What is the problem with our great country? How can any sane person who claimed to love Nigeria call for an impeachment now? Let all the people clamouring for GEJ’s seat wait till 2015 to test their popularity in the elections and not use back door to get power. The president also needs to begin to act as one. It is high time he changed his cabinet. There are lots of dead wood, and fifth columnists in government. He seems to have lost control of things and just praying to God to fix things, when God as put him there to act. |
Anything all to move this country forward acceptable |

With this type of meeting Tinubu and APC in southwest are in trouble but let us wait till after the meeting. We pray that the meeting go well for the development of Nigeria as a whole and not for sheer egocentric and self centered plans. I wish them Goodluck |

GEj should as a matter of urgency without fear or favor, arrest all the corrupt government functionaries both the ex and present. Including OBJ, IBB, ATIKU etc. By taking action, no one will henceforth call you dumb. Forget 2015 and damn the consequence of your action. |
Orlando Owoh: FYI SW governors proposed to reconstruct the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway when the FG was delaying. Because of this shame on the FG, they could not call the governors of Lagos and Oyo states to witness ground breaking ceremony to mark its reconstruction when the FG finally wanted to start the work. What's this 1 saying? |

The traditional ruler of Nachi community, His Royal Highness, Igwe F. O. Onuigbo, Obi II of Nachi, in his own submission said the water has been there for a very long time, adding that the healing power ascribed to it was only a recent phenomenon which he did not confirm. “River Nachi is natural water which has been there for a very long time which people use for their cooking, drinking and washing. The healing power is something new and I have not visited the place. But the water has been there before. People said it is healing; I can’t stop anybody from going there to seek cure and healing. I have no right to do that.” On the pattern surge, Igwe Onuigbo said he didn’t know about the coming and occasional surge of the water. “I do no know of that” He confirmed that the land where the water is situated has been in dispute between Ameke and Umuaga for a very long time, adding that efforts are on-going to resolve the issue between the two communities amicably. History of the water Chief Ignatius Chikeluba, a Chief in Umuaga-Nachi, who claimed the farm land belongs to his father, gave historical perspective of the stream. “According to my own father, Ogbonnaya Ene Chikeluba, there was a man called Aniene, a native of Umuaga, he was the first man who saw the water. He used to be a farmer in the area. He came out one morning to discover the sudden surge of the water. He ran out to call others that were farming in the area to witness it. At that point, the water was named Miri Aniene. This happened long time before I was born, it was never known as having healing powers. We used it to wash cloths, cassava and other culinary activities. It used to surge after every seven years. After the war, it came in 1972, 1979, 1986, 1994, 2000, 2005 and now 2013. When it comes, it is usually there until the next raining season. It is deterred by the rain or sun shine, it comes at any season of the year. We have never worshipped the water before.” “Before it came this year, there were Fulani herdsmen who live in that farm; they always take their cattle there to drink from the water. So, recently, a group of people came to my house, I recognised one of them who had lived there before, and I asked curiously whether he wanted to return to the farm again and he said no. But he said that the water which used to spring up had sprung up again and that it has healing power – curing all kinds of ailments. I told him that we don’t know about that. He said they discovered the healing power of the water the last time it came and they asked the herdsmen to be monitoring it. So, the Fulani herdsmen who have been monitoring it informed immediately it came out. After a while, another group of herdsmen came and said the same thing. But I pointed it out to them that their cattle had damaged my farm and they should do something about it and they moved away from the area. But surprisingly, after some time, another group of people came this time, with some Igbos. I was the one who cleared the way to the river. I have palm tree in that place, banana plantation, cola-nut trees, orange among others. It is a farm settlement of Umuaga. At this junction, I want to state that the Nachi people have been trying to encroach on the land claiming it belongs to them, but it belongs to the people of Umuaga. The water is from God. And whoever says the water has not been there is trying to pull the wool over our faces. My house is there, and the water has been there. The king who does not know Joseph will not know Joseph was buried. I was born there and my father’s house is still there now. To, me it is the Fulani herdsmen that are responsible for this misinformation. Throughout the period I stayed in the farmland, we have never heard about the story of healing power being ascribed to the water. It is a concoction of the Fulani herdsmen. I know that the revelation of God can come through any body but my advice to them is that whatever they are saying, should be the whole truth and nothing but the truth.” I don’t believe it — Rev Fr Chikezie Cypril a.k.a Okanga Jesus Rev Father Chikezie Cypril a.k.a Okanga Jesus is the Parish Priest, St. Michael Catholic Church, Oji, Enugu and also the Chaplain of the Care for the Physically Challenged in the area. He spoke to Saturday Vanguard on the healing power of Pool of Bethesda. The mystery