There are different kinda human beings based on temperament and ability to manage emotion, we have different elastic limits, some people take anything thrown at them, you have to sweat before you make them furious, you get angry because they don't get angry because of bad thing you've deliberately done to them. Some get angry reasonably and at reasonable time while some get angry too easily, you don't have to infuriate them before they get angry, that you become careful with the way you relate with them, believe me it doesn't have a thing to do with what one's gender is.

I usually hold on to a belief that a man should not lay hands on his wife, I've seen and heard men do it and I tag that act irresponsible, yes irresponsible, so I tell myself, myself a bachelor who hasn't had a wife before, whether a responsible one or not, loyal or not, submissive or not, never had one. I'm a strong believer of this religion but I always forget I've not practiced it yet, so it's pretty easy for me to judge. In the meantime, I ask myself if it is every man who beats his wife is not responsible, all of them? No, this can't be, things happen that good people go bad, something must be fishing, vague to outsiders, to us.

I've got to know some unacceptable things that women do that one should not just criticize men's reaction to, one thing that hurts honest men is when their wives are not honest to them. Infidelity, Stella, a lady from Warri was married to a Soldier man, who gave her all she wanted, but Stella would see guys outside secretly having sex with them because her husband wasn't always with her, the man got to know, he hurt and felt bad and divorced her, he could not beat her because he would lose his job if he did. Stella wept a lot but got over it, luckily for her, she found a new man who works in oil company. Stella boldly told him he didn't hit her well, out of concern, the man went to ask what he could do to it, someone recommended "Spike Viagra", a drug that aids man's efficiency, she started enjoying her husband, she became happy and so did the man. Unfortunately, the man started seeing the side effect of this drug, they told him to stop using it and he did, problem then began, she started lying to him that she wanted to travel to see her parents but spending those days in another man's place for sexual satisfaction, it really got the man sad when he caught her and ever since, he's started beating her, even in the presence of her child. My uncle's wife, she used to see a lawyer man, I'd seen her with the man many times but I didn't understand their relationship, she was caught the day someone saw her in Osogbo with the same lawyer man, he told my uncle about it, my uncle immediately called her and she lied she was in Ibadan, he didn't do anything, but he told my mum about it, mum told him to be patient but he ran outta patient when he caught her red handed, she received an incriminating message on my uncle's phone she forgot to delete, she first denied it but when they checked her phone, the number wasn't strange to her, the number was saved with a name, she could not explain who the man was and my uncle did what he hadn't done in his life, he beat a woman, I was surprised so much, this woman I'm talking about is his second wife, he never argues with the first wife let alone beating her. He could not take it, he had had a hunch about this but he just did not want to accuse her of what he did not catch her do but it wasn't easy for him to be silent.

What would I do if it were me? I don't know but maybe I would seek annulment, maybe I would file a divorce, honestly I can't stand it, sleeping in the same bed with her knowing another man also sleeps with her? To me, that's the only offense in a marriage that is unforgivable, especially when there is supposedly love bond between them.

When you run outta patience, you do the unbelievable, you go rogue, it's not you anymore, the good guy in you has now gone bad and brute, you do what you don't do. Some people then say you are irresponsible, they don't say your wife may have hurt your feelings.

The truth is not every man wants divorce for a woman's cheating, some think they need a mother for their children, but they make sure they make you pay for this deed, beating is the only thing that satisfies them. You see these days many women come out to say their husbands beat them but none will tell you what she does to have angered him.

I am not tryna judge any of them but just tryna correct the notion that all men who beat their wives are irresponsible because if you really understood what we call psychology, you wouldn't find it difficult to believe that when a human being loses it, he or she does anything to satisfy him or herself. If we have veterans who want to explain better, be my guest.
