An extra bonus for the shrewd entrepreneur in this country is that there exists a vast pool of exceptionally ignorant people to exploit repeatedly. Nairaland comments are a testament to that and this thread is their bible. |

Realtalk20: Smh
I wasn't referring to trains as a whole seems it's hard for you to comprehend?
I said we don't need a link bye ph and maiduguri
Simple !!! Link it to Lagos and instead repair all the federal roads linking south to north
Make them concrete casting and even a 300 tonne submarine won't damage them Bros, did it ever occur to your in the process when you were thinking before typing that the reconstruction of the narrow gauge line between PH to Borno state would also positively affect the socio-economic sectors of EACH of the over 10 or more states that rail line would pass through as regards trade, easing of transportation/haulage bottlenecks and a reduction of heavy duty traffic on the numerous highways connecting same states thereby further prolonging the viability of such roads while also reducing vehicular accidents occasioned by heavy duty trucks? Or did you just see the word "Maiduguri" and then boom! Your sense of logic shutdown and you went into the typical Nigerian stereotypical over-drive mode? Do you seriously think the cost of removing the current asphalted materials on the highways connecting PH to Maiduguri and then replacing them with a non-flexible pavements (what you call concrete roads) wouldn't cost way more than that amount budgeted for the rail line? Keep in mind that the average cost of a single Y16 rebar which is only 12 meters long is N5000. Yeah, you guessed right. I'm a construction professional. I have a very good idea of what I'm saying. Let's not even get started on the disruption of traffic flow between PH and Maiduguri should your proposed project begin and it's effect on the socio-economic health of ALL the states which depend on those routes for trade, travel, et al. The government is right on this one even though there are many other things we can diss them for. |

selemempe: if everyone thought like you and fought for nothing, blacks will still be slaves in Europe and America today Drop it please. You don't know the half of how revolutionary some of us have tried to be in this country offline where it matters most. I used to be like you, dissing and complaining about everything bad in this country on this forum many years ago so I understand your viewpoint. With time, when the realization hits you that it wouldn't get significantly better in the next 10 years, you'll start making plans about how to position yourself in life in a way which allows you to not just to okay by yourself but also by those around you. It wouldn't be fair to think that you aren't doing that already. Have a nice day. |

yoruba1914: so we should keep living like this? Ruled by quota system? Theives? Killed by fulanis so that they can take our lands? You are not seeing the bigger picture. I'm proud to be a Nigerian despite all the numerous problems since I don't have multiple citizenship. My advice to those who can, is to create their own little slice of heaven in this "shithole" and just keep pushing on. We are all visitors inside these borders and in due time our time will be up. Personally, I don tire to complain. |

I don’t remember whose signature this is but it’s really the truth: Unfortunately, the number of dumb Nigerian youths is increasing exponentially, making the averagely intelligent Nigerian an endangered specie!