river that is said to be healing is happening in your parish, what can you say about it? I am privileged that this is taking place in my parish, but unfortunately, I have not gone there to see what is happening there, but I have seen a lot of people going there for healing. For the fact that I have not been there does not mean I wouldn’t know whether what is going on there is good or bad. My opinion is that it is better to seek God than seeking the blessing of God. This is because if you seek God, the blessing of God will come your way. If you seek the face of God, you will get the hand of God. Unfortunately people think that God is not alive to their problem. Most people who go there are those who have little or no time for the word of God and they spend a lot of time there waiting for their turn. If only they can spend their time for God, healing will come their way. That is why I will not find the time to go there because there is nothing better than seeking God. But we heard that Rev. Mbaka was there and he prayed at the river? Maybe he went there to know what is happening, but also remember that Mbaka is not God. It does not matter whether the Bishop or the Pope was there or not, what matters is that people should seek God. What about those who don’t have the opportunity to go there, do you mean they will not be healed? I see it as a kind of madness when people go there and take bath while they also take the same water and drink. But one funny thing about it is that, I don’t believe it. I am the chaplain of the physically challenged and none of them has come to me that they are healed and this is happening in their area. I mean not even one person has come to confirm it. I know that most of them have gone there and nothing is happening. So, you see, people tend to confuse you with certain things. As I am speaking to you, no member of this my community has come to me to share a testimony about the water. I know if it is real as people tend to portray it, one or two persons in the community must have been noticed and if we see it, we will be the promoter. You see, one has to be very sensible about it; a lot of people are making money on this situation. For example, if you tell the Okada riders who are making money from the situation that it is not real, they will say you don’t know what you are talking about. But let us trust God, power belongs to God. It is when we commune with God that we see the power of God in our lives. I see those who go there as spiritual puppets. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/12/bizzare-naked-bath-pool-bethesda/ |
The mysterious pool, called Orimiri located in a forest about 3km from the Nachi bus-stop along Onitsha/Enugu old road, allegedly heals all kinds of ailments after it was discovered by a Fulani herdsman recently. Since the discovery, the community has become a pilgrimage center with no fewer than 3000 people thronging the place daily. From morning till 6pm daily, okada ply through that narrow and sandy path carrying passengers and their loads of jerry cans to the stream. When Saturday Vanguard visited the stream, scores of people especially women were seen naked dipping their bodies in the already contaminated stream in the quest for healing. As those with tumor, sores and injuries wash their bodies without any reservation, the physically challenged were being assisted by their relatives for thorough bath. Others were busy scooping up water from different holes dug around the bank into their plastic containers of various sizes. The people’s craze for healing was also seen as they collect sands from the stream into cellophane bags to their homes believing even the sands under the water was as effective as the stream itself. The trees in the surroundings were also not spared as people chop trees into various sizes with a claim that it cures all kinds of sicknesses. But none of these miracle seekers at the stream as at the time of visit could give a clear testimony of the healing he or she had received. Most of them who spoke with us opined that they believe it will work. A middle aged woman, who refused to give her real names who never suspected she was talking to the press, said: “I just came here for to exercise my faith. I have not seen any one though, but I believe it. I just had a bath in the water and I believe it. I believe God that I will be okay.” But Donatus Ike, who claims he has been coming to the stream on a daily basis since the news of the healing power broke said: “I always come here every day to work; I guide people in doing certain things here. The water has healing power. A lot of people came from far and near. Not too long ago, Rev. Mbaka came here, he prayed for people. The lame will work, the blind will see. You can see a crutch over there; it was dropped by somebody who couldn’t work.” Amobi Chukwu in his own view said: “I think it is all about faith. What you call medicine is medicine for you. I also believe the water has healing power. The water is dirty and it was because a lot of people come here and bath inside the water and you know this is not a flowing river. That is why people dig the river bank to get better water to drink. It is drinkable.” But the controversies surrounding the healing power of the stream, began to unfold as Rev. Father Chikezie Cypril a.k.a Okanga Jesus, the Parish Priest, St. Michael Catholic Church, Oji, Enugu described those who seek healing from the stream are spiritual puppets. Cypril who is also the Chaplain of the Physically Challenged in the area said, said he has not heard from any of the physically challenged in his domain that one person had been healed from the water. “I don’t believe it. I am the chaplain of the physically challenged and none of them has come to me to give that testimony of healing; and this is happening