equity demands that we would sit down and look at every region because we are talking about Nigeria,” the lawmaker added.

“Nigeria is not divided on who brings the vote and who does not bring the vote. Are we not part of Nigeria?”

CALLS ON THE PRESIDENT-ELECT TO END THE PERCEIVED MARGINALIZATION OF THE SOUTH EAST BY RESISTING THE PLOT TO TAKE THE SENATE PRESIDENCY TO ANOTHER ZONE

INSISTS IT WILL SUPPORT ANY CANDIDATE OF IGBO EXTRACTION FOR SENATE PRESIDENCY

The Senators Elect from the South East Zone rose from a meeting held today at the maitama residence of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah with a demand for an end to the perceived marginalisation of Ndi Igbo in the affairs of the country.

The South East Senate Caucus, at the end of the meeting that lasted several hours, came up with the following resolutions.

• They observed with dismay the antics of persons with vested selfish interests who having planted themselves around the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu vowed to shut out the South East from the Senate Presidency of the 10th Senate, which to them is unfortunate.

• They stressed that beyond ethnic and religious considerations, in the forthcoming 10th Senate, the Southeast is blessed with ranking Senators-elect including members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) who have the cranial capacity, competence, influence, experience and political followership to pilot the affairs of the Red Chamber, stressing that it becomes imperative that the All Progressives Congress upholds the Principle of Natural Justice and Equity which it preaches, by zoning the seat of Senate President to the South East region.

• They opined that the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu should extend the same democratic opportunity he received from the outgoing administration which gave all aspirants equal opportunity to exercise their fundamental and constitutional rights during the APC Presidential Primaries and should be conscious of the grave implications of zoning and endorsing a candidate from the South-South without any regard for the Southeast, as such moves will no doubt serve as a recipe for Injustice which will culminate to restiveness in the 10th Senate.

• They, therefore, implored the President-elect to be sensitive to the times in Nigeria and ensure that the country continues to thrive on the stance of equity, unity and fairness to the tripod of Nigeria (Hausa Igbo and Yoruba) and the geopolitical zones.

• They, however, opined that the country is already divided along ethnic and religious lines due to the exclusion of the Southeast region, which formed the major reason, the APC received the number of votes from the Southeast and therefore asked the incoming Administration of Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu to correct this anomaly by ensuring that the Southeast is allowed to produce the next Senate President.

• They lamented the side-lining of the Southeast from producing the Presidential candidates of the two major political parties before the general elections and stressed that the only means through which the zone can be compensated and given a sense of belonging is for the zone to produce the next Senate President as this will restore confidence of the people from the south-east and indeed all Nigerians in the unity of the country.

• They called on the APC as a matter of national urgency to rise above primordial and political interests and shun the winner takes all syndrome by pursuing ethnoreligious inclusivity and a strong, virile, united, progressive, prosperous, equitable and just democratic nation

• They queried how an average Igbo man would feel if they were to be handed this humiliation as the president-elect begins his tenure bearing in mind that the South East has been denied the chance of producing the president of Nigeria since 1966.
The South South having produced president for six years and also had Deputy Senate President in the outgoing administration. The only zone in the South that has not been favoured is the South East.

• They insisted that the outcry of marginalization by the South East and the entire Igbo should be addressed by the incoming administration rather than aggravating it. The South West has President, the North East has Vice President, it is only just that the least position at the moment that can assuage the South East is the chance to be the President of the 10th Senate.

• On this note, they collectively resolved to support the Southeast aspirants of the APC. They remain committed and have since expanded negotiations with other well-meaning Senators-elect to rally round the South East to ensure that justice, fairness, and unity of the country prevail.

• They remain hopeful that together they shall achieve a harmonious 10th Senate and deepen democracy, fairness, and the unity of our dear country.

The senators who attended the meeting and signed the communique include
Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Senator Osita Izunaso, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, Senator Victor Umeh, Senator Ezenwa Oyewuchi, Senator Tony Nwoye, Senator PC Ndubueze, Senator Okey Ezea, Senator Kelvin Chukwu and Senator Osita Ngwu.

PoliticsSen Ifeanyi Ubah’s Strategy To End Insecurity In Anambra Yielding Results. by grassrootsig(op):
SENATOR IFEANYI UBAH’S STRATEGY TO END INSECURITY IN ANAMBRA YIELDING RESULTS, A MODEL TO COPY BY ALL SOUTH EAST STATES

As the people of South-East Geopolitical Zone battle insecurity that has disrupted businesses and put them in deep fear, the Senator representing Anambra South Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah has taken overwhelming actions to support security agencies in protecting lives and properties. The amazing side of these is that despite an unwarranted attack on his convoy by gunmen which sent two of his aides and some security personnel attached to him to early graves on September 11, 2022, at Nkwo Enugwu-Ukwu, the Senator has never relented in putting in strong measures to checkmate activities of the criminals.

