I first noticed this when I had the misfortune of serving in Nasarawa state. In almost every secondary school in Awe local government there were at least 10 corpers for every teacher. My friends who served in other parts of the North like Kebbi and Jigawa told me it was the same experience for them. Meanwhile, most of the principals in these schools would not pay the corpers any salary, forcing the corpers to rely on their allowances.