in their area. I mean not even one person has come to confirm it. I know that most of them have gone there and nothing is happening. So, you see, people tend to confuse you with certain things. As I am speaking to you, no member of this community has shared a testimony about the water.” In the same vein, Chief Ignatius Ene Chikeluba who claimed he was born in the farmland gave an insight into the beginning of the whole parody. He stated that it was the Fulani herdsmen who concocted and spread the story of healing power without any clear evidence. “Throughout the period I stayed in the farmland, we have never heard about the healing power being ascribed to the water. It is a concoction of the Fulani herdsmen. I know that revelation from God can come through any body but my advice to them is that whatever they are saying should be the whole truth and nothing but the truth,” Chikeluba stated. |
By Ishola Balogun The news fly all around and the hitherto serene community becomes busy playing host to people from far and near seeking miracle healing to their ailments in a stream that sprang up suddenly. The physically challenged, the aged, young, men and women including people with different kinds of sicknesses throng the pool in droves, dip themselves naked in the 3-4feet deep stagnated water, wash the ailing parts of their bodies believing they are healed. Although the testimonies were not forth coming, the lame, blind still assisted with mixed feelings, believed that they will be healed. click the link for pictures RATED 18 http://community.vanguardngr.com/photo/album/show?id=4565467%3AAlbum%3A804417&xg_source=activity |

Sincere 9gerian: I can see OPERATION BLAME IT ON JONATHAN alive and active on this thread. Dont these FOOLS know that the judiciary is an independent and different ARM of govt? So in the opinion of these Tinubu slaves, who are the promoters of OPERATION BLAME ON JONATHAN, Jonathan also controls the Supreme Court. But when the Code Of Conduct Bureau freed their master, Tinubu, they are hailed the judgment. Hypocrites |
pro01: Some of you are hopelessly daft. Can you establish that the president influenced the SUPREME COURT judgment? If not, then why drag his name into the matter? The supposed progressive |
Of course this was going to be the outcome all along as the judge that jailed him erred in law. EFCC’s evidence was flawed and inconclusive but i guess the case was politically influenced in Lagos then. Shady work by EFCC and inept judgement by the the lower courts will always be thrown out by the supreme court. I followed the case when he was initially jailed and most of the evidence against him should have been thrown out by the presiding judge. I am not in any way saying Bode George is not corrupt cos 99% of Nigerians are.. What i am saying is that the court need solid and impeccable evidence to convict people and not rely on emotions or political interference as displayed in this case |

ManiCypher: Major Hamza Al-Mustapha yesterday challenged Chief Olusegun Obasanjo to produce evidence on his claims that President Jonathan interfered with the murder trial of the late General Abacha’s former chief security officer. Al-Mustapha, who is abroad, also denied being used to run an assassination squad to target Jonathan’s political opponents ahead 2015 elections. In his December 2 letter to the President, Obasanjo said Jonathan interfered with the court process to set a murderer free, and organised a presidential reception for him. The former president did not name names, but it was obvious he was referring to Al-Mustapha who was freed by the Court of Appeal in July over the murder of the late Kudirat Abiola. Al-Mustapha’s counsel Barrister Olalekan Ojo yesterday challenged Obasanjo to produce evidence to support his claims. In his 18-page letter to Jonathan, Obasanjo said: “Presidential assistance for a murderer to evade justice and presidential delegation to welcome him home can only be in bad taste generally but particularly to the family of his victim. “Assisting criminals to evade justice cannot be part of the job of the presidency. Or, as it is viewed in some quarters, is he being recruited to do for you what he had done for Abacha in the past? Hopefully, he should have learned his lesson. Let us continue to watch.” In his reaction, Ojo told Daily Trust: “To the best of my knowledge, President Jonathan never organised or sponsored any welcome rally to Al-Mustapha after his release.” Al-Mustapha had been in detention for 14 years before he was acquitted by the Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal, after being sentenced to death by a Lagos High Court. Ojo said, “The impression (of Obasanjo’s letter) is that the Court of Appeal caved into pressure from President Jonathan, to that extent, the comment is disturbing, worrisome and unwarranted. “The judiciary should be left alone and not be dragged into politics. The Justices of the Court of Appeal in Lagos that sat over the case are jurists of impeccable character and it is not fair for anybody, no matter how well-placed, to attack the integrity of these judges. We challenge Obasanjo to produce evidence of such interference to make it available to the public.” He added: “My client was discharged and acquitted on the merit of his appeal. Majority of those who commented on the judgment expressed satisfaction. It is most unfortunate that a person like OBJ could accuse the President of using his exalted office for such a sinister and morally reprehensible thing. It must be stated that if OBJ has any issue to settle with the President, he should not drag Al Mustapha into it.” On the allegation that Al-Mustapha is being used by Jonathan to run an assassination squad, Ojo said that the accusation was a demonstration of the enormous hatred Obasanjo harboured