In line with popular belief that charity begins at home, the re-elected Anambra South Senator commenced action in his Senatorial Zone through the “Operation Light-Up and Secure Anambra South Project” which ensured that units of Solar powered Light-Emitting Diode (LED) light system which were aimed at supporting security agencies in fighting crimes in various parts of the district were installed in all Wards. The Light-Up project was followed by a test-run of a security network system that featured installation of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) gadgets, training and recruitment of hundreds of youths into the Community Vigilante Service, as well as distribution of five hundred units of walkie-talkie to the Vigilantes and provision of over two thousand wooden poles to the security outfits for use as road blocks in cases of emergency in Nnewi. The Senator has also together with stakeholders, carried out enlightenment and sensitization programmes on Radio in order to keep both his constituents and security personnel informed on the efforts championed to secure lives and properties.

It is important to note that while the test-run of the new security network system which shall also be implemented in other parts of Anambra South was taking place in Nnewi, the headquarters of Anambra South Senatorial District, Senator Ubah unlike other legislators who relocated to Abuja after the election, chose to be with his people in order to find lasting solution to insecurity. He donated twelve Sienna Vehicles and twenty motorcycles to Nnewi Vigilante Service to assist the vigilantes in taking immediate actions in cases of emergency exposed by the CCTV installations or reported through the walkie-talkies. These huge donations came after a strategic meeting between the Senator, executive members of Nzukora Nnewi and Nnewi Concerned Citizens at Anaedo Hall, Nnewi.

Since the test-run of the security network system kicked off in Nnewi, Security in the town has drastically improved as several kidnap attempts were foiled. The recent case was an attempt to kidnap the Plant Unit Head of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), Nnewi Mr Okechukwu Okafor while he was returning from work at Obiofia Nnewichi. Immediately the incident was exposed by the CCTV gadgets, the Central Command of the Nnewi Vigilante Service communicated all the command units in the town through the walkie-talkie and called on the Nnewichi Command to move into action immediately. Following the emergency report which came in the middle of the night, Senator Ubah contacted the Control Unit of the Security Network and thereafter, contacted the Chief Medical Director of NAUTH Dr Joseph Ugboaja to confirm the identity of the victim, and as soon as the victim was confirmed as the Plant Unit Head of the Teaching Hospital, the Vigilante together with the Senator and with the aid of the CCTV, traced the kidnappers to Nkwọ-Nkwọ road along Cathedral Church of St Mary axis where they abandoned their vehicles and the victim immediately they sighted the patrol team. The victim who is still traumatised later came to the Senator’s residence with the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) of NAUTH Dr Ugochukwu Ezejofor and other members of the Teaching Hospital management to appreciate the Senator, Nzukora Nnewi, Nnewi Concerned Citizens and Nnewi Vigilante Service for saving his life. Mr Okafor who couldn’t talk much due to trauma appreciated the Senator and the aforementioned groups for saving him from the hands of the blood thirsty criminals.

In furtherance of his efforts to provide lasting solution to insecurity in the southeast especially in Anambra South and following the popular saying that an idle mind is the devil’s workshop, Senator Ubah has also executed several empowerment programmes to provide his constituents especially the youths with means of livelihood. During the empowerment programmes, hundreds of youths received assorted working tools and equipment like Sewing Machines, Electric Grinding Machines, Tricycles, Motorcycles, Electric Generators, Point of Sale (POS) Kiosks with POS Machines and Solar Energy Facilities equipped with various charging ports. The Senator has also in partnership with agencies of the federal government like the National Directorate of Employment, National Productivity Centre and Nigerian Ports Authority, executed various skill acquisition programmes through which hundreds of youths from Anambra South Senatorial District were trained and empowered in various fields such as Fashion and Design, Perfume Production, Shampoo Production, Body Cream Production, Soap Production and Make-over, and the contributions of these in the fight against insecurity in Anambra South Senatorial Zone cannot be overemphasized.

Note that as a Senator that knows the importance of consultation and functions of various arms of government, Senator Ubah has duly consulted with Anambra State Governor Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo and has been in constant communication with him over the security of lives and properties of ndị Anambra especially the people of Anambra South Senatorial District which is also the governor’s Senatorial Zone, and the above actions taken have the blessings of the governor. In fact, the governor personally attended the flag-off ceremony of the “Operation Light-Up and Secure Anambra South Project” at the Ifeanyi Ubah International Stadium, Nnewi-Ozubulu. During the event, the governor who proudly addressed Senator Ubah as his Senator expressed joy on the uncommon achievements made by him especially in areas of security within a short period of four years.

Indeed, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah has broken records that other political leaders in the Southeast should emulate. His diplomatic and practical approaches are second to none, no wonder ndị Anambra South unanimously re-elected him to represent them for another term of four years. It is popularly said that when the righteous is on the throne the people rejoice but with Senator Ifeanyi representing the People of Anambra South in the Red Chamber, it is comfortable to say that when the righteous, practically oriented and well prepared leader is on the throne, the people do not only rejoice but have cause to proudly call themselves citizens. Congratulations ndị Anambra South, you are blessed with a true representative.

SEN. IFEANYI UBAH'S BILL ON SECURITY, PASS SECOND READING AT THE SENATE PLENARY.

...as the Senator Makes a Strong Case for His Bill to Establish the National Institute for Security Studies in Orumba South, Anambra State, at Senate Plenary

The senator representing Anambra South senatorial district Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah, has made a good case to the senate at plenary today, for further consideration of his bill; “A Bill for the Establishment of the National Institute for Security Studies Orumba South Anambra State”, by the senate.

The Bill, which was first introduced to the 9th Senate by Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah, on the 27th of November 2019,seeks to provide platforms for a broader outlook, intellectual depth, and the capacity to deal optimally with deep insight into the development and utilization of available resources towards managing complex security challenges facing the country.

While leading the debate for the bill to be considered for second reading, Senator Ubah explained that when passed, the Bill will fine-tune and hasten solutions to Nigeria’s enormous security challenges. “The Institute, when established, will conceptualize, inform, and enhance the debate on human security in Nigeria in order to support policy formulation and decision-making at every level”.

Offering more explanations on the nature and essence of the Institute, Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah, in his lead debate, said that the Institute, when established, would offer holistic academic interrogation of security issues in a way and manner that offers practical and real solutions to challenges. According to Sen. Ubah, “The Institute will work towards a stable and peaceful Nigeria characterized by sustainable development, respect for human rights, and the rule of law.” Ubah also argued that the Institute will promote values that are consistent with Nigeria’s desire for holistic and sustainable development.

Further explanations provided by Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah indicates that the Institute upon establishment will run both full-time and part-time courses relating to security studies, intelligence and other fields of study leading to the award of ordinary national diploma(OND), higher national diploma (HND),including certifications in specialized programmes. Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah also remarked that the Institute would also serve as a research hub in security and related areas.

While seconding the bill, Senator Uche Ekwunife, the senator representing Anambra Central senatorial district ,said that the precarious security situation in the country caused by the vacuum in intelligence gathering makes the bill a very crucial one.According to Sen. Ekwunife, security is local all over the world, and the country lacks an establishment that caters to local security needs of the people apart from conventional security.

The Bill, which unanimously passed second reading, was referred to the committee on establishment and other public matters for further legislative action and mandated to report back in two weeks.

Ifeanyi Ubah's Clever Blend Of Advanced Artificial Intelligence With Native Technology In Tackling Insecurity In Anambra South, A Master Stroke

By Kamen Chuks Ogbonna

Safety,in its wildest sense ,concerns the happiness, contentment, and freedom of mankind.

The highest law of any society should be hinged upon the safety and security of the citizenry. Security sets the tone for the economic growth and deployment of basic amenities in any sane society

The decision taken by the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District,Senator(Dr.) Ifeanyi Ubah, to personally take up the responsibility of championing the cause of eradicating insecurity from the zone is a highly timely and welcome development.

The effect of the criminal activities that ravaged the zone in the last few years has been devastating, to say the least. While the indices of lives of youths lost in the zone are alarming, and the general feeling of insecurity has had a negative impact on the socio-economic development of the area.

Senator Ifeanyi Ubah's decision to tackle insecurity using a combination of advanced artificial intelligence and native technology is a master stroke. This approach combines the best of modern technology with the knowledge and expertise of the local people to create a comprehensive solution to the problem of insecurity.

By leveraging artificial intelligence, Senator Ubah is able to analyze large amounts of data to identify patterns and predict potential security threats. This allows for a more proactive approach to security rather than simply reacting to incidents as they occur. Additionally, the use of native technology, such as community policing and the involvement of local leaders, ensures that the solutions are tailored to the specific needs and challenges of the area.

Overall, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah's approach to tackling insecurity in Anambra South is a model that can be replicated in other areas facing similar challenges.

The idea bearer Senator, by combining advanced technology with local knowledge and expertise, has clearly demonstrated that it is possible to create a more effective and sustainable solution to the problem of insecurity.

In creating the carefully thought out security scheme, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Ubah was able to deploy communications gadgets(over 400 walkie-talkies),close circuit television monitors with secured reception centres already in place and functioning, long range drones, vehicles, motorcycles and .....(wait for it),wooden barricades placed at strategic locations around the town ready for use in shutting down vehicular movements at a moment's notice in the event of any security breach.

The vigilante operatives are also being carefully profiled and placed on life insurance schemes with other mouth-watering renumerations necessary for optimum service delivery.

With the huge successes already being recorded by the ongoing security architecture, the move towards extending same to the other Local Government Areas that make up the Senatorial District will soon commence in earnest.

Indeed, the people truly rejoice when the Selfless is in power

Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah is indeed an idea bearer with a difference.