for Al-Mustapha. “At no time has he been involved in any such thing. It is totally false. Al- Mustapha is earnestly committed to the promotion of peace and harmony in Nigeria. It is most unfair that such an allegation should be made against him. It is an attempt to give a dog a bad name to hang him. When Al-Mustapha returns (from abroad) he will make a fuller response,” Ojo said. Meanwhile, Obasanjo and Jonathan met yesterday at the Intercontinental Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya, where they had a private breakfast together. This was the first time they are appearing at the same place since Obasanjo’s letter became public on Wednesday. Jonathan and Obasanjo were in Kenya to attend its 50th Independence anniversary which was held yesterday. Immediately after their breakfast, Obasanjo left for the venue of the independence anniversary. No official statement was issued on the meeting. Mind of Nigerians The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) yesterday said Obasanjo’s letter to Jonathan represented the views of Nigerians. ACF spokesman Anthony Sani said: “While it may be indecorous for the former president to leak altercations between him and a sitting president well known to be his political vassal, it is more indecorous for the presidency to resort to uncouth language for replies. “And that is why I plead with the media and the public to concentrate on the issues raised and not on how they have been presented. On the whole, except perhaps the aspect of Mr President arming snipers, the former president has said what most Nigerians know.” Also yesterday, Vice President Atiku Abubakar urged leaders who Obasanjo said he consulted before writing his letter to intervene, to “reduce the tension created by former President Obasanjo’s weighty allegations.” In a statement by his media office, Abubakar said he was nervous about the allegations made by the former President and that those elders mentioned by “Obasanjo had a moral duty to add their voices to the issue.” The statement said “the allegations were too disturbing to be treated with apathy by any political stakeholder like him. (Abubakar) said at a moment of national anxiety or uncertainty, leaders across the country should rise to the occasion and reassure fellow Nigerians about the future.” Abubakar added: “That said, it is on record that I have firmly fought for a democracy where the voters choose their future leaders, not political party bosses. If the incumbent President insists on continuing to destroy his own party with vindictive internal wars and thinks his record of rising youth unemployment, never-ending violence, corruption and scandals is worthy of another term, then he is welcome to run. We are confident Nigerians will exercise their democratic right to choose new leadership in 2015.” Constitutional lawyer, Prof. Itse Sagay, also expressed anxiety over the content of Obasanjo’s letter. On the alleged watch list of 1000 Nigerians and training snipers, Sagay said, “It is a very serious allegations and it could set the whole country on a state of alert and anxiety… the one that even frightens me most is the allegations snipers are being trained in the same school where the Abacha killer squads were trained and there are some Nigerians under political watch list. “That is very frightening because it is not something you expect under a under a civilian democratic regime except under a military dictatorship. So, it is very frightening and I am very unsettled about it particularly given what happened to Prof. Iyayi whose cause of death has not yet been resolved. It is very, very disturbing.” Also, senior lawyer Femi Falana urged the Presidency not to dismiss Obasanjo’s allegations. “Instead of dismissing the contents of the letter the Presidency should respond to the allegations raised therein seriatim. In particular, the allegation that the Federal Government is setting up a Presidential Strike Force to carry out terrorist attacks on political opponents should not be swept under the carpet,” he said in a statement yesterday. But Falana said Obasanjo was also guilty of the kind of offiences he accused Jonathan of, including condoning corruption, ethnic politics and insincerity in covening a national conference. Also speaking, Chief Ladi Rotimi- Williams urged Jonathan to take the corrections offered by Obasanjo in good faith and act fast to prevent the nation from drifting further. “The President will be doing a great disservice to himself if he considers the content of the letter as insultive rather than taking appropriate action on the issue discussed,” he said. Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ikeja branch, Mr. Monday Ubani, said Obasanjo’s allegations were grievous. “And if those allegations are true, then something needs to be done very fast in order to nip all those things in the bud. “Clearly, Nigeria is on the verge of liquidation and if you place over 1,000 people on watch list and you are going to use snipers to eliminate them as the President of the country, then that is very grave for this country,” he said. Former Lagos State Police Commissioner, Alhaji Abubakar Tsav, said the letter was quite “timely and appropriate.” Tsav, who spoke in Makurdi, urged the National Assembly to commence impeachment process against the president. “The letter by Obj is timely and appropriate considering the deterioration of the quality of governance in the country and astronomical rise in corruption and the enhancement of the culture of impunity,” he said. “It is not malicious, self serving or hypocritical. Obasanjo has spoken the truth. He brought in Jonathan and has the right to advice and correct him if he veers off the path of honour as he is now doing.” by the Court of Appeal in July over the murder of the late Kudirat Abiola.